Experiments were conducted to determine the nature of the interaction of high levels of vitamin A and vitamin E-selenium nutrition in the chicken. Results showed that chicks were protected from the vitamin E-selenium deficiency disease exudative diathesis (ED) by a high dietary level of vitamin A (1.0 X 10(6) IU/kg) which moderately depressed growth. A greater concentration (1.5 X 10(6) IU/kg) of vitamin A in the diets of hens fed a low vitamin E diet hastened their depletion of plasma tocopherols and increased plasma glutathione peroxidase (GSH-px) activity. At hatching the progeny of vitamin A-fed hens were severely depleted of plasma tocopherols but had normal plasma GSH-px activities. They showed increased susceptibility to ED when fed selenium-deficient, vitamin E-free diets for 2 weeks. Absorption studies using ligated duodenal loops or oral doses indicated that high-level dietary vitamin A promoted the enteric absorption of selenium but interfered with the absorption of vitamin E. The dual nature of these effects was related to the ED-protective influence of vitamin A when fed to chicks, and the ED-stimulative influence on progeny when vitamin A was fed to dams.  相似文献

Two experiments were conducted to investigate the factors responsible for the adverse effects of guanidinated proteins on feed intake in chickens. In Experiment 1, male broiler chicks were fed one of five purified diets containing casein or guanidinated casein (G-casein) as the sole source of protein (230 g crude protein/kg diet) from d 6 to 13 post-hatching. A casein-based diet containing 17.2 g lysine/kg, served as the control. In the experimental diets, casein was substituted by G-casein and lysine was added at 0, 5.6, 11.4 and 17.0 g/kg diet, respectively. Feed intake and weight gains of chicks fed the G-casein diet without added lysine were markedly depressed (P < 0.05), but this depression was largely overcome by additional lysine. The intake and gains of chicks fed the G-casein diet plus 17.0 g lysine/kg were lower (P < 0.05) than those fed the G-casein diet plus 11.4 g lysine/kg and this was associated with a higher plasma lysine:arginine ratio. Tissue analysis showed that homoarginine is distributed throughout body tissues following absorption. Brain lysine concentrations were lower (P < 0.05) in chicks fed diets containing G-casein without added lysine, but increased (P < 0.05) with supplemental lysine. In Experiment 2, the effect of homoarginine per se on feed intake was investigated in two short-term intake studies using 5-wk-old broiler chickens. Significant (P < 0.05) depressions in feed intake were observed within the first hour after oral administration of 400 mg homoarginine-HCl. The results suggest that both lysine deficiency and homoarginine per se were responsible for the adverse effects of guanidinated proteins on feed intake in chickens.  相似文献

Two experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of varying levels of pantothenic acid on the efficiency of energy utilization and changes in body composition of the growing chick. The results indicate that a pantothenic acid deficiency does not interfere with the chick's ability to obtain metabolizable energy from the diet. The data do show that the efficiency of energy utilization and body composition were markedly affected when chicks were fed diets deficient in pantothenic acid. In both experiments, protein, fat and energy stores were significantly reduced when pantothenic acid-deficient diets were fed. Increased estimates of heat increment per gram of diet were observed when levels of pantothenic acid below the N.R.C. (1971) recommended level of 10 mg. per kg of diet were fed.  相似文献

The digestibility and bioavailability of amino acids (AA) in meat and bone meals (MBM) may vary greatly due to different processing conditions. In the present study, two experiments were conducted to evaluate formulation of diets containing high or low quality MBM on a total AA basis vs a digestible or bioavailable AA basis compared to a corn-soybean meal control diet. Lysine, methionine, and cystine digestibilities (precision-fed cecectomized rooster assay) were 92, 91, and 71%, respectively, for high quality MBM and were 71, 83, and 31%, respectively, for the low quality MBM. Bioavailability values (slope-ratio chick growth assay) for TSAA in the two MBM were approximately 15 percentage units lower than the digestibility values. Male crossbred chicks were fed a 20% CP corn-SBM diet or corn-SBM diets containing 10 or 20% high or low quality MBM that were formulated to be equal in total, digestible, or bioavailable AA to the corn-SBM diet. All diets contained 3,200 kcal of TMEn/kg, 1.4% Ca, and 0.7% nonphytate P and were fed to chicks from 8 to 22 d posthatching. Growth performance of chicks fed 10 or 20% high or low quality MBM on a total AA basis was lower (P < 0.05) than that of chicks fed the corn-SBM diet. Growth of chicks fed 10% low quality MBM or 10 or 20% high quality MBM on a digestible or bioavailable basis was equivalent to that of chicks fed the corn-SBM diet; however, dietary inclusion of 20% low quality MBM depressed growth (P < 0.05) even on a digestible or bioavailable AA basis. Further supplementation of the latter diet with additional AA yielded growth that was similar to the corn-SBM control diet. The results indicated that formulation of diets containing MBM on a digestible or bioavailable AA basis is superior to formulation on a total AA basis. However, feeding high levels of a low quality MBM may require additional AA supplementation to obtain maximum chick growth.  相似文献

A chick growth assay was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary L-homoarginine supplementation on performance of chicks fed a Lys-deficient corn-feather meal diet. Weight gain, feed intake, and feed efficiency increased linearly (P < .01) as Lys was added at .1 and .2% from feed-grade L-Lys.HCl. Adding homoarginine at .2% resulted in less (P < .05) weight gain and feed intake than observed in chicks fed the unsupplemented basal diet. These data suggest that dietary homoarginine had no Lys bioactivity, but may also have antagonized Lys utilization from the basal diet.  相似文献

The effect of egg yolk fatty acid composition on the uptake and utilization of essential n-6 and n-3 fatty acids by the developing chick embryo was studied. Eggs were enriched with n-9, n-3, or n-6 fatty acids by incorporating sunflower seed high in oleic acid (C18:1 n-9), flax seed rich in linolenic acid (C18:3 n-3), or sunflower seed high in linoleic acid (C18:2 n-6) into the laying hen diets. Fertile eggs were collected and incubated. The fatty acid composition of eggs and newly hatched chicks were compared. Feeding diets containing flax seed increased (P < .05) total n-3 fatty to 528.4 mg compared with 53.9 and 39.3 mg for eggs from hens fed diets with high oleic acid or regular sunflower seed, respectively. Levels of C18:2 n-6 and monounsaturated fatty acids were higher in eggs from hens fed diets containing regular or high oleic acid sunflower seeds. Dietary fat did not influence the total lipid content of the egg yolk or total lipids of chick tissues. The fatty acid composition of the hatched progeny was significantly altered by egg yolk lipids. However, the percentage incorporation of essential n-6 and n-3 fatty acids into the progeny increased when yolk sources of these fatty acids were low. The developing chick embryo appeared to preferentially take up docosahexaenoic acid and arachidonic acid from the yolk lipids. Evidence also suggests that conversion of C18:2 n-6 and C18:2 n-3 to longer chain n-3 or n-6 fatty acids occurs during the incubation period.  相似文献

Three experiments were conducted to study the effect of varying levels of dietary copper on fatty acid composition of adipose and liver tissue of male broiler chicks. Chicks were fed the experimental diets to 4 weeks at which time leg adipose and liver samples were obtained for fatty acid determination. Adding 500 or more p.p.m. copper to either a practical or corn starch-soy basal diet caused significant changes in fatty acid composition but the differences were variable perhaps due to a depression of growth caused by these levels of copper. Fatty acid composition of the tissue was not greatly affected by adding 250 p.p.m. of copper to the practical diet which contained 1.5% poultry fat. When a corn starch-soy diet was fed with 0, 2, or 8% added corn oil, the ratio of 16:0 + 18:0 to 16:1 to 18:1 was not lowered in leg adipose lipids by copper supplementation (250 p.p.m.) with any level of added corn oil. With liver lipids copper appeared to reduced the ratios in birds fed the diets with 0 or 2% added corn, but the differences were not statistically significant. The results indicate that using copper levels in practical diets that do not depress growth rate will not have much effect on fatty acid composition of carcass lipids and probably not on physical characteristics of the fat.  相似文献

Chickens from three genetic stocks known to differ in growth potential consumed ad libitum either a single (control) diet or a choice of two diets that differed in protein and energy. Formulation of the choice diets was such that when mixed in specific proportions they provided single diets that decreased in protein and increased in energy over the experimental period. When comparisons of feeding regimens were made at a common age, body weights and feed efficiencies for all stocks were enhanced in chicks fed a single diet. When comparisons were made at a common body weight for controls, chickens fed the single diet were about 15% heavier than those given a dietary choice. For feed efficiency, however, the pattern remained for the faster growing stock whereas there was no difference between feeding regimens for the slower growing stock. Chicks provided a choice of diets had heavier abdominal fat pads and lighter breasts relative to body weight than those fed a single diet. With choice feeding, there were stock by diet interactions for dietary preferences through the first 9 d after hatch. Early on, the interactions resulted from the faster growing stocks exhibiting a greater preference for the diet higher in protein and lower in energy than the slower growing stock. By Day 5, however, the interaction occurred because stocks exhibited either no dietary preference or preferred the diet that was lower in protein and higher in energy. Regardless of genetic stock, at 9 d of age and thereafter there was a clear preference for the diet lower in protein and higher in energy than the diet higher in protein and lower in energy. These data for feed intake were consistent with behavioral observations that showed a preponderance of chicks eating from the feeder containing the diet lower in protein and higher in energy. Compared to a single diet, under choice feeding, energy utilization was negatively influenced more in the faster than slower growing stocks. Protein and sulfur amino acid utilization was not affected by feeding regimen in faster growing stocks, but was enhanced under choice feeding in the slower growing stock. Although lysine utilization was enhanced by choice feeding in all stocks, the effect was greater in the slower than in the faster growing ones. These data demonstrate that although broiler diets are formulated to enhance growth and overall feed efficiency, chicks that are provided a dietary choice of protein and energy do not eat to maximize growth or feed efficiency.  相似文献

Two chick growth experiments and a precision-fed cockerel digestibility assay were conducted to evaluate the effect of extrusion and expelling on the nutritive value of conventional (CSB) and Kunitz trypsin inhibitor-free (KFSB) soybeans. In the first experiment, performance of chicks fed CSB or KFSB autoclaved at 121 C was similar to that of chicks fed CSB or KFSB extruded at 138 C. The effect of extrusion temperature on protein quality of the soybeans was evaluated in the second experiment. Eleven corn-soybean diets were formulated to contain one of the following: CSB extruded at 104, 121, 138, or 154 C; KFSB extruded at 104, 121, or 138 C; CSB extruded at 121, 138, or 154 C followed by processing through an expeller; and commercial dehulled solvent-extracted soybean meal (SBM). All diets contained 20% crude protein and the same amount of soybean oil and were fed to chicks from 7 to 21 days of age. The CSB extruded at 104 or 121 C and KFSB extruded at 104 C yielded depressed growth and feed efficiency compared with SBM. Performance of chicks on the other treatments was similar to that of chicks fed SBM. Pancreas weight (as a percentage of BW) decreased as extrusion temperature increased, with the response being greater for CSB. Growth performance was greater and pancreas weights were lower for chicks fed KFSB extruded at 104 or 121 C compared with those of chicks fed CSB extruded at the same temperatures. Expelling improved weight gain and feed efficiency when CSB was extruded at 121 C. A 48-h digestibility assay with cecectomized cockerels indicated that digestibility of amino acids in CSB and KFSB increased as extrusion temperature increased and that digestibilities of amino acids in CSB extruded at 104 or 121 C were lower than those in KFSB extruded at the same temperatures. Results of this study indicated that extrusion of CSB at 138 to 154 C or extrusion of KFSB at 121 to 138 C yields protein quality similar to that of SBM.  相似文献

Four lactating dairy cows that were ruminally and duodenally cannulated were used in an experiment with a 4 x 4 Latin square design to determine the effects of the substitution of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) from forage with NDF from wheat middlings, corn gluten feed, or a blend of distillers dried grains and hominy. Dietary crude protein and NDF averaged 18 and 31%, respectively, for the diet with 71.2% of the NDF from forage (control diet) and for diets with 55% of the NDF from forage (by-product diets). The substitution of NDF from these by-products for forage NDF did not affect dry matter intake (20.1 kg/d) or digestibility of organic matter. Total tract digestibility of acid detergent fiber was lower for cows fed the diet containing a blend of distillers dried grains and hominy than for cows fed the diet containing corn gluten feed. Microbial crude protein synthesis, milk production (23.9 kg/d), and milk fat percentage were similar for all cows, regardless of diet. Cows fed the diets containing wheat middlings or a blend of distillers dried grains and hominy had reduced ruminal pH compared with that of cows fed the diet containing corn gluten feed or the control diet. Diets containing 55% of total NDF from forage with 31% of total NDF from corn gluten feed, wheat middlings, or a blend of distillers dried grains and hominy can supply sufficient effective fiber to maintain normal ruminal function.  相似文献

Over a period of 4 wk, 24 10-d-old broiler hens were fed diets containing 11% vegetable oil (9% rapeseed oil, 2% soybean oil), which was added either fresh (1 meq O2/kg oil) or oxidized (156 meq O2/kg oil). The effects of the dietary treatments on nutrient digestibility were examined in a balance experiment. The antioxidative status of the animals was evaluated using plasma concentrations of thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS), erythrocyte hemolysis in vitro, selenium-dependent and selenium-independent activity of glutathione peroxidase in liver cell cytosolic fractions, and concentrations of tocopherols and other fat-soluble compounds with antioxidative properties (lutein, beta-carotene, and retinol) in plasma and various tissues (skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, liver, and abdominal fat). Compared to the fresh oil, the concentrations of linoleic and linolenic acid were slightly lower in oxidized oil. The concentration of alpha-tocopherol in the diet with fresh oil was an average of 80.8 mg/kg diet, whereas the diet with oxidized oil only provided 44 mg/kg. The dietary selenium content averaged 0.48 mg/kg in both diets. During the experiment, none of the animals showed symptoms of diarrhea or vitamin E deficiency. The intake of oxidized oil caused a growth depression after 2 wk. The retention of fat (P = 0.07), energy (P = 0.09), and alpha-tocopherol (P < 0.01) was lower in the group fed oxidized fat. Furthermore, these animals showed significantly higher plasma concentrations of TBARS (P < 0.01), and lower concentrations of tocopherols, lutein, beta-carotene, and retinol in plasma and tissues.  相似文献

Fertility of White Leghorn cocks fed a diet containing 12% of dilauryl succinate (LS) for 16 weeks was significantly lower than that of cocks fed the control diet. Little difference in fertility and hatchability of fertile eggs was observed between White Leghorn hens fed the control or LS diets, but the percentage of chicks at hatch, which showed signs of encephalomalacia with lesions on the cerebellum, and the percentage of the hens and offspring having fragile erythrocytes were much higher when LS was fed. Total tocopherol in the plasma of the cocks and hens fed LS and in the eggs laid by the hens fed LS was lower than that in birds fed the control diet, though that of the hens was within the range of plasma tocopherol of normal hens. Offspring of the cocks and hens fed LS died from encephalomalacia earlier than those fed the control diet. These observations with LS feeding were all prevented by oral administration of dl-alpha-tocopheryl acetate. The responses of the cocks and hens to LS were compared with those to linoleic acid in the literature. The direct effect of LS, or more likely of monolauryl succinate, independent of peroxides from unsaturated fatty acids was discussed.  相似文献

Two experiments were conducted with White Leghorn laying hens to study the effects of different cereal grains on production criteria and liver fat content. The results of Experiment 1, in which pullets 21 weeks of age were used for a period of 22 weeks indicated that Gaines wheat or triticale (Trailblazer) were equal to corn in supporting egg production, egg weight and body weight, with comparable feed consumption. Henry wheat(a hard red winter class) was slightly, yet significantly (P less than 0.05) inferior to corn for the above criteria. No significant differences were observed among four treatments in wet liver weight and liver fat content. Hens fed the corn diet had significantly (P less than 0.05) lower carcass fat followed by the hens fed triticale in comparison with those fed Gaines or Henyry wheat. Mortality was very low and not related to dietary treatments. Neither dietary fat nor energy content was related to fat content of liver and carcass of the hens. Body weight and liver fat content were not closely related to each other. Wet liver weight was the only significantly (P less than 0.05) related factor to liver fat content. In the second experiment, in which hens 33 weeks of age were used for an experimental period of 20 weeks, opaque-2 corn was slightly superior to normal corn and triticale was comparable to normal corn in supporting egg production and egg weight. Supplementation of the diets containing the two corns and triticale with lysine failed to improve egg production and egg weight. Hens fed the diets containing either normal corn or opaque-2 corn as the only grain in the diet had significantly (P less than 0.05) higher liver fat content in comparison with hens fed the diet containing triticale as the only grain. Mortality, however, was much higher among hens fed triticale-containing diets in comparison with groups fed corn-containing diets in spite of the fact that they had significantly lower liver fat content. Regardless of dietary treatments or grains used, the hens that died were diagnosed to have fatty liver hemorrhagic syndrome. Dietary fat content was postively and significantly (P less than 0.05) related to liver fat content. Dietary energy or body weight was not closely related to liver content. Liver fat content and mortality were negatively related to each other. The higher for content did not adversely affect laying performance.  相似文献

Forty Holstein cows averaging 85 +/- 50 d in milk were assigned to five dietary treatments for 56 d to determine the effects of ruminal starch degradability and supplemental fat on milk yield and composition and nutrient digestibilities. Treatments were 1) dry-rolled sorghum, no added fat; 2) dry-rolled sorghum plus 2.5% prilled fatty acids; 3) steam-flaked sorghum, no added fat; 4) steam-flaked sorghum plus 2.5% prilled fatty acids; and 5) steam-flaked sorghum plus 5% prilled fatty acids. Fat supplementation at 2.5 and 5% increased the content of fatty acids in diets from 3.0 to 5.4 and 7.7%, respectively. Milk yield was increased 2.0 kg/d when steam-flaked sorghum plus 0 or 2.5% added fat was fed and was 2.4 kg/d higher when prilled fatty acids were fed at 2.5 versus 0%. Cows fed supplemental fat at 5% did not increase milk yield over that of cows fed no added fat. For cows fed 2.5% fat, steam-flaking decreased dry matter intake 12% and increased efficiency of conversion of feed to milk 11%. Milk composition was unaffected by treatments, except that lactose was depressed by fat supplementation. Milk protein yield and efficiency of conversion of dietary protein to milk protein were increased when steam-flaked sorghum was fed. Starch digestibilities were increased from 92.6 to 98.2% when sorghum was steam-flaked compared with dry-rolled and fat supplementation tended to decrease digestibility of neutral detergent fiber. Steam-flaking tended to improve, and the addition of 2.5% fat did improve, the lactational performances of the cows. These effects appeared additive, but 5% fat appeared to be excessive.  相似文献

Two mannans (guar gum and konjac mannan) were fed to growing chicks at a level of 2% in a semipurified diet containing 0.5% cholesterol for 4 weeks. The mannans were nearly identical in producing growth depression, pancreatic hypertrophy and reduction in plasma and hepatic cholesterol when compared to controls fed corn starch or the sugars D-galactose or D-mannose. Hepatic triglyceride levels were higher for chicks fed konjac mannan, but no significant differences in fasting plasma glucose were observed. Apparent metabolizable energy levels for the mannan diets were significantly less than those of the other diets. The effects of the mannans in this study were not correlated with viscosity measurements made in vitro.  相似文献

1. A diet based on soybean meal and wheat contained insufficient chloride to support normal growth in chicks. 2. Ammonium chloride and sodium chloride were equally good sources of supplementary chloride for the chick. 3. When seven diets providing increasing proportions of chloride from 608 to 1808 mg/kg, were fed to chicks, maximal growth at 21 d was obtained at about 1200 mg chloride/kg diet.  相似文献

Twelve Holstein cows and 12 Jersey cows were used in six 4 x 4 Latin squares to investigate the effects of the degradability of dietary protein and supplemental dietary fat on milk components. Dietary dry matter contained 16% crude protein with two concentrations of ruminally undegradable protein (RUP) obtained by substituting blood meal for a portion of the soybean meal. Treatments were 1) 29% RUP, 0% added fat; 2) 29% RUP, 2.7% added fat (Ca soaps of fatty acids); 3) 41% RUP, 0% added fat; and 4) 41% RUP, 2.7% added fat. The dry matter of the total mixed ration fed at 1000 and 1400 h consisted of 30% corn silage, 29% alfalfa haylage, and 41% concentrate. Supplemental dietary fat depressed dry matter intake by 6.2%. Plasma urea N was greater at 0700 and 1600 h for Jerseys fed diets containing added fat and greater at 0700 h for Holsteins fed diets containing 41% RUP than for Holsteins fed 0% added fat and 29% RUP. When averaged across both breeds, milk production increased 7.1%, and production of 4% fat-corrected milk by Jerseys increased 8.4%, in response to added dietary fat. Milk protein was reduced when Holstein diets contained 41% RUP. Milk protein content was reduced 7.1 and 3.9%, and milk urea N was increased 4.9 and 8.5%, by added fat and 41% RUP in both breeds, respectively. Added fat reduced the concentration, but not the yield, of milk components. Substitution of blood meal decreased the concentration and yield of milk protein and casein N.  相似文献

The influence of deficient and adequate maternal intakes of pyridoxine on lipid profiles in brains of progeny at 5, 10, 15, 25 and 50 days of age was studied. The effects of supplementing deficient dams at two different times with pyridoxine on the brain development of progeny were also examined. Three groups of weanling, female rats were fed diets deficient in pyridoxine (1.2 mg pyridoxine-HC1/kg diet) and another group received a control diet (30.0 mg pyridoxine-HC1/kg diet). One deficient group and the control group were fed their diets throughout growth, gestation and lactation. Two groups of dams were fed the deficient diet through growth, gestation and until 5 or 10 days postpartum when pyridoxine was supplemented by feeding the control diet. Body and brain weights were significantly lower in 15, 25 and 50 day-old progeny of deficient dams and deficient dams supplemented at 10 days postpartum. Cerebroside content at 15 days and ganglioside content at 15 and 25 days were significantly lower in brains of pups from unsupplemented deficient dams and deficient dams supplemented at 10 days postpartum. The postnatal development of cerebroside and ganglioside levels in brain was delayed or retarded in brain of pups from unsupplemented deficient dams. Supplementation of dams fed a low level of pyridoxine (1.2 mg/kg diet) with the vitamin beginning at 5 days postpartum reversed all observed effects of the low vitamin intake on brain lipids in progeny.  相似文献

A study was conducted to determine the effects of adherent Lactobacillus culture on growth performance, intestinal microbial population, and serum cholesterol level of broilers. Four dietary treatments, consisting of the basal diet (control), basal diet + 0.05, 0.10, or 0.15% Lactobacillus culture (LC), were fed to 2,000 Arbor Acres broiler chicks from 1 to 42 d of age (DOA). The chicks were randomly assigned to 40 cages (50 chicks per cage, 10 cages per diet). The experimental period was 42 d. Body weights and feed to gain ratio were measured at 21 and 42 DOA. The intestinal microbial populations and serum cholesterol levels were determined at 10, 20, 30, and 40 DOA. The results showed that body weights and feed to gain ratios were improved significantly (P < 0.05) when compared to control broilers for broilers fed diets containing 0.05 or 0.10% LC, but not 0.15% LC, at 21 and 42 DOA. Coliform counts in the cecum of birds receiving 0.05% LC at 10, 20, and 30 DOA, and 0.10% at 10 and 20 DOA were significantly lower (P < 0.05) than those of the control birds. The total aerobes, total anaerobes, lactobacilli, and streptococci in the small intestines and ceca of the control birds were not significantly different from those of the treated groups. Serum cholesterol levels were significantly lower (P < 0.05) in broilers fed the three diets containing LC at 30 DOA, and in the birds fed 0.05 or 0.10% LC at 20 DOA.  相似文献

Three experiments were conducted to test the hypothesis that a vitamin D deficiency alters the immune responses of female broiler chicks. The control diet contained 800 IU of cholecalciferol (vitamin D3)/kg and the deficient diet was the same except without supplemental vitamin D3. The vitamin D deficiency status was established on the basis of a significantly lower blood ionized calcium or total serum calcium (75 to 85% of the control). Vitamin D-deficient chicks also had lower growth rate and bone ash. In Experiment 1 at 8 d of age, and Experiment 2 at 23 d of age, the cutaneous basophil hypersensitivity response as determined by the increase in interdigital skin thickness 20 h after a single injection of 100 microg phytohemagglutinin-P was significantly depressed in vitamin D-deficient chicks (62 to 64% of the control). Thymus weight, adjusted for body weight, was significantly lower in the vitamin D-deficient chicks at 24 d of age (61% of the control). Primary and secondary antibody responses against SRBC in vitamin D-deficient chicks were not different from the control. In Experiment 3, in 17-d-old chicks, vitamin D deficiency decreased the number of abdominal macrophages phagocytizing SRBC in vitro within 45 min from 14.7 to 10.1%. These results indicate that vitamin D deficiency depresses the cellular immune responses in young broiler chicks.  相似文献
