A novel design of dual‐frequency dual‐sense circularly polarized (CP) substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity‐backed slot antenna is presented for dual‐band wireless communication systems. The proposed antenna consists of square SIW cavity, asymmetrical bow‐tie‐shaped cross slot and probe feed. Due to use of asymmetrical bow‐tie‐shaped cross slot, circularly polarized wave radiates at two different frequencies with opposite sense of polarizations. The RHCP radiation occurs at (10.45‐10.54) GHz (Lower band) and LHCP occurs at (11.26‐11.34) GHz (Upper band). Moreover, in each band, sense of polarization can be change by changing the feed position. The front to back radiation ratio (FTBRR) is more than 10.5 dB and cross polarization level is lower than ?20 dB in both the bands.  相似文献

A dual‐band dual‐polarized hybrid aperture‐cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) is examined in this article. Inverted regular pentagon shaped aperture is not only used to launch two radiating hybrid modes (HEM11δ and HEM12δ mode) in CDRA but also act as a radiator. Out of two frequency bands, the lower frequency band is linearly polarized while upper frequency band is the combination of both circular and linear polarization. A circular polarization (CP) characteristic in upper frequency band is created by loading quarter annular stub with microstrip line. LHCP/RHCP can easily be controlled by alternating the position of quarter annular stub. It is operating over two frequency ranges i.e. 2.48‐2.98 GHz and 4.66‐5.88 GHz with the fractional bandwidth 18.31% and 23.14% respectively. Axial ratio bandwidth (3‐dB) is approximately 8.78% (4.9‐5.35 GHz) in upper frequency band. The proposed antenna design is suitable WiMAX (2.5/5.5 GHz) and WLAN (2.5/5.5 GHz) applications.  相似文献

A dual‐mode circularly polarized compact antenna with integrated left‐hand and right‐hand circular polarization (LHCP and RHCP) is presented in this work. A multilayer arrangement of a square patch and square ring structure with an irregular transmission line is analyzed for dual‐band, dual‐CP operation. To realize dual mode propagation the proposed structure is excited using electromagnetic coupling technique. Succeeding proximity feeding with T‐stub match is analyzed, which conveys impedance bandwidth of 180 and 300 MHz within |S11| < ?10 dB at 3.5 and 5.5 GHz. The designed CP elements is suitably arranged with feed line for generating two orthogonal polarization of equal amplitude and a 90° phase difference at both the resonant modes (TM10 and TM01). Alterable LHCP and RHCP performance is realized by altering the compensated position and peculiar angle. Having both LHCP and RHCP polarization this design shows polarization insensitive characteristic. Each LHCP and RHCP antenna element accomplished a 3‐dB AR of 70 and 120 MHz with a gain up to 6 dBi. With a low profile of 0.27λ0 × 0.27λ0 × 0.04λ0, the CP antenna is fabricated, and the performance is validated through experimental analysis. With all the viable characteristics, the antenna is proposed for Wi‐MAX/WLAN communication.  相似文献

A novel single‐fed dual‐band circular‐polarization (CP) reconfigurable liquid dielectric resonator antenna (LDRA) using 3D printing technology is proposed in this article. With the quasi‐TE111 and ‐TE113 modes of the rectangular LDRA excited, a dual‐band design is achieved. To realize the CP reconfigurability, a combined container, holding the fluidic dielectric (Ethyl acetate, ε r = 6.6), is fabricated by 3D printing technology. Therefore, the CP can be switched between two different states: (1) left hand CP (LHCP), when the right oblique container is full of the liquid solution; (2) right hand CP (RHCP), when the liquid solution is transferred into the left oblique one. Measured results demonstrate that the proposed antenna can achieve the CP reconfigurability in dual band, with the wide bandwidths (|S11| < ?10 dB and AR < 3 dB) of 10.4% (1.55‐1.72 GHz) and 9.7% (2.29‐2.52 GHz), which cover GPS and WLAN bands.  相似文献

In this article, a geometrically simple, microstrip line‐fed planar monopole structure with slanting edge ground plane is designed to realize the dual‐band dual‐polarized operation. The proposed antenna consists of a rotated U‐shaped patch and an electromagnetically coupled L‐shaped parasitic radiating element. Owing to the combination of microstrip line‐fed radiating patch and a slanting‐edge rectangular ground plane on the opposite side of the substrate, the proposed dual‐band antenna can generate broad axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW) in the upper frequency band. The overall dimension of the prototype is only 32 × 32 × 1.6 mm3. The measured results validate that the proposed antenna has two operational frequency bands, 29.84% (1.54‐2.08 GHz) for linearly polarized radiation and 71.85% (3.96‐8.4 GHz) for circularly polarized radiation. Measured result shows that 3‐dB ARBW of the proposed antenna is 73.54% (3.80‐8.22 GHz) in the higher frequency band. It shows that the higher frequency band exhibits a left‐hand circularly polarized radiation in the boresight direction.  相似文献

A dual‐polarization conversion transmitarray is proposed for a circularly polarized (CP) transmitarray antenna. The designed transmitarray realizes the polarization conversion and gain enhancement for the circular polarization incident wave. The transmitarray can transform the left‐hand circularly polarization (LHCP) wave and the right hand circularly polarization (RHCP) wave into RHCP and LHCP waves, respectively. Two CP patch antennas are designed as source antennas to illuminate the transmitarray and form the transmitarray antenna. The experimental and simulation results show that the designed transmitarray realizes the polarization conversation and the gain enhancement for two CP antennas indeed.  相似文献

A polarization and frequency reconfigurable circularly polarized (CP) antenna is proposed based on a novel bilateral switching mechanism. Two triangular monopole antennas are connected to each other in an L‐shaped form by a narrow link to produce a CP operation. In the proposed technique, 4 PIN‐diode‐based switches are designed with desired insertion loss and isolation, and only 2 DC‐voltage controllers. These switches are located on the links and the feed lines to realize a polarization reconfigurable feature including both right‐hand CP (RHCP) and left‐hand CP (LHCP) modes. Moreover, 2 CP states, a single wideband operation and a dual‐band operation, can be supported by this mechanism. In a special performance of the switches, CP reconfigurability can be obtained in a narrow‐band mode around 2.45 GHz. Two general simulations are performed based on the simple microstrip links and a diode‐circuit model. The measured results exhibit a wide overlapped bandwidth (AR < 3 dB and VSWR < 2) of 44.4% (1.63–2.56 GHz) with a peak gain of 2.88 dBi in the first state and 5.5% (1.22~1.29GHz) and 20.6% (2.12–2.61 GHz) with the peak gains of 0.52 and 3.0 dBi in the second state, respectively. A wide beamwidth is obtained more than 75°. This work is appropriate for L‐ and S‐band CP diversity applications.  相似文献

This article presents a dual‐band dual‐polarized end‐loaded quasi‐open‐sleeve dipole antenna (ELQOSDA) with stable radiation patterns for WLAN applications. The ELQOSDA consists of an end‐loaded planar dipole and two parasitic strips. Dual polarization is obtained by two ELQOSDAs perpendicularly crossing, with some parts overlapped. The unidirectional stable radiation patterns are achieved by adding a square resonance ring between the ground plane and antenna. The ring has little influence on antenna performance at the lower frequency, but improves the coupling currents between the ground and antenna at the upper frequency. As a result, satisfactory dual band and broadside radiation performance is obtained. For demonstration, the proposed antenna is implemented. Measured dual‐band 10‐dB impedance bandwidths are 9.4% (2.33‐2.56 GHz) and 33.5% (4.23‐5.93 GHz) in the lower and upper bands, covering the entire WLAN 2.4/5.2/5.8‐GHz bands. Moreover, the measured antenna has a 6.7‐8.1 dBi broadside gain and stable radiation patterns over the whole operating band.  相似文献

In this communication, a dielectric resonator based circularly polarized antenna is designed and investigated. A modified aperture is used to excite dual cylindrical dielectric resonator (CDR) blocks. Two important characteristics of the proposed radiator that makes it all the more attractive are as follows: (i) excitation of dual radiating modes that is, HEM11δ and TE01δ mode in cylindrical DR along with the support of dual‐band circularly polarized (CP) waves; (ii) arrangements of dual CDR blocks to reduce the Q‐factor which is useful to enhance the impedance bandwidth of both frequency bands. Fabrication as well as experimental measurement of the antenna prototype has been done for verifying simulation outcomes. This antenna design operates over dual frequency bands, that is, 5.01‐6.41 GHz and 7.3‐7.9 GHz with the fractional bandwidth of 24.73% and 9.39%, respectively. It supports CP waves over the frequency range 6.1‐6.5 GHz and 7.4‐7.8 GHz. The proposed antenna backs right‐hand circularly polarized (RHCP) radiation with an average gain of 4.5 dBi. These characteristics make it well fitted for WLAN, WiMAX (5.2/5.5/5.8 GHz), and downlink defense purpose satellite communication (7.2‐7.7 GHz).  相似文献

A dual‐band circularly polarized (CP) antenna with harmonic rejection property is proposed in this paper. Four T‐shaped slits and two corner cuts are etched on the proposed microstrip patch antenna. Those structures can be used to tune the resonant frequencies of TM01 mode and TM03 mode of the antenna into the desired bands of 2.45 and 5.8 GHz with CP radiation. A shunt transmission line is employed not only to improve the impedance matching at 5.8 GHz but also to suppress the radiation at 4.9 GHz (second harmonic of 2.45 GHz). Meanwhile, two L‐shaped slits are etched on the feeding line to realize the harmonic rejection at 11.6 GHz (second harmonic of 5.8 GHz). The simulated and measured results show that this antenna has good dual‐band CP radiation property and harmonic suppression performance, which makes it a good candidate for the wireless energy harvesting system.  相似文献

A novel dual‐band, dual‐circularly polarized antenna is proposed and fabricated. The proposed antenna consists of an asymmetric U‐shaped slot and an inverted L‐shaped slot which are designed to excite two orthogonal E vectors with equal amplitude and 90° phase difference (PD), in addition, fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) Furthermore, a left‐hand circular polarization in the direction of z > 0 and a right‐hand circular polarization instead of the opposite direction both at the lower and upper bands are exhibited by the radiations of the antenna. Good agreement is achieved between the measurement and simulation, which indicates that a 10‐dB bandwidth of 38.75% from 2.56 to 3.8 GHz and 21.8% from 10.01 to 12.53 GHz, while a 3‐dB axial‐ratio bandwidth (ARBW) of 13.4% from 2.77 to 3.2 GHz and 9.23% from 10.25 to 11.25 GHz at two operation bands, respectively, are covered in the designed antenna. To explain the mechanism of dual‐band dual‐circular polarization, the analysis of magnetic fields distributions and a parametric study of the design are given. Meanwhile, compared to other recent works, a single layer structure, wider axial ratio and impedance bandwidths and a more compact size are the key features of the proposed antenna.  相似文献

A microstrip‐fed conventional annular ring slot (ARS) antenna with linear polarization (LP) is initially studied. To generate two orthogonal degenerate modes for circular polarization (CP) radiations, two identical meandering perturbation slots (MPS) are symmetrically loaded into the ARS. By further incorporating a PIN diode switch across each MPS, the proposed antenna can switch between left‐hand CP (LHCP), right‐hand CP (RHCP), and LP. All three polarizations have shown good impedance bandwidth and broad CP bandwidth that can satisfy the wireless local area network (WLAN) 2.4‐GHz operating band (2400–2480 MHz). Furthermore, desirable gains of 1.8–2.0 dBi and 2.40–2.84 dBic are also exhibited at LP and LHCP/RHCP, respectively. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, for the first time, an antenna that can radiate LHCP and RHCP waves simultaneously is presented. The antenna enables simultaneous transmission of both right‐handed (RH) and left‐handed (LH) circular polarized (CP) waves separately over an elevation range from ?45 ° to ?5 ° and 5 ° to 45 ° from the zenith. The simultaneous radiation of dual sense CP in the different spatial directions enables the antenna to act as polarization diversity transmitter. The mechanism of virtual sequential rotation of magnetic currents inside the different parts of the slot, excited with uniform phase fields results in dual CP generation. The uniform phase orthogonal fields are generated in the different parts of the slot essentially by exciting the full wavelength rectangular slot loaded with grounded stubs, symmetrically, with a shorted microstrip line. The final design of the slot antenna arrived with a rigorous parametric study on different dimensional parameters of slot and grounded stub. The measured impedance bandwidth of 22.5% centered around 7 GHz and axial ratio bandwidth of 19% is achieved. An overlapping bandwidth of 17% is achieved where both matching and AR are very good. The measured isolation between the RHCP and LHCP in the above‐mentioned elevation ranges is maintained above 10 dB. The simulated and experimental results are matching very well.  相似文献

In this article, a probe fed V‐shaped dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) loaded with circular patches, is proposed for X band applications. A prototype was fabricated to validate the results. Circular polarization is achieved by the geometry of DRA integrated with the circular patches on its surface. These circular patches behave as a monopole antenna. To achieve circular polarization two orthogonal fields have been excited in the DRA, which are in time phase quadrature. Due to the symmetry of design, it shows dual polarization, both Left Hand Circular Polarization (LHCP) and Right Hand Circular Polarization (RHCP), in two orthogonal directions. The fabricated prototype exhibits wide impedance bandwidth of 7.85‐10.1 GHz (25%) and circular polarization (CP) Bandwidth (BW) of 8.35‐8.7 GHz (4%). Maximum measured gain of 4.8 dBi has been obtained in comparison with the simulated gain of 5.6 dBi. Applications of the proposed antenna include satellite communication, telemetry tracking and control, Synthetic aperture radar (SAR), weather radar, and military radar in X band. Directional CP performance is useful in designing a smart antenna and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna.  相似文献

This article presents an ultrawideband (UWB) crossed dipole antenna with circularly polarized (CP) and dual band‐notched characteristics. The proposed design is based on two orthogonal tapered dipoles for UWB CP operation and a square‐shaped cavity for high broadside gain over the entire operating bandwidth (BW). To generate dual band‐notched characteristics, two separated slots are inserted into each dipole's arm. This antenna yields measured impedance BW of 100% (3.2‐9.6 GHz) with dual‐band rejection centered at 5.2 and 5.8 GHz. Correspondingly, dual rejected bands are also observed in the original UWB CP band, which ranges from 3.2 to 8.2 GHz. Additionally, the proposed antenna exhibits high broadside gains better than 6.2 dBic and radiation efficiency greater than 82%.  相似文献

A low profile circularly polarized (CP) antenna with reconfigurable polarization is designed and presented, which can radiate omnidirectional patterns that can be switched between left‐hand circularly polarized (LHCP) and right‐hand circularly polarized (RHCP). A pair of arc‐shaped complementary dipoles is acted as reconfigurable elements by bridging four pin diodes at the dipole arced arms. A meander phase shift line is employed to connected the arc dipole arms and plate cavity to adjust the phase relationship of two sources. The proposed antenna exhibits the omnidirectional radiation pattern by combining six identical elements placed in a circular array configuration. 24 p‐i‐n diodes are exploited to six elements, by manipulating the dc bias voltage across the diodes, the polarization state of the antenna can be switched. The patterns of the antenna are similar to that of a dipole, but its size is only about Φ0.87 × 0.029λ0 at 5.8 GHz. The overlapped bandwidth of measured 3‐dB axial ratio (AR) and 10‐dB return loss is 5.724‐5.87 and 5.738‐5.91 GHz for two polarization states, which are right on the target of ISM band. It can be well adapted to medical diagnosis systems.  相似文献

In this article, design and development of wideband circularly polarized (CP) rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (RDRA) is presented. To generate wideband CP in proposed antenna, different feeding mechanism have been studied. Three antenna configurations based on different feeding have been discussed using single and dual pair of microstrip lines aligned perpendicular to each other to generate orthogonal modes resulting in circular polarization. It has been claimed here that excitation of RHCP/LHCP field and its direction of radiation could be controlled using height of microstrip feed lines. Finally antenna configuration‐3 is fabricated and measured which shows 36.8% of input impedance bandwidth (3.48–5.05 GHz) and axial ratio bandwidth of 14.46% (3.67–4.24 GHz) in broadside direction (at Φ = 0°, θ = 0°). The final proposed structure exhibits consistent far‐field characteristics with average LHCP gain of 6.4 dB and almost stable radiation efficiency in entire operational frequency range. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A high‐isolation dual‐polarized quad‐patch antenna fed by stacked substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) that is suitable for millimeter‐wave band is proposed in this paper. The antenna consists of a quad‐patch radiator, a two‐layer SIW feeding structure and two feeding ports for horizontal and vertical polarization. The two‐layer stacked SIW feeding structure achieves the high isolation between the two feeding ports (|S21| ≤ ?45 dB). Based on the proposed element, a 1 × 4 antenna array with a simple series‐fed network is also designed and investigated. A prototype working at the frequency band from 38 to 40 GHz is fabricated and tested. The results indicate that the proposed antenna has good radiation performance at 38 GHz that covers future 5G applications.  相似文献

A printed dual‐band filtering antenna with decent frequency selectivity at 2.45 and 5.2 GHz for wireless local area network (WLAN) applications is developed. The filtering antenna is compact, which comprises a tapped feed line, two dual‐band stub‐loaded open‐loop resonators, and a dual‐band bended monopole. It can be easily printed on a single layer PCB substrate with low profile and low cost. The entire structure is very simple compared with the previously reported dual‐band filtering antennas that requiring multi‐layer structures. The monopole functions as not only a radiator, but also the last resonator of a dual‐band filter. The developed antenna exhibits good frequency selectivity and out‐of‐band suppression. In addition, the two operation bands can be adjusted relatively individually. The proposed antenna is optimized and fabricated. The experimental results show it has good frequency selectivity at both 2.45 and 5.2 GHz, wide bandwidth 11.8% and 7.8%, and excellent out‐of‐band suppression.  相似文献

In this article, a high‐gain and dual‐polarized antenna with UWB operation is proposed. The antenna is composed of two tapered dipoles as radiating elements, which are arranged orthogonally and fed perpendicularly to achieve polarization diversity. A metallic cavity reflector is placed behind the radiator for high gain radiation entire the operating bandwidth. To validate the design method, an antenna prototype is designed, fabricated, and measured. The measured results demonstrate that the proposed design has good performance with |S11| ≤ ?10 dB and isolation ≥20 dB over a frequency band 3.2‐8.8 GHz, equivalently to about 93.3%. In addition, unidirectional radiation pattern and broadside gain of from 8.1 to 11.8 dBi are obtained across the operating bandwidth.  相似文献
