Ferroalloy production in Russia

Russian production and demand for ferroalloys are considered. The main ferroalloy producers are noted. The volume of imports and exports and the apparent demand for the main Russian ferroalloys between 1990 and 2014 are detailed. The change in the structure of ferroalloy production, globally and in Russia, is outlined. Priorities for the Russian ferroalloy industry in order to improve global and domestic competitiveness are recommended.     

Psychological Services Center at the State University of New York at Albany: A case study.

Discusses a model for the development and implementation of a psychology training center shared by clinical and counseling psychology programs. The history of the psychological services center and its administrative structure are reviewed, and professional issues such as training and service are discussed. Results of an attitudinal survey completed by students show that they considered their experience at the center to have played a positive role in their professional development. Status and prospects of railroad-rail production in Russia

The intensive use of railroad rails in Russia has drawn attention to the quality of the metal used in the transport industry. The Ministry of Railroads (MPS) has tightened standards for rails with respect to the absence of internal and surface defects, length, and the accuracy of the geometric dimensions. Railroads now have choices in regard to the rails they use, given the broad market for these products. They can now purchase not only Russian rails, but also rails made abroad (preferring the latter for several reasons).

Rodent trapping and drag sampling in Van Cortlandt Park, New York City, yielded all stages of Ixodes scapularis, the deer tick vector of Lyme disease and human granulocytic ehrlichiosis (HGE). Polymerase chain reaction analyses of the ticks showed Borrelia burgdorferi and the Ehrlichia sp. that causes HGE.     

Neurosurgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo

We treated five patients with auricular deformities (microtia in microform and group IIB or III constricted ears) using the following procedure: nearly all of the contralateral conchal cartilage was resected, grafted, and sutured to supplement a cartilaginous deficit and to keep the supporting frame of conchal cartilage expanded by the double banner flap method. After this, a soft tissue deficit was reconstructed by our newly developed method of covering the defect with a triangular flap superior to the auricle by making a skin incision and a rhomboid flap anterior to the auricle. So far, we have obtained satisfactory results using this one-stage procedure.
