The diode-laser absorption technique was applied for simultaneous velocity and temperature measurements of an argon plume exhausted by an arcjet. The Ar i absorption line at 811.531 nm was taken as the center absorption line. The velocity and the temperature were derived from the Doppler shift in the absorption profiles and the full width at half-maximum of the plume absorption profile, respectively. From the measured plume velocity and temperature, the total enthalpy of the exhausted plume, the thrust efficiency, and the thermal efficiency of the arcjet were derived, and the performance of the arcjet was examined. The results are demonstrated to agree with results derived by other methods, and the technique can be applied to the measurement of other arcjet systems without much modification.  相似文献

Coherent-light diffraction on random phase screens with fractal properties leads to the formation of speckle patterns with peculiarities in correlation characteristics in the small-scale region. Such peculiarities are manifested in asymptotic behavior in intensity autocorrelation and structure functions in the vicinity of the zero values of their arguments. Intensity fluctuations in the far and the near diffraction zones are also characterized by values of fractal (Hausdorff-Besicovitch) dimensions D(HB), differing from the corresponding Euclidean dimension. Relationships between the exponential factors of the structure functions of boundary field phase and scattered-light intensity fluctuations as well as between values of D(HB) have been obtained as a result of speckle-formation analysis for different conditions. Their dependencies on the illumination and observation conditions obtained in experiments with fractallike scatterers (rough glass plates) are in satisfactory agreement with theoretical results.  相似文献

A near-IR tunable external-cavity laser that uses an electro-optic deflector and a reflection grating as a tunable filter is demonstrated. The deflector is an electronically reconfigurable nonpixelated nematic liquid-crystal device. By controlling the voltage applied to the electro-optic deflector, a tuning range of 12 nm and a side-mode suppression higher than 30 dB are obtained.  相似文献

采用数值模拟的方法,以高斯光束、平顶光束、有中心遮拦的平顶光束为例,研究了激光在均匀大气传输过程中产生的稳态热晕效应。详细分析了发射功率、传输距离、光束直径、横向风速四种参数对热晕效应的影响,得到了以上三种光束的斯特列尔比和峰值偏移量随广义热畸变参数N的变化关系。数值仿真结果表明,在其他参数一致的情况下,发射功率越大、传输距离越长,热晕效应越强;而光束直径和横向风速的增加会减小热晕效应;不同激光强度分布对热晕效应的影响不同。在同样广义热畸变参数N的条件下,高斯光束的热晕效应最严重,平顶光束次之,空心光束的热晕效应最小。

Femtosecond laser machining of single-crystal superalloys coated with thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) has been investigated. The investigations were carried out in air using a titanium:sapphire laser system (λ = 780 nm) operating at a repetition rate of 1 kHz and delivering individual pulses of 150 fs in duration. The ablation threshold of 7 wt.% yttria stabilized zirconia (7YSZ) has been measured to be 1.52 ± 0.21 J/cm2. Microstructural investigations indicated a complete absence of conventional processing defects such as recast layers and microcracking in the vicinity of the machining area. The absence of machining-induced melting or delamination along interfaces of the TBC system demonstrates a significant advantage in comparison with conventional laser machining.  相似文献

Based on the propagating theory of the laser beam, the propagating characteristics of the Gaussian beam through an aperture team that comprises two apertures and a convergent lens, are studied. The approximate expressions for the field distribution are derived by the diffracted integral equation in detail under the condition of approximations. In comparison with the approximate expression and the precise expression, we know that there are the approximate same results for the two expressions if the radius of the second aperture is not too large. The numerical examples are given to confirm the correctness of our calculated results.  相似文献

A tapered fiber is fabricated by heating and stretching a piece of optical fiber after the polymer protective cladding has been removed. An equidistant comb-like transmission spectrum, with a spacing of 1.6?nm and an extinction ratio of more than 5?dB, was obtained by the tapered fiber due to the multibeam interferences of the cladding modes. The tapered fiber was applied in a ring erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) to generate dual-wavelength lasing oscillations. The EDFL operates at wavelengths of 1557.0?nm and 1558.6?nm with a stable peak power and a signal-to-noise ratio of more than 40?dB.  相似文献

We report the results of underwater imaging with an amplitude-modulated single-mode laser beam and miniaturized piezoactuator-based scanning system. The basic elements of the device are a diode laser source at 405 nm with digital amplitude modulation and a microscanning system realized with a small-aperture aspheric lens mounted on a pair of piezoelectric translators driven by sawtooth waveforms. The system has been designed to be a low-weight and rugged imaging device suitable to operate at medium range (approximately 10 m) in clear seawater as also demonstrated by computer simulation of layout performance. In the controlled laboratory conditions a submillimeter range accuracy has been obtained at a laser amplitude modulation frequency of 36.7 MHz.  相似文献

An actively mode-locked fiber laser with two overlapping cavities is proposed and successfully demonstrated to generate switchable quadruple-wavelength picosecond pulses. The wavelengths are specified by two Bragg gratings in polarization-maintaining and absorption-reducing fiber. By simple adjustment of two polarization controllers, the proposed laser can be made to operate at quadruple wavelength or to switch between wavelengths at room temperature. For wavelength switching, four single-wavelength, six dual-wavelength, and four triple-wavelength operations were performed without changing the repetition rate of the output pulses.  相似文献

Molecular transport through nanoscale pores in films, membranes and wall structures is of fundamental importance in a number of physical, chemical and biological processes. However, there is a lack of experimental methods that can obtain information on the structure and orientation of the molecules as they pass through the pore, and their interactions with the pore during passage. Imaging with a transmission electron microscope is a powerful method for studying structural changes in single molecules as they move and for imaging molecules confined inside carbon nanotubes. Here, we report that such imaging can be used to observe the structure and orientation of a hydrocarbon chain as it passes through nanoscale defects in the walls of a single-walled carbon nanotube to the vacuum outside, and also to study the interactions between the chain and the nanopore. Based on experiments at 293 K and 4 K we conclude that the major energy source for the molecular motions observed at 4 K is the electron beam used for the imaging.  相似文献

We discovered a slight increase in the velocity of ultrasonic wavesC and other parameters associated withC. We studied materials with charged defects and show that the physical quantity under consideration usually denoted byC may, in some cases, become so high that it loses its physical meaning. It is demonstrated that the discovered effects are similar to the variations of heat conductivity of liquid helium. A new deformable mirror control system is developed. This system consists of a deformable mirror, a CCD camera, an image processor, a computer, and actuator drive power supplies. A genetic algorithm is adopted as a control algorithm to obtain an optimum surface profile of the deformable mirror. A circular cross-sectional Gaussian beam was transformed into a beam with a rectangular contour using this system. Although the transfer function of this system is complicated and unknown, this system can be used to obtain the optimum beam profile within the achievable limits of a deformable mirror.  相似文献
