For pervasive computing ideas to reach, and be used, by the general public, they should fulfil an unmet need. Automation of manual tasks in the home, car or at work provides a rich environment for new services and applications. Pervasive computing can be the infrastructure upon which such services can be built. However, without intelligent systems to support pervasive computing environments, users will be overwhelmed by the complexity of the systems with which they are asked to interact. Experience shows that, to be adopted, technologies must address a need without making unreasonable demands of the user, and without imposing huge maintenance and access costs. Intelligent systems will play a major part in enabling the applications that will create user need in pervasive computing environments — facilitating user access to the environment and reducing management cost to supportable levels. This paper will explore the social and technological research issues relevant to the use of intelligent systems in pervasive computing. These include privacy and data protection, user interface and human interaction with intelligent systems, knowledge acquisition, and the management of large-scale systems capable of autonomous action. 相似文献

the Nuclear Medicine Department, where nuclear medicine diagnostic tests like PET scan and nuclear scintigraphy are routinely
carried out involving the use of radioactive substances. This paper presents a pervasive healthcare system which is intended
to support clinicians in handling nuclear medicine test sessions within an appropriate, safety-aware context. The proposed
system also includes features to easily interoperate with heterogeneous software and databases already present in traditional
hospitals. Its design lies on a methodology which integrates RFID and photoelectric sensor technologies. An experimental prototype

With an increasingly mobile society and the worldwide deployment of mobile and wireless networks, the wireless infrastructure can support many current and emerging healthcare applications. This could fulfill the vision of “Pervasive Healthcare” or healthcare to anyone, anytime, and anywhere by removing locational, time and other restraints while increasing both the coverage and the quality. In this paper, we present applications and requirements of pervasive healthcare, wireless networking solutions and several important research problems. The pervasive healthcare applications include pervasive health monitoring, intelligent emergency management system, pervasive healthcare data access, and ubiquitous mobile telemedicine. One major application in pervasive healthcare, termed comprehensive health monitoring is presented in significant details using wireless networking solutions of wireless LANs, ad hoc wireless networks, and, cellular/GSM/3G infrastructure-oriented networks. Many interesting challenges of comprehensive wireless health monitoring, including context-awareness, reliability, and, autonomous and adaptable operation are also presented along with several high-level solutions. Pervasive learning as key technology for tomorrow’s learning will enhance and modernise education — not just in academic teaching. Pervasive learning can be regarded as the latest evolutionof e-learning made possible through recent highly mobile techniques. Through the use of pervasive computing and the use of omnipresent technologies, the presence of these technologies is becoming less conspicuous. Such development leads towards a new organisation of the whole learning environment, called a pervasive campus. This further advances mobile learning for an effectively organised blended learning. In this paper, we propose an architecture with related components and services that facilitates the implementation of pervasive campus applications in dynamic and complex environments, such as those encountered in pervasive communities. For decades, technologists have been promising the intelligent house. The vision is usually portrayed as a house filled with technology which will do the dweller's bidding and take all domestic drudgery out of their lives. The truly intelligent house is still some way off, but the emergence of broadband, availability of faster, smaller and ever cheaper computing equipment and a variety of wired and wireless network technologies are enabling technologies that bring this vision closer to reality. These technology trends lead to the concept that computing and other smart devices will become pervasive, fully networked and disappear into the infrastructure of the home. People will carry out their tasks unaware of the complexity of the infrastructure that supports their activities in much the same way as people today use mains electricity.This paper introduces these concepts and discusses the technological challenges to be overcome. We present our vision of the pervasive home environment where inhabitants can focus on tasks rather than the technology: I need to create X and send it to Y rather than I need to use this computer and this application which needs access to service A and resource B. Although this sounds simple, the environment needs to understand who I is, and who or what Y is. Appropriate permissions must be in place and resources allocated, if available. The most appropriate interface for the task and user must be determined.The pervasive, intelligent home will make available new ways to access and share information. It will herald new services, such as care and support of people in the home, entertainment, educational and security services. The final part of the paper discusses the commercial opportunities and challenges which must be met, not least the need for industry to agree on open standards and interfaces. 相似文献
