The aim of the present research work is to develop expanded graphite (EG) and isocyanate modified graphite nanoplatelets (i-MG) filled SBR/BR blends, which can substitute natural rubber (NR) in some application areas. The present study investigated the effect of i-MG on the physical, mechanical and thermo-mechanical properties of polybutadiene rubber (BR), styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) and SBR/BR blends in the presence of carbon black (CB). Graphite sheets were modified to enhance its dispersion in the rubber matrices, which resulting in an improvement in the overall physical and mechanical properties of the rubber vulcanizates. Compounds based on 50:50 of BR and SBR with ∼3 wt% nanofillers with CB were fabricated by melt mixing. The morphology of the filled rubber blends was investigated by wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) and high resolution transmission electron microscopic (HR-TEM) analyses. The intercalated and delaminated structures of the nanofiller loaded rubber blends were observed. Scanning electron microscopic (SEM) analysis of the cryo-fractured surfaces of the rubber compounds showed more rough and tortuous pathway of the fractured surfaces compared to the fractured surfaces of the only CB loaded rubber composites. Filled rubber compounds exhibit increase in the ΔS (torque difference) value, reduced scorch and cure time compared to their respective controls. Dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) of the filled rubber compounds shows an increase in the storage modulus compared to the controls. Isocyanate modified graphite nanoplatelets (i-MG) containing rubber compounds in the presence of CB showed an increase in the mechanical, dynamic mechanical, hardness, abrasion resistance and thermal properties compared to the alone CB filled rubber vulcanizates.  相似文献

Ion bombardment is a suitable tool to improve the physical properties of polymers. In the present study, the effect of ion bombardment on the optical properties of low density polyethylene (LDPE)/Ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) blend (LDPE/EPDM) was studied. Polymer samples was bombarded with 130 keV He and 320 keV Ar ions at fluencies levels ranging from 1 × 1013 to 2 × 1016 ions/cm2. The untreated and ion beam bombarded samples were investigated using ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometry. The optical band gap (Eg), was decreased from ∼2.9 eV for the pristine sample down to 1.7 eV for the samples bombarded with He and Ar ions at the highest fluences. Change in the optical gap indicates the presence of a gradual phase transition for the polymer blends. Activation energy has been investigated as a function of the ion fluences. With increasing ion fluence, a decrease in both the energy gap and the activation energy was observed. The number of carbon atoms (N) in a formed cluster is determined according to the modified Tauc's equation.  相似文献

A new series of photosensitive poly(arylene ether sulfone)s containing chalcone moiety in the main chain were synthesized from 4,4′-dihydroxychalcone (4DHC), 4,4′-difluorodiphenylsulfone (DFDPS) and bisphenol A (BPA). This series of polymers were characterized by 1H NMR, FT-IR, UV spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The polymers were stable up to 400 °C, which indicates that the polymers possess good thermal properties. The polymers were found to be soluble in polar solvents and chlorinated solvents. However, the polymers were insoluble in hydrocarbons and in hydroxyl group-containing solvents. After the irradiation of UV light, the thin polymer film was crosslinked to give an insoluble film in the absence of a photoinitiator or sensitizers. The rate of photocrosslinking was also examined and discussed.  相似文献

The uniaxial tensile and ratcheting-fatigue behaviors of the Z2CND18.12N austenitic stainless steel at room temperature were studied with different thermal aging periods (from 1 h to 500 h) at different thermal aging temperatures (500 °C and 700 °C). The thermal aging process resulted in apparent changes in the ratcheting behavior and the ratcheting-fatigue life. The precipitates under different thermal aging conditions were identified by SEM observation. Considering the deterioration of the material induced by thermal aging process, aging damage factor was introduced to predict the ratcheting-fatigue life, which resulted in good prediction for all the thermal aging conditions.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of two proteins, albumin and type B gelatin, on the physical aging of EUDRAGIT® RS 30 D and RL 30 D coated theophylline pellets. The physicomechanical properties of sprayed films, thermal properties of cast films, influence of proteins on the zeta potential and particle size of the dispersion, and the release of proteins from cast films under simulated dissolution conditions were investigated. The release rate of theophylline decreased significantly over time from pellets coated with an acrylic dispersion containing 10% albumin when there was no acidification of the acrylic dispersion; however, when pellets were coated with an acidified EUDRAGIT®/albumin dispersion, the theophylline release rate was stable for dosage forms stored in the absence of humidity. The drug release rate was faster for pellets coated with acrylic dispersions containing 10% gelatin compared to the albumin-containing formulations. When sprayed films were stored at 40°C/75% RH, the water vapor permeability decreased significantly for both EUDRAGIT® films and those containing EUDRAGIT® and albumin; however, there was no significant change in this parameter when 10% gelatin was present. Albumin was released from the acrylic films when the pH of the dissolution media was below the isoelectric point of the protein while no quantitative release of gelatin was observed in pH 1.2 or 7.4 media. The effect of gelatin to prevent the decrease in drug release rate was due to stabilization in water vapor permeability of the film. Acidification of the polymeric dispersion resulted in electrostatic repulsive forces between albumin and the acrylic polymer, which stabilized the drug release rate when the dosage forms were stored in aluminum induction sealed containers at both 40°C/75% RH and 25°C/60% RH.  相似文献
