In this paper, high-porosity Al2O3 ceramic foams called Al2O3 PHM ceramics were fabricated through selective laser sintering (SLS) via Al2O3 poly-hollow microspheres (Al2O3 PHMs). SLS parameters were optimized by an orthogonal experiment as to be laser power = 6 W, scanning speed = 1800 mm/s, and scanning space = 0.15 mm. The effect of sintering temperature on microstructure, shrinkage, porosity, phase composition, mechanical properties and pore size distribution of Al2O3 PHM ceramics were investigated. When sintering temperature increased, Al2O3 PHM ceramics contained only Al2O3 phase and were gradually densified. With the raise of sintering temperature, the porosity of Al2O3 PHM ceramics decreased gradually from 77.09% to 72.41%, but shrinkage in H direction and compressive strength of Al2O3 PHM ceramics increased from 6.63% and 0.18 MPa to 13.10% and 0.72 MPa, respectively. Sintering temperature had little effect on pore size distribution of Al2O3 PHM ceramics, which only declined from 24.2 to 21.4 μm with the increase of sintering temperature from 1600 to 1650 °C. This method can not only directly prepare ceramic foams with complex shapes, but also control properties of ceramic foams. It provides a simple preparation method for many kinds of ceramic foams with complex structure and high porosity by using PHMs with different composition.  相似文献

Textured hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) matrix composite ceramics were prepared by hot pressing using 3Y2O3-5Al2O3 (mole ratio of 3:5) and 3Y2O3-5Al2O3-4MgO (mole ratio of 3:5:4) as liquid phase sintering additives, respectively. During the sintering process with liquid phase environments, platelike h-BN grains were rotated to be perpendicular to the sintering pressure, forming the preferred orientation with the c-axis parallel to the sintering pressure. Both h-BN matrix ceramic specimens show significant texture microstructures and anisotropic mechanical and thermal properties. The h-BN matrix ceramics prepared with 3Y2O3-5Al2O3-4MgO possess higher texture degree and better mechanical properties. While the anisotropy of thermal conductivities of that prepared with 3Y2O3-5Al2O3 is more significant. The phase compositions and degree of grain orientation are the key factors that affect their anisotropic properties.  相似文献

The electrical conductivity of CaF2‐doped aluminum nitride (AlN) ceramics was characterized at high temperatures, up to 500°C, by AC impedance spectroscopy. High thermal conductive CaF2‐doped AlN ceramics were sintered with a second additive, Al2O3, added to control the electrical conductivity. The effects of calcium fluoride (CaF2) on microstructure and related electrical conductivity of AlN ceramics were examined. Investigation into the microstructure of specimens by TEM analysis showed that AlN ceramics sintered with only CaF2 additive have no secondary phases at grain boundaries. Addition of Al2O3 caused the formation of amorphous phases at grain boundaries. Addition of Al2O3 to CaF2‐doped AlN ceramics at temperatures 200°C–500°C revealed a variation in electrical resistivity that was four orders of magnitude larger than for the specimen without Al2O3. The amorphous phase at the grain boundary greatly increases the electrical resistivity of AlN ceramics without causing a significant deterioration of thermal conductivity.  相似文献

The mechanical properties of porous ceramics prepared by poly-hollow microspheres (PHMs) is usually low because of the weak bonding between different ceramic PHMs. In this paper, CaSiO3 were coated to the surface of Al2O3 PHMs through co-precipitation method as sintering additive to improve the properties of Al2O3 poly-hollow microsphere ceramics (Al2O3 PHM ceramics). The influence of different amount of CaCl2 solution on properties of the Al2O3 PHM ceramics such as phase composition, microstructure, porosity and mechanical properties were studied. The porosity of the Al2O3 PHM ceramics decreased from 77.03% to 68.16% with the increase of CaCl2 solution amount, while compressive strength increased 29 times from 0.29 MPa to 8.39 MPa. The addition of the CaSiO3 could decrease the sintering temperature of Al2O3 PHM ceramics and significantly improve the mechanical properties of Al2O3 PHM ceramics, which is beneficial for preparing highly porous Al2O3 PHM ceramics with high mechanical properties and complex shapes.  相似文献

When used as implants, Al2O3 is unable of directly achieving good chemical bonding with soft and hard tissues. To overcome this problem, SiAlON–Al2O3 ceramics were prepared in this study by direct nitridation. Phase composition, porosity, bulk density, and compression strengths were examined, and biological properties were evaluated by cell culture on ceramic surface. Major phase of SiAlON–Al2O3 ceramics was identified as Si4Al2O2N6, formed by reaction of Si, Al and Al2O3 under nitrogen atmosphere at high temperature. As Al2O3 content increased, porosity and compressive strength decreased. Therefore, Si4Al2O2N6 phase could improve sintering, leading to formation of composites with better properties. The porosity and compression strength were found suitable for requirement of biomaterials. Cell culture experiments showed that cells could proliferate and survival well on ceramic surface, indicating good biocompatibility of Si4Al2O2N6 phase in SiAlON–Al2O3 ceramics. Overall, these data look promising and might provide novel strategies for development of future SiAlON–Al2O3 bioceramics.  相似文献

To investigate the effects of Y2O3 on the physical properties and biocompatibility of β–SiAlON ceramics, β–SiAlON ceramics were prepared with Al, Si, and α–Al2O3 powders using a direct nitriding technique. As a sintering additive, Y2O3 helps lower the sintering temperature and forms β–SiAlON ceramics. In this study, the physical and biological properties of the prepared ceramics were investigated to evaluate their use as bone-repairing material. Experiments revealed that the main crystal composition of the sample was Si4Al2O2N6, containing small amount of additional phases Y3Al5O12 with increasing content of Y2O3. The porosity and compressive strength initially decrease and then increase to their initial values, whereas the bulk density exhibits the opposite trend with an increased proportion of Y2O3. The proliferation of osteoblastic and angiogenic cells demonstrates that β–SiAlON and Y3Al5O12 have good biocompatibility; however, the sample porosity has a slight effect on the cell proliferation rate. This implies that in human tissues, bone-repairing speed can be adjusted by modifying the sample porosity or material surface roughness. Therefore, Y2O3 can be added to β–SiAlON ceramics to regulate their microstructure, physical properties, and biological properties for tissue engineering applications.  相似文献

The glasses with compositions derived from the eutectic composition [37.78 (Y3Al5O12)·62.22 (SiO2)] of the quasi-binary glass system (Y3Al5O12)-(SiO2) with addition of up to 20 mol.% CaO were investigated as model grain boundary phases for Si3N4 ceramics. The influence of CaO as model impurity on the physical properties of the glass (density, thermal expansion) and on the crystallisation behaviour was studied. Although the initial composition of the basic glass was that of yttrium-aluminium garnet (Y3Al5O12–YAG), no crystalline YAG was detected. Apart from yttrium disilicate (Y2Si2O7), anorthite (CaAl2Si2O8), tricalcium aluminate (Ca3Al2O6), and calcium yttrium oxide silicate (Ca4Y6O(SiO4)6), a new phase was detected, not found in the powder diffraction file (PDF) database. Cavities were formed within the devitrified glass due to the volume contraction after crystallisation. Possible implications for the mechanical properties of Si3N4 ceramics sintered with addition of Y2O3–Al2O3 are discussed in terms of the observed compositional dependences of the physical properties of CaO–Y2O3–Al2O3–SiO2 glasses.  相似文献

Herein, Al2O3–ZrO2 multiphase ceramics with a eutectic molar ratio were prepared using the flash sintering technique at 1200 °C in 2 min. The samples were divided into two regions according to the microscopic morphology: multiphase ceramics zone and eutectic ceramics zone. The multiphase ceramics zone uniformly distributed irregular Al2O3 and ZrO2 phases. The eutectic zone presented typical eutectic morphology, where different morphologies of ZrO2 was uniformly embedded in the Al2O3 matrix, mainly showing fine lamellar, rod-like and irregular network morphology. Overall, flash sintering is a promising route to prepare high-performance multiphase ceramics.  相似文献

Mullite synthesized from alumina and silica with the sesquioxide of a 3d-transition metal added (Me = Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, and Fe) is capable of forming solid solutions of composition Al6–x Me xSi2O13. It is shown, using data obtained by methods of x-ray phase analysis, electron paramagnetic resonance, infrared spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility, that the aluminum atoms located at octahedral positions of the mullite lattice can be isomorphously replaced by Me metals. The effect of this replacement on the strength of mullite and mullite-based ceramics is considered.  相似文献

Herein, porous calcium hexaluminate ceramics that contain pores exhibiting multiple morphologies were fabricated via in situ reaction sintering using α-Al2O3 powders and pre-fired CaO/Al2O3 pellets. The results indicated that the composition of the pre-fired CaO/Al2O3 pellets significantly affected the pore morphology, reaction-diffusion mechanisms, sintering behaviour and properties of the porous CA6 ceramics. For the specimens containing low CaO/Al2O3-ratio (0.37) pellets, the main reaction occurred by solid state diffusion, i.e. ion diffusion through the solid reactant phase, which resulted in a slow process and low CA6 formation rate at an elevated sintering temperature. With higher CaO/Al2O3-ratio (0.57) pellets, large-sized pores were observed because of transient liquid phase diffusion during the sintering process. The transient liquid phase diffusion effect increased the porosity of the porous ceramics and promoted the formation of a large number of plate-like CA6 grains in the walls of the pores, enhancing their mechanical properties and high-temperature performance. The porous CA6 ceramics containing high CaO/Al2O3-ratio (0.57) pellets sintered at 1700 °C exhibited high open porosity (55.88%), low thermal conductivity and excellent high-temperature performance.  相似文献

0.73ZrTi2O6–0.27MgNb2O6 ceramics with various Al2O3 contents (0‐2.0 wt%) were prepared by conventional ceramic route. The effects of Al2O3 on the phase composition, microstructure, conductivity, and microwave dielectric properties were systematically investigated. The coexistence of a disordered α–PbO2‐type phase and a rutile second phase was found in all compact ceramics with low Al2O3 contents (= 0, 0.5, and 1.0 wt%), while a corundum phase was detected when Al2O3 additive increased to 1.5 and 2.0 wt% based on X‐ray diffraction results. With the addition of Al2O3, the decreased grain size of the matrix phase was observed using field‐emission scanning electron microscope, accompanied with increased resistivity and band‐gap energy. Additionally, Al2O3 additives efficiently improved the quality factor of the ceramics. After sintering at 1360°C for 3 hours, the ceramic with 1.0 wt% Al2O3 exhibited excellent microwave dielectric properties: a dielectric constant of 43.8, a quality factor of 33 900 GHz (at 6.6 GHz), and a near‐zero temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (3.1 ppm/°C).  相似文献

Al2O3/Lu3Al5O12 (LuAG) directionally solidified eutectic (DSE) ceramics with two solidification rates were prepared utilizing optical floating zone (OFZ) technique. The microstructures (eutectic morphology, preferred growth direction and interface orientation) of Al2O3/LuAG were characterized, and the mechanical properties (Vickers hardness and fracture toughness) were compared with those of Al2O3/REAG (RE = Y, Er, and Yb). Results show that Al2O3/LuAG with solidification rate of 30 mm/h has established preferred growth direction in both Al2O3 and LuAG phases with cellular eutectic structures. While Al2O3/LuAG with solidification rate of 10 mm/h only shows preferred growth direction in Al2O3 phase and presents degenerate irregular eutectic microstructures. Besides, Al2O3/LuAG exhibits higher hardness compared with Al2O3/REAG (RE = Y, Er, and Yb). In addition, a special attention is focused on the relations among rare earth ionic radius, eutectic microstructures, and mechanical properties of these DSE ceramics. It is demonstrated that a smaller rare earth ionic radius could lead to larger eutectic interspacing as well as higher Vickers hardness of DSE Al2O3/REAG, revealing the possibility and feasibility of microstructure control and mechanical properties optimization for DSE Al2O3/REAG ceramics by tailoring the rare earth elements.  相似文献

Silicon carbide (SiC) ceramics have been fabricated by pressureless liquid phase sintering with Al2O3 and rare-earth oxides (Lu2O3, Er2O3 and CeO2) as sintering additives. The effect was investigated of the different types of rare earth oxides on the mechanical property, thermal conductivity and microstructure of pressureless liquid phase sintered SiC ceramics. The room temperature mechanical properties of the ceramics were affected by the type of rare earth oxides. The high temperature performances of the ceramics were influenced by the triple junction grain boundary phases. With well crystallized triple junction grain boundary phase, the SiC ceramic with Al2O3–Lu2O3 as sintering additive showed good high temperature (1300 °C) performance. With clean SiC grain boundary, the SiC ceramic with Al2O3–CeO2 as sintering additive showed good room temperature thermal conductivity. By using appropriate rare earth oxide, targeted tailoring of the demanding properties of pressureless liquid phase sintered SiC ceramics can be achieved.  相似文献

The directionally solidified Al2O3/MgAl2O4/ZrO2 ternary eutectic ceramic was prepared via induction heating zone melting. Smooth Al2O3/MgAl2O4/ZrO2 eutectic ceramic rods with diameters of 10 mm were successfully obtained. The results demonstrate that the eutectic rods consist of Al2O3, MgAl2O4 and ZrO2 phases. In the eutectic microstructure, the MgAl2O4 and Al2O3 phases form the matrix, the ZrO2 phase with a fibre or shuttle shape is embedded in the matrix, and a quasi-regular eutectic microstructure formed, presenting a typical in situ composite pattern. During the eutectic growth, the ZrO2 phase grew on non-faceted phases ahead of the matrix growing on the faceted phase. The hardness and fracture toughness of the eutectic ceramics reached 12 GPa and 6.1 MPa·m 1/2, respectively, i.e., two times and 1.7 times the values of the pre-sintered ceramic, respectively. In addition, the ZrO2 phase in the matrix reinforced the matrix, acting as crystal whiskers to reinforce the sintered ceramic.  相似文献

Ca0.9La0.067TiO3 (abbreviated as CLT) ceramics doped with different amount of Al2O3 were prepared via the solid state reaction method. The anti-reduction mechanism of Ti4+ in CLT ceramics was carefully investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to analyze the phase composition and lattice structure. Meanwhile, the Rietveld method was taken to calculate the lattice parameters. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was employed to study the valence variation of Ti ions in CLT ceramics without and with Al2O3. The results showed that Al3+ substituted for Ti4+ to form solid solution and the solid solubility limit of Al3+ is near 1.11 mol%. Furthermore, the reduction of Ti4+ in CLT ceramics was restrained by acceptor doping process and the Q × f values of CLT ceramics were improved significantly. The CLT ceramic doped with 1.11 mol% Al2O3 exhibited good microwave dielectric properties: εr = 141, Q × f = 6848 GHz, τf = 576 ppm/°C.  相似文献

The preparation of various strontium aluminates including SrAl2O4 (SrO–Al2O3), Sr3Al2O6 (3SrO–Al2O3), and Sr4Al4O10 (4SrO–2Al2O3) was performed by using a simple aqueous sol–gel processing. The formation of strontium aluminate phases was investigated as a function of temperature in the range of 700–1200 °C. The obtained compounds were doped with cerium in the concentration range of 0.25–3.00 mol%. The sol–gel derived samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analysis, infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. It was demonstrated that optical properties of obtained phosphor materials slightly depend on the nature, crystal structure and phase purity of the strontium aluminate matrix.  相似文献

Recently, the rapid development of advanced communication systems increasingly strongly demands high-performance microwave dielectric ceramics in microwave circuits. Among them, Li2ZnTi3O8 ceramics have been one of the most widely investigated species, due to its high quality factor, moderate firing conditions and low cost. However, the dielectric constants of the already reported Li2ZnTi3O8 ceramics are fixed in a narrow range, limiting their wider applications. To adjust the dielectric constant of the Li2ZnTi3O8 based ceramics, in this work Li2ZnTi3O8 ceramics added with different amounts of Al2O3 (0–8?wt%) were prepared by conventional solid-state reaction. The microstructure and microwave dielectric properties of the samples were investigated. Due to the addition of Al2O3, the sintering temperature of the ceramics would be increased somewhat. Some Al3+ ions could substitute for Ti4+ ions in Li2ZnTi3O8, and the added Al2O3 would react with ZnO to produce a ZnAl2O4 phase accompanying with the formation of TiO2 phase, which would inhibit the growth of Li2ZnTi3O8 grains. The dielectric constant of the finally obtained ceramics would be reduced from 26.2 to 17.9, although the quality factors of the obtained ceramics would decrease somewhat and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency would deviate further from zero.  相似文献

Compact Al2O3‐MgO·Al2O3‐CaO·6Al2O3 (AMC) composite was obtained by melting technology using industrial alumina, light‐burned magnesia, and quick lime as raw materials based on the Al2O3‐MgO‐CaO ternary phase diagram. The results show that the phases of MgO·Al2O3 and Al2O3 are formed as the main framework with plate‐like CaO·6Al2O3 crystals mainly discontinuously embedded in MgO·Al2O3. The bulk density of AMC composite is up to 3.42 g/cm3, equivalent to 90.5% of the theoretical density. The synthesized compact AMC composite in the work also exhibits better slag penetration resistance than the castable based on tabular corundum due to the formation of liquid phase.  相似文献

Highly densified Al4SiC4 ceramics with a relative density of 96.1% were prepared by pressureless sintering using 2 wt% Y2O3 as additives. The densification mechanism, phase composition, microstructures and mechanical properties of Al4SiC4 ceramics were investigated. Y2O3 in-situ reacted with the oxygen impurities in Al4SiC4 powder to form a yttrium aluminate liquid phase during sintering, which promoted the densification and anisotropic grain growth. The final Al4SiC4 ceramics were composed of equiaxed grains and columnar grains, and presented a bimodal grain distribution. The mechanical properties of the pressureless sintered Al4SiC4 ceramics were better than those reported for hot pressed Al4SiC4, including a flexural strength of 369 ± 24 MPa, fracture toughness of 4.8 ± 0.1 MPa m1/2 and Vickers hardness of 11.3 ± 0.2 GPa. Pressureless sintering of Al4SiC4 ceramics is of great significance for the development and practical application of Al4SiC4 ceramic parts, especially with big size and complex shape.  相似文献
