Stable cryogenic vacuum capacitor for single-electron chargingexperiments

For use in our single-electron charging experiment, a novel cryogenic vacuum capacitor has been developed which is superior to the previous parallel-plate design. Due to its coaxial design consisting of a long cylindrical center electrode and a shorter cylindrical ring electrode, it is inherently stable against mechanical vibrations and thermal cycling. Electrical insulation is achieved by the exclusive use of sapphire, which promises extremely low leakage currents     

Thermophysical properties of a multilayer capacitor dielectric under vacuum

Results are presented of an experimental investigation of the coefficient of thermal conductivity in a multilayer cellulose capacitor dielectric under vacuum conditions.

新型多纤维陶瓷电容器的设计

提出了一种新型多纤维陶瓷电容器(MFC)。MFC由众多纤维电容器并联而成，而每根纤维电容器由内电极(导电纤维)、介电层和外电极构成。理论分析表明，当纤维直径与介电层厚度相匹配时，MFC的电容比多层电容器(MLC)的电容大，而且MFC也具有更优异的抗击穿性能。     

Multifiber ceramic capacitor

A new type of capacitor, multifiber capacitor (MFC) is proposed. It is made up of fiber capacitors (elements) connected in parallel and bonded together with a binder. Each element consists of fiber core (inner electrode), dielectric coating and outer electrode. Analysis indicates that MFC has the optimum capacitance in comparison with multilayer capacitor (MLC) when the diameter of fiber core is carefully matched by the thickness of dielectric coating. Since dielectric layer of a wide range of thickness can be produced more easily as fiber coating than as flat tape, MFC can cover a wider range of capacitance than MLC. Apart from as a possible substitute or supplement to MLC, MFC is potentially useful to bridge the gap between ceramic MLC and thin film capacitor used in integrated circuits. MFC also has better resistance to dielectric breakdown. The possible techniques for the preparation of MFC are also described.     

纳米门炭及纳米门电容器

纳米门电容器是目前报道中比能量最高的超级电容器,其关键在于采用结构独特的纳米门炭作为电极材料.纳米门炭具有较小的比表面积（100 m^2/g左右）,比较大的密度,孔结构分布在中孔和大孔;最大的特点是具有生长比较完整的类石墨微晶 .纳米门的含义是：组成碳的石墨微晶中d002层间距在0.365 nm～0.385 nm之间,其结构具有类似＂门＂或层间入口的作用,且其大小在纳米范围内,所以称为纳米门.纳米门电容器在充电过程中电解液离子和溶剂分子可以进入纳米门炭层间,增大其比表面积和比电容,进而得到高的比能量.     

Relaxor ceramics for multilayer capacitor application

Relaxor ferroelectrics, lead magnesium niobate (PMN) and lead zinc niobate (PZN) and their solid solution with lead titanate (PT) and barium titanate (BT) were studied. Unlike lead magnesium niobate, the pyrochlore-free material for lead zinc niobate could not be prepared by reaction between lead niobate and ZnO below 1000°C. However, some improved composition was obtained when lead zinc niobate (85%) and a mixture of lead titanate (10%) and barium titanate (5%) sintered at 950°C. XRD examination of the samples revealed that lead magnesium niobate prepared by us contained 9.9% pyrochlore phase, whereas the solid solution between 90% lead magnesium niobate and 10% lead titanate was completely free from the same phase. The dielectric constant for PZN-PT-BT (85:10:5) ternary system was 4000, whereas the same for lead magnesium niobate and its solid solution with 10% lead titanate was 4100 and 6000 respectively. The comparatively low value obtained for PZN-PT-BT solid solution was probably due to the presence of appreciable amount of pyrochlore phase. The grain diameter for PMN and PMN-PT (90:10) solid solution was 1.37/μM and 2.34μM respectively.     

Thin film ferroelectrics for capacitor applications

Pulsed laser deposition (PLD) has been used to fabricate simple thin film capacitor structures with a variety of ferroelectric materials. Thin film capacitors using the conventional ferroelectric material BaxSr1-xTiO3(BSTO) have been made across the entire compositional series. Electrical characterization shows that in thin film form these ferroelectrics display Curie point behaviour which is largely independent of composition. This contrasts sharply with bulk behaviour. The thin film fabrication and characterization of relaxor ferroelectric ceramics, such as Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 (PMN) and Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-BaTiO3(PZN-BT), is also reported. © 1998 Chapman & Hall

A thermocouple vacuum gauge for low vacuum measurement

The construction of a thermocouple vacuum gauge for the range of pressures from 200 to 800 mbar is reported. The gauge differs from similar ones that cover the medium vacuum region. The main difference is that the thermocouple is not fixed to the filament, as usual, but is placed at some distance from the filament.     

On the vacuum design of vacuum web coaters

The main features which determine the vacuum design of a vacuum web coater are reviewed. Measurements on the outgassing of polymer and paper web rolls as well as on the conductance of the slit configurations usually employed in production roll coaters are presented. On this basis the vacuum design of an advanced web coater concept for coating video type is discussed in some detail. The discussion includes the concept of additional buffer chambers between the deposition chamber and the winding chamber to minimize the gas flow into the deposition chamber.     

真空电弧炉和真空感应炉的研究

简述了我所50年来在真空冶金设备研制方面获得的一些研究成果,重点对大容量真空电弧熔炼的短网压降设计的重要性进行了剖析.对电弧凝壳炉熔炼的水冷坩埚及其水冷结构、离心浇铸机构的设计进行了总结.对1～3t真空感应炉研发过程中的一些共性问题进行了探讨.为技术创新提供参考.     

The theory of the standard screened capacitor

A transformation formula for the standard screened capacitor with additional electrodes, which forms part of the GéT 158-96 State Standard, is derived and analyzed. The formula connects the voltage applied to the capacitor with the electric-field strength at the center of the capacitor, and enables the voltage applied to the additional electrodes to be chosen in the optimum way, and ensures that the electric field at the center of the capacitor is uniform. __________ Translated from Izmeritel’naya Tekhnika, No. 7, pp. 37–39, July, 2007.

A brief overview of the materials and processes for making ceramic capacitors based on BaTiO₃ and relaxor ferroelectric compositions is presented with special emphasis on more recent developments.     

The Josephson pendulum as a nonlinear capacitor

In the quantum electrodynamic circuit theory of weak link constrictions, the singly connected weak link exhibits energy bands in charge space. Here, it is shown that charge space energy bands arise also in the quantum mechanical treatment of a Josephson pendulum.
