Abstract

We present a scheme for the generation of arbitrary two-qubit entangled states between two cavity fields via interaction of an atom resonantly interacting with classical and quantized cavity fields. The controlling parameters are the interaction times with these fields.  相似文献

Abstract

Among the quantum optical states of a tremolant optical cavity are multimode coherent states. Such states are also possible in open cavities where the cavity stabilization time is greater than the multimode beat time. In open cavity resonator lasers they reduce the power limiting effects of spectral hole burning and therefore tend to grow at the expense of single mode coherent states.  相似文献

Abstract

Explicit models are derived for good cavity one- and two-photon lasers with an injected signal in a Fabry-Pérot cavity. The steady solutions and their stability properties are obtained analytically and compared with the corresponding ring cavity model ones. Only quantitative differences between both types of cavities are found. In particular we show that (i) the Fabry-Pérot cavity reduces significantly the domain of self-pulsing with respect to the ring cavity, and for the two-photon laser case (ii) larger output can be extracted from a Fabry-Pérot cavity than from a ring cavity under certain conditions, something impossible in free-running lasers. We conclude that ring cavity models are sensible models for describing qualitatively Fabry-Pérot experimental configurations.  相似文献

Abstract

It is shown that some 17 Rydberg Na atoms initially placed into a coherent atomic state and super-radiating into a low-Q microwave cavity at temperatures T ? 0·4 K will show modest squeezing in the fluorescence field, the squeezing arising from terms oscillating at twice the cavity frequency. It is also shown that similar numbers of Rydberg atoms undergoing resonance fluorescence in a coherent single-mode microwave driving field and without any cavity will show more substantial squeezing in the fluorescence field.  相似文献

Abstract

We propose a scheme to generate the GHZ state of nitrogen-vacancy centers coupled to a whispering-gallery mode cavity. The implemented evolution is independent of the cavity field state with the assistance of a strong classical field, and thus not sensitive to the thermal state of the cavity. Meanwhile, it is fast compared to the convectional dispersive interaction induced operation in a cavity-assisted system. The scheme is readily scalable to the multiqubit scenario.  相似文献

Abstract

A scheme for high gain and narrow linewidth of an optical cavity with a four-level atomic system is proposed by the Doppler effect via active Raman gain (ARG) process. Atomic motion leads to Doppler frequency shift which induces constructive interference for the linear susceptibility. The enhanced normal dispersion greatly narrows the cavity linewidth, and the amplified gain gives rise to a high cavity transmission. Simulation results show that the cavity linewidth based on ARG is about one order of magnitude narrower than that based on electromagnetically-induced transparency under the same conditions, and the cavity transmission intensity could be enhanced by nearly 30 times.  相似文献

Abstract

The accumulation of cavitation damage with increasing strain during the biaxial deformation of two superplastic aluminium-base alloys has been studied using densitometry and quantitative metallography. A model based on constitutive relationships for the diffusive and plastic growth of voids has been extended to account for cavity coalescence, a phenomenon commonly observed during superplastic deformation. Good agreement between the measured and calculated cavity growth rates was obtained for one alloy (AI 7475), while discrepancies observed for the second alloy (Supral 220) are explained in terms of the effects of continuous cavity nucleation.

Abstract

A general formalism for the calculation of group velocity dispersion of laser cavities containing elements with angular or lateral dispersion is developed. This formalism is applied to the cavity of a ring laser with one prism and to a cavity with two antiparallel prisms. Abstract

We show that macroscopic superposition (Schrödinger cat) states of a quantized single-mode cavity field can be produced via the interaction of this field with a two-level atom which is driven by a classical field even for small initial intensities of the quantized cavity mode. We show that with a properly chosen driving field an almost pure superposition state with arbitrary amplitudes and phases of component states can be produced.  相似文献

Abstract

A study has been made of the growth of cavities and of artificial holes in AA 7475 alloy sheet material during both uniaxial and equibiaxial tensile straining, with the object of clarifying the effect of stress state on cavitation during superplastic flow. The growth rate of cavities with strain was observed to be lower for uniaxial tension than for equibiaxial tension. An analysis of artificial hole growth data supports these observations, and is consistent with the view that continuous cavity nucleation and cavity coalescence lead to an increase in the apparent cavity growth rate during superplastic flow.

Abstract

A general model for constrained cavity growth is developed for cavitation during creep deformation. The model incorporates the effect of the separation between cavitated facets, the contributions of local power-law creep in the cavitated regions of a specimen, and the possibility of coupled cavity growth. A detailed analysis of the model reveals that, during constrained cavity growth at low stresses, interaction effects enhance the cavity growth rates when L/d<10, where L is the separation between the cavitated facets and d is the grain size. An assessment of the stress redistributions occurring during cavity growth indicates that constrained cavity growth may lead to increases in the specimen creep rate by significantly increasing the stress in the uncavitated regions of a specimen when L/d<5. It is also demonstrated that, under the appropriate limiting conditions, the present general model gives results similar to those obtained in previous studies on constrained cavity growth.

Abstract

The non-uniform deformation (necking and thinning) development and fracture of superplastic materials under both uniaxial tension and circular sheet bulging are numerically analysed by considering the effects of strain rate sensitivity and cavity growth with superimposed pressure. It is found that the fracture mode, which is controlled by both strain rate sensitivity and cavity growth rate, can be changed by superimposed pressure from fracture without external necking for cavity sensitive alloys at zero pressure to fracture with necking development or extensive thinning at pressure large enough to completely suppress cavity growth. Fracture mechanism diagrams are presented which enable prediction of the fracture mode to be made as a function of material parameters and pressure conditions for uniaxial tension and bulging.

Abstract

We report a high efficiency scheme for generating a single-photon state transmitted out of an optical cavity. For realistic cavity QED parameters, we show that the scheme can produce a single-photon pulse with a probability exceeding 99% in a user-specified time interval. By recycling the system, the scheme can be used to create a bit-stream of single-photon pulses.  相似文献

Abstract

We discuss a model of a cavity filled with a passive nonlinear ?Kerr‘ medium and periodically kicked by a series of ultra-short laser pulses. The nonlinear medium is described by the (2q ? 1)th nonlinearity X (2q?1). We find analytical formulas describing the field states inside the cavity. We show that such a system can produce, depending on the order of the nonlinearity, superpositions of several Fock states with the small photon numbers (0,1; 0,1,2; etc). In particular, the one-photon state can be approached during the evolution of the system with X (3) nonlinearity provided the cavity losses are negligible. The purity of states generated in this process, however, can be seriously degraded by the cavity damping. We perform numerical calculations to validate our analytical results.  相似文献

Abstract

The quantum mechanical master equation for a single two-level atom in a single-mode optical cavity is numerically solved in both the quantum and the semiclassical limits. The quantum limit of few cavity photons shows semiclassically forbidden behaviour such as steady state two-level population inversion. Qualitatively new fluorescent spectra, having sidebands broadened by the cavity interaction, also occur. The quantum theory of the single-atom laser with injected signal is presented. At the interface between its quantum and semiclassical dynamics we elucidate the signature of semiclassical limit cycles.  相似文献

Abstract

Steier et al. [1] have shown that the diffraction efficiency of a stationary grating may be improved by placing the grating in a resonant cavity. In this paper we describe the diffraction of light by a Bragg cell in a resonant cavity. Large improvements in diffraction efficiency are shown to be possible if scattering losses on the surface of the cell can be kept small. The effects of introducing gain into the cavity are calculated and the changes in bandwidth, resolution and dynamic range are discussed for the system when used as a radiofrequency spectrum analyser. A multichannel fibre optic system has been designed and is described.  相似文献

Abstract

We study the dynamics of a two-level atom interacting with a single mode of a damped cavity at 0 K when the cavity is initially in the vacuum state and the atom enters it in an arbitrary (pure or mixed) state. A complete analytical solution of this simple model is presented. On the basis of this solution we firstly investigate the pseudo-spin dynamics of the atom and the cavity field, secondly give an illustration of the Araki-Lieb theorem concerning the von Neumann entropies of interacting quantum systems and thirdly demonstrate the generation of entangled states of the atom and cavity field that are of interest in connection with the Bell inequalities.  相似文献

Abstract

A high power Nd: YAG mini-slab laser transversely pumped by two diode laser arrays has been investigated. The simplicity and compactness of this pumping scheme provides intrinsic stability in both the output power and the beam pointing. A linearly polarized TEM00 mode output power of 3·6 W at 1064 nm was achieved with a linear cavity, and 1 W of single frequency green light at 532 nm was generated by intracavity doubling in a ring cavity.  相似文献

Abstract

We theoretically study the interaction between dual cavity modes in a planar photonic microcavity structure in the optical communication wavelength range. The merging and splitting of cavity mode is analysed with realistic microcavity structures. The merging of dual cavity resonance into a single cavity resonance is achieved by changing the number of layers between the two cavities. The splitting of single cavity resonance into dual cavity resonance is obtained with an increase in the reflectivity of mirrors in the front and rear side of the microcavity structure. The threshold condition for the merging and splitting of cavity mode is established in terms of structural parameters. The physical origin of the merging of dual cavity modes into a single cavity resonance is discussed in terms of the electric field intensity distribution in the microcavity structure. The microcavity structure with dual cavity modes is useful for the generation of entangled photon pairs, for achieving the strong-coupling regime between exciton and photon and for high-resolution multi-wavelength filters in optical communication.  相似文献
