Network quality of service (NQoS) of IP networks is unpredictable and impacts the quality of networked multimedia services.
Adaptive voice and video schemes are therefore vital for the provision of voice over IP (VoIP) services for optimised quality
of experience (QoE). Traditional adaptation schemes based on NQoS do not take perceived quality into consideration even though
the user is the best judge of quality. Additionally, uncertainties inherent in NQoS parameter measurements make the design
of adaptation schemes difficult and their performance suboptimal. This paper presents a QoE-driven adaptation scheme for voice
and video over IP to solve the optimisation problem to provide optimal QoE for networked voice and video applications. The
adaptive VoIP architecture was implemented and tested both in NS2 and in an Open IMS Core network to allow extensive simulation
and test-bed evaluation. Results show that the scheme was optimally responsive to available network bandwidth and congestion
for both voice and video and optimised delivered QoE for different network conditions, and is friendly to TCP traffic. 相似文献

Issues related to lawful interception, such as invasion of privacy and efficient investigation, are presently at the forefront of social consciousness. Interception technology has to consistently evolve in order to keep pace with new and varied network structures. Thus, standard lawful interception documents that are appropriate for the existing PSTN, 2G and 3G, and packet-based communication are being proposed. In particular, newly arising services based on IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMSs) that support multimedia streaming, data transmission, and voice over IP, make lawful interception even more imperative. In this paper, we propose an architecture for IMS/Session Initiation Protocol based Lawful Interception (LI) in wireless 3G networks. We also propose LI techniques that are differentiated according to the IMS characteristics where content service providers are separated from network providers. Using the standards of dynamic triggering technologies for commissioning the authority to intercept among multiple network providers as a basis, we analyze IMS architecture and service operation methods. We then propose an LI architecture that is appropriate for IMS services. In addition, we present the results of a quality of service performance analysis conducted on our proposed interception architecture for various numbers of IMS users. 相似文献

To determine the potential signaling traffic reductions, the session establishment procedures were investigated. The investigation showed that the serving call session control function (S‐CSCF) is the major bottleneck in IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) network and the existing third‐generation partnership project (3GPP) service triggering algorithm (3GPP STA) based on initial filter criteria (iFC) increases largely the end‐to‐end session setup delay (SSD). To reduce the SSD and improve the system performance, a call‐state‐based application triggering architecture (CATA) was proposed. In CATA, the call‐state‐based filter criteria and the call‐state‐based service triggering algorithm (CSTA) were proposed, and then the modeling of 3GPP STA and CSTA was presented. Theoretical analysis and simulation results showed that the CSTA avoids the additional signaling traffic load of the S‐CSCF and application server effectively, which exists in 3GPP STA, reduces the SSD considerably, increases the throughput of the S‐CSCF and improves the quality of service of IMS network.
