We explain recent nonlinear pulse propagation phenomena in a semiconductor optical amplifier as noted by Romstad et al. (see ibid., vol.12, p.1674, Dec. 2000). The microscopic model that me employ qualitatively captures all trends of the experimental measurements with no fitting parameters. Consequently, our findings are important for a detailed understanding, and future optimization of ultrafast processes in semiconductor amplifiers for ultrafast networks and pulse-shortening applications  相似文献

本文用重复率为10Hz、调Q、Nd∶YAG激光器的二倍频输出泵浦四级染料放大器,把从对撞脉冲锁模(CPM)环形染料激光器中产生的43fs的光脉冲能量放大到100μJ,脉冲宽度为125fs,峰值功率为800MW,在用一组四棱镜系统对放大的光脉冲进行群速度色散补偿以后,得到了宽度为70fs的放大光脉冲输出,峰值功率达GW。  相似文献

We describe a 10-GHz multiwavelength pulse source based on high-order four-wave mixing products generated by a saturated optical fiber parametric amplifier. We employ a nonlinear modulation scheme for the pump which plays two roles. First, it enables us to use a high pump power with no phase modulation, and second, it yields narrow (6 ps) pulses with a constant spectral width and the same jitter level (/spl sim/150 fs) for the signal and three idler wavelengths.  相似文献

Theory shows that the maximum gain and bandwidth of one-pump fiber optical parametric amplifiers made from high-nonlinearity fiber, operated with a pump wavelength λp far from the fiber zero-dispersion wavelength λ0 can greatly be improved by periodic dispersion compensation. We have performed experiments and obtained good agreement with theory: for λp=1542 and λ0=1591 nm, we have increased the bandwidth from 7 to 28 nm, and the maximum gain from 15 to 20 dB, by splicing three pieces of standard fiber at regular intervals in a 40-m long nonlinear fiber  相似文献

We demonstrate, for the first time to the best of our knowledge, a highly efficient continuous-wave two-pump fiber optical parametric amplifier. We used a total pump power of /spl sim/280mW in a 14-km-long fiber and obtained 88% power transfer from pumps to signal and idler over 25-nm bandwidth centered at 1568 nm.  相似文献

Theory shows that the gain bandwidth of a one-pump fiber optical parametric amplifier (OPA) using highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF) could be more than 200 nm. Under these circumstances, the OPA gain would overlap the pump-induced Raman gain. We have studied the combined effects of OPA and Raman gain theoretically and experimentally. The experimental results demonstrate a 200-nm bandwidth from a single fiber-optical amplifier and also verify that the influence of the Raman effect is relatively small, as predicted by the theory  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a high-performance multiwavelength ring laser based on a linear optical amplifier (LOA) for potential applications in dense wavelength-division-multiplexing communication systems. Experimental results indicate that the inhomogeneous gain medium provided by the LOA reduces the gain competition and leads to stable multiwavelength lasing. Thirty-eight wavelengths covering C+L-band with 0.8-nm channel spacing are generated at room temperature. Simultaneous tuning of multiwavelengths is demonstrated and a stability test shows a power fluctuation of less than 0.2 dB during a 3-h test.  相似文献

介绍了应用于光纤陀螺的掺铒光纤超荧光光源的研究现状,比较分析了掺铒光纤光源5种主要结构的优缺点,在此基础上得出了光纤放大器结构的光源既可以有效提高光纤陀螺的检测精度和稳定性,又可以降低成本.针对光纤放大器光源,分别分析了泵浦功率、泵浦波长、反馈以及铒纤温度对其平均波长稳定性的影响.为了消除反馈对光纤放大器光源平均波长稳定性的影响,根据超荧光光源的偏振态效应,在光源中加入了偏振器来控制反馈的偏振态,从而降低了反馈对光源平均波长稳定性的影响,并采用长周期光纤光栅作为滤波器,有效地提高了光纤放大器光源的波长稳定性.  相似文献

We report a novel gain enhancement scheme for fiber-optic parametric amplifiers utilizing cascaded amplification and quasi-phase matching (QPM). The theory and method of QPM for four-wave mixing (FWM) are developed for the first time to our knowledge. In experimental implementations of the theory, we achieve >12 dB gain improvement in a three-stage dispersion-shifted (DS) fiber parametric amplifier. A 16-dB overall gain is obtained with 11 nm separation between zero-dispersion wavelength and pump wavelength. The experimental results show good agreement with theory and simulations. We present the time dynamics of a compound-cavity optical parametric oscillator (OPO) using a mathematical model for the modes under the gain profile of the oscillator which accounts for pump depletion and the cavity-Q factors. The computational results show that this type of cavity is superior in that its threshold is lower than that of a simple narrow-band cavity with dispersive elements and its efficiency is increased, while its narrow linewidth remains nearly the same across the tunable range of the nonlinear crystals used. A diagram illustrating the operation state of a compound-cavity OPO is presented, which is applicable to the simple narrow-band cavity, simple broad-band cavity, compound cavity, and traveling-wave amplification. 近十年来,超强超短脉冲是激光光学发展的一个重要趋势。尤其是在中红外(MIR)波段,由于中红外波长具有更大的有质动力并且其光谱范围几乎包含了所有分子“指纹”共振峰,这使得中红外激光的研究在强场物理、中红外光谱学、材料加工以及生物医学研究等领域中至关重要。目前已经有许多比较成熟的激光技术可以对脉冲进行整形、放大,例如差频(DFG)、啁啾脉冲放大(CPA)、光学参量放大技术(OPA)以及光学参量啁啾脉冲放大(OPCPA)等。利用OPCPA技术具有的高放大增益、高信噪比、宽增益带宽的优点在高非线性系数的非线性晶体中进行脉冲放大已经成为当前获取超强超短中红外脉冲的主要手段之一。文中总结了利用OPCPA技术在2~20 μm波长范围内产生和放大MIR少周期脉冲的研究进展,并对其在强场物理、分子频谱探测以及生物医学方面的应用进行了简要的阐述。  相似文献

介绍了一种光纤激光泵浦的三波长中红外光参量振荡器。在最大泵浦功率70.7 W,泵浦波长为1 060、1 065、1 080 nm的情况下,实现了8.7 W的中红外闲频光输出,斜效率达到16%,闲频光三个波长分别为3 132、3 170、3 310 nm,但产生的信号光只有一个波长为1 604 nm。对实验结果进行了理论分析和实验测试,得出在谐振腔内1 060 nm泵浦光发生了光参量振荡,而1 065、1 080 nm泵浦光分别与1 604 nm信号光发生了差频过程,同时还利用差频转换效率理论对1 065、1 080 nm差频产生的闲频光强度的差异进行了分析和解释。  相似文献
