Global product development enables companies to increase knowledge sharing. Consequently, knowledge management (KM) is a key issue in the improvement of the product development process. This paper aims to analyze the knowledge evolution process in product development activities and to propose an integrated knowledge reference system. Based on knowledge characterization of vector and finite state machines, knowledge maturity and knowledge value are discussed, and knowledge and the product are linked by tasks and contexts. The knowledge reference system shows a mutually benefiting relationship between knowledge and the product and is thus an effective tool for KM in product development. 相似文献

Efficient virtual product creation combined with predictive engineering requires high-capacity computing and communication technologies as well as fast and transparent supply of knowledge, information and data. For this purpose, grid technologies offer great potentials for virtual product creation. One objective of grid computing is to perform more realistic simulations for better prediction of effects with reduced costs. This paper describes the approach and methods how engineering analysis problems in product development and manufacturing can be solved in the flexible context of CAE applications and grid computing infrastructure. The concurrent process design involves the simultaneous considerations of product design, tool design, machine-selection, production scheduling, and cost as early as possible in the design stage, the main theme being to capture and handle a large variety and volume of knowledge. Knowledge-based system is one of the promising approaches to facilitate concurrent process design. In order to manage heterogeneous knowledge bases, an effective architecture is required to implement such a process design procedure, where more than one domain expert is involved. 在产品开发过程中如何快速、有效的为设计人员提供设计知识成为了成功开发一个产品的关键。为了减轻设计人员在海量知识资源中的检索负担,需要一种快速、高效的设计知识资源检索方法,使设计人员可以集中精力于设计活动中的关键阶段。通过对基于Internet的分布式知识资源环境下的检索方法进行讨论,本文提出了一种快速、高效的两级知识检索方法:首先根据“加权关键词匹配定位法”来有效、准确的定位知识站点;然后“约束驱动知识检索”方法在所定位的知识站点中准确获取满足用户意愿的具体知识。两级知识检索方法可以改善原有传统检索方法的有效性,使设计开发人员在分布式知识资源环境下的知识检索效率大大提高。 相似文献

Modular product architectures are used by many firms today to achieve a high degree of product differentiation whilst reducing cost through economies of scale. At the same time, the firms are increasing architecture lifetimes to 10 years or more, which brings up new challenges for the development process. Uncertainties regarding future product features need to be anticipated when designing the architecture to minimize modification efforts. Nevertheless, existing approaches for designing modular product architectures are mainly based on static requirements and thereby neglect the dynamics of the market that influence future product features. This paper aims at presenting a method utilizing scenario-planning and simulations in the product range planning process to determine future product features and their uncertainties as a basis for the product architecture design. Possible feature specifications are derived from product environment scenarios and linked to the factors influencing the scenarios, to calculate their expected values and deviations. 相似文献

Current design of improved product generations does not exploit use information from previous products systematically. The emerging shift of manufacturing companies from selling products to providing product service systems, the miniaturization of product-embedded sensors, as well as advances in information technology facilitate a product providers access to operation information of current products, which can be used to improve the development and the quality of follower product generations. The paper presents a framework for the acquisition, aggregation and analysis of product use information as well as for the generation and provision of knowledge for the development of improved product generations. The described approach employs knowledge discovery methods like Bayesian Networks and is supported by an IT prototype of a design assistant system. This paper presents a mixed reality (MR) environment for collaborative product design and development. This MR collaborative environment is based on a client/server architecture where multiple users can create and modify product features in a 3D physical space simultaneously. A tri-layer model representation scheme is designed to facilitate product creation and visualization. Intuitive feature manipulation methods and grid-and-snap modes have been designed to support solid modelling in the MR environment. Bi-directional communication between the MR environment and the CAD system ensures any modifications made by one user are propagated to the views of other users for maintaining design data consistency. 相似文献

In recent decades additive manufacturing (AM) has evolved from a prototyping to a production technology. It is used to produce end-use-parts for medical, aerospace, automotive and other industrial applications from small series up to 100,000 of commercially successful products. Metal additive manufacturing processes are relatively slow, require complex preparation and post-processing treatment while using expensive machinery, resulting in high production costs per product. Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) aims at optimizing the product design to deal with the complexity of the production processes, while also defining decisive benefits of the AM based product in the usage stages of its life cycle. Recent investigations have shown that the lack of knowledge on DfAM tools and techniques are seen as one of the barriers for the further implementation of AM. This paper presents a framework for DfAM methods and tools, subdivided into three distinct stages of product development: AM process selection, product redesign for functionality enhancement, and product optimization for the AM process chosen. At the outset of designing a new product, knowledge about the product is limited, but the designer has a considerable amount of design freedom. Considering the environmental implications of a product design early in the design phase is a crucial step in achieving an environmentally efficient product. By applying the axiomatic approach to a product's design, the designer can ensure that the final embodiment of the product or service satisfies the obligatory and necessary set of functional requirements and constraints, including environmental issues. In this paper we show how the integration of environmental considerations early in the process of axiomatic design can lead to the development of an environmental-friendly product or service. The paper demonstrates an artificial case study of designing a modern manufacturing system. A major issue investigated in this work is the possibility of assessing environmental performance (or environmental-related information) already in the preliminary stages of the design process. An upper bound for the probability of a product failing to satisfy environmental requirements is introduced. In addition, the suitability of lifecycle analysis to the assessment of products during the process of axiomatic design is discussed. 相似文献
