This paper represents an artificial neural network (ANN) backpropagation algorithm is used to choose best coefficients of hierarchical fuzzy power system stabilizer (HFPSS). PSS is used for stability enhancement of a single machine infinite bus (SMIB) power system. ANN algorithm is used to predict load condition of the power system. And according to the predicted load condition ANN determinates choosing optimal parameters of the hierarchical fuzzy controller (HFC) to achieve better performance. Simulation results are compared with conventional PSS (CPSS) to show the effectiveness of the proposed controller. Also quantitative criterias of measuring performance is computed for 16 loading conditions.  相似文献

The unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of rocks is an important design parameter in rock engineering and geotechnics, which is required and determined for rock mechanical studies in mining and civil projects. This parameter is usually determined through a laboratory UCS test. Since the preparation of high-quality samples is difficult, expensive and time consuming for laboratory tests, development of predictive models for determining the mechanical properties of rocks seems to be essential in rock engineering. In this study, an attempt was made to develop an artificial neural network (ANN) and multivariable regression analysis (MVRA) models in order to predict UCS of rock surrounding a roadway. For this, a database of laboratory tests was prepared, which includes rock type, Schmidt hardness, density and porosity as input parameters and UCS as output parameter. To make a database (including 93 datasets), different rock samples, ranging from weak to very strong types, are used. To compare the performance of developed models, determination coefficient (R 2), variance account for (VAF), mean absolute error (E a) and mean relative error (E r) indices between predicted and measured values were calculated. Based on this comparison, it was concluded that performance of the ANN model is considerably better than the MVRA model. Further, a sensitivity analysis shows that rock density and Schmidt hardness were recognized as the most effective parameters, whereas porosity was considered as the least effective input parameter on the ANN model output (UCS) in this study.  相似文献

Uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of rock is crucial for any type of projects constructed in/on rock mass. The test that is conducted to measure the UCS of rock is expensive, time consuming and having sample restriction. For this reason, the UCS of rock may be estimated using simple rock tests such as point load index (I s(50)), Schmidt hammer (R n) and p-wave velocity (V p) tests. To estimate the UCS of granitic rock as a function of relevant rock properties like R n, p-wave and I s(50), the rock cores were collected from the face of the Pahang–Selangor fresh water tunnel in Malaysia. Afterwards, 124 samples are prepared and tested in accordance with relevant standards and the dataset is obtained. Further an established dataset is used for estimating the UCS of rock via three-nonlinear prediction tools, namely non-linear multiple regression (NLMR), artificial neural network (ANN) and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). After conducting the mentioned models, considering several performance indices including coefficient of determination (R 2), variance account for and root mean squared error and also using simple ranking procedure, the models were examined and the best prediction model was selected. It is concluded that the R 2 equal to 0.951 for testing dataset suggests the superiority of the ANFIS model, while these values are 0.651 and 0.886 for NLMR and ANN techniques, respectively. The results pointed out that the ANFIS model can be used for predicting UCS of rocks with higher capacity in comparison with others. However, the developed model may be useful at a preliminary stage of design; it should be used with caution and only for the specified rock types.  相似文献

Backbreak is one of the undesirable effects of blasting operations causing instability in mine walls, falling down the machinery, improper fragmentation and reduction in efficiency of drilling. Backbreak can be affected by various parameters such as the rock mass properties, blasting geometry and explosive properties. In this study, the application of the artificial neural network (ANN), an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) for prediction of backbreak, was described and compared with the traditional statistical model of multiple regression. The performance of these models was assessed through the root mean square error, correlation coefficient (R 2) and mean absolute percentage error. As a result, it was found that the constructed ANFIS exhibited a higher performance than the ANN and multiple regression for backbreak prediction.  相似文献

The forecasting of air pollution is important for living environment and public health. The prediction of SO2 (sulfur dioxide), which is one of the indicators of air pollution, is a significant part of steps to be done in order to decrease the air pollution. In this study, a novel feature scaling method called neighbor-based feature scaling (NBFS) has been proposed and combined with artificial neural network (ANN) and adaptive network–based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) prediction algorithms in order to predict the SO2 concentration value is from air quality metrics belonging to Konya province in Turkey. This work consists of two stages. In the first stage, SO2 concentration dataset has been scaled using neighbor-based feature scaling. In the second stage, ANN and ANFIS prediction algorithms have been used to forecast the SO2 value of scaled SO2 concentration dataset. SO2 concentration dataset was obtained from Air Quality Statistics database of Turkish Statistical Institute. To constitute dataset, the mean values belonging to seasons of winter period have been used with the aim of watching the air pollution changes between dates of December, 1, 2003 and December, 30, 2005. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, the performance measures including mean absolute error (MAE), mean square error (MSE), root mean square error (RMSE), and IA (Index of Agreement) values have been used. After NBFS method applied to SO2 concentration dataset, the obtained RMSE and IA values are 83.87–0.27 (IA) and 93–0.33 (IA) using ANN and ANFIS, respectively. Without NBFS, the obtained RMSE and IA values are 85.31–0.25 (IA) and 117.71–0.29 (IA) using ANN and ANFIS, respectively. The obtained results have demonstrated that the proposed feature scaling method has been obtained very promising results in the prediction of SO2 concentration values.  相似文献

Reliable determination/evaluation of the rock deformation can be useful prior any structural design application. Young’s modulus (E) affords great insight into the characteristics of the rock. However, its direct determination in the laboratory is costly and time-consuming. Therefore, rock deformation prediction through indirect techniques is greatly suggested. This paper describes hybrid particle swarm optimization (PSO)–artificial neural network (ANN) and imperialism competitive algorithm (ICA)–ANN to solve shortcomings of ANN itself. In fact, the influence of PSO and ICA on ANN results in predicting E was studied in this research. By investigating the related studies, the most important parameters of PSO and ICA were identified and a series of parametric studies for their determination were conducted. All models were built using three inputs (Schmidt hammer rebound number, point load index and p-wave velocity) and one output which is E. To have a fair comparison and to show the capability of the hybrid models, a pre-developed ANN model was also constructed to estimate E. Evaluation of the obtained results demonstrated that a higher ability of E prediction is received developing a hybrid ICA–ANN model. Coefficient of determination (R2) values of (0.952, 0.943 and 0.753) and (0.955, 0.949 and 0.712) were obtained for training and testing of ICA–ANN, PSO–ANN and ANN models, respectively. In addition, VAF values near to 100 (95.182 and 95.143 for train and test) were achieved for a developed ICA–ANN hybrid model. The results indicated that the proposed ICA–ANN model can be implemented better in improving performance capacity of ANN model compared to another implemented hybrid model.

Prediction of rock fragmentation is essential for optimizing blasting operation. Fragmentation depends on many parameters such as rock mass properties, blast geometry and explosive properties. In this paper, artificial neural network (ANN) method is implemented to develop a model to predict rock fragmentation due to blasting in an iron ore mine. In the developing of the proposed model eight parameters such as hole diameter, burden, powder factor, blastability index, etc., were incorporated. Training of the model was performed by back-propagation algorithm using 220 datasets. A four-layer ANN was found to be optimum with architecture 10-9-7-1. Sensitivity analysis revealed that the most effective parameters on rock fragmentation are blastability index (G), charge per delay (J), burden (C), SMR (F) and powder factor (E).  相似文献

Blasting is the process of use of explosives to excavate or remove the rock mass. The main objective of blasting operation is to provide proper rock fragmentation and to avoid undesirable environmental impacts such as ground vibration, flyrock and back-break. Therefore, proper predicting and subsequently optimizing these impacts may reduce damage on facilities and equipment. In this study, an artificial neural network (ANN) was developed to predict flyrock and back-break resulting from blasting. To do this, 97 blasting works in Delkan iron mine, Iran, were investigated and required blasting parameters were collected. The most influential parameters on flyrock and back-break, i.e. burden, spacing, hole length, stemming, and powder factor were considered as model inputs. Results of absolute error (Ea) and root mean square error (RMSE) (0.0137 and 0.063 for Ea and RMSE, respectively) reveal that ANN as a powerful tool can predict flyrock and back-break with high degree of accuracy. In addition, this paper presents a new metaheuristic approximation approach based on the ant colony optimization (ACO) for solving the problem of flyrock and back-break in Delkan iron mine. Considering changeable parameters of the ACO algorithm, blasting pattern parameters were optimized to minimize results of flyrock and back-break. Eventually, implementing ACO algorithm, reductions of 61 and 58 % were observed in flyrock and back-break results, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, the type-2 fuzzy logic system (T2FLS) controller using the feedback error learning (FEL) strategy has been proposed for load frequency control (LFC) in the restructure power system. The original FEL strategy consists of an intelligent feedforward controller (INFC) (i.e. artificial neural network (ANN)) and the conventional feedback controller (CFC). The CFC acting as a general feedback controller to guarantee the stability of the system plays a crucial role in the transient state. The INFC is adopted in forward path to take over the control problem in the steady state. In this work, to improve the performance of the FEL strategy, the T2FLS is adopted instead of ANN in the INFC part due to its ability to model uncertainties, which may exist in the rules and measured data of sensors more effectively. The proposed FEL controller has been compared with a type-1 fuzzy logic system (T1FLS) – based FEL controller and the proportional, integral and derivative (PID) controller to highlight the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

In this study, an artificial neural network (ANN) and fuzzy logic (FL) study were developed to predict the compressive strength of silica fume concrete. A data set of a laboratory work, in which a total of 48 concretes were produced, was utilized in the ANNs and FL study. The concrete mixture parameters were four different water–cement ratios, three different cement dosages and three partial silica fume replacement ratios. Compressive strength of moist cured specimens was measured at five different ages. The obtained results with the experimental methods were compared with ANN and FL results. The results showed that ANN and FL can be alternative approaches for the predicting of compressive strength of silica fume concrete.  相似文献

Artificial neural network for prediction of air flow in a single rock joint   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper, an attempt has been made to evaluate and predict the air flow rate in triaxial conditions at various confining pressures incorporating cell pressure, air inlet pressure, and air outlet pressure using artificial neural network (ANN) technique. A three-layer feed forward back propagation neural network having 3-7-1 architecture network was trained using 37 data sets measured from laboratory investigation. Ten new data sets were used for the, validation and comparison of the air flow rate by ANN and multi-variate regression analysis (MVRA) to develop more confidence on the proposed method. Results were compared based on coefficient of determination (CoD) and mean absolute error (MAE) between measured and predicted values of air flow rate. It was found that CoD between measured and predicted air flow rate was 0.995 and 0.758 by ANN and MVRA, respectively, whereas MAE was 0.0413 and 0.1876.  相似文献

Wing rock is a highly nonlinear phenomenon in which an aircraft undergoes limit cycle roll oscillations at high angles of attack. In this paper, a supervisory recurrent fuzzy neural network control (SRFNNC) system is developed to control the wing rock system. This SRFNNC system is comprised of a recurrent fuzzy neural network (RFNN) controller and a supervisory controller. The RFNN controller is investigated to mimic an ideal controller and the supervisory controller is designed to compensate for the approximation error between the RFNN controller and the ideal controller. The RFNN is inherently a recurrent multilayered neural network for realizing fuzzy inference using dynamic fuzzy rules. Moreover, an on-line parameter training methodology, using the gradient descent method and the Lyapunov stability theorem, is proposed to increase the learning capability. Finally, a comparison between the sliding-mode control, the fuzzy sliding control and the proposed SRFNNC of a wing rock system is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the SRFNNC system. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed design method can achieve favorable control performance for the wing rock system without the knowledge of system dynamic functions.  相似文献

Gas holdup in a bubble column reactor filled with oil-based liquids was estimated by an artificial neural network (ANN). The ANN was trained using experimental data from the literature with various sparger pore diameters and a bubbly flow regime. The trained ANN was able to predict that the gas holdup of data did not seen during the training period over the studied range of physical properties, operating conditions, and sparger pore diameter with average normalized square error <0.05. Comparisons of the neural network predictions to correlations obtained from experimental data show that the neural network was properly designed and could powerfully estimate gas holdup in bubble column with oily solutions.  相似文献

This paper deals with the application of artificial neural network (ANN) based ANFIS approach to automatic generation control (AGC) of a three unequal area hydrothermal system. The proposed ANFIS controller combines the advantages of fuzzy controller as well as quick response and adaptability nature of ANN. Appropriate generation rate constraints (GRC) have been considered for the thermal and hydro plants. The hydro area is considered with an electric governor and thermal area is considered with reheat turbine. The design objective is to improve the frequency and tie-line power deviations of the interconnected system. 1% step load perturbation has been considered occurring either in any individual area or occurring simultaneously in all the areas. It is a maiden application of ANFIS approach to a three unequal area hydrothermal system with GRC considering perturbation in a single area as well as in all areas. The performance of the ANFIS controller is compared with the results of integral squared error (ISE) criterion based integral controller published previously. Simulation results are presented to show the improved performance of ANFIS controller in comparison with the conventional integral controller. The results indicate that the controllers exhibit better performance. In fact, ANFIS approach satisfies the load frequency control requirements with a reasonable dynamic response.  相似文献

Fuzzy system has been known to provide a framework for handling uncertainties and imprecision by taking linguistic information from human experts. However, difficulties arise in determining effectively the fuzzy system configuration, i.e., the number of rules, input and output membership functions. A neuro‐fuzzy system design methodology by combining neural network and fuzzy logic is developed in this paper to adaptively adjust the fuzzy membership functions and dynamically optimize the linguistic‐fuzzy rules. The structure of a five‐layer feedforward network is shown to determine systematically the correct fuzzy logic rules, tune optimally (in the sense of local region) the parameters of the membership functions, and perform accurately the fuzzy inference. It is shown both numerically and experimentally that engineering applications of the neuro‐fuzzy system to vibration control have been very successful.  相似文献

This study is about soot emission prediction of a waste-gated turbo-charged DI diesel engine using artificial neural network (ANN). For training the ANN model, six ranges of experimental data in previous study were used, and one range of data was kept for testing the accuracy of ANN predictions. The input parameters for the ANN are inlet manifold pressure, inlet manifold temperature, inlet air mass flow rate, fuel consumption, engine torque, and speed. Output parameter is the density of soot in the exhaust. The results show the ANN approach can be used to accurately predict soot emission of a turbo-charged diesel engine in different opening ranges of waste-gate (ORWG). Root mean-squared error (RMSE), fraction of variance (R 2), and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) for predictions were found to be 1.19 (mg/m3), 0.9998, and 6.4%, respectively.  相似文献

Engineering design has great importance in the cost and safety of engineering structures. Rock mass rating (RMR) system has become a reliable and widespread pre-design system for its ease of use and variety in engineering applications such as tunnels, foundations, and slopes. In RMR system, six parameters are employed in classifying a rock mass: uniaxial compressive strength of intact rock material (UCS), rock quality designation (RQD), spacing of discontinuities (SD), condition of discontinuities (CD), condition of groundwater (CG), and orientation of discontinuities (OD). The ratings of the first three parameters UCS, RQD, and SD are determined via graphic readings where the last three parameters CD, CG, and OD are estimated by the tables that are composed of interval valued linguistic expressions. Because of these linguistic expresions, the estimated rating values of the last three become fuzzy especially when the related conditions are close to border of any two classes. In such cases, these fuzzy situations could lead up incorrect rock class estimations. In this study, an empirical database based on the linguistic expressions for CD, CG, and OD is developed for training Artificial Neural Network (ANN) classifiers. The results obtained from graphical readings and ANN classifiers are unified in a simulation model (USM). The data obtained from five different tunnels, which were excavated for derivation purpose, are used to evaluate classification results of conventional method and proposed model. Finally, it is noted that more accurate and realistic ratings are reached by means of proposed model.  相似文献
