In this paper, we studied the output characteristics of optical soliton in a passively mode-locked ytterbium (Yb)-doped fiber laser by numerical simulation. The structure of the passively mode-locked Yb-doped fiber laser was studied by modeling and analysis. The influence of the inter-cavity average group velocity dispersion on pulse width, pulse peak power and single pulse energy of optical soliton and self-similar pulse was investigated. Simulation results were very instructive for the practical application of the passiavely mode-locked Yb-doped fiber lasers.  相似文献

The side-coupler of angle polished method, using angle-polished multimode fiber and optical adhesive, is used to efficiently pump an Yb-doped double-clad fiber laser. The maximum coupling efficiency of 78.6%is achieved by the side-coupler for a multimode fiber with a circular core of 200 μm and a double-clad fiber with a 350/400 μm D-shaped inner cladding. While laser diodes (LDs) with three side-couplers are simultaneously used as pump sources, maximum output power of 1.38 W and slope efficiency of 48.9% are demonstrated in the fiber laser system.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to research the characteristics of the dissipative solitons formed in a passively mode-locked Yb-doped fiber (YDF) laser under limitation of the gain saturation energy. The parabolic shape dissipative solitons with linear chirps are observed in the fiber laser. The influences of the gain saturation energy on pulse duration, peak power and single pulse energy of the dissipative solitons are investigated in-depth.  相似文献

Generation of wavelength tunable transform-limited picosecond pulses from a monolithic passively mode-locked distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) laser is demonstrated for the first time. Optimum low-noise operation modes of a passively mode-locked fiber laser are described and characterized. The laser produces 60 fs bandwidth limited pulses with root mean square amplitude fluctuations of 0.4% in a frequency-band from 30 Hz to 100 kHz. It is shown that low-noise operation up to 5 dB below the amplitude noise of the pump laser is possible with overall negative cavity group-velocity dispersion and a large difference between the intracavity loss under free-running and mode-locked laser operation. Additional frequency stabilization reduces the timing jitter to 4 fs in a frequency band from 1 kHz to 100 kHz and 110 fs in the 30 Hz to 100 kHz band  相似文献

High-power side-pumped passively mode-locked Er-Yb fiber laser   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
A side-pumped double-clad Er-Yb fiber laser passively mode-locked with a saturable absorber is demonstrated for the first time. Pumped with a power of 1 W from a broad-stripe diode laser, an environmentally stable cavity design produces positively chirped 3-ps pulses at a repetition rate of 30 MHz with an average output power of 50 mW. The pulses can be linearly compressed to 330 fs in a length of negative dispersion fiber, whereas nonlinear compression in standard telecom fibers yields 130-fs pulses with pulse energies of 1.2 nJ  相似文献

Optical soliton communication is the frontier research topic of optical fiber communication. In this paper, we study optical solitons generated by passively mode-locked Erbium-doped (Er-doped) fiber (EDF) laser. We analyze the variation of nonlinear equilibrium point parameter N of the passively mode-locked EDF laser in the role of group-velocity dispersion (GVD) and small-signal gain, and adjusting system parameter N is as close as to possible to 1. The ground state first-order optical soliton which generated through system parameter optimization of the passively mode-locked EDF laser will improve the efficiency and stability of optical soliton communication system. The research of this paper will have provided the theoretical foundation of parameter optimization in a passively mode-locked EDF laser. And it will be possible for the passively mode-locked fiber laser in optical fiber communication system to be applied from the laboratory stage to the practical application.  相似文献

A neodymium glass laser system capable of generating high-energy, ultrashort pulses at a convenient repetition rate is described. The effect of nonlinear frequency pulling on active mode locking is discussed. By minimizing the nonlinear frequency pulling, it is possible to routinely generate stable ~10-ps pulses at a 100-MHz repetition rate from the actively mode-locked oscillator. The regenerator amplifier increases the oscillator pulse energy to over 30 μJ at a 370-Hz repetition rate. Using intracavity self-phase modulation, the regenerative amplifier also broadens the pulse bandwidth to ~35 Å. By subsequent pulse compression while maintaining high energy, it is possible to produce 0.55-ps pulses with >10 μJ. An optical fiber pulse compressor further shortens the pulses to 30 fs (30 nJ), the shortest pulses ever generated at 1.054 μm from a neodymium laser system  相似文献

We present and analyze a model of a passively mode-locked laser, which is subjected to injection of a coherent pulse train. The model, based on soliton perturbation theory, predicts the possibility of coherent injection locking, and gives analytical estimates for the locking ranges. The ability to simultaneously lock the timing and the phase of the output pulses of a mode-locked laser to an injected, coherent pulse train is shown. The interesting limiting case of phase locking the mode-locked laser to a constant amplitude external injection, is addressed with implications for future coherent soliton communication systems  相似文献

<正>In this paper, we have demonstrated an Er-doped ultrafast laser with a single mode fiber-gradient index multimode fiber-single mode fiber(SMF-GIMF-SMF, SMS) structure as saturable absorber(SA), which can generate not only stable single-pulse state, but also special mode-locked pulses with the characteristics of high energy and noisy behaviors at proper pump power and cavity polarization state. In addition, we have deeply investigated the real-time spectral evolutions of the mode-locked pulses through the dispersive Fourier transformation(DFT) technique. It can be found that the pulse regime can actually consist of a lot of small noise pulses with randomly varying intensities. We believe that these results will further enrich the nonlinear dynamical processes in the ultrafast lasers.  相似文献

A ring-shaped all fiber tunable Yb-doped fiber laser with tuning range over 20 nm is demonstrated by using a fiber Mach-Zenhder interferometer as an intra-cavity filter which is constructed with two 3-dB optical couplers. The method for fabricating the fiber Mach-Zenhder interferometer is detailed. The fiber laser has a moderate milli-Watt level output power over the whole tuning range from 1050 to 1071 nm, a side-band suppression ratio greater than 45 dB, and a bandwidth less than 0.1 nm.  相似文献

In this paper, the characteristics of soliton in a passively mode-locked Er-doped fiber laser modeled by a non-distributed model are numerically investigated with the split-step Fourier method. Based on the analysis and model, sech2-shaped soliton is obtained by controlling the group velocity dispersion (GVD) and small-signal gain of the gain fiber. The law that the dispersion influences the characteristics of soliton in the mode-locked fiber laser is researched in net-cavity averaged anomalous dispersion regime.  相似文献

The noise-like pulses(NLPs)with tunable fraction of the pedestal height in the whole intensity autocorrelation(AC)trace are numerically demonstrated in the designed erbium-doped fiber(EDF)mode-locked laser,which contains the saturable absorber(SA)with nonlinear polarization rotation(NPR),sinusoidal-shaped or Gaussian-shaped filter,two segments of EDFs,and two pieces of single-mode fibers(SMFs)with normal dispersion and anomalous dispersion,re-spectively.The pedestal ratio of the intensity AC trace can be tuned by changing the gain saturation energies of EDFs.The results show that when the net cavity dispersion is 1.06 ps2,the tuning range of the pedestal ratio for the NLPs can reach its maximum values,which are 0.51-0.89 and 0.58-0.88 for the sinusoidal-shaped and Gaussian-shaped fil-ters,respectively.In addition,an appropriate choice of filter bandwidth is also conducive to obtain a wide range of the tuning pedestal ratio for the intensity AC trace.  相似文献

Knowledge and control of the chirp parameters of semiconductor lasers is a prerequisite to obtaining transform-limited pulses and/or to compensate for group velocity dispersion in fiber. Here, we report measurements of the sign and magnitude of chirp in high-repetition-rate mode-locked semiconductor lasers. The chirp of these monolithic lasers is measured in the frequency domain, using filtering and cross-correlation techniques. For different injection currents, a range of different chirp values is measured, including strongly down-chirped pulses at higher injection currents and transform-limited pulses to slightly up-chirped pulses at lower injection currents. The pulse chirp and the resulting broadening are due to the algebraic addition of opposite-signed chirps due to saturation of the absorption section and the gain section. These may cancel each other under some conditions, leading to a soliton-like transform-limited pulse  相似文献
