The purpose of this study is to investigate the application of a polarization conversion meatasurface for constructing a low profile, wideband circularly polarized slot antenna, which consists of a new Polarization conversion metasurface (PCM)‐based square‐corner‐cut artificial magnetic conductor cell structure and a feeding slot antenna. PCM possesses two frequency points of polarization rotation (PR), produced by appropriately adjusting width between the two triangular metallic patches. A 39.3% (4.7‐7 GHz) of big PR band was realized through the combination of two neighboring PR frequency points. The impedance bandwidth of PCM based patch antenna was measured to be 43.5% (4.5‐7 GHz), with 17.2% (5.3‐6.3 GHz) of 3 dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth and 0.045λ0 of profile. It also generated 7.3 dBic of high broadside gain in operational bandwidth.  相似文献

A simple design of circularly polarized slot‐patch antenna array with broadband operation and compact size is presented in this article. The antenna element consists of a circular slot and a semicircular patch, which are etched on both sides of a substrate. For the gain and axial ratio (AR) bandwidth enhancement, its array antennas are implemented in a 2 × 2 arrangement and fed by a sequential‐phase feeding network. The final 2 × 2 antenna array prototype with compact lateral dimension of 0.8λL × 0.8λL (λL is the lowest frequency within AR bandwidth) yielded a measured impedance bandwidth of 103.83% (2.76‐8.72 GHz) and a measured AR bandwidth of 94.62% (2.45‐6.85 GHz). The peak gain values within the AR bandwidth are from 2.85 to 8.71 dBi. A good agreement between the simulated and measured results is achieved. This antenna array is suitable for multiservice wireless systems covering WiMAX, WLAN and C‐band applications such as satellite communications.  相似文献

A wide‐beam circular polarization (CP) antenna and a wide‐angle scanning phased array based on novel polarization rotation reflective surface (PRRS) are proposed. The CP wide‐beam pattern is obtained by the combination of the radiation wave from the patch antenna and the orthogonal reflected wave from the PRRS with a 90° phase difference. The proposed CP wide‐beam antenna obtains the patterns with the 3‐dB beamwidth more than 136° and the axial ratio (AR) beamwidth more than 132° in the xoz‐plane. Furthermore, an eight‐element phased array based on the wide‐beam CP antenna element is also developed. The measured results show that the main beam of the array can scan from ?65° to 65° with a gain fluctuation less than 3 dB and the ARs at every scanning angle less than 3 dB.  相似文献

This article presents a low‐profile broadband antenna. The E‐shaped metal cells are utilized on the top layer, which is excited by the microstrip line through the coupling slot in the ground plane. The characteristics of the E‐shaped patch cell and antenna are extensively investigated and presented. Dual resonances with close proximity are obtained to realize wideband impedance matching. An attractive feature is found that the bandwidth of the antenna exhibits good correlation with the inductance. The interesting analysis is presented by directly loading inductors to the antenna, and the bandwidth shrinks quickly with larger inductance loaded. Therefore, the antenna proposed in this article has good potential in bandwidth tuning applications. A typical bandwidth from 5.1 to 6.7 GHz is achieved by the fabricated antenna with a maximum measured gain of 10.4 dBi. Meanwhile, the antenna remains a low profile of 0.09 λ g.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel broadband dual‐polarization patch antenna is proposed. Antisymmetric Γ feeding network is applied to excite the radiating patch etched on the upper side of the horizontal substrate, which could minimize the undesired radiation from the probe and extend the impedance bandwidth. For verifying the proposed approach, a prototype is fabricated and measured, the simulated and measured results show the antenna has a wide impedance bandwidth of 48% (1.66‐2.71 GHz) for S11 < ?10 dB, as well as stable radiation gain around 9.5 dBi with low cross‐polarization. In addition, the total height of the antenna is only 0.17 λ0 ( λ0 is the free space wavelength of central frequency) and high port‐to‐port isolation is better than 30 dB. The characteristics of the proposed antenna illustrate it can be an indication for a micro base station in the mobile communication system.  相似文献

A low‐profile wideband patch antenna utilizing double‐tuned impedance matching technology is investigated in this paper. To extend the operation bandwidth of the antenna, the step‐folded probe is used here to realize the double‐tuned impedance matching. Using equivalent circuit theory, the working principle of the antenna is analyzed and discussed. The full‐wave simulation is carried out to optimize the design while the prototype of the antenna is fabricated and measured. Good agreement between the simulation and measurement can be observed. The measured results show that the antenna has a height of 0.12λL (λL is the free space wavelength corresponding to lowest frequency) and the ?10 dB impedance bandwidth can cover 1.60‐2.83 GHz (55.5%). The low profile and wide operation bandwidth of the antenna make it a good candidate for wideband wireless communication systems.  相似文献

In this letter, we present a circular polarization antenna array using the novel slot‐coupling feeding technique. This antenna includes eight elements which are installed in line, each array element is fed by means of two microstrip lines with equal amplitude and phase rotation of 90°. The feeding microstrip lines are coupled to a square patch through a square‐ring slot realized in the feeding network ground plane. With the presence of the slots, this antenna array is able to cover the range of frequency of 3 GHz to 4 GHz. The size of the proposed antenna array is 7λ × 1.8λ × 0.4λ. The measured gain is 15.2 dBi and the bandwidth of S11< ?10 dB is 1 GHz (3–4 GHz, 28%). The antenna array is suited for the WiMAX applications. With the use of slot‐coupling feeding technique, the measured bandwidth for axial ratio < 3 dB is about 24% in the WiMAX frequency band (3.3–3.8GHz). The measured HPBW of the yz planes is larger than 62°. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 26:567–574, 2016.  相似文献

In this article, a circularly polarized coupled slot 1 × 4 stacked patch antenna array with enhanced bandwidth is proposed for S‐band applications. Initially, a patch antenna radiating at 2.79 GHz is designed and maximum energy from feedline to patch element is coupled using two rectangular slots. Whereas, a parallel feedline structure is designed to provide polarization flexibility by creating 0, 90 , and 180o phase differences. Then, a truncated patch element is vertically stacked in the design to achieve broader bandwidth of 600 MHz over frequency range from 2.4 to 3.0 GHz. Finally, a coupled slot 1 × 4 array stacked antenna array having feedline line structure to provide 90o phase difference for circular polarization is designed and fabricated for measurements. It is observed that the final design achieved target specification having impedance matching (|S11 | (dB) < ?10 dB over 2.4 to 3.0 GHz, broad band circular polarization, and 11.5 dBic total gain. Overall, a good agreement between simulated and measurement results is observed.  相似文献

In this article, we investigate bandwidth‐enhancement of a circularly‐polarized (CP) Fabry‐Perot antenna (FPA) using single‐layer partially reflective surface (PRS). The FPA is composed of a single‐feed truncated‐corner square patch antenna, which is covered by the PRS formed by a square aperture array. We revealed that the finite‐sized PRS produces extra resonances and CP radiations for the antenna system, which broadened the impedance matching and axial ratio (AR) bandwidths significantly. For verification, a broadband CP FPA prototype operating near 5.8 GHz was realized and tested. The fabricated antenna with overall size of 125 mm × 125 mm × 23.5 mm achieves a |S11| < ?10 dB bandwidth of 31.7% (5.23‐7.2 GHz), an AR < 3‐dB bandwidth of 13.7% (5.45‐6.25 GHz), the peak gain of 13.3 dBic, a 3‐dB gain bandwidth of 22.38% (5.0‐6.26 GHz), and a radiation efficiency of >91%.  相似文献

In this article, a dual‐band and wideband omnidirectional circularly polarized (CP) antenna based on the vanadium dioxide (VO2) is investigated. The operating bandwidth of such an antenna can be regulated by altering the outside temperature (T), which is attained by the insulator‐metal transition of VO2. The omnidirectional CP antenna is based on a loop antenna‐dipole model, which is composed of four tilted metal and VO2 resonant units that are loaded around a cuboid and a feeding network for broadening bandwidth. The simulated results show that when T = 50°C (State I), the 10‐dB impedance bandwidth is 45.7% (1.67‐2.66 GHz), and the 3‐dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth is 40% (1.9‐2.85 GHz). When T = 80°C (State II), the 10‐dB impedance bandwidth is 13.8% (1.62‐1.86 GHz), and the 3‐dB AR bandwidth is 21.8% (1.68‐2.09 GHz). In order to further characterize the concept of the proposed antenna, the related parameters of such an antenna are studied using simulation software HFSS.  相似文献

A single‐fed circularly polarized square shaped wide slot antenna with modified ground plane and microstrip feed has been presented. The field in the slot is perturbed by introducing an antipodal strips section attached with a microstrip line to produce circular polarization in a wide band of frequencies. The antipodal strip section consists of a group of four strips of unequal length and separation. The presence of asymmetric perturbations in the slot is mainly responsible for exciting two orthogonal modes in the slot having equal magnitude and 90° phase difference which results in circular polarization. A wide bandwidth of 3.3 GHz (4.4 GHz‐7.7 GHz) has been achieved for an axial ratio value AR < 3 dB with the minimum axial ratio value being 0.3 dB. The impedance bandwidth for |S11| < ?10 dB ranges from 4.3 GHz to 8 GHz, and therefore covers most of the C‐band communication systems. The antenna exhibits stable radiation patterns throughout the circular polarization bandwidth with a gain around 6 dBi in entire operational bandwidth. A prototype of antenna was fabricated and measured. The antenna has a planar size 0.40λ0 × 0.40λ0 and thickness of 0.02λ0 where λ0 is the wavelength in free space at the lowest frequency. With its compact size and low profile, the antenna is a favorable choice for WLAN (5.15‐5.85 GHz) and a wide variety of C‐band wireless applications.  相似文献

A dual‐mode circularly polarized compact antenna with integrated left‐hand and right‐hand circular polarization (LHCP and RHCP) is presented in this work. A multilayer arrangement of a square patch and square ring structure with an irregular transmission line is analyzed for dual‐band, dual‐CP operation. To realize dual mode propagation the proposed structure is excited using electromagnetic coupling technique. Succeeding proximity feeding with T‐stub match is analyzed, which conveys impedance bandwidth of 180 and 300 MHz within |S11| < ?10 dB at 3.5 and 5.5 GHz. The designed CP elements is suitably arranged with feed line for generating two orthogonal polarization of equal amplitude and a 90° phase difference at both the resonant modes (TM10 and TM01). Alterable LHCP and RHCP performance is realized by altering the compensated position and peculiar angle. Having both LHCP and RHCP polarization this design shows polarization insensitive characteristic. Each LHCP and RHCP antenna element accomplished a 3‐dB AR of 70 and 120 MHz with a gain up to 6 dBi. With a low profile of 0.27λ0 × 0.27λ0 × 0.04λ0, the CP antenna is fabricated, and the performance is validated through experimental analysis. With all the viable characteristics, the antenna is proposed for Wi‐MAX/WLAN communication.  相似文献

This article presents a simple design of circularly polarized (CP) antenna with low profile and wideband operation characteristics. To achieve these desirable features, a truncated corner squared patch is chosen as primary radiating source and surrounded by periodic metallic plates for bandwidth enhancement. Notably, all the radiating elements are designed on a single layer of substrate using printed circuit techniques, which significantly reduces the design complexity. The final prototype with overall size of 0.60λo × 0.60λo × 0.05λo (λo is free‐space wavelength at the center operating frequency) was fabricated and tested. Measured results show that the proposed antenna has wide operation bandwidth of 19.7% (5.1‐6.2 GHz). Additionally, broadside gain ranging from 5.0 to 6.9 dBic is also attained within the operating band. In comparison with the other reported antennas in literature, the proposed one has the simplest design architecture with competitive operating bandwidth.  相似文献

In this article, a 4 × 4 linear‐phased patch array antenna, consisting of four 1 × 4 patch subarrays and a true time‐delay multiline phase shifter, is proposed on a thin film liquid crystal polymer substrate at Ka‐band. The patch antenna is designed with a gain of 6 dBi at 35 GHz and a bandwidth of 23% centered at 35 GHz. To enhance the gain and symmetrize the beam patterns of the 4 × 4 array, a 1 × 4 patch subarray in the E‐plane was designed and characterized. The subarray produces an enhanced gain of 11 dBi and a wide beamwidth of ±38° in the H‐plane for beam steering. The proposed phase shifter comprises a 1 × 4 microstrip line power splitter and a piezoelectric transducer‐controlled phase perturber. A large phase variation of up to 370° and a low insertion loss of less than 2 dB were demonstrated for the phase shifter at Ka‐band. The integrated phased array attains a gain of 15.6 dBi, and a continuous true‐time delay beam steering of up to 33 ± 1° from 31 to 39 GHz. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel zeroth‐order resonator (ZOR) meta‐material (MTM) antenna with dual‐band is suggested using compound right/left handed transmission line as MTM. In this article, suggested antenna consists of patch through series gap, two meander line inductors, and two circular stubs. The MTM antenna is compact in size which shows dual‐band properties with first band centered at 2.47 GHz (2.05‐2.89 GHz) and second band is centered at 5.9 GHz (3.70‐8.10 GHz) with impedance bandwidth of (S11 < ? 10 dB) 34.69% and 72.45%, respectively. At ZOR mode (2.35 GHz), the suggested antenna has overall dimension of 0.197λo × 0.07λo × 0.011λo with gain of 1.65 dB for ZOR band and 3.35 dB for first positive order resonator band which covers the applications like Bluetooth (2.4 GHZ), TV/Radio/Data (3.700‐6.425 GHz), WLAN (5‐5.16 GHz), C band frequencies (5.15‐5.35, 5.47‐5.725, or 5.725‐5.875 GHz) and satellite communication (7.25‐7.9 GHz). The radiation patterns of suggested structure are steady during the operating band for which sample antenna has been fabricated and confirmed experimentally. It exhibits novel omnidirectional radiation characteristics in phi = 0° plane with lower cross‐polarization values.  相似文献

This paper presents a broadband dual‐polarized omnidirectional antenna with a simple feeding structure. It consists of a monopolar patch element for vertically linear polarization (VP) and a circular printed‐dipole array for horizontally linear polarization (HP). The monopolar patch antenna is loaded with shorting vias and coupled ring in order to broaden the VP bandwidth, nevertheless keeping a low profile. The printed dipoles with integrated balun are arranged on a circular substrate and incorporated with a 1‐to‐4 power divider for achieving the broadband HP omnidirectional radiation. One of the key features is to replace a shorting‐via in the monopolar patch by the coaxial line of the HP element, allowing a simple configuration and not affecting the VP radiation. The final design with a profile of 0.28λmin has been fabricated and measured. The measurements result in an overlapped impedance bandwidth of 25.4% (2.2‐2.84 GHz) and port‐to‐port isolation of >33 dB. Also, the antenna achieves the peak gain values of 8.0 and 5.6 dBi for the VP and HP radiations, respectively.  相似文献

A compact monopolar microstrip patch antenna (MPA) with enhanced‐bandwidth is proposed. In order to achieve the miniaturized patch, the zeroth‐order mode of the MPA instead of its higher‐order modes is employed at first by loading the shorting pin around the center of the patch. After that, a L‐shaped microstrip line with a shorting pin is introduced at the periphery of the patch radiator to excite an additional non‐radiative mode for bandwidth enhancement. In final, the proposed MPA is fabricated and measured. The results illustrate that the antenna generates an enhanced‐bandwidth of about 4.1% ranging from 2.39 to 2.49 GHz, which is significantly larger than that of the traditional MPA around 1%. Meanwhile, the dimensions of the radiating patch are obviously decreased down due to the employment of zeroth‐order mode, which are kept as small as about 0.17 λ0 × 0.22 λ0 × 0.026 λ0 (λ0 is the free‐space wavelength).  相似文献

A high‐isolation dual‐polarized quad‐patch antenna fed by stacked substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) that is suitable for millimeter‐wave band is proposed in this paper. The antenna consists of a quad‐patch radiator, a two‐layer SIW feeding structure and two feeding ports for horizontal and vertical polarization. The two‐layer stacked SIW feeding structure achieves the high isolation between the two feeding ports (|S21| ≤ ?45 dB). Based on the proposed element, a 1 × 4 antenna array with a simple series‐fed network is also designed and investigated. A prototype working at the frequency band from 38 to 40 GHz is fabricated and tested. The results indicate that the proposed antenna has good radiation performance at 38 GHz that covers future 5G applications.  相似文献

A substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) circularly polarized (CP) antenna with omnidirectional radiation in the azimuthal plane is proposed. The antenna consists of five identical end‐fire CP antenna elements in a pentagonal array configuration, which is loaded on a circular substrate. Each element contains an H‐plane horn antenna in SIW structure and a printed dipole antenna. Five parasitic curve elements are introduced to improve the omnidirectional property of the antenna. Combined with complementary dipoles theory and SIW technology, prototype antenna is designed, fabricated and measured. With a low profile of 0.024λ0, the antenna has a 10‐dB return‐loss impedance bandwidth of 4.08% (2.4~2.5 GHz) and a 3‐dB axial‐ratio (AR) bandwidth of 5.76% (2.36~2.50 GHz). The antenna works well in the 2.45 GHz ISM band, with good cross‐polarization and excellent omnidirectional property.  相似文献

A novel dual‐band, dual‐circularly polarized antenna is proposed and fabricated. The proposed antenna consists of an asymmetric U‐shaped slot and an inverted L‐shaped slot which are designed to excite two orthogonal E vectors with equal amplitude and 90° phase difference (PD), in addition, fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) Furthermore, a left‐hand circular polarization in the direction of z > 0 and a right‐hand circular polarization instead of the opposite direction both at the lower and upper bands are exhibited by the radiations of the antenna. Good agreement is achieved between the measurement and simulation, which indicates that a 10‐dB bandwidth of 38.75% from 2.56 to 3.8 GHz and 21.8% from 10.01 to 12.53 GHz, while a 3‐dB axial‐ratio bandwidth (ARBW) of 13.4% from 2.77 to 3.2 GHz and 9.23% from 10.25 to 11.25 GHz at two operation bands, respectively, are covered in the designed antenna. To explain the mechanism of dual‐band dual‐circular polarization, the analysis of magnetic fields distributions and a parametric study of the design are given. Meanwhile, compared to other recent works, a single layer structure, wider axial ratio and impedance bandwidths and a more compact size are the key features of the proposed antenna.  相似文献
