Signal editing (SE) is a technique used to locate and erase unreliable data before error correction decoding. Consider a concatenated coding (CC) communication system in which the inner code employs convolutional encoding with Viterbi decoding (CEVD) and the outer code could employ either a convolutional or a Reed-Solomon code. In this study, we show that useful information can be derived from the inner Viterbi decoding process to perform two special operations: (i) to locate and erase unreliable decoded data and (ii) to estimate the input channel noise level. As a result, the number of errors input to the outer decoder is reduced and the overall CC system performance is improved.  相似文献

Based on the property that correction coding is more sensitive to the number of errors than the number of erased code symbols, results of an analytical investigation to improve the performance of concatenated coding communications are presented. We propose a new tactic, ‘signal editing’, to estimate and erase unreliable data prior to the final outer decoding process. We show that signal editing has a capability to detect and delete individual erroneous digits that has not been achieved by other methods. As a result, system performance can be markedly improved. Specific recommendations for using the procedure are suggested and discussed. We illustrate how signal editing is implemented in the case of a convolutional code with Viterbi decoding. A new concatenated (or hybrid) coding technique is constructed integrating the code with interleaving and signal editing. Performance improvement is evaluated and analysed. In this study, signal editing is derived from the information available in the Viterbi decoding process. Not limited to convolutional code with Viterbi decoding, signal editing can be applied to other linear codes without any restriction.  相似文献

It is known that concatenated coding can significantly enhance the performance of digital communication systems operating over fading channels when compared to uncoded or single-coded systems. The price to be paid for such an improvement, however, is a substantial increase in the required bandwidth. In this paper, we consider the use of a concatenation scheme in which the inner code is a trellis-coded modulation (TCM) system. The analysis is carried out for two different outer codes: a binary Golay code and a non-binary Reed-Solomon code. Results obtained for the Rayleigh and Rician fading channels through analytical bounds indicate that the use of this system does provide a significant reduction in the bit error probability, a fact that is also verified through computer simulation. Unlike a traditional concatenated system, the proposed method achieves the coding gain while maintaining acceptable bandwidth efficiency.  相似文献

本文提出一种新的综合源编码和信道编码的无线信道图像传输方案,对子波变换后各个子带采用基于统计特性的变系数定长(VCFL)编码,数据经过Reed-Solomon编码后选择不同码率的码率兼容删除卷积码(RCPC)编码以提供不同程度的差错保护(UEP),最后数据经交织后传输。在给定传输的总比特数的情况下,通过优化算法使总体失真最小。模拟结果表明新方案在无线衰落信道上表现出良好的性能。  相似文献

This paper presents a channel estimation and tracking method for correlated block-fading channels in massive MIMO wireless cellular systems. In order to conserve resources, the proposed algorithm requires the uplink pilot signal only once, at the start of communication. By utilizing the temporal correlation between consecutive Resource Blocks (RBs) and the error correction capability of turbo codes, the channel matrix in subsequent RBs is estimated at the Base Station (BS) itself using the uplink data of current the RB and the estimated channel matrix of previous the RB. Compared to existing blind estimation methods, the proposed method places fewer limitations on the system settings such as the number of BS antennas, the number of users, and the number of coherent channel usage compared to existing blind estimation methods. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides better performance for a moderate RB size, a high-order of QAM scheme, and a smaller ratio of the number of BS antennas and mobile terminals (N/K). For a reasonably small N/K (order of 10), the proposed scheme achieves a lower symbol error probability than the conventional pilot-based estimation approach.  相似文献

Digital satellite communication systems use coherent quaternary PSK (QPSK) as the preferred modulation scheme. In recent years, however, the search for bandwidth and power-efficient digital modulation methods has become an active research area. In this paper the performances of combined coding and modulation schemes employing multilevel signal alphabets are considered, in the framework of a system model which reasonably approximates the INTELSAT SCPC system. The main goal of the research was to investigate whether the efficiency of coded modulation schemes and their savings in transmitted power could be maintained in a system environment dominated by interference more than by the additive white Gaussian noise. A second goal was to compare the performance of signals with constant envelope, such as multilevel PSK, with that of signals allowing variations in amplitude, such as multilevel PSK, with that of signals allowing variations in amplitude, such as multilevel QAM. In the paper, we propose a channel model which is reasonably close to the real system, and a method for performance evaluation leading to an estimate of the asymptotic power gain of the modulation systems. The channel model and the method are applied to the analysis of coded 16- and 32- PSK and QAM.  相似文献

A method of coherent detection and channel estimation for punctured convolutional coded binary Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) signals transmitted over a frequency-flat Rayleigh fading channels used for a digital radio broadcasting transmission is presented.Some known symbols are inserted in the encoded data stream to enhance the channel estimation process.The puilot symbols are used to replace the existing parity symbols so no bandwidth expansion is required.An iterative algorithm that uses decoding information as well as the information contained in the known symbols is used to improve the channel parameter estimate.The scheme complexity grows exponentially with the channel estimation filter length,The performance of the system is compared for a normalized fading rate with both perfect coherent detection(Corresponding to a perfect knowledge of the fading process and noise variance)and differential detection of Differential Amplitude Phase Shift Keying (DAPSK).The tradeoff between simplicity of implementation and bit-error-rate performance of different techniques is also compared.  相似文献

该文针对 3个发射天线,1个接收天线的空时分组码系统,提出了频率选择性衰落信道下,无需信道估计,直接对空时分组码进行解码的方法,把子空间方法应用于空时编码当中,从信号处理和空时编码两个方面考虑空时分组码的直接解码问题,利用空时分组码所特有的正交设计,较为方便地从子空间中解出信号信息,从单载波的角度,解决了频率选择性衰落下空时分组码的解码问题。Monte-Carlo仿真给出了直接解码算法的性能,并与使用准确信道信息的解码算法做了性能比较。  相似文献

This paper describes the development of a laboratory test unit that implements a new Type I/II ARQ scheme for use on a land mobile forward satellite link. Investigation of channel characteristics showed that it was possible to use convolutional coding to combat random errors, but it was also necessary to employ an ARQ scheme in order to overcome fades due to signal blockage. The hardware development used commercial 68000-based VME cards as well as special-purpose cards to perform the functions of Viterbi decoding and packet synchronization. Results are presented for the hardware operating with Gaussian noise as time limitations excluded the use of satellite fading simulation. In order to ensure a high degree of data integrity error detection was applied to the data packets such that a residual error rate of less than 10?11 should result. This was not able to be verified due to the limited time. However, long term tests did indicate that an error rate less than 10?8 was achieved.  相似文献

In this paper the bit error performance of trellis-coded quantization/modulation (TCQ/TCM) schemes is derived taking into account the quantization noise over mobile satellite channels with imperfect phase reference. The analytical upper bounds are obtained using the Chernoff bounding technique combined with the modified generating functional approach with no channel state information and no side information on the phase noise process. As an example, 8PSK combined TCQ/TCM is investigated for satellite mobile communication channels with imperfect phase reference. It is shown that the quantization noise effect increases at high signal-to-noise ratio values. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this work, the performance of trellis coded modulations with improved non-coherent receivers is examined for application to personal and mobile satellite communications. The schemes are analysed and evaluated in additive white Gaussian noise, Rayleigh, Rician and shadowed faded channels. Evaluations have shown that the improved non-coherent receivers are capable of providing considerable gains in performance as compared to the conventional differential receivers.  相似文献

As LEO (Low Earth Orbit) high-resolution Earth observation satellite needs to transmit a large amount of remote sensing data from the satellite to the ground station, higher downlink capacity still poses a severe challenge to LEO. Therefore, variable coding and modulation (VCM) has become an important scheme to optimize the performance of satellite downlink. In this paper, the downlink VCM system of China Earth observation satellite is studied for the first time. By evaluating the free space loss of the satellite downlink path, a VCM-based satellite downlink system is designed, and a DVB-S2 BCH-LDPC encoded variable bit rate high-order MAPSK modulator is implemented. The maximum channel bit rate can reach 3.5 Gbps. Then, the experimental results of Gaofen-7 satellite, which was launched in November 2019, are carried out which showed that our design method effectively meets the design requirements, and the performance is verified.  相似文献

A study of reduced complexity concatenated coding schemes, for commercial digital satellite systems with low-cost earth terminals, is reported. The study explored trade-offs between coding gain, overall rate and decoder complexity, and compared concatenated schemes with single codes. It concentrated on short block and constraint length inner codes, with soft decision decoding, concatenated with a range of Reed-Solomon outer codes. The dimension of the inner code was matched to the outer code symbol size, and appropriate interleaving between the inner and outer codes was used. Very useful coding gains were achieved with relatively high-rate, low-complexity schemes. For example, concatenating the soft decision decoded (9,8) single parity check inner code with the CCSDS recommended standard Reed-Solomon outer code gives a coding gain of 4.8dB at a bit error probability of 10?5, with an overall rate of 0-78.  相似文献

The ALOHA protocol has been proposed for accessing reservation channels in demand-assigned channel access protocols for land mobile satellite communications networks. This paper provides a rigorous performance analysis of both the slotted ALOHA protocol and two-packet replication ALOHA protocol taking into account the effects of the fading multipath communications environment. Throughput, delay and stability of these two protocols are determined using a Gilbert channel error model with memory. Comparison of slotted ALOHA and two-packet replication ALOHA shows that a smaller average delay can be achieved by replication. Moreover average throughput is improved in some cases. However replication reduces stability.  相似文献

There are certain data services that could use transmit-only land-mobile satellite communication terminals. Such terminals would not be able to receive acknowledged messages and transmit them onward. Thus it is of interest to study alternative means of improving the system reliability. In this paper we propose the use of transmission to two satellites separated in azimuth and elevation in order to improve the reliability of throughput. We have investigated the improvements by building upon the model proposed by Lutz for land mobile satellite communications via one satellite, and extended this using measurements of the shadowing coefficient in different areas (suburban, countryside and city) to two separated satellites. The measured data is used to produce an empirical model of the equivalent shadowing coefficient variations with the separation angle variation between two satellites. The results show good agreement with the shadowing coefficients produced by the Lutz model for a single satellite. The degree of improvement produced by using two separated satellites in the different environments, in terms of bit rate and probability of the received power is given.  相似文献

在对卫星移动通信信道传播特性进行分析的基础上,综合目前提出的各种卫星移动信道传播模型,提出了一种新的Lognormal—Rice—Rayleigh模型(简称LR^2模型)。从该模型可以推导到其它各种经典的卫星移动信道传播模型,并且具有良好的全波段特性(从UHF到Ka)和实际逼真度。还给出了LR^2模型从UHF到Ka各个波段的仿真效果和参数优化公式,全面分析了与信道模型有关的各种参数如电平通过率(LCR)、平均衰落时长(AFD)、相位分布、误码率、块差错率等,为信道模型的应用作了较全面的阐述。  相似文献

基于正交频分复用(OFDM)系统,提出了一种发射分集方案——比特交织空时频(BI—STF)分组编码。其基本思路是:应用子载波分群方法并选择合适的系统参数,将OFDM系统转化成分群OFDM(G-OFDM),对每个群分别进行空时频分组编码(GSTFBC);在编码比特被重组和映射成GSTF分组编码前进行合理的比特交织,并按一定的规则分配给各个单群子载波进行酉星座旋转(CR)预编码。随后讨论了该方案的频谱利用率和成对错误概率(PEP)。仿真结果表明,同其它编码方案相比,提出的方案能在频率选择性瑞利衰落信道下获得最大的空间分集和频率分集增益,且只有较低的解码复杂性。  相似文献
