The smart antenna (a blind adaptive antenna array) has brought much attention to its ability to improve the future code-division multiple-access (CDMA) wireless communications systems. However, Adachi et al. (1998), employed only one out of M elements that are in a smart antenna array during the pseudonoise (PN) code acquisition process due to the difficulty in obtaining the weight coefficients of the smart antenna and PN code acquisition jointly and adaptively. Yet, as the PN code is acquired, all M elements are used by Adachi et al. to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at a reverse link. We propose an efficient PN code acquisition scheme where all elements are employed during PN code acquisition. Also, we show that by using all elements, the PN code acquisition time can be shortened by at least 40% for a given signal-to-noise ratio and M=5, compared to the single element case. Furthermore, the power of a random access user signal in the reverse link can be lowered at least 3 dB. The additional computational load and complexity to use the proposed PN code acquisition are insignificant.  相似文献

A smart antenna, i.e., a blind adaptive antenna array, has attracted much attention to improve the capacity of a future code-division multiple-access wireless communications system. It has been demonstrated that there is significant improvement in data demodulation through lab simulations and field experiments by employing a smart antenna of multiple elements. However, only one element is used for the pseudonoise (PN) code acquisition process, which is a coarse PN code synchronization prior to data demodulation. This paper proposes a simple and practical PN code acquisition scheme, which employs all elements in the smart antenna. Also, this paper uses an adaptive threshold for the PN code acquisition. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can significantly improve the PN code acquisition performance, e.g., the PN code acquisition time will be half as long by employing five elements rather than the single element at a given bit-energy-to-interference power spectral density ratio.  相似文献

Initial synchronization (i.e. acquisition) of the spreading wave-form is a significant problem in spread spectrum system design. In this paper, adaptive threshold techniques are employed in a serial search acquisition scheme for direct sequence (DS) spread spectrum signals to improve the mean acquisition time of the system. Two approaches for adpative threshold modelling are presented, analysed and compared, namely the sample test approach and the probability-of-error approach. The results show that, using an adaptive threshold, a significant improvement may be achieved in the mean acquisition time for a certain range of interference-to-signal ratios (ISRS). The type of interference assumed is narrowband interference, from which DS spread spectrum systems suffer most, in addition to additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper investigates three code acquisition methods for direct sequence spread spectrum systems (DS/SS) utilizing smart antennas. The methods are suitable especially for receivers that consist of a smart antenna followed by a single correlator or a matched filter (IMF). The first method is the known fixed beam strategy where the whole angular uncertainty region is divided into small cells using conventional beamforming techniques. Therein, the receiver searches through all angular and delay cells via a serial search procedure. In the second method, the fixed division is made using advanced beamforming techniques, which provide improved tolerance against interference. In the third strategy, the direction-of-arrival (DOA) of incoming signals are estimated and utilized in the acquisition process. An advantage of this DOA estimation-based strategy, when compared to fixed beamforming methods, is a decrease in the region of uncertainty. Disadvantages are increased computational complexity and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) limitations. The acquisition strategies are compared when the serial search acquisition of the code phase is made using either the correlator or the matched filter. The results indicate that a single antenna receiver gives the best acquisition performance when SNR is high. However, single antenna methods are sensitive to interference. On the other hand, DOA estimation-based methods offer shorter mean acquisition times than fixed beam methods, especially when the number of arriving signals is small.  相似文献

为了评价高动态场景中码多普勒对捕获的影响,定量分析码多普勒对相关峰值的影响具有指导意义。引入一种有效的求解码相关结果的方法——图解法,采用此方法推导了当存在码多普勒时码相关结果,详细推导了当码搜索步进不连续时码多普勒对相关峰的影响。通过Matlab仿真了码搜索步进为连续和不连续时码多普勒对相关峰值的影响,证明前述推导是正确的。计算结果表明,当码搜索步进为二分之一码片,相关时间内码多普勒引起的码误差超过四分之一码片时将对相关峰值造成影响。  相似文献

文献[1]提出了一种用于直扩系统的PN码自适应门限算法。但该文献也指出,此算法对门限总数十分敏感。当门限总数设置不当时,系统的平均捕获时间将显著增加。这限制了该算法在实际中的应用。本文就此提出了改进,给出了算法及电路框图。仿真结果表明,与原方案相比,改进算法改善了对门限总数的敏感性,降低了PN码平均捕获时间。  相似文献

Pseudo-noise (PN) or direct sequence (DS) modulation, frequency hopping (FH) and their combination (i.e. the hybrid FH/PN approach) are common spread spectrum (SS) communications techniques used to achieve anti-jamming (AJ) and/or low probability of intercept (LPI). This study investigates the following FH and FH/PN related issues: (i) derive and apply M-ary phases of PN sequences to increase the AJ and transmission efficiency, (ii) use of erasure channel to reduce received errors and unreliable data, (iii) employ error correction coding and signal editing (SE) to improve communication surviv-ability, and (iv) adopt surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices to simplify the synchronization procedure in PN correlation. A special example is also given to illustrate the potential AJ improvement when an SS communications system employs both concatenated coding and concatenated SE techniques.  相似文献

The Sequential Estimation (SE) technique introduced by Ward was designed for the acquisition of pseudo-noise (PN) signals. It proves to be an effective model in medium SNRs as long as inverted PN sequences are not encountered. Recognizing that negative data bits invert PN sequences in spread spectrum transmissions, Chiu and Lee developed an Improved Sequential Estimator (ISE) that processes both types of sequences. The ISE design, however, erroneously despreads the incoming signal by inverting it during negative bit acquisitions. In some applications, this could be a problem, hence a Dual Correlating Sequential Estimator (DCSE) is proposed in this paper. The DCSE detects modulation errors by gathering correlation measurements from resident SE and ISE subsystems and corrects for them with an inverting mechanism. Key performance parameters such as mean timing and the variance of acquisition for the sequential estimator designs are derived via the generalized signal flow graph method and verified through simulation. Noncoherent sequential pseudonoise (PN) code acquisition using sliding correlation is proposed in this paper. Noncoherent detection and chip asynchronization should be taken care of to handle a severely noisy environment, while frequency offset and data modulation effects can be simultaneously dealt with in the proposed technique. To realize sequential detection, the cross-correlation sequences at the output end of the integrate/dump (LID) filter under out-of-lock conditions have to be modeled as either a Gaussian random sequence for chip-asynchronous applications or as their upper bound for chip-synchronous applications in order to avoid significantly high probabilities of false alarm caused by the conventional zero-sequence model. Meanwhile, the in-lock sequence also has to be modified by taking the frequency offset and chip-asynchronization effects into account in order to avoid the occurrence of high probabilities of miss. Extensive computer simulation results indicate that the proposed technique can achieve low probabilities of false alarm and miss and can outperform its fixed-sample-size (FSS) counterparts by roughly 2~4 dB. Narrow band (NB), spread spectrum (SS), and ultra wide band (UWB) are three physical layer bandwidth types used in wireless sensor networks (WSN). SS and UWB technologies have many advantages over NB, which make them preferable for WSN. Synchronisation of different nodes in a WSN is an important task that is necessary to improve cooperation and lifetime of nodes. Code acquisition is the main step of a node’s time synchronisation. In this article, a pseudo noise code generator and a code acquisition circuit are proposed, designed and tested using direct sequence SS technique. To investigate the properties of the designed circuits, simulations are carried out via Xilinx Foundation Series software in the real mode. The results demonstrate excellent performance of the proposed algorithms and circuits in all realistic conditions. The code acquisition circuit proposed an adaptive testing window for single dwell serial search method. The code acquisition circuit is a clock phase free approach, thus the clock coherency step is cancelled. Moreover, clock phase difference between transmitter and receiver nodes does not mostly affect the acquisition and thus synchronisation time.  相似文献

Since the received signal levels in mobile communications are unknown and the location is varying, acquisition schemes for pseudonoise (PN) sequences with fixed thresholds cannot provide satisfactory performance. 针对直接扩频系统的PN码捕获问题提出了一种基于恒虚警概率自适应门限算法的改进方案。方案通过将相邻两个符号长度内接收信号的相关峰值及平均能量对应相乘构造出新的统计量,并用随噪声能量及信噪比变化的自适应门限代替原有的固定门限判决统计量,以达到提高系统检测性能的目的。理论分析和仿真结果表明,改进方案较原方案的PN码捕获性能有很大的提高。  相似文献

针对直扩系统中长PN码同步捕获速度慢的问题,利用推导的串接短PN码与长PN码具有相似相关性的结论,对直扩系统中PN码同步捕获的并行匹配滤波捕获方法进行改进,得到了简单可行的串并结合捕获方法。然后,结合一个周期内PN码相关值,采用迭代的方式,选取简单、实用的自适应门限,实现了突发通信中PN码的快速同步捕获。采用该自适应门限的捕获方法无需估计噪声,计算量小。仿真实验表明所提方法捕获概率高,抗噪性能强。  相似文献

针对恶劣环境下干扰信号影响捕获系统性能的问题,提出了一种消除强干扰的捕获方法,该方法利用奇异值分解技术,对接收信号进行分解、重构,以消除干扰,然后将处理后的信号送入捕获系统中进行编码捕获.理论分析与仿真实验均表明:该方法能够很好地消除干扰信号,有效地改善系统的捕获性能,提高系统的稳定性.  相似文献

In this paper, signed-rank based nonparametric detectors are used for pseudonoise (PN) code acquisition in direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS/SS) systems. We first derive the locally optimum rank (LOR) detector and then propose the locally suboptimum rank (LSR) and modified signed-rank (MSR) detectors using approximate score functions. We compare the single-dwell scheme without the verification mode using the proposed LSR and MSR detectors with that using the conventional squared-sum (SS) and modified sign (MS) detectors. From the simulation results, it is shown that the proposed LSR and MSR detectors perform better than the MS detector by about 2-3 dB and are nearly optimum  相似文献

This paper proposes a noncoherent hybrid parallel pseudonoise (PN) code acquisition scheme for code-division multiple access (CDMA) mobile communication systems and analyzes the effect of multiple access interference (MAI) on the code acquisition performance for Rayleigh and Rician fading channels. The hybrid acquisition scheme combines parallel search with serial search to cover the whole uncertainty region of the input code phase. It has a much simpler acquisition hardware structure than the total parallel acquisition and can achieve the mean acquisition time slightly inferior to that of the total parallel acquisition in the case of severe MAI; on the other hand, it provides the flexibility in the tradeoff between the mean acquisition time and system complexity if no MAI is considered. The closed-form expressions of the detection and false-alarm probabilities and mean acquisition time are derived. Numerical analysis quantifies the severe performance degradation of code acquisition due to both MAI and channel fading, and demonstrates the dependence of the increase of mean acquisition time (due to MAI) on the number of users in the CDMA system, system design parameters, and channel fading statistics  相似文献

New differentially coherent detectors for acquisition of direct sequence spread-spectrum signals are introduced. These detectors are alternatives to the noncoherent detectors that have been considered almost exclusively in the past. The proposed detectors are suitable for commercial code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems which operate with a relatively large noise floor and provide a surprisingly large signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) improvement over the noncoherent detectors of approximately 5 dB. Under the random code sequence assumption, an exact analysis of the differentially coherent detection performance for both full period correlation (FPC) and partial period correlation (PPC) is carried out. The detector performance in terms of detection and false alarm probabilities for both partial and full period correlations is investigated, and the results are compared with those of classical noncoherent detection.
