Single crystals of l-lysine hydrochloride dihydrate (LLHCD), a nonlinear optical material, have been grown by slow cooling technique from its aqueous solution. LLHCD was found to be highly soluble in water. The grown crystals have been subjected to single crystal X-ray diffraction to confirm the structure and to estimate the lattice parameters. The vibrational structure of the molecule is elucidated from FTIR spectra. Thermal analysis revealed the thermal stability of the grown crystals. The optical transmittance spectrum shows that the material possesses good optical transparency in the entire visible region with a UV cut-off wavelength at 228 nm. The mechanical properties of the grown crystal have been studied using Vicker's microhardness test. The laser damage threshold of 52.25 MW/cm2 has been measured by irradiating Q-switched Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm).  相似文献

Single crystals of 2-amino-5-nitropyridinium-toluenesulfonate (2A5NPT) were grown by the slow cooling method. The unit cell dimensions were determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The thermal parameters - thermal diffusivity (α), thermal effusivity (e), thermal conductivity (K) and heat capacity (Cp) of 2A5NPT were measured by an improved photopyroelectric technique at room temperature. Single and multiple shot experiments performed on the grown crystals for the second harmonic of pulsed Nd:YAG laser (532 nm) show that it exhibits a high laser damage threshold which is a favorable property for nonlinear optical applications. Dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the grown crystal were evaluated for the frequency range 1 kHz-1 MHz in the temperature region 40-130 °C. Hardness values were measured using Vickers hardness measurement.  相似文献

A novel noncentrosymmetric crystal was prepared from 1,3-dimethylurea dimethylammonium picrate, C11H18N6O8 (DMUP), which was designed for second harmonic generation. DMUP crystals exist in noncentro symmetric space group Cmc21 with unit cell dimensions a = 14.288(4) Å, b = 17.023(5) Å, c = 6.8268(13) Å, α = β = γ = 90° and volume = 1660.5(8) Å3. The crystal structure of DMUP has been determined using single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The single crystals of DMUP were successfully grown by the slow evaporation method with dimensions 10 mm × 4 mm × 3 mm using dimethylformamide as solvent. The structural perfection of the grown crystals has been analysed by High-resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) rocking curve measurements. Powder test with Neodymium-doped Yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser radiation shows a high second harmonic generation (SHG). The laser induced surface damage threshold for the grown crystal was measured using Nd:YAG laser.  相似文献

Pure KDP single crystals and KDP crystals doped with TiO2 nanocrystals were grown by the method of temperature reduction from aqueous solutions. Adsorption of the phosphate-ions on the surface of TiO2 particles was studied by FTIR spectroscopy. It was shown that the nanoparticles with adsorbed H2PO4 and (H2PO4)22–anions were incorporated predominantly into the positively charged face (1 0 1) of the pyramidal sector of KDP. High-resolution X-ray three-crystal diffractometry (TCD) investigation of the as grown samples of KDP + TiO2 revealed the presence of the turns of the growth layer “stacks” up to 3 arcsec in the growth sectors {1 0 0} and {1 0 1}. The observed thickness of these “stacks” was of the order of 20–30 μm. For KDP + TiO2 crystals there was found a relative change of the crystal lattice parameter (Δd/d) caused by incorporation of TiO2 nanoparticles into the boundaries of the growth layers. This gave rise to the formation of a semicoherent binding on the interface between the captured TiO2 and the matrix. No essential influence of the nanoparticles on the laser damage threshold of KDP with 10−5 wt.% of TiO2 was established.  相似文献

A noncentrosymmetric crystal was prepared from 2-amino-5-nitropyridine (2A5NP) and p-Phenolsulfonic acid, which was designed for second harmonic generation. Good quality single crystals of 2-amino-5-nitropyridinium Phenolsulfonate (2A5NPP) were successfully grown by the slow evaporation method with dimensions 10 × 4 × 3 mm3. The unit cell dimensions were determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The structural perfection of the grown crystals has been analyzed by high-resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) rocking curve measurements. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectral studies have been performed to identify the functional groups. The optical transmittance window and the lower cutoff wavelength of the 2A5NPP have been identified by UV-vis-NIR studies. Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) were used to study its thermal properties. Powder test with Nd:YAG laser radiation shows a high second harmonic generation. The laser induced surface damage threshold for the grown crystal was measured using Nd:YAG laser.  相似文献

Unidirectional <001> bulk ferroelectric Tri glycine sulphate (TGS) single crystal of diameter 18 mm and length 150 mm was successfully grown by SR method. The grown TGS single crystal was characterized using etching, Vicker's microhardness, TG-DTA and UV-Vis analysis. The TGS crystals grown by SR method have higher hardness than conventional method grown crystals. Dislocation density (DD) is less in SR grown crystal compared to conventional method grown TGS crystals. The transmittance of SR grown TGS is 8% higher than that of the conventional grown crystal.  相似文献

The organic nonlinear optical crystal of N-Bromosuccinimide (NBS) was grown by slow cooling solution growth technique using methanol as solvent. Single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectral analyses were carried out to confirm the NBS crystals. The ultra violet (UV)-Visible and photoluminescence spectral studies were carried out, the green band at 2.02 eV can be attributed to radiative recombination between deep donors and shallow acceptors. The second harmonic generation (SHG) behaviour of NBS was tested by Kurtz-Perry powder technique. The hardness behaviour, laser damage threshold and dielectric characteristics of NBS crystals were studied.  相似文献

Reported large nonlinear optical coefficients such as d22 = 23.8d36KDP, d21 = 13.5d36KDP, d23 = 29.1d36KDP, d25 = 12.8d36KDP of 3-methoxy 4-hydroxy benzaldehyde (MHBA) attract research on its bulk crystal growth for device application. The X-ray rocking and X-ray topographic studies of Cz-grown organic monoclinic crystals invariably reveal closely aligned sub-crystals which made melt growth difficult. In this context, the single crystal growth of MHBA by Czochralski pulling technique has been successfully demonstrated for the first time in the literature. Comparison study of obtained X-ray powder diffraction data with the literature confirmed the monoclinic structure. High-resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) study confirms the better crystalline perfection of the grown crystal in comparison to that of solution-grown crystals and revealed the optimization of the growth process along [211¯] direction. TG, DTA and optical transmission studies carried out on the grown crystal exhibit its thermal and optical properties for SHG application.  相似文献

Good quality, pure and ammonium chloride added < 1 0 0> directed ADP single crystals with different sizes were grown by Sankaranarayanan-Ramasamy method with the vision to improve the properties of the crystal. The grown crystals have cylindrical morphology and the crystals were subjected to UV-Vis., DTA, microhardness, laser damage threshold, dielectric, piezoelectric and SHG studies. The addition of ammonium chloride improves the quality and yields crystals with transparency more than 80% in minimum duration of growth. Higher laser damage threshold and mechanical stability were observed in ammonium chloride added ADP crystals. Low dielectric loss shows that the grown crystal contains minimum defects. Good piezoelectric behaviour was observed for the grown crystals. The SHG efficiency of the crystals was obtained using Nd-YAG laser, which is approximately 3 times that of pure ADP and shows the suitability of the ingot for nonlinear optical applications.  相似文献

The organic dyes (Amaranth, Rhodamine B and Methyl Orange) are doped in Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate crystals. Influences of supersaturation and dye concentration in the solution, on the color and crystal habit of Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate, were observed. Amaranth in the solution at low super saturation and high dye concentration colored the pyramidal section (1 0 1) of the crystals. The highly super saturated solutions produce entirely colored crystals. Dyes doped Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate crystals were also grown by solution growth technique. The concentration of dopants in the mother solution was varied from 0.1 to 10 mol%. The studies on pure and doped Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate crystals clearly indicate the effect of dopants on the crystal structure, in the absorption of IR frequencies and the non-linear optical property. The frequencies with their relative intensities are obtained in Fourier Transform-Infrared spectra of pure and doped Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate. The very weak bands for dopants indicate its presence in low concentration. The absence of even such a weak band in the case of Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate doped with Amaranth indicates the strong interaction with O-H groups. The calculated IR frequency 3333 cm−1 for O-H stretching was in close agreement with the experimentally obtained one for pure Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate at 3340 cm−1.The doped crystals show good second harmonic generation efficiency. The dopants increase the hardness value of the material, which also depends on the concentration of the dopants. Dye doping improves the Nonlinear Optical properties of the grown crystals. Results of the growth kinetics of Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate crystals in the presence of impurities are also discussed.  相似文献

Novel organic nonlinear optical material 4-hydroxy-N-methyl 4-stilbazolium besylate has been synthesized and 7 mm × 5 mm × 3 mm size crystals were grown by slow evaporation technique. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the crystal lattice is monoclinic. From powder X-ray diffraction analysis the diffraction planes have been indexed. Fourier transform infrared spectrum for our sample confirms the presence of functional groups in the grown crystal. Second harmonic efficiency was determined using Kurtz powder method in comparison with urea to confirm the nonlinearity of the material. The results are discussed in detail.  相似文献

Single crystals of thiourea metal complexes with selected Group II metal ions, Zinc and Cadmium, have been grown by solvent evaporation technique. The crystals grown are bisthiourea zinc chloride (BTZC) and bisthiourea cadmium chloride (BTCC). Following an improved photopyroelectric technique, the thermal transport properties have been determined. It is found that BTCC has a higher heat capacity (304.09 J kg−1 K−1) than BTZC (255.24 J kg−1 K−1), and hence BTCC has better thermal stability. Vicker's microhardness measurements reveal that these materials have reverse indentation size effect and belong to the category of soft materials. Elastic stiffness is found to be higher for BTCC (1.57 GPa) than BTZC (0.76 GPa). The roles of the Group II metal ions in improving the mechanical and thermal stability of the metal complexes are discussed. Multi-shot laser damage studies on these materials reveal that BTCC has a higher laser damage threshold (15 GW cm−2) than BTZC (6 GW cm−2).  相似文献

Ethyl P-amino benzoate (EPAB) is also known as benzocaine was recently identified as new organic non linear optical (NLO) material which is having nearly six times higher SHG efficiency than that of KDP. Hence, growth of unidirectional EPAB crystal gains importance for phase matching studies and this is the first melt growth report of EPAB single crystal. Seeding with the microtube in the present technique eliminates the need for pre-grown seed and has more probability to grow bulk single crystal. Growth direction of the μT-Cz grown EPAB single crystals was identified as <100> using X-ray powder diffraction studies. Thermal properties and optical transparency of the grown material were analyzed by TG and DTA and UV-VIS spectroscopic studies respectively. Laser damage threshold study shows nearly five times high damage threshold than KDP.  相似文献

2-Aminopyridinium trichloroacetate, a novel organic optical material has been synthesized and crystals were grown from aqueous solution employing the technique of controlled evaporation. 2-Aminopyridinium trichloroacetate crystallizes in monoclinic system with space group P21/c and the lattice parameters are a = 8.598(5) Å, b = 11.336(2) Å, c = 11.023(2) Å, β = 102.83(1)° and volume = 1047.5(3) Å3. High-resolution X-ray diffraction measurements were performed to analyze the structural perfection of the grown crystals. Thermal analysis shows a sharp endothermic peak at 124 °C due to melting reaction of 2-aminopyridinium trichloroacetate. UV-vis-NIR studies reveal that 2-aminopyridinium trichloroacetate has UV cutoff wavelength at 354 nm. Dielectric studies show that dielectric constant and dielectric loss decreases with increasing frequency and finally it becomes almost a constant at higher frequencies for all temperatures. The negative nonlinear optical parameters of 2-aminopyridinium trichloroacetate were derived by the Z-scan technique.  相似文献

0 0 1 directed potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate (KDP) single crystal was grown by Sankaranarayanan–Ramasamy (SR) method. The 0 0 1 oriented seed crystals were mounted at the bottom of the platform and the size of the crystals were 10 mm diameter, 110 mm height. Two different growths were tried, in one the crystal diameter was the ampoule's inner diameter and in the other the crystal thickness was less than the ampoule diameter. In the first case only the top four pyramidal faces were existing whereas in the second case the top four pyramidal faces and four prismatic faces were existing through out the growth. The crystals were grown using same stoichiometric solution. The results of the two growths are discussed in this paper. The grown crystals were characterized by high-resolution X-ray diffractometry (HRXRD), laser damage threshold, dielectric, thermal analysis, UV–vis spectroscopy and microhardness studies. The HRXRD analysis indicates that the crystalline perfection is excellent without having any very low angle internal structural grain boundaries. Laser damage threshold value has been determined using Nd:glass laser operating at 1054 nm. The damage threshold for the KDP crystal is greater than 4.55 GW cm−2. The dielectric constant was higher and the dielectric loss was less in SR method grown crystal as against conventional method grown crystal. In thermal analysis, the starting of decomposition nature is similar in SR method grown KDP crystal and conventional method grown crystal. The SR method grown KDP has higher transmittance and higher hardness value compared to conventional method grown crystals.  相似文献

Single crystals of a novel organic material, dimethylaminobenzophenone were grown from aqueous solution employing the technique of controlled evaporation. Dimethylaminobenzophenone belongs to the monoclinic system, with a = 12.5755(7) Å, b = 7.9749(4) Å, c = 13.0946(7) Å, α = 90°, β = 111.6380(10)° and γ = 90°. Fourier transform infrared study has been performed to identify the functional groups. The transmittance of dimethylaminobenzophenone has been used to calculate the refractive index n; the extinction coefficient K and both the real ?r and imaginary ?i components of the dielectric constant as functions of photon energy. The optical band gap of dimethylaminobenzophenone is 2.9 eV. The structural prefection of the grown crystals has been analyzed by high-resolution X-ray diffraction rocking curve measurements. Thermo gravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis have also been carried out, and the thermal behavior of dimethylaminobenzophenone crystal has been studied. The dielectric properties and mechanical properties have been investigated.  相似文献

Pure and urea doped (with 3 different concentrations, viz. 0.005, 0.05, and 0.1 M) strontium formate dihydrate (SFD, Sr(HCOO)2·2H2O) single crystals were grown from aqueous solutions by using slow solvent evaporation technique. In order to understand the effect of urea doping on the structural, chemical, thermal, morphological, optical properties of SFD crystals, the grown crystals were characterized by carrying out CHN analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, high resolution X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectral, thermogravimetric, UV–Vis–NIR spectral, photoluminescence spectral, second harmonic generation efficiency, and Z-scan measurements. The results obtained indicate that the urea molecule have entered into the SFD crystal matrix and has improved the crystallinity. Also, the results indicate that urea doping significantly tunes the optical and thermal properties without significantly distorting the crystal structure of SFD crystal. The laser damage threshold (LDT) energy for the grown crystal has been measured by using a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser as a source in single-shot mode (1064 nm, 10 Hz, 420 mJ). The result of laser damage threshold (LDT) energy indicates that grown title crystal has excellent resistance to laser radiation than those of some known inorganic NLO materials. Its third-order nonlinear optical properties were investigated by Z-scan technique and proved that the grown crystal possesses two-photon absorptions (TPA) and the self-defocusing effect.  相似文献

Glycinium oxalate (GOX) single crystals were grown by slow cooling solution growth method. The X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infra red studies confirm the grown crystal. The hardness values of GOX are found to be higher than glycine. The increase in hardness may be due to the C-H---O bonding. The UV-Visible studies show that GOX crystals can be used for nonlinear applications. The dielectric measurement indicates that the GOX crystals have domains of varying sizes and varying relaxation time. The SHG output of GOX was 210 mV at given pulse energy of 5 mJ/s and KDP was 240 mV.  相似文献

Cuprous iodide (CuI) crystals are grown by slow evaporation technique in three different solvents. Large CuI single crystals with dimensions of 7.5 mm × 5 mm × 3 mm are obtained in pure acetonitrile solvent at 40 °C. The as-grown crystals are analyzed by X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, current-voltage characteristic and photoluminescence spectrum. The results show that the CuI crystal has the zinc-blende structure with no secondary phase. The elemental Cu/I ratio is 1.09:1. The melting point of the crystal is 875 K and two phase transitions occur from room temperature to its melting point. The electrical conductivity of CuI platelet crystal is in the range of 1.11-2.38 Ω−1 cm−1. Under ultraviolet excitation, the CuI crystals exhibit three emission bands with peak positions at 426, 529 and 671 nm. The nature of the luminescence is discussed.  相似文献
