A transflective cholesteric liquid crystal display (Ch-LCD) is demonstrated by using the image-enhanced reflector (IER) film on the top of the transmissive region to provide the similar paths for both transmissive and reflective light, thus, to display same image color in any ambience, improving the image quality. For full color display, the inkjet printing was applied and the patterned Ch-LC droplet was successfully deposited on the substrate. Thus, full-color Ch-LCD can be fabricated by IJP.  相似文献

A double-cell-gap transflective liquid crystal display (TR-LCD) based on 63.6$^{circ}$ twisted nematic mode is proposed. With only one uniaxial positive A-film in transmissive region, this normally black TR-LCD exhibits several attractive features, such as high optical efficiency, low operation voltage, acceptable viewing angle, and good cell gap tolerance. Moreover, the electro-optical characteristics of reflective and transmissive regions match with each other well. Its fabrication process is fairly simple and it is suitable for mobile applications.   相似文献

A novel transflective liquid crystal display architecture and its system driving schemes are proposed. In the reflective mode, the ambient light is used to readout the displayed images. While in the transmissive mode, a color-sequential light emitting diode backlight is used to eliminate the color filters. A single cell gap, single gamma curve, and low operating voltage transflective liquid crystal display (LCD) using an in-plane switching (IPS) cell is proposed. In the IPS cell, the pixilated transparent indium tin oxide electrodes are on the top substrate and the reflectors are on the bottom substrate. The electro-optic properties of the transflective IPS LCD are calculated using three-dimensional simulation software. Unlike transmissive liquid crystal display (LCD), spectral reflectance of reflective LCD along normal direction was observed to be different for left and right rotation of LC molecules or different domains. Characteristics of spectral reflectance distribution were analyzed. We compared the characteristics of state-of-the-art mobile display systems based on reflective and transmissive liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and an organic light-emitting display with respect to physical characterization metrics and observer studies. Physical performance factors provided information on the differences among display technologies. Observer studies resulted in different system ranking between the task-based performance and user-preference approaches. The results of the physical characterization and preference study showed that the reflective LCD ranked lower. We also found that ambient illumination played a lesser role than previously seen in large-format workstation displays. The methodology developed in this study provides an initial insight into the comparison of alternative technologies for display of diagnostic images in small portable devices.   相似文献

结合丝网印刷技术、烘烤工艺和烧结工艺,采用印刷ZnO层和银浆层相结合的方案,进行了分段复合衬底电极的制作。该分段复合衬底电极能够降低无效的阴极电压降,增强三极场发射显示器的发光亮度并改善其发光均匀性,且制作成本低廉。分段复合衬底电极避免了过长过细衬底电极现象,促使碳纳米管提供更多电子,同时有效改善了碳纳米管的场发射均匀性。利用碳纳米管作为阴极材料,进行了三极场发射显示器的研制,并进行点阵图像显示,从而证实了这种分段复合衬底电极制作工艺的可行性。与普通银电极场发射显示器相比,分段复合衬底电极场发射显示器能够将开启场强从1.92 V/μm降低到1.81 V/μm,其最大场发射电流由1 332.5μA提高到2 137.8μA,具有典型的场致发射特性以及优良的图像发光均匀性。  相似文献

A 220- × 240-element liquid-crystal 2-in television display panel, using an MOSFET/capacitor array with gate-bus drivers integrated onto the same silicon substrate, has been developed. A gold-nickel alloy and polyimide resin have been applied as reflective display electrodes and insulating interlayer, respectively. In this panel, considerable reduction in the number of interconnections and good display contrast have been attained. MOS array construction and fabrication, gate-bus driver circuit configuration, and panel performance are described in this paper.  相似文献

Numerical analysis of the dispersion-compensating properties of fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) in both reflective and transmissive modes is presented. First, the sensitivity of chirped, reflective gratings to the grating chirp parameter, index modulation, and grating length is examined, showing that apodization provides lower sensitivity to variations in these parameters. A broadband resonant filter of a fractional bandwidth of up to 6% with an insertion loss under 3 dB has recently been developed using a surface shear wave mode on an LiNbO3 Y-X substrate. We conduct both simulation and experiment studies of impacts of simultaneously varying the thicknesses of transparent bottom electrodes and semi-transparent top thin metal electrodes on optical characteristics (e.g., transmission, reflection) and efficiencies of transparent organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs). For the thickness range of both electrodes studied, the total electroluminescent (EL) efficiencies (including both bottom and top emission), EL spectra, and emission patterns remain similar; yet the ratio of top to bottom emission would be modulated by the semi-transparent top metal electrode thickness. The thickness of the transparent bottom electrode has weak effects on the efficiencies of top/bottom/total emission, but it does have definite effects on optical transmission/reflection spectra (e.g. peak/valley wavelengths). Meanwhile, the thickness of semi-transparent top metal electrodes mainly affect magnitudes of the optical transmission/reflection. Transmissive/reflective hues and appearances of the transparent OLEDs can thus be tuned by the thicknesses of bottom/top electrodes. Overall, we demonstrated efficient transparent green phosphorescent OLEDs exhibiting a high peak transmittance of up to 81% and rather high total external quantum efficiencies of up to 21–21.5% (corresponding to a total current efficiency of 80–82 cd/A and total power efficiency of 95–99 l m/W), among the highest (if not the highest) for planar transparent OLEDs using no other optical out-coupling structures. By varying the thicknesses of transparent bottom electrodes and semi-transparent top metal electrodes, the ratio of top to bottom emission, and the transmissive or reflective hues/appearances of transparent OLEDs in the off state can be tuned, yet without sacrificing total EL efficiencies or changing their EL colors/patterns. Such tunable optical characteristics of transparent OLEDs may find some interesting applications.  相似文献

To obtain high transmittance and reflectance simultaneously, a single cell gap transflective liquid crystal (LC) display using internal wire grid polarizer (WGP) is proposed. For the reflective mode, the imbedded WGP serves as a polarization-dependent reflector for the ambient light. For the transmissive mode, no achromatic quarter-wave film is needed. This device can be used as a normally black mode (using vertical alignment) and a normally white mode (using twist-nematic alignment), based on the initial LC cell alignment. Detailed electro-optic performance, such as voltage-dependent light efficiency and viewing angle of these two device configurations, is investigated.  相似文献

Investigation of the phase-induced intensity noise generated by fibre Bragg-grating-pair delay line signal processors is presented. The phase noise expressions of the transmissive and reflective Bragg-grating-pair structures are derived for the first time. They show that the transmissive and reflective structures have different phase noise spectra even though they have the same transfer characteristic.
