Adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) is a powerful technique to enhance the link performance by adjusting the transmission power, channel coding rates and modulation levels according to channel state information. In order to efficiently utilize the AMC scheme, an accurate signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) value is normally required for determining the AMC level. In this paper, we propose a simple method to represent the SNR values for maximum likelihood (ML) detector in multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems. By analyzing the relation between the upper bound and the lower bound of the ML detector performance, we introduce an efficient way to determine the SNR for the ML receiver. Based on the proposed SNR representation, an AMC scheme for single antenna systems can be extended to MIMO systems with ML detector. From computer simulations, we confirm that the proposed SNR representation allows us to achieve almost the same system throughput as the optimum AMC systems in frequency selective channels with reduced complexity.  相似文献

K-best Schnorr-Euchner (KSE) decoding algorithm is proposed in this paper to approach near-maximum-likelihood (ML) performance for multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) detection. As a low complexity MIMO decoding algorithm, the KSE is shown to be suitable for very large scale integration (VLSI) implementations and be capable of supporting soft outputs. Modified KSE (MKSE) decoding algorithm is further proposed to improve the performance of the soft-output KSE with minor modifications. Moreover, a VLSI architecture is proposed for both algorithms. There are several low complexity and low-power features incorporated in the proposed algorithms and the VLSI architecture. The proposed hard-output KSE decoder and the soft-output MKSE decoder is implemented for 4/spl times/4 16-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) MIMO detection in a 0.35-/spl mu/m and a 0.13-/spl mu/m CMOS technology, respectively. The implemented hard-output KSE chip core is 5.76 mm/sup 2/ with 91 K gates. The KSE decoding throughput is up to 53.3 Mb/s with a core power consumption of 626 mW at 100 MHz clock frequency and 2.8 V supply. The implemented soft-output MKSE chip can achieve a decoding throughput of more than 100 Mb/s with a 0.56 mm/sup 2/ core area and 97 K gates. The implementation results show that it is feasible to achieve near-ML performance and high detection throughput for a 4/spl times/4 16-QAM MIMO system using the proposed algorithms and the VLSI architecture with reasonable complexity.  相似文献

An algorithm to adjust the coding/modulation (CM) scheme in a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication system is proposed and analysed. The CM scheme selected for each transmitter is determined by a recursive procedure at the receiver, taking into account estimated signal-to-noise ratio and the properties of available CM schemes. To regulate the transmit-power and enhance the total throughput, a novel Transmit Power Control Game (TPCG) algorithm and an adaptive Modulation TPCG (M-TPCG) algorithm which combine bandwidth allocation, adaptive modulation and transmit-power control based on Space Time Block Coding (STBC) OFDM-CDMA system are designed and a cross-layer framework of database sharing is proposed. Simulation results show that the TPCG algorithm can regulate their transmitter powers and enhance the total throughput effectively, M-TPCG algorithm can achieve maximal system throughput. In this paper, we present a novel scalable video transmission strategy over multi-input multi-output (MIMO) wireless systems with time-varying channel capacity. It is a great challenge to simultaneously guarantee the QoS for video delivery and maximize the system throughput over time-varying MIMO channel. We demonstrate that, by making full use of estimated channel state information (CSI) through feedback, a cascade of adaptive operations can be designed to satisfy maximum throughput for scalable video over MIMO systems. These operations include power allocation based on water-filling (WF), adaptive channel selection (ACS), and novel throughput maximizing power reallocation (PR). The proposed ACS transmission scheme enables overall increase in data throughput among enhancement layers by adaptively launching base layer bit-stream to proper sub-channel. Then, after initial power allocation with WF and proper adaptive mode selection, we obtain the surplus power across enhancement layer sub-channels which can be reallocated to some sub-channels by the proposed PR scheme. With such power reallocation, certain enhancement layers will be able to reach new level of QAM modulation through PR so as to maximize the system data throughput. We present in this paper some detailed analysis on these adaptive operations. We also present some simulation results to demonstrate that maximum throughput video transmission over MIMO wireless systems indeed can be achieved based on scalable video coding (SVC) and a sequence of appropriately designed adaptive operations.  相似文献

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) significantly increases the throughput of a communication system by employing multiple antennas at the transmitter and the receiver. To extract maximum performance from a MIMO system, a computationally intensive search based detector is needed. To meet the challenge of MIMO detection, typical suboptimal MIMO detectors are ASIC or FPGA designs. We aim to show that a MIMO detector on Graphic processor unit (GPU), a low-cost parallel programmable co-processor, can achieve high throughput and can serve as an alternative to ASIC/FPGA designs. However, careful architecture aware software design is needed to leverage the performance offered by GPU. We propose a novel soft MIMO detection algorithm, multi-pass trellis traversal (MTT), and show that we can achieve ASIC/FPGA-like performance and handle different configurations in software on GPU. The proposed design can be used to accelerate wireless physical layer simulations and to offload MIMO detection processing in wireless testbed platforms.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a cross-layer design framework combining adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) with hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) based on rate-compatible low-density parity-check codes (RC-LDPC) in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) fading channels with estimation errors. First, we propose a new puncturing pattern for RC-LDPC codes and demonstrate that the new puncturing pattern performs similar to the random puncturing but is easier to apply. Then, we apply RC-LDPC codes with the new puncturing pattern to the cross-layer design combing AMC with ARQ over MIMO fading channels and derive the expressions for the throughput of the system. The effect of channel estimation errors on the system throughput is also investigated. Numerical results show that the joint design of AMC and ARQ based on RC-LDPC codes can achieve considerable spectral efficiency gain.  相似文献

A link adaptation (LA) scheme for the downlink of mobile hotspot, which is supported by an IEEE 802.16e or mobile WiMAX network, is proposed. The mobile WiMAX uses orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) in its physical layer. The main function of the LA scheme is to select an appropriate burst profile, which includes a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) transmission mode, modulation technique, and coding scheme. We formulate a discrete optimization problem for the LA scheme by maximizing the throughput. An algorithm to implement the LA scheme is also proposed. 利用单天线终端相互协作,形成虚拟多天线发射阵列,结合接收端基站多天线接收,以此实现协作MIMO系统,同时将MIMO中的空时编码理论应用其中,可以有效利用空间分集增益和编码增益,抵抗多径衰落并提高系统性能。其中,由于分布式空时分组码(D-STBC)能有效地利用空间分集,且编码简单、性能优越,因而重点研究其在协作MIMO中的运用,对其进行了建模,设计了D-STBC接收端检测器结构,指出极大似然(ML)检测的复杂度随协作节点数的增加呈指数增长,并推导了在ML检测下的系统成对差错概率(PEP)性能;同时介绍了基于空间复用的分布式垂直型贝尔实验室分层空时编码(D-VBLAST),它可以有效地提高数据传输速率(吞吐量),且译码算法复杂度可以随着数据速率的增加线性升高,适合于相对较高SNR的协作MIMO传输系统。   相似文献

该文分析了瑞利平坦衰落信道下,信道估计误差对采用迫零接收的MIMO系统性能的影响,提出了一种以系统有效吞吐量最大化为目标的功率分配与自适应调制算法。为了减少信道估计误差对实际系统性能的影响,该算法对发送端估计的信噪比进行修正,并以此作为功率分配和自适应调制的依据。在系统总功率受限的条件下,对发端多天线的功率分配结合了空域注水定理和比特分配,并尽量保证调制阶数高的数据符号所在天线的功率。仿真结果表明,该算法实现较简单,获得的系统有效吞吐量接近于最优值,适用于实际系统。  相似文献

We treat the throughput analyses of parallel ARQ schemes over correlated MIMO channels with adaptive modulation and coding (AMC). To describe the packet transmission over multiple parallel logic channels, we extend the existing burst- error model for single channel to multiple parallel logic channels. Based on such a packet error model, we derive the throughput of different parallel ARQ protocols. Moreover, to describe the temporally correlated physical channel fading, we generalize the existing Markov model for single channel to multiple parallel channels for MIMO systems. Then we develop a method for calculating the packet-level model parameters from the parameters of the physical-layer model and the MIMO transceiver. Using the above hierarchical throughput analysis framework, we investigate the potential throughput gain or throughput loss of parallel ARQ over the conventional serial ARQ in MIMO systems. Our results reveal that as SNR increases, parallel ARQ can achieve higher throughput gain or less throughput loss compared to serial ARQ; parallel SW can achieve throughput gain in most of the MIMO scenarios but increasing the number of antennas does not always bring higher gain; parallel GBN with large number of antennas and independent buffers can achieve throughput gain; parallel SR incurs throughput loss.  相似文献

多输入多输出正交频分复用(MIMO-OFDM)可以提高系统在频率选择性衰落信道的传输性能.与OFDM系统一样,MIMO-OFDM系统也存在高峰值平均功率比(PAPR)的问题.为此,提出了一种降低空时分组编码MIMO-OFDM系统PAPR的正交部分传输序列算法,运用这种算法,利用傅里叶变换的性质,通过调整空时编码与基带正交调制的顺序,对两天线发射端,可以降低算法近一半的复杂度,且可以减少一半的边信息.利用高功率放大器的非线性模型,得到了瑞利衰落信道下PAPR降低后系统的误码率性能.仿真结果证明了该方法的有效性.  相似文献

介绍了空时编码(STBC)和空频编码(SFBC)应用于OFDM系统,实现发射分集,并对基于梳状导频的LS(最小二乘)算法采用正交导频设计方案,把多天线信道估计转化为单天线信道估计,大大简化了运算。仿真结果表明,实现的空时和空频编码OFDM方案不仅误码性能良好,且具有系统实现复杂度低、接收机结构简单等优点。  相似文献

Cross-layer techniques represent efficient means to enhance throughput and increase the transmission reliability of wireless communication systems. In this paper, a cross-layer design of aggressive adaptive modulation and coding (A-AMC), truncated automatic repeat request (T-ARQ), and user scheduling is proposed for multiuser multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) maximal ratio combining (MRC) systems, where the impacts of feedback delay (FD) and limited feedback (LF) on channel state information (CSI) are also considered. The A-AMC and T-ARQ mechanism selects the appropriate modulation and coding schemes (MCSs) to achieve higher spectral efficiency while satisfying the service requirement on the packet loss rate (PLR), profiting from the feasibility of using different MCSs to retransmit a packet, which is destined to a scheduled user selected to exploit multiuser diversity and enhance the system's performance in terms of both transmission efficiency and fairness. The system's performance is evaluated in terms of the average PLR, average spectral efficiency (ASE), outage probability, and average packet delay, which are derived in closed form, considering transmissions over Rayleigh-fading channels. Numerical results and comparisons are provided and show that A-AMC combined with T-ARQ yields higher spectral efficiency than the conventional scheme based on adaptive modulation and coding (AMC), while keeping the achieved PLR closer to the system's requirement and reducing delay. Furthermore, the effects of the number of ARQ retransmissions, numbers of transmit and receive antennas, normalized FD, and cardinality of the beamforming weight vector codebook are studied and discussed.   相似文献

Efficient anti-jamming rateless coding based on cognitive Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) modulation in Cognitive Radio Network (CRN) is mainly discussed. Rateless coding with small redundancy and low complexity is presented, and the optimal design methods of building rateless codes are also proposed. In CRN, anti-jamming rateless coding could recover the lost packets in parallel channels of cognitive OFDM, thus it protects Secondary Users (SUs) from the interference by Primary Users (PUs) efficiently. Frame Error Rate (FER) and throughput performance of SU employing anti-jamming rateless coding are analyzed in detail. Performance comparison between rateless coding and piecewise coding are also presented. It is shown that, anti-jamming rateless coding provides low FER and Word Error Rate (WER) performance with uniform sub-channel selection. Meanwhile, it is also verified that, in higher jamming rate and longer code redundancy scenario, rateless coding method could achieve better FER and throughput performance than another anti-jamming coding schemes.  相似文献

针对多输入多输出(MIMO)系统中发射天线之间存在的相关性对系统性能的影响,在已有的基于相关矩阵自适应调整发射功率和相位的预编码算法的基础上,增加基于最小判决距离最大化准则的自适应调制,使接收端能得到均衡且总体最小的误码率.仿真结果表明,该算法可更好地自适应信道,在误码率为10-2时,能取得4dB的增益.  相似文献

近年来机会路由和网络编码是两种利用无线信道广播特性提高网络性能的新兴技术。相比传统的静态路由决策,机会路由利用动态和机会路由选择减轻无线有损链路带来的影响。网络编码可以提高网络的资源利用率。但编码机会依赖于多个并发流所选路径的相对结构。为了创造更多的网络编码机会和提高网络吞吐量,本文提出了一种基于流间网络编码的机会路由(ORNC)算法。在ORNC中,每个分组转发的机会路径选择是基于网络编码感知的方式进行的。当没有编码机会时,采用背压策略选择下一跳转发路径以平衡网络负载。仿真结果表明本文提出的ORNC算法能够提高无线多跳网络的吞吐量。  相似文献

 本文建立基于随机波束成形和自适应调制的MIMO-OFDM系统的自适应多用户分集系统模型,提出随机波束成形QR接收机的自适应多用户分集资源分配算法及其简化算法,推导在最大化系统吞吐量条件下系统的误码性能.仿真结果表明该算法在用户数很小时使系统性能收敛到特征波束成形系统的性能;当用户数增多时,采用天线分配算法的多用户分集系统能获得比特征波束成形系统更好的性能;将自适应编码调制技术运用到多用户分集系统来提高系统的实际吞吐量和误码性能.  相似文献
