As an undetachable module of type-2 (T2) fuzzy computations and reasoning, type-reduction methods play an important role in various fuzzy disciplines including fuzzy logic systems and fuzzy clustering. Importance of type-reduction techniques lies in the fact that they are the main tools for collecting the entire inherent vagueness of the data. Therefore, type-reduction methods form the output of type-2 fuzzy sets (T2 FSs) as the representative of the entire uncertainty in a given space. Hence, their accuracy, precision, and performance speed is of much interest. This paper, presents a comprehensive review on various type-reduction and defuzzification strategies for general and interval type-2 fuzzy sets and systems. It is tried to analyze the existing approaches from different point of views accompanied by extensive comparisons on different features of type-reduction methods to facilitate further research studies by the fuzzy community.  相似文献

Uncertainty is an inherent part in control systems used in real world applications. The use of new methods for handling incomplete information is of fundamental importance. Type-1 fuzzy sets used in conventional fuzzy systems cannot fully handle the uncertainties present in control systems. Type-2 fuzzy sets that are used in type-2 fuzzy systems can handle such uncertainties in a better way because they provide us with more parameters and more design degrees of freedom. This paper deals with the design of control systems using type-2 fuzzy logic for minimizing the effects of uncertainty produced by the instrumentation elements, environmental noise, etc. The experimental results are divided in two classes, in the first class, simulations of a feedback control system for a non-linear plant using type-1 and type-2 fuzzy logic controllers are presented; a comparative analysis of the systems’ response in both cases was performed, with and without the presence of uncertainty. For the second class, a non-linear identification problem for time-series prediction is presented. Based on the experimental results the conclusion is that the best results are obtained using type-2 fuzzy systems.  相似文献

In this paper we present a method for response integration in multi-net neural systems using interval type-2 fuzzy logic and fuzzy integrals, with the purpose of improving the performance in the solution of problems with a great volume of information. The method can be generalized for pattern recognition and prediction problems, but in this work we show the implementation and tests of the method applied to the face recognition problem using modular neural networks. In the application we use two interval type-2 fuzzy inference systems (IT2-FIS); the first IT2-FIS was used for feature extraction in the training data, and the second one to estimate the relevance of the modules in the multi-net system. Fuzzy logic is shown to be a tool that can help improve the results of a neural system by facilitating the representation of human perceptions.  相似文献

This paper presents a novel learning methodology based on a hybrid algorithm for interval type-2 fuzzy logic systems. Since only the back-propagation method has been proposed in the literature for the tuning of both the antecedent and the consequent parameters of type-2 fuzzy logic systems, a hybrid learning algorithm has been developed. The hybrid method uses a recursive orthogonal least-squares method for tuning the consequent parameters and the back-propagation method for tuning the antecedent parameters. Systems were tested for three types of inputs: (a) interval singleton, (b) interval type-1 non-singleton, and (c) interval type-2 non-singleton. Experiments were carried out on the application of hybrid interval type-2 fuzzy logic systems for prediction of the scale breaker entry temperature in a real hot strip mill for three different types of coil. The results proved the feasibility of the systems developed here for scale breaker entry temperature prediction. Comparison with type-1 fuzzy logic systems shows that hybrid learning interval type-2 fuzzy logic systems provide improved performance under the conditions tested.  相似文献

In real life, information about the world is uncertain and imprecise. The cause of this uncertainty is due to: deficiencies on given information, the fuzzy nature of our perception of events and objects, and on the limitations of the models we use to explain the world. The development of new methods for dealing with information with uncertainty is crucial for solving real life problems. In this paper three interval type-2 fuzzy neural network (IT2FNN) architectures are proposed, with hybrid learning algorithm techniques (gradient descent backpropagation and gradient descent with adaptive learning rate backpropagation). At the antecedents layer, a interval type-2 fuzzy neuron (IT2FN) model is used, and in case of the consequents layer an interval type-1 fuzzy neuron model (IT1FN), in order to fuzzify the rule’s antecedents and consequents of an interval type-2 Takagi-Sugeno-Kang fuzzy inference system (IT2-TSK-FIS). IT2-TSK-FIS is integrated in an adaptive neural network, in order to take advantage the best of both models. This provides a high order intuitive mechanism for representing imperfect information by means of use of fuzzy If-Then rules, in addition to handling uncertainty and imprecision. On the other hand, neural networks are highly adaptable, with learning and generalization capabilities. Experimental results are divided in two kinds: in the first one a non-linear identification problem for control systems is simulated, here a comparative analysis of learning architectures IT2FNN and ANFIS is done. For the second kind, a non-linear Mackey-Glass chaotic time series prediction problem with uncertainty sources is studied. Reliability, a measure of software, deals in total number of faults count up to a certain period of time. The present study aims at estimating the total number of software faults during the early phase of software life cycle. Such estimation helps in producing more reliable software as there may be a scope to take necessary corrective actions for improving the reliability within optimum time and cost by the software developers. The proposed interval type-2 fuzzy logic-based model considers reliability-relevant software metric and earlier project data as model inputs. Type-2 fuzzy sets have been used to reduce uncertainties in the vague linguistic values of the software metrics. A rule formation algorithm has been developed to overcome inconsistency in the consequent parts of large number of rules. Twenty-six software project data help to validate the model, and a comparison has been provided to analyse the proposed model’s performance.  相似文献

In this paper, an interval type-2 fuzzy sliding-mode controller (IT2FSMC) is proposed for linear and nonlinear systems. The proposed IT2FSMC is a combination of the interval type-2 fuzzy logic control (IT2FLC) and the sliding-mode control (SMC) which inherits the benefits of these two methods. The objective of the controller is to allow the system to move to the sliding surface and remain in on it so as to ensure the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system. The Lyapunov stability method is adopted to verify the stability of the interval type-2 fuzzy sliding-mode controller system. The design procedure of the IT2FSMC is explored in detail. A typical second order linear interval system with 50% parameter variations, an inverted pendulum with variation of pole characteristics, and a Duffing forced oscillation with uncertainty and disturbance are adopted to illustrate the validity of the proposed method. The simulation results show that the IT2FSMC achieves the best tracking performance in comparison with the type-1 Fuzzy logic controller (T1FLC), the IT2FLC, and the type-1 fuzzy sliding-mode controller (T1FSMC).  相似文献

Interval Type-2 fuzzy voter design for fault tolerant systems   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A voting scheme constitutes an essential component of many fault tolerant systems. Two types of voters are commonly used in applications of real-valued systems: the inexact majority and the amalgamating voters. The inexact majority voter effectively isolates erroneous modules and is capable of reporting benign outputs when a significant disagreement is detected. However, an application specific voter threshold must be provided. On the other hand, amalgamating voter, such as the weighted average voter, reduces the influence of faulty modules by averaging the input values together. Unlike the majority voters, amalgamating voters are not capable of producing benign outputs. In the past, a Type-1 (T1) fuzzy voting scheme was introduced, allowing for both smooth amalgamation of voter inputs and effective signalization of benign outputs. The presented paper proposes an extension to the fuzzy voting scheme via incorporating Interval Type-2 (IT2) fuzzy logic. The IT2 fuzzy logic allows for an improved handling of uncertain assumptions about the distributions of noisy and erroneous inputs which are essential for correct design of the fuzzy voting scheme. The proposed voter design features robust performance when the uncertainty assumptions dynamically change over time. The IT2 fuzzy voter architecture was compared against the average voter, inexact majority voter, and the T1 fuzzy voter using a refined experimental harness. The reported results demonstrate improved availability, safety and reliability of the presented IT2 fuzzy voting scheme.  相似文献

Type-2 fuzzy sets (T2 FSs) have been shown to manage uncertainty more effectively than T1 fuzzy sets (T1 FSs) in several areas of engineering [4], [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], [12], [15], [16], [17], [18], [21], [22], [23], [24], [25], [26], [27] and [30]. However, computing with T2 FSs can require undesirably large amount of computations since it involves numerous embedded T2 FSs. To reduce the complexity, interval type-2 fuzzy sets (IT2 FSs) can be used, since the secondary memberships are all equal to one [21]. In this paper, three novel interval type-2 fuzzy membership function (IT2 FMF) generation methods are proposed. The methods are based on heuristics, histograms, and interval type-2 fuzzy C-means. The performance of the methods is evaluated by applying them to back-propagation neural networks (BPNNs). Experimental results for several data sets are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed membership assignments.  相似文献

This paper presents a new method for fault detection (FD) based on interval type-2 fuzzy sets. The main idea is based on a confident span using interval type-2 fuzzy systems. An estimate for upper and lower bounds of output has been taken using the designing of an optimal fuzzy system through clustering. Finally the method has been tested in two non-linear systems, a two-tank with a fluid flow and pH neutralisation process, and it is compared with a well-known method named ANFIS. Furthermore, the mathematical model and the results of simulations prove the effectiveness, usefulness and applications of our new method.  相似文献

目前,大多数模糊推理都是利用t-范数和t-余范数或其改进形式对连接词进行建模,这些模型不能将模糊规则中前件集与后件集之间的相关性信息引入到模糊推理过程,这会丢失蕴含在规则中的一些信息甚至导致推理结果与实际经验严重不符.为解决此问题,本文首先引入模糊集合面向对象变换的概念,并将其推广,建立了合成type-2模糊集合模型.基于此模型,针对区间型type-2模糊逻辑系统,提出一种面向后件集的模糊推理机制,该机制能将前件集与后件集的相关性信息(包括清晰数和模糊数两种情形)引入到模糊推理过程.仿真结果表明,该方法能捕获到模糊规则中更多的不确定性信息,并为模糊逻辑系统的设计提供更大的自由度.  相似文献

Although a considerable amount of effort has been put in to show that fuzzy logic controllers have exceptional capabilities of dealing with uncertainty, there are still noteworthy concerns, e.g., the design of fuzzy logic controllers is an arduous task due to the lack of closed-form input–output relationships which is a limitation to interpretability of these controllers. The role of design parameters in fuzzy logic controllers, such as position, shape, and height of membership functions, is not straightforward. Motivated by the fact that the availability of an interpretable relationship from input to output will simplify the design procedure of fuzzy logic controllers, the main aims in this work are derive fuzzy mappings for both type-1 and interval type-2 fuzzy logic controllers, analyse them, and eventually benefit from such a nonlinear mapping to design fuzzy logic controllers. This paper presents the optimization of a fuzzy edge detector based on the traditional Sobel technique combined with interval type-2 fuzzy logic. The goal of using interval type-2 fuzzy logic in edge detection methods is to provide them with the ability to handle uncertainty in processing real world images. However, the optimal design of fuzzy systems is a difficult task and for this reason the use of meta-heuristic optimization techniques is also considered in this paper. For the optimization of the fuzzy inference systems, the Cuckoo Search (CS) and Genetic Algorithms (GAs) are applied. Simulation results show that using an optimal interval type-2 fuzzy system in conjunction with the Sobel technique provides a powerful edge detection method that outperforms its type-1 counterparts and the pure original Sobel technique.  相似文献

This paper introduces a new non-parametric method for uncertainty quantification through construction of prediction intervals (PIs). The method takes the left and right end points of the type-reduced set of an interval type-2 fuzzy logic system (IT2FLS) model as the lower and upper bounds of a PI. No assumption is made in regard to the data distribution, behaviour, and patterns when developing intervals. A training method is proposed to link the confidence level (CL) concept of PIs to the intervals generated by IT2FLS models. The new PI-based training algorithm not only ensures that PIs constructed using IT2FLS models satisfy the CL requirements, but also reduces widths of PIs and generates practically informative PIs. Proper adjustment of parameters of IT2FLSs is performed through the minimization of a PI-based objective function. A metaheuristic method is applied for minimization of the non-linear non-differentiable cost function. Performance of the proposed method is examined for seven synthetic and real world benchmark case studies with homogenous and heterogeneous noise. The demonstrated results indicate that the proposed method is capable of generating high quality PIs. Comparative studies also show that the performance of the proposed method is equal to or better than traditional neural network-based methods for construction of PIs in more than 90% of cases. The superiority is more evident for the case of data with a heterogeneous noise.  相似文献

The prediction of time series has both the theoretical value and practical significance in reality. However, since the high nonlinear and noises in the time series, it is still an open problem to tackle with the uncertainties and fuzziness in the forecasting process. In this article, an evolving recurrent interval type-2 intuitionistic fuzzy neural network (eRIT2IFNN) is proposed for time series prediction and regression problems. The eRIT2IFNN employs interval type-2 intuitionistic fuzzy sets to enhance the modeling of uncertainties by intuitionistic evaluation and noise tolerance of the system. In the eRIT2IFNN, the antecedent part of each fuzzy rule is defined using intuitionistic interval type-2 fuzzy sets, and the consequent realizes the Takagi–Sugeno–Kang type fuzzy inference mechanism. In order to utilize the prior knowledge including intuitionistic information, a local internal feedback is established by feeding the rule firing strength of each rule to itself eRIT2IFNN is fully adaptive to the evolving of sequence data by online learning of structure and parameters. A modified density-based clustering is implemented for the structure learning, where both densities and membership degrees are involved to determine the fuzzy rules. Performance of eRIT2IFNN is evaluated using a set of benchmark problems and compared with existing fuzzy inference systems. Moreover, the eRIT2IFNN is tested for identification of dynamics under both noise-free and noisy environments. Finally, a group of practical financial price-tracking problems including high-frequency data of financial future, commodity future and precious metal are used for the evaluation of the proposed inference system.  相似文献
