The rate distortion function in information theory provides performance bounds for lossy source coding. However, it is not clear how to causally encode a Gaussian sequence under rate constraints while achieving RD optimality. This problem has significant implications in the design of rate control for video communication. To address this problem, we take distortion fluctuation into account and develop a new theory, called gamma rate theory, to quantify the trade-off between rate and distortion fluctuation. The gamma rate theory implies that, to evaluate the performance of causal rate controls in source coding, the traditional RD metric needs to be replaced by a new GRD metric. The gamma rate theory identifies the trade-off between quality fluctuation and bandwidth, which is not known previously. To validate the gamma rate theory, we design a rate control algorithm for video coding; our experimental results demonstrate the utility of the gamma rate theory in video coding.  相似文献

针对现有比特平面级编码端速率控制算法估计精度要求高的问题,提出了一种帧级编码端速率控制算法。该算法通过在编码端利用分层快速运动补偿内插产生高质量的边信息估计,并根据循环移位去除比特平面间的级别性,使每个比特平面的编码速率均匀化,从而实现帧级别的速率控制。实验结果表明,与现有算法相比,所提算法对中高速运动视频边信息估计质量有明显提升,且解码视频的平均PSNR(peak signal-to-noise ratio)均有提高。  相似文献

为了避免在分布式视频编码系统中使用反馈信道,提出了一种基于Wyner-Ziv编码的无反馈速率控制算法。首先,利用目标码率和目标帧率进行GOP层码率分配;然后,根据原始图像的帧间相关性动态选择量化因子和量化矩阵来分配每个GOP内关键帧和Wyner-Ziv帧的比特数;接下来,利用系数带级的相关性计算相关噪声模型参数,并选择对应的LDPC校验矩阵,提出Wyner-Ziv帧的无反馈比特面速率控制算法。实验结果表明,在给定目标码率下,所提算法的编码码率误差小于0.57%,且与现有无反馈速率控制算法相比,解码恢复图像的PSNR(峰值信噪比)可以提高1dB。另外,该算法基本没有增加编码端复杂度,可用于实际分布式视频通信系统。  相似文献

针对视频压缩码流对信道差错异常敏感的问题,提出了一种基于感兴趣区域的自适应帧内更新编码算法。该算法利用人眼的视觉感知特性设计感兴趣区域提取模型,根据信道差错累积情况自适应调整帧内更新编码策略,将更少的失真分配给人眼感兴趣区域,提高差错信道下传输视频图像的主客观质量。实验结果表明,与基于端到端失真的帧内更新算法相比,在不同的信道丢包条件下,所提算法可以获得更好的主客观质量,感兴趣区域的峰值信噪比(PSNR)平均提高0.87 dB左右,提高了差错信道下视频通信的鲁棒性。  相似文献

As a state-of-the-art video compression technique, H.264/AVC has been deployed in many surveillance cameras to improve the compression efficiency. However, it induces very high coding complexity, and thus high power consumption. In this paper, a difference detection algorithm is proposed to reduce the computational complexity and power consumption in surveillance video compression by automatically distributing the video data to different modules of the video encoder according to their content similarity features. Without any requirement in changing the encoder hardware, the proposed algorithm provides high adaptability to be integrated into the existing H.264 video encoders. An average of over 82% of overall encoding complexity can be reduced regardless of whether or not the H.264 encoder itself has employed fast algorithms. No loss is observed in both subjective and objective video quality.  相似文献

The Joint Video Exploration Team (JVET) has studied future video coding (FVC) technologies with a potential compression capacity that significantly exceeds that of the high-efficiency video coding (HEVC) standard. The joint exploration test model (JEM), a common platform for the exploration of FVC technologies in the JVET, employs quadtree plus binary tree block partitioning, which enhances the flexibility of coding unit partitioning. Despite significant improvement in coding efficiency for chrominance achieved by separating luminance and chrominance tree structures in I slices, this approach has intrinsic drawbacks that result in the redundancy of block partitioning data. In this paper, an adaptive tree structure correlating luminance and chrominance of single and dual trees is presented. Our proposed method resulted in an average reduction of −0.24% in the Y Bjontegaard Delta rate relative to the intracoding of JEM 6.0 common test conditions.  相似文献

This paper presents a new video coding system based on wavelet transform and its rate control scheme over ATM networks. First, three dimensional wavelet transform is performed for the original image sequence, and an extension of set partitioning in hierarchical trees algorithm is employed to quantize the wavelet coefficients. Then, the output rate of the coder is controlled at group of frame scale, ensuring that it conforms to the parameters of a leaky bucket controller. Several leaky buckets with different sizes are discussed too. Simulation shows the efficiency of this codec and the effectiveness of the proposed rate control scheme.  相似文献

提出一种新的低功耗图像及视频编解码算法。该算法主要基于矢量量化,认为编码算法的质量和功耗地码本尺寸的大小,通过采用小尺寸码本,降低算法所需要的内存数量,从而降低功耗。编码时,利用分形理论中的同构变换计算虚拟码本,弥补由于采用小码本造成的图像质量损失,并使编码过程较少依赖于码本内存。编解码结果与全搜索型矢量量化算法相比,在不损失图像质量的前提下,可以极大地降低编解码功耗。  相似文献

自适应环路滤波(ALF)是面向高清的多视点视频编码(MVC)中的一项新的滤波技术,虽然能提高视频压缩的主观质量和客观质量,但是其复杂度过高阻碍了其实时应用。本文提出了一种低复杂度的ALF算法,充分利用了视点间相关性和层间相关性以减少亮度和色度分量的分割次数,并且能自适应跳过大部分帧的块控制(DBC)处理过程。实验结果表明,所提出的算法能在保证视频主观质量和客观质量基本不变的情况下减少61%左右的ALF处理时间。因此,所提出的方法在编码效率和复杂度上做到了很好的折中处理,并且能很好地改善ALF的性能。  相似文献

Known coding techniques for transmitting moving images at very low bit rates are explained by the source models on which these coding techniques are based. It is shown that with motion-compensated hybrid coding, object-based analysis-synthesis coding, knowledge-based coding and semantic coding, there is a consistent development of source models. In consequence these coding techniques can be combined in a layered coding system. From experimental results obtained for object-based analysis-synthesis, coding estimates for the coding efficiency of such a layered coding system are derived using head and shoulder video telephone test sequences. It is shown that an additional compression factor of about 3 can be expected with such a complex layered coding system, when compared to block-based hybrid coding.  相似文献

Joint video/depth rate allocation is an important optimization problem in 3D video coding. To address this problem, this paper proposes a distortion model to evaluate the synthesized view without access to the captured original view. The proposed distortion model is an additive model that accounts for the video-coding-induced distortion and the depth-quantization-induced distortion, as well as the inherent geometry distortion. Depth-quantization-induced distortion not only considers the warping error distortion, which is described by a piecewise linear model with the video power spectral property, but also takes into account the warping error correlation distortion between two sources reference views. Geometry distortion is approximated from that of the adjacent view synthesis. Based on the proposed distortion model, a joint rate allocation method is proposed to seek the optimal trade-off between video bit-rate and depth bit-rate for maximizing the view synthesis quality. Experimental results show that the proposed distortion model is capable of approximately estimating the actual distortion for the synthesized view, and that the proposed rate allocation method can almost achieve the identical rate allocation performance as the full-search method at less computational cost. Moreover, the proposed rate allocation method consumes less computational cost than the hierarchical-search method at high bit-rates while providing almost the equivalent rate allocation performance.  相似文献

Spatial Quality Index (SQI) is a recently proposed video quality assessment metric that can predict video quality much close to subjective judgments. Since current video coding still has much redundancy in the sense of visual perception, in this paper, we incorporate SQI into video coding to further improve compression ratio without visual quality loss. Firstly, contributions of different human visual system (HVS) properties used in SQI are analyzed. Then two most important HVS properties, i.e. contrast masking effect (CME) and motion masking effect (MME), are extracted to measure perceptual-distortion Dp in video coding. Finally, based on Dp, a rate perceptual-distortion optimization (RpDO) algorithm is presented by adopting a suitable Lagrange multiplier from previous study. Experimental results show that, RpDO can averagely achieve 14% bitrate reduction when compared to HM14.0 under the same visual quality. At the same time, there is no significant change in the encoding time.  相似文献

The sum of absolute difference (SAD) is generally adopted as a cost function in motion estimation (ME) and temporal error concealment (TEC) algorithm owing to its efficiency. The hardware architecture of SAD also consumes considerable power dissipation in video codec chip. Hence, the switching-activity analysis on SAD is quite essential from algorithm/architecture perspectives. This work develops the estimation formulas for switching-activity dedicated for SAD engine according to probability theory. The experiment results reveal that the probability error rate (PER) of the SAD engine is as minor as 5.61%. Consequently, this leads to a precise switching-activity estimation of the SAD-based algorithm/architecture for video signal processing.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a new adaptive video coding control for real-time H.264/AVC encoding system. The main techniques include: (1) the initial quantization parameter (QP) decision scheme is based on Laplacian of Gaussian (LoG) operators; (2) the MB-level QP calculation is based on the spatio-temporal correlation, in which the computation is less than the quadratic model used by H.264/AVC; (3) the adaptive GOP structure is proposed, in which the I-frame is adaptively replaced by an enhancement P-frame to improve the coding efficiency; (4) the scene change is detected with the complexity of adjacent inter-frames and the appropriate QP is re-calculated for the scene-change frame. The proposed algorithm is not only to save the computational complexity but also to improve coding quality. Compared to the JM12.4 reference under various sequences testing, the proposed algorithm can decrease coding time by 64.5% and improve PSNR by 1.52 dB while keeping the same bit-rate.  相似文献

Low-delay and error-resilient video coding is critical for real-time video communication over wireless networks. Intra-refresh coding, which embeds intra coded regions into inter frames can achieve a relatively smooth bit-rate and terminate the error propagation caused by the transmission loss. In this paper, we proposed a novel linear model for the intra-refresh cycle-size selection adapting to the network packet loss rates and the motions in the video content. We also analyze issues in designing the intra-refresh coding pattern and the refresh order, and propose a strategy which can adapt to different cycle-size and obtain better R–D performance compared with traditional random intra-refresh and vertical-partition intra-refresh. Experimental results show that the linear cycle-size selection model works effectively, where a 3 dB improvement can be achieved compared with a fixed cycle-size. Also, with the proposed intra-refresh order, a 2.0% bitrate reduction is obtained in average compared with the vertical-partition intra-refresh.  相似文献

本文针对低码率条件下基于子块DCT的视频压缩产生的方块效应,提出了一种小波域上进行软阈值滤波的改进算法。新算法根据图像的平坦区和单调变化区等非纹理区易于通过平滑滤波去噪的性质,以非纹理区作为参考对象计算阈值,并且采用虚拟滤波的思想简化了阈值的计算,同时根据低码率压缩视频的特点修改了在低层子带的软阈值处理过程。对测试序列Susan的实验结果表明,新的算法不仅获得很好的主观去方块效果,而且可以对帧内和帧间编码模式平均分别获得约1.0dB和0.28dB的客观质量(PSNR)的改善,因此新的算法适用于可视电话等低码率视频的应用。  相似文献

为了降低多视点视频编码(MVC)的计算复杂度,提出了一种基于全局-局部率失真代价的低复杂度宏块模式决策算法。首先根据宏块候选模式的块尺寸和率失真代价特点,将所有候选模式分为大尺寸模式(Skip/Direct、Inter16×16和Intra16×16)和小尺寸模式(Inter16×8、Inter8×16、Inter8×8、Intra8×8和Intra4×4);接着统计已编码帧中这两类宏块模式的平均率失真代价,并利用这些平均率失真代价计算当前帧宏块模式决策的全局率失真代价;最后利用得到的全局率失真代价,并结合当前宏块已估计模式的局部率失真代价和空间邻近宏块的模式信息提前终止模式决策,具体包括对大尺寸宏块模式进行提前判定以及对小尺寸候选模式进行逐级选择。实验结果表明:与MVC参考代码中的全搜索模式决策算法相比,本文算法在时域预测视点和视点域预测视点上分别节省了74%和82%的平均编码时间,同时保持了良好的编码率失真性能;与现有模式决策快速算法相比,本文算法降低了更多的编码时间,并具有更好的编码率失真性能。  相似文献
