Magnetization measurements have been performed on the oxygen-isotopeexchanged samples (16O and 18O) of the one-layer cuprate superconductorsLa2–x Sr x CuO4 (0.06x0.20). We find that there is an oxygen-isotopeeffect on the effective supercarrier mass m**, which is huge for x=0.06,and reduced to a smaller value for x=0.15. We also find that there coexistsmall (bi)polarons and free carriers for x0.09, but only small (bi)polaronsare present for x0.09. The normal-state gap is related to the bipolaronbinding energy which is inversely proportional to x for 0.05x0.15. Theobserved isotope effects, supercarrier mass anisotropy, normal-state gap,and mid-infrared spectra for x0.09 can be quantitatively explained by the small(bi)polaron theory of superconductivity proposed by Alexandrov, Kabanov, andMott (AKM).  相似文献

The similarity equations for mixed-convection axisymmetric boundary-layer flow are considered. The equations involve a buoyancy parameter and a curvature parameter . The equations are solved numerically and it is found that for large , and of O(1), an asymptotic solution is approached, the nature of which is discussed. When is also large, of O(1/4), the problem, at leading order, becomes independent of the mainstream and the free-convection limit is obtained. This problem is also discussed, including the behaviour for large values of 0, the free-convection curvature parameter. For < 0 we find that the solution can be continued past the point where the wall heat transfer becomes zero (where previous mixed-convection similarity solutions in plane geometry were terminated) with the solution ending as 0. The nature of this limit is also discussed. For < 0 it is also found that there are solutions only in b = < 0 with two branches of solution bifurcating out of = b , and values of b are computed for a range of . The behaviour of the solution for large values of the curvature parameter , and of O(1), is discussed where it is shown that the solution proceeds in inverse powers of log .  相似文献

The microstructure and morphology of injection-moulded nylon-6 has been studied using wide-angle and small-angle X-ray diffraction, optical microscopy and a density measurement technique. A non-spherulitic surface layer consisting of a metastable pseudohexagonal phase surrounds the moulding and the thickness of the layer is sensitive to mould temperature. This outer structure gives way to a monoclinic phase containing spherulites between 3 and 6 m diameter. The central core of the moulding consists almost entirely of the phase with spherulites 6 m diameter, approximately. Exposure of nylon-6 to boiling water had no significant effect on the morphology of the moulding but the phase in the surface layer was transformed to the monoclinic phase.  相似文献

Three models of a vortex tube (isentropic, isothermal, and isochoric) are considered as optical inhomogeneities. Expressions relating the index of refraction to the coordinate are obtained. Summary The similarity solutions for free convection on a vertical plate when the (non-dimensional) plate temperature is x and when the (non-dimensional) surface heat flux is –x are considered. Solutions valid for 1 and 1 are obtained. Further, for the first problem it is shown that there is a value 0, dependent on the Prandtl number, such that solutions of the similarity equations are possible only for >0, and for the second problem that solutions are possible only for >–1 (for all Prandtl numbers). In both cases the solutions becomes singular as 0 and as –1, and the natures of these singularities are discussed.  相似文献

The isothermal transformation behaviour of the metallic glass Fe40Ni40P14B6 between 320 and 400° C is described. Crystallization occurs by a eutectic mechanism to form Fe-Ni austenite and a body-centred tetragonal phase which is isomorphous with Fe3P and Ni3P. The eutectic crystals have a barrel shape such that the c-axis of the tetragonal phase is parallel to the barrel axis. The orientation relationship between the two phases is 1 1 0T 1 1 0 and 0 0 1T 1 1 2. The austenite phase contains (1 1 1) twins.  相似文献

Pressure-induced metal-semiconductor transitions in bismuth-antimony alloys in a strong magnetic field (up to 70 kOe) at helium temperatures have been investigated. It is found that for values of the overlap-gap |G|1 meV the alloy forms an excitonic insulator (EI) in magnetic fields above a certain threshold (30–40 kOe). It is inferred that the EI energy gap increases with the magnetic field. The maximum gap observed in fields of 70 kOe turns out to be 007.5 K. An analysis of the results shows that transitions to the EI phase are observed from both the semimetal and the semiconducting states. The critical transition temperatureT c is related to the EI gap by the expressionT c0.7. Arguments are advanced in support of the fact that the formation of the EI phase involves the pairing of electrons at theL point with holes at theT point.  相似文献

The compacts consisted of , -Si3N4 and free silicon are heat treated in the range 1650° C to 1750° C in an argon atmosphere in order to observe the following behaviours; the to phase transformation and variations of the microstructure during heat treatment in silicon nitride. For the microstructural observation of the heat treated specimens, the same grains in the polished surface were investigated before and after eliminating the retained silicon by etching. The to phase transformation, in this case, occurs via silicon melts irrespective of added -Si3N4. Both and phases are soluted and precipitated into molten silicon and their morphology are changed from an equiaxed shape to prismatic one. Although elongated grains are precipitated at low temperature or in the early stage of heat treatment, fine precipitated grains are mainly observed with increasing heat treating temperature.  相似文献

From the second-sound velocityU 2 near the superfluid transition point, the superfluid densities in3He-4He mixtures, s (X) and s (), were deduced along the paths of constant3He concentrationX and of constant chemical potential difference of3He and4He. The following critical exponents of s are determined: (a) =XX for s (X) in the(X, T) plane,(b) X for s (X) in the(, T) plane, and(c) for s () in the(, T) plane. It is found that and X change by about 4–6% relative to with increasing3He concentration up toX=0.4 and by 8–10% up toX=0.53. It seems that, belowX=0.53, universality hold for . Values of have been found to be in good agreement with the critical exponent of s in pure4He under constant pressure. The values of and X forX0.53 are also found to be consistent with the scaling relations in the (,T) plane of3He-4He mixture.Work performed in part while at the Electrotechnical Laboratory.  相似文献

Ductile L20-type wires and+L12-type duplex wires with high strengths and large elongation in the Ni-Al-Fe and Ni-Al-Co ternary systems have been manufactured directly from the liquid state by an in-rotating-water spinning method. The wire diameter was in the range 80 to 180m and the average grain size was 2 to 4m for the wires and 0.2 to 1.0m for the+ wires. y, f and p of the wires were found to be about 360 to 760 MPa, 560 to 960 MPa, and 0.2 to 5.5%, respectively, for the Ni-Al-Fe system, those of the+ wires were about 395 to 660 MPa, 670 to 1285 MPa, and 3.5 to 17%, respectively, for the Ni-Al-Fe system, and about 260 to 365 MPa, 600 to 870 MPa, and 4.0 to 7.0%, respectively, for the Ni-Al-Co system. Cold-drawing caused a significant increase in y and f and the values attained were about 1850 and 2500 MPa, respectively, for Ni-20Al-30Fe and Ni-25Al-30Co wires drawn to about 90% reduction in area. The high strengths, large elongation and good cold-workability of the melt-quenched and+ compound wires have been inferred to be due to the structural change into a low-degree ordered state containing a high density of phase boundaries, suppression of grain-boundary segregation and refinement of grain size.  相似文献

Summary The hypersonic small-disturbance theory is reexamined in this study. A systematic and rigorous approach is proposed to obtain the nonlinear asymptotic equation from the Taylor-Maccoll equation for hypersonic flow past a circular cone. Using this approach, consideration is made of a general asymptotic expansion of the unified supersonic-hypersonic similarity parameter together with the stretched coordinate. Moreover, the successive approximate solutions of the nonlinear hypersonic smalldisturbance equation are solved by iteration. Both of these approximations provide a closed-form solution, which is suitable for the analysis of various related flow problems. Besides the velocity components, the shock location and other thermodynamic properties are presented. Comparisons are also made of the zeroth-order with first-order approximations for shock location and pressure coefficient on the cone surface, respectively. The latter (including the nonlinear effects) demonstrates better correlation with exact solution than the zeroth-order approximation. Glass fibre-reinforced plastic (GRP) cylinders are increasingly used for highly stressed structural elements. The higher the demands on the materials, the higher are the fault detection requirements to be met by non-destructive materials testing methods. Acousto-ultrasonics is a valuable aid for the non-destructive evaluation of GRP composite materials, because it may be the answer to evaluating effects of subtle defects in composites. The aim of the research is to evaluate the burst pressure of GRP cylinders by acousto-ultrasonics techniques. The theoretical results have been found to be in good agreement with the experimental values. For thin absorbers, the Landau theory incorporating certain above-listed corrections is a general-purpose one and is in good agreement with experiment both for heavy and light charged particles 0.01. 2. The dependence of the magnetic momentm obtained from the hysteresis loops on the speed of the magnetic field sweep =dH ext/dt is explained on the basis of Anderson's interpretation of the magnetic flux creep. In addition, a phenomenological model is suggested which predicts a linear dependence ofm on ln with the slope m/ ln , numerically equal to the relaxation rate m/ ln(t) from the usual magnetic relaxation. Such linear relations betweenm and ln were observed experimentally in single crystals of YBaCuO. Preliminary experiments on the complementary time dependent relaxation ofm after a simulated step change ofH ext gave mostly relaxation rates close to the predicted values. The model here presented also enables one to compare the critical state in the superconductor at a field sweep rate with the critical state at some timet eff after a step change ofH ext. The values of analyzed in our experiments actually correspond to the critical state at timest eff between0.04 and4 sec after an imaginary large step change ofH ext.  相似文献

We consider the stochastic behaviour of a Markovian bivariate process {(C(t), N(t)), t0} whose statespace is a semi-stripS={0,1}×. The intensity matrix of the process is taken to get a limit distributionP ij =lim t+ P{(C(t), N(t))=(i, j)} such that {P 0j ,j }, or alternatively {P 1j ,j }, satisfies a system of equations of birth and death type. We show that this process has applications to queues with repeated attempts and queues with negative arrivals. We carry out an extensive analysis of the queueing process, including classification of states, stationary analysis, waiting time, busy period and number of customers served.  相似文献

The dielectric constants and loss factors,, for pure single-crystal MgO and for Fe-and Cr-doped crystals have been measured at frequencies, , from 500 Hz to 500 kHz at room temperature. For pure MgO at 1 kHz the values of and the loss tangent, tan , (9.62 and 2.16×10–3, respectively) agree well with the data of Von Hippel; the conductivity, , varies as n withn=0.98±0.02. In Fe-doped crystals increases with Fe-concentration (at any given frequency); for a crystal doped with 12800 ppm Fe, was about four times the value for pure MgO. At all concentrations the variation of log with log was linear andn=0.98±0.02. A decrease in with increasing Fe-concentration was also observed. A similar, although less pronounced, behaviour was found in Cr-doped crystals. The effects are discussed in terms of hopping mechanisms.  相似文献

The singularity in the vapor-liquid interfacial tension, (T), of helium at the transition to superfluidity is analyzed theoretically. The universal amplitude ratio R + =K+( 0 + )d–1/k B T , where K+ and K are the amplitudes of the |T–T|µ singularity in , with =1.34 3 , is known from recent work to first order in =4–d for the general n-vector model in d dimensions. Extrapolation to d=3 for n=2 indicates R + =0.05–0.08, which is shown to be consistent with the experimental data. Further analysis of the experiments establishes that the universal ratio Q=K+/K exceeds 0.35, and is consistent with the recent prediction Q0.9; this demonstrates the inadequacies of earlier theoretical treatments. The existence in the observed surface tension of an anomalous, negative contribution of unknown origin at a few millikelvin beneath T is stressed.  相似文献

A new rationale is presented for various decomposition products obtained from the metastable -phase found in Ti-6A1-4V alloy produced by hot isostatic pressing comminuted melt-spun fibres and cooled to room temperature by furnace cooling. This alloy has an -matrix with about 8 vol% retained -phase, which is supersaturated with -stabilizers to such an extent that the martensitic transformation has been suppressed. The metastable -phase decomposes by different modes during continuous cooling, depending on the actual composition of individual -grains. Less enrichment of vanadium and iron favours the direct formation of the equilibrium -phase from the -matrix, while greater enrichment of vanadium and iron leads to a spinodal decomposition of the metastable -phase, resulting in a + two-phase structure. During further continuous cooling, the -phase which is lean in -stabilizers will transform into isothermal -phase. In addition, an unknown phase has also been observed in the -phase, which is typified by the appearance of 1/2{112} reflections in the SAD patterns.  相似文献

A bilinear formulation of elasto-dynamics is offered which includes, as a special case, Hamilton's law of varying action. However, the more general bilinear formulation has several advantages over Hamilton's law. First, it admits a larger class of initial-value and boundary-value problems. Second, in its variational form, it offers physical insight into the so-called trailing terms of Hamilton's law. Third, numerical applications (i.e., finite elements in time) can be proven to be convergent under correct application of the bilinear formulation, whereas they can be demonstrated to diverge for specific problems under Hamilton's law. Fourth, the bilinear formulation offers automatic convergence of the natural velocity end conditions; while these must be constrained in present applications of Hamilton's law. Fifth, the bilinear formulation can be implemented in terms of a Larange multiplier that gives an order of magnitude improvement in the convergence of velocity.
