光纤中基于SBS实现慢光的数值研究   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
通过运用带有预测.校正的隐格式有限差分法对基于光纤的受激布里渊散射耦合方程组进行了数值求解.在增益0~16范围内考察了布里渊增益系数、增益带宽以及有效模面积对时间延迟和脉冲展宽的影响.结果表明,较小的增益系数和增益带宽、较大的有效模面积使得Stokes信号具有更大的饱和增益值,相应的时间延迟也较大.在固定泵浦功率并保证增益参数在小信号范围的情况下,时间延迟及脉冲展宽因子随着增益系数的增加而增加,但随着增益带宽以及有效模面积的增加而减少.  相似文献

Based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS), the slow light effect in photonic crystal fibre (PCF), which is filled with highly nonlinear liquid-carbon disuphide in the core region, is investigated. Maximum allowable pump power for undistorted output pulse, minimum value of pump power required to initiate the SBS effect, Brillouin gain and time-tonic delay experienced by the pulse in the designed liquid-core photonic crystal fibre, are all calculated numerically. We have found that the maximum time-delay up to ~134.4 ns at 1.064 μm can be obtained using 1 m long liquid-core PCF pumped with only 65.8 mW, which is lower than the value reported in the literature for achieving such a high delay time. The results indicate that liquid-core PCF is capable of generating tunable time-delay that is adjusted by the pump power and structural parameters of the proposed liquid-core PCF.  相似文献

The threshold value and pulse duration of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) have been measured over the temperature range 10–45°C in liquid water. Also, a theoretical analysis based on the temperature dependence of SBS has been carried out. The results show that the threshold value of SBS decreases with an increase of temperature, whereas the measured pulse duration increases with an increase of temperature.  相似文献

An organic l-Arginine phosphate monohydrate (LAP) crystal showed a much lower stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) threshold at 1.06-mum wavelength than fused silica and a higher SBS reflectivity of approximately 65%, which is limited because of its absorbance. The reason LAP crystal has a high damage threshold at Q -switched pulse operation is due to SBS backward reflectance. The LAP crystal is interesting not only as a frequency converter but also as a phase-conjugated SBS mirror for all solid-state high-energy lasers because of its high SBS gain coefficient.  相似文献

By considering the Guassian transversal distribution of intracavity photon density and the longitudinal distribution of photon density along the cavity axis as well as the influence of the turn-off time of the acousto-optic Q switch, we introduce the coupled rate equations of a laser-diode, end-pumped, double Q-switched laser with an acousto-optic modulator and GaAs saturable absorber. In addition the thermal effect of the gain medium is taken into account. These coupled rate equations are solved numerically, and the dependence of pulse width on incident pump power at different pulse repetition rates is obtained for the generated output pulses. It is shown that the pulse duration is obviously shorter in contrast to the actively Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser with an acoustic-optic modulator, and the maximum compression ratio of the pulse width is more than 60%. In the experiment a laser-diode, end-pumped, double Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser with both an acousto-optic modulator and GaAs is realized, and the experimental results agree with the numerical solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, we report a long cavity passively mode-locked fibre laser. The proposed mode locker is a reflective long cavity non-linear optical loop mirror (NOLM) which consists of a 50:50 coupler and 2-km single-mode fibres. The laser achieves stable mode locking at a fundamental repetition rate of 100 kHz. The rectangular pulses operating in dissipative soliton resonance region is generated in the laser. The relationship between the pulse duration and the pump power is investigated in detail. When the pump power is 200 mW, the laser generates rectangular pulses at 1565.57 nm (central wavelength) with pulse duration of 81.5 ns. The single pulse energy as high as 33.34 nJ is obtained. The results show that the reflective NOLM is an efficient mode locker and useful for the generation of high energy pulse.  相似文献

The effects of backward, forward, and bidirectional Raman pumping schemes on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is investigated in this study. By using a linear cavity, we utilize residual Brillouin pump (BP) and Raman pump (RP) power after each transmission through a 25 km single-mode fiber (SMF) used as a gain medium. The SBS threshold power is reduced in the forward, backward, and bidirectional Raman pumping schemes by 2.5, 1.75, and 2.75 dB, respectively when the 1480 nm RP power is fixed at 150 mW and the BP wavelength is 1580 nm. Surprisingly, it is revealed that the SBS threshold reduction depends strongly and solely on Raman gain and it is independent of the Raman pumping schemes. In addition, the effect of Raman amplification on SBS is more effective at the SBS threshold, especially in the bidirectional and forward schemes.  相似文献

Stokes pulses of high energy and high-average power were obtained by stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) compression of long Nd:YAG laser pulses. The SBS medium used in the single-cell compressor was liquid ultrafiltered Fluorinert FC-75 fluorocarbon. An output pulse duration of 0.9 ns and a peak-power enhancement by 1 order of magnitude were observed for 10-ns, 0.57-J input pulses at a 10-Hz repetition rate. The compressor internal SBS efficiency reached a value of eta(SBS) = 94% and the overall device efficiency a value of eta(dev) = 87%; both values are the highest reported so far to the best of our knowledge. The simple single-cell SBS geometry provided excellent energy and pointing stability of the Stokes pulse. Its temporal shape turned out to be somewhat less stable. The SBS process also partially improved the laser beam quality. The Stokes pulses proved to be capable of generating radiation in the extreme-ultraviolet and soft-x-ray regions over a period of two months without any significant output deterioration.  相似文献

The quasi-light-storage (QLS) is a method for the variable and almost distortion free storage of optical data which is based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS). The natural gain bandwidth of SBS limits the storage time of this method to up to 100?ns. We overcome this limit by the superposition of the SBS gain bandwidth with two losses. With this narrowed gain bandwidth, we were able to enhance the storage time for the QLS by 40%.  相似文献

利用可控脉冲声信号,采用回波方法,在圆形声管中测量了样本材料的吸声系数.依据回波信号和入射声波的功率谱密度先解算反射系数,然后计算吸声系数.与B&K 4206阻抗管测量结果相比,在200 Hz~5 kHz频段内吸声系数差别在10%以内.所用脉冲声具有波形规则、脉冲时间短、频带宽的特点,测量精度比同类方法显著提高,特别是低频区域数据可靠.测量系统装置简单、重复性好.测量装置的不确定度主要源于样品在声管中安装的精密性.  相似文献

Abstract

An approach that introducing a standing wave into focal area to stabilize the output energy and duration of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) compression is presented. An interferometric scheme filled with FC-770 is used to improve the stability of both output energy and duration two times compared with an equivalent conventional SBS compressor. In this paper we present, for the first time to our knowledge, a new pulse shaping technology (modulation schemes for seed laser) used to mitigate pulse narrowing effect and SBS effect in a high energy Er:Yb codoped fiber master oscillator power amplifier system at 1.5 μm to obtain longer pulse duration and higher energy. An average power of over 1.3 W and a pulse energy of over 0.13 mJ were obtained at 10 kHz repetition rate with a pulse duration of 200 ns and near-diffraction-limited beam quality (M(2)<1.2).  相似文献

A large aperture disc amplifier has been designed, set-up and characterized for its performance on small signal gain, spatial variation of gain, and thermal recovery time. This amplifier, consisting of three elliptical Nd: phosphate glass discs of size 214 × 114 × 20 mm mounted at Brewster angle and pumped by ten xenon filled flash lamps of 600 mm arc length, provided a small signal gain of 6 at electrical pump energy of 36 kJ (in a pulse of 450 μs) using an in-house developed dual-polarity capacitor bank based power supply. It was coupled to a high power Nd: phosphate glass laser chain and a maximum output pulse energy exceeding 100 J in a 1·5 ns (FWHM) pulse has been measured. A dry nitrogen gas based cooling system was developed for cooling the glass discs with a thermal recovery time of ∼ 20 minutes.  相似文献

Optical parametric chirped pulse amplifiers offer exciting prospects for generating new extremes in power, intensity, and pulse duration. An experiment is described that was used to investigate the operation of this scheme up to energies approaching a joule, as a step toward its implementation at the petawatt level. The results demonstrate an energy gain of 10(10) with an energy extraction efficiency of 20% and close to diffraction-limited performance. Some spectral narrowing during amplification was shown to be compatible with the time-varying profile of the pump beam and consistent with the measured recompressed pulse durations of 260 and 300 fs before and after amplification, respectively.  相似文献

采用后向泵浦的方案,对新型双程放大分立式光纤拉曼放大器(D-DFRA)的增益特性进行了理论计算,并在双程泵浦放大条件下对增益和噪声特性及受激布里渊散射(SBS)效应进行了实验测量,计算与测量结果较好符合.本文的研究表明:对分立式拉曼放大器通过反射机制实现泵浦光的双程泵浦,可在泵浦功率不变和保持较好噪声特性的同时,大大提升放大器的增益和功率转换效率.增益的提升上限取决于系统受激布里渊散射的阈值,在双程泵浦下增益的上限可得到提高.  相似文献

A laser-diode-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YVO4 green laser with periodically poled KTP (PPKTP) and GaAs saturable absorber has been realized. The dependences of pulse repetition rate, pulse energy, pulse width and peak power on incident pump power for the generated-green-light pulses are measured. At the maximum incident pump power of 4.1 W, the maximum average output power of 113 mW is obtained, corresponding to an optical conversion efficiency of 2.8%. At the same pump power, stable green laser pulses of duration of 44.6 ns and energy of 0.28 µJ are generated at a repetition rate of 403.4 kHz. The coupling wave rate equations for a passively Q-switched laser are also given and the numerical solutions agree with the experimental results.  相似文献

Abstract

Optical amplification of a Brewster-angled stripe travelling-wave laser amplifier operating at 1·3 µm is described. An actively mode-locked external cavity semiconductor laser generating pulses of duration from 11 to 30 ps was used as a signal source. Maximum single-pass gain of 32 dB was attained for an input of ?24 dB m and a maximum output peak power of 25 dB m was measured for an input power of 8 dB m. Narrowing in the amplified pulse was observed on a synchroscan streak camera when the amplifier gain is too weak to sustain constant temporal amplification across the whole pulse  相似文献

High vacuum pump working against atmosphere The OnToolTM Booster vacuum pump consists of side channel and Holweck pump stages, achieves 10−5 mbar (10−3 Pa) pressure and works against atmosphere. Research, which is done on side channel pump stages, shows ways to increase the compression and pumping speed and to reduce their power consumption. The experiments show that rotors with radial blades machined on both sides at the periphery of the rotor have a better performance than rotors with radial blades machined only on one side of the rotor, rotors with semicircular blades or rotors with straight blades. It was also shown that the compression ratio of side channel pump stages depends on the number of radial blades at the periphery of the rotor. The compression ratio of side channel pump stages achieves its maximum at a specific number of radial blades in the rotor Nm = D · km because the momentum and energy transfer from rotor to gas in the side channel has its maximal value with this number of radial blades. Reduction of the axial gaps between the rotor and the stator increases the compression ratio of side channel pump stages as expected due to lower leakage along the gaps.  相似文献

Theoretical investigations of stimulated brillouin scattering-based tunable slow light in (i) Er-doped tellurite and (ii) undoped tellurite fibers are reported. Maximum allowable pump power for undistorted output pulse, Brillouin gain, time-delay, figure-of-merit, and time-delay slop efficiency of both the fibers has been obtained. We have found that (i) Brillouin gain up to ~91 dB and time delay of 140 ns can be achieved using 1100 mW pump power in 2 m Er-doped fiber and (ii) Brillouin gain up to ~86 dB and time delay of ~227 ns using 23 mW pump power in 100 m undoped tellurite fiber can be achieved. Simulated results indicate that the time delay in fibers can be tuned with the pump power to obtain tunable slow light features in these fibers. We feel that detailed theoretical investigations and simulations carried out in the study have potential impact in the design and development of slow light-based photonic devices.  相似文献

We investigate numerically the controllable chirped pulse compression in a one-dimensional photonic structure containing a nematic liquid crystal defect layer using the temperature dependent refractive index of the liquid crystal. We consider the structure under irradiation by near-infrared ultra-short laser pulses polarized parallel to the liquid crystal director at a normal angle of incidence. It is found that the dispersion behaviour and consequently the compression ability of the system can be changed in a controlled manner due to the variation in the defect temperature. When the temperature increased from 290 to 305 K, the transmitted pulse duration decreased from 75 to 42 fs in the middle of the structure, correspondingly. As a result, a novel low-loss tunable pulse compressor with a really compact size and high compression factor is achieved. The so-called transfer matrix method is utilized for numerical simulations of the band structure and reflection/transmission spectra of the structure under investigation.  相似文献
