Efficient deterministic multiple objective optimal control of (bio)chemical processes

In practical optimal control problems multiple and conflicting objectives are often present, giving rise to a set of Pareto optimal solutions. Although combining the different objectives into a convex weighted sum and varying the weights is the most common approach to generate the Pareto front (when deterministic optimisation routines are exploited), it suffers from several intrinsic drawbacks. A uniform variation of the weights does not necessarily lead to an even spread on the Pareto front, and points in non-convex parts of the Pareto front cannot be obtained [Das, I., Dennis, J.E., 1997. A closer look at drawbacks of minimizing weighted sums of objectives for Pareto set generation in multicriteria optimization problems. Structural Optimization 14, 63-69]. Therefore, this paper investigates alternative approaches based on novel methods as normal boundary intersection [Das, I., Dennis, J.E., 1998. Normal-boundary intersection: a new method for generating the Pareto surface in nonlinear multicriteria optimization problems. SIAM Journal on Optimization 8, 631-657] and normalised normal constraint [Messac, A., Ismail-Yahaya, A., Mattson, C.A., 2003. The normalized normal constraint method for generating the Pareto frontier. Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization 25, 86-98] to mitigate these drawbacks. The resulting multiple objective optimal control procedures are successfully used in (i) the design of a chemical reactor with conflicting conversion and energy costs, and (ii) the control of a bioreactor with a conflict between yield and productivity.     

A Tabu search-based algorithm for mixed-integer nonlinear problems and its application to integrated process and control system design

In this contribution, we consider mixed-integer nonlinear programming problems subject to differential-algebraic constraints. This class of problems arises frequently in process design, and the particular case of integrated process and control system design is considered. Since these problems are frequently non-convex, local optimization techniques usually fail to locate the global solution. Here, we propose a global optimization algorithm, based on extensions of the metaheuristic Tabu Search, in order to solve this challenging class of problems in an efficient and robust way. The ideas of the methodology are explained and, on the basis of two case studies, the performance of the approach is evaluated. The first benchmark problem is a Wastewater Treatment Plant model [Alex, J., Bteau, J. F., Copp, J. B., Hellinga, C., Jeppsson, U., Marsili-Libelli, S., et al. (1999). Benchmark for evaluating control strategies in wastewater treatment plants. In Proceedings of the ECC’99 conference] for nitrogen removal and the second case study is the well-known Tennessee Eastman Process [Downs, J. J., & Vogel, E. F. (1993). A plant-wide industrial process control problem. Computers & Chemical Engineering, 17, 245-255]. Numerical experiments with our new method indicate that we can achieve an improved performance in both cases. Additionally, our method outperforms several other recent competitive solvers for the two challenging case studies considered.     

96%金都尔乳油防除夏芝麻田杂草试验

田间小区试验结果表明，96％金都尔乳油在576--756g a．i.／hm^2剂量下时夏芝麻田发生的牛筋草、马唐、狗尾草等禾本科杂草有较好的防除效果．在756--936g a．i．／hm^2剂量下时绿苋、青葙等防效中等，时茼麻、铁苋菜基本无效。在试验剂量下时芝麻安全。

75%磺酰磺隆WG防除春小麦田杂草及安全性研究

为明确75%磺酰磺隆WG对春小麦田杂草的防除效果及对当季春小麦和后茬作物的安全性影响,采用茎叶喷雾处理进行了田间药效试验。结果表明:施药后45 d,75%磺酰磺隆WG 10~40 g/hm2对北方春小麦田稗草、狗尾草、藜和卷茎蓼株防效和鲜重防效均在84.8%以上,且对春小麦安全。75%磺酰磺隆WG对当季后茬敏感作物白菜、油菜、生菜的根长、株鲜重有不同程度的抑制作用。75%磺酰磺隆WG在春小麦田喷雾使用可以有效防除禾本科杂草和阔叶杂草,但当季后茬不能种植敏感作物白菜、油菜、生菜。
