In this article, a VO2‐based tunable omnidirectional circularly polarized (CP) antenna is designed. The proposed antenna combines copper and metamaterial VO2. By utilizing the characteristics of insulator‐metal phase transition of VO2, we can change the length of the resonant branches to achieve tunable working bandwidth. The proposed antenna is composed of a modified floor loaded with VO2 and copper resonant branches, a top patch with slits, and 14 shorting vias connecting the top path and bottom floor. Different from the traditional electric controlled antennas, antennas based on metamaterial VO2 do not need to design complicated circuit structures and can be easily tailored by the external temperature (T). The simulated results illustrate that when T ≥ 68°C (state I), the proposed antenna has a 10‐dB impedance bandwidth of 15.9% (2.09‐2.45 GHz), and a 3‐dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of 23.4% (2.04‐2.58 GHz). When T < 68°C (state II), it has a bandwidth of 6.5% (2.38‐2.54 GHz) with S11 below ?10 dB, and a bandwidth of 19.9% (2.39‐2.92 GHz) with AR below 3 dB.  相似文献

In this article, a polarization reconfigurable omnidirectional antenna realized by the gravity field tailored is proposed, which is composed of the liquid metal Hg. The antenna is composed of four horizontal glass containers for omnidirectional horizontally polarized (HP) operating state (State I) and four tilted glass containers for omnidirectional circularly polarized (CP) working state (State II). By rotating the antenna, the position of Hg can be changed due to the effect of the gravity field, and different resonant structures can be formed to realize the regulation of polarization states between HP and CP working states. A reflector based on electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure also is introduced, which can increase the gain and widen axial ratio (AR) bandwidth. The simulated results show that when the antenna is not rotated (State I), the 10‐dB impedance bandwidth is 21.2% (2.83~3.5 GHz). When the antenna is rotated (State II), the 10‐dB impedance bandwidth is 37.7% (2.35~3.44 GHz), and the 3‐dB AR bandwidth is 28.5% (2.35~3.13 GHz). After introducing the reflector, the max gain is increased to 2.1 dBic in State I and 2.2 dBic in State II, respectively. To further characterize the concept of the proposed antenna, a parametric study is carried out using HFSS.  相似文献

A substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) circularly polarized (CP) antenna with omnidirectional radiation in the azimuthal plane is proposed. The antenna consists of five identical end‐fire CP antenna elements in a pentagonal array configuration, which is loaded on a circular substrate. Each element contains an H‐plane horn antenna in SIW structure and a printed dipole antenna. Five parasitic curve elements are introduced to improve the omnidirectional property of the antenna. Combined with complementary dipoles theory and SIW technology, prototype antenna is designed, fabricated and measured. With a low profile of 0.024λ0, the antenna has a 10‐dB return‐loss impedance bandwidth of 4.08% (2.4~2.5 GHz) and a 3‐dB axial‐ratio (AR) bandwidth of 5.76% (2.36~2.50 GHz). The antenna works well in the 2.45 GHz ISM band, with good cross‐polarization and excellent omnidirectional property.  相似文献

In this article, a tunable wideband omnidirectional circularly polarized (CP) antenna regulated by the gravity field based on the liquid metal Hg is investigated. Under the action of the gravity field, Hg flows in the upper and lower parts by rotating such an antenna, which can constitute dissimilar resonant units to achieve the dynamic regulation of the operating bandwidths. The proposed antenna consists of four tilted glass containers that are filled with Hg in the upper or lower parts, and a feeding structure for power distribution and impedance matching. To verify concept of the design, equivalent prototypes have been fabricated and measured. The measured results are roughly consistent with simulated results within a reasonable error range. The antenna has a 10‐dB impedance bandwidth of 44.3% (2.37‐3.72 GHz), and a 3‐dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of 18.9% (2.83‐3.42 GHz) when the proposed antenna is not rotated (state I). When such an antenna is rotated (state II), it has a bandwidth of 40.7% (2.35‐3.55 GHz) with S11 below ?10 dB, and a bandwidth of 22.9% (2.40‐3.02 GHz) with AR below 3 dB. Therefore, the operating band of the antenna can be altered between two wide bands. The proposed antenna has the advantages of tunable bandwidth, novel efficient regulation mechanism, and simple structure.  相似文献

A planar dual circularly polarized slot antenna is presented. The designed antenna has two tilted “8” shaped slots fed by microstrip lines, one each for transmission (TX) and reception (RX) operations. The isolation between the two ports (TX and RX) is augmented by means of an interdigital capacitor based bandstop filter. The proposed antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 361 MHz centered at 2.293 GHz (2.113‐2.474 GHz) with the isolation between the ports being >17.6 dB which goes up to a value as high as 46 dB within the band of operation. The 3 dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth is 11.52% centered at 2.1275 GHz (2.005‐2.25 GHz). Because of its high inter‐port isolation within the AR bandwidth, the design is suitable as a full‐duplex antenna for applications in S‐band.  相似文献

In this article, we investigate bandwidth‐enhancement of a circularly‐polarized (CP) Fabry‐Perot antenna (FPA) using single‐layer partially reflective surface (PRS). The FPA is composed of a single‐feed truncated‐corner square patch antenna, which is covered by the PRS formed by a square aperture array. We revealed that the finite‐sized PRS produces extra resonances and CP radiations for the antenna system, which broadened the impedance matching and axial ratio (AR) bandwidths significantly. For verification, a broadband CP FPA prototype operating near 5.8 GHz was realized and tested. The fabricated antenna with overall size of 125 mm × 125 mm × 23.5 mm achieves a |S11| < ?10 dB bandwidth of 31.7% (5.23‐7.2 GHz), an AR < 3‐dB bandwidth of 13.7% (5.45‐6.25 GHz), the peak gain of 13.3 dBic, a 3‐dB gain bandwidth of 22.38% (5.0‐6.26 GHz), and a radiation efficiency of >91%.  相似文献

In this article, a novel inverted L‐shaped microstrip‐fed wideband circularly polarized (CP) modified square‐slot antenna is designed. By cutting a pair of triangle chamfers and introducing a pair of triangle patches at the square‐slot, the antenna achieves a wideband CP radiation. Moreover, CP performance of the antenna can also be remarkably enhanced by protruding an L‐shaped strip and embedding a tuning rectangle slot into the slot ground. The measured results demonstrate that the axial‐ratio bandwidth for AR < 3 is 75.1% (from 4.45 to 9.8 GHz) and the impedance bandwidth (|S11| < ?10 dB) reaches 65.8% (from 4.95 to 9.8 GHz). In addition, surface current studies are performed to illustrate the operating mechanism of CP operation, and the antenna has bidirectional radiation characteristics with an average gain of ~4 dBic within the CP band.  相似文献

In this article, a wideband circularly polarized (CP) dielectric resonator (DR) over an asymmetric‐slot radiator based hybrid‐DR antenna is proposed with bi‐directional radiation characteristics. Bi‐directional CP radiation of the dual sense is obtained using a rectangular‐DR over asymmetric‐rectangular‐slot radiator with L‐shaped feed line. The asymmetric‐slot radiator feed by L‐shaped stub with the coplanar waveguide is used for generating two orthogonal modes, namely TE x δ11 and TEy1δ1 in the combined (rectangular‐DR and asymmetric‐slot radiator) hybrid‐DR antenna, which is verified by the distribution of electric field inside the rectangular DRA. The measured reflection coefficient bandwidth (S11 < ?10 dB) and axial ratio (AR) bandwidth (AR < 3 dB) of the hybrid‐DR antenna are 80.5% (1.87‐4.39 GHz) and 43.8% (1.75‐2.73 GHz), respectively. The antenna radiation is in the broadside (θ = 0°, ? = 0°) direction as well as in the backside (θ = 180°, φ = 0°) direction with equal magnitudes in both the directions. Right‐handed and left‐handed CP waves are achieved respectively, in the boresight (+Z) and the backside (?Z) directions. The proposed CP hybrid‐DR antenna gives an average gain of 3.55 dBic and radiation efficiency of 95.0% in both directions. The proposed antenna covers various wireless useful bands such as ISM 2400 band, Wi‐Fi, Bluetooth, and Wi‐MAX (2.5‐2.7 GHz).  相似文献

In this article, we present a new broadband CP square‐slot antenna with an inverted F‐shaped feed‐line. The antenna is composed of an inverted F‐shaped feed‐line, pairs of isosceles triangular chamfers, I‐shaped slots, rectangular slots and triangular patches, and a Z‐shaped strip. By introducing these strips and slots into the square‐slot, multiple CP modes can be stimulated simultaneously, which eventually enhances 3‐dB ARBW and 10‐dB impedance bandwidth (IBW) of the presented antenna. The measured results show that its IBW (|S11| < ?10 dB) is about 7.2 GHz (87.8% from 4.6 to 11.8 GHz) and its ARBW (AR < 3 dB) is 8.3 GHz (96% from 4.5 to 12.8 GHz).  相似文献

This article presents the design of an offset CPW‐fed slot antenna which exhibits a narrow impedance bandwidth (IBW; |S11| ≤ ?10 dB) extending from 1.20 GHz to 1.45 GHz and another wide impedance bandwidth from 1.86 GHz to 8.4 GHz thus covering almost all the conventional operating frequencies. The antenna is loaded with semicircular and rectangular stubs and meandered microstrip lines to realize circular polarization at 1.35 GHz, 3.3 GHz, 4.9 GHz, and 7.5 GHz with axial ratio bandwidth (axial ratio ≤ 3 dB) of 19.25% (1.2‐1.46 GHz), 4.24% (3.24‐3.38 GHz), 4.1%(4.8‐5 GHz), and 5.2% (7.3‐7.69 GHz) respectively thus covering the GPS, WiMAX, WLAN, and X‐band downlink satellite communication application bands. The mechanism of generation of CP is discussed using vector analysis of surface current density distribution. The gain is fairly constant in the wide IBW region with maximum fluctuation of 1.2 dB. The structure is compact with an overall layout area of 0.27λ × 0.27λ, where λ is the free‐space wavelength corresponding to the lowest circular polarized (CP) frequency. A comparison of the proposed antenna with previously reported structures is performed with respect to impedance bandwidth, compactness, number of CP bands, LHCP to RHCP isolation and gain to comprehend the novelty of the proposed design. A prototype of the proposed antenna is fabricated and the measured results are in accord with the simulated results.  相似文献

A novel zeroth‐order resonator (ZOR) meta‐material (MTM) antenna with dual‐band is suggested using compound right/left handed transmission line as MTM. In this article, suggested antenna consists of patch through series gap, two meander line inductors, and two circular stubs. The MTM antenna is compact in size which shows dual‐band properties with first band centered at 2.47 GHz (2.05‐2.89 GHz) and second band is centered at 5.9 GHz (3.70‐8.10 GHz) with impedance bandwidth of (S11 < ? 10 dB) 34.69% and 72.45%, respectively. At ZOR mode (2.35 GHz), the suggested antenna has overall dimension of 0.197λo × 0.07λo × 0.011λo with gain of 1.65 dB for ZOR band and 3.35 dB for first positive order resonator band which covers the applications like Bluetooth (2.4 GHZ), TV/Radio/Data (3.700‐6.425 GHz), WLAN (5‐5.16 GHz), C band frequencies (5.15‐5.35, 5.47‐5.725, or 5.725‐5.875 GHz) and satellite communication (7.25‐7.9 GHz). The radiation patterns of suggested structure are steady during the operating band for which sample antenna has been fabricated and confirmed experimentally. It exhibits novel omnidirectional radiation characteristics in phi = 0° plane with lower cross‐polarization values.  相似文献

This article presents a new dual C‐shaped rectangular dielectric resonator (DR) based antenna for generation of wideband circularly polarized (CP) radiation. The proposed antenna comprises of a pair of C‐shaped rectangular dielectric DR and a metal strip with a coaxial probe. By utilization of a metal strip at the side surface of C‐shaped rectangular DR, the wideband CP radiation is achieved from the proposed dielectric resonator antenna (DRA). Fundamental orthogonal modes (TExδ11 and TEy1δ1) are excited using the rectangular DRA with a metal strip for the generation of CP fields. The proposed antenna with dual C‐shaped rectangular CP DRA provides the measured ?10 dB reflection coefficient bandwidth of 30.07% (3.22 GHz‐4.36 GHz) with measured 3‐dB axial ratio bandwidth of 14.81% (3.25 GHz‐3.77 GHz) at the boresight. The proposed antenna covers the useful Wi‐MAX band.  相似文献

A new design of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) circularly‐polarized (CP) filtering antenna is presented, which is based on dual‐mode (TE102 and TE201) cavities. The satisfying filtering performance of the antenna is realized by a coupled‐resonator circuit of two dual‐mode SIW cavities. And the radiating element of the antenna is a cavity‐backed CP slot antenna which is formed by a nonuniform ring slot integrated with the back cavity. To demonstrate the idea, a prototype antenna operating at X band is designed, fabricated, and measured. Measured results show that the 10‐dB impedance bandwidth is 4.2% (from 11.6 to 12.1 GHz), the 3‐dB axial‐ratio (AR) bandwidth is 4%, and the gain is 5.6 dBi at the center frequency of 11.8 GHz.  相似文献

In this study, a simple broadband circularly polarized (CP) printed monopole antenna for S/C‐band applications is proposed. The CP antenna is composed of a falcate‐shaped monopole with a right‐angle trapezoid stub, then wide impedance and axial ratio (AR) bandwidths are achieved. By placing one rectangular split‐ring resonator above the stub for generating upper CP mode, both of impedance and CP performances are further improved. The proposed antenna is fabricated on a FR4 substrate and measured. The measured ?10‐dB impedance bandwidth is 107%, ranging from 2.4‐7.9 GHz, and the measured 3‐dB AR bandwidth is 94% (2.4‐6.6 GHz), covering the entire wireless local area network (WLAN) and WiMAX bands.  相似文献

This study investigates the use of a polarization rotation reflective surface (PRRS) to construct a wideband, wide‐beam, low‐profile circularly polarized (CP) patch antenna. The device is composed of a feeding monopole antenna and a novel PRRS‐based dual‐patch artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) cell structure. The PRRS has two polarization rotation (PR) frequency points, generated by properly adjusting the width between square and L‐shaped metallic patches. A large PR band of 35.5% (5.1‐7.3 GHz) was achieved by combining two adjacent PR frequency points. The PRRS‐based patch antenna impedance bandwidth was measured to be 28.6% (5.1‐6.35 GHz), with a 3 dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of 21.8% (4.8‐6.4 GHz) and a profile of 0.045λ0. Additionally, the proposed antenna exhibited the largest AR beamwidth (to our knowledge) of 175° and 128° in the xoz and yoz planes, respectively. It also produced a high broadside gain of 6.7 dBic within the operational bandwidth.  相似文献

A wideband omnidirectional circularly polarized (CP) antenna is proposed in this paper. The antenna is comprised of two slotted square patches which are connected by four vertical metal strips at the edges and a simple feeding probe in the centre. Loop currents can be yielded on the patches when rotation‐symmetrically offsetting slots are cut. By combining the two orthogonal fields radiating from the loop and the feeding probe, omnidirectional circular polarization is obtained in the azimuth plane. One group of slots are cut to verify the CP performance and two groups of slots are cut to further broaden the operating bandwidth. Measured results show that the proposed antenna with a small size of 40 × 40 × 10 mm3 obtains an effective bandwidth of 22% (2.1–2.62 GHz) for |S11| < ?10 dB and axial ratio < 3dB. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, a novel planar reconfigurable circular polarization (CP) complementary antenna for unidirectional end‐fire radiation is proposed. Its radiator is the combination of a shorted quarter wavelength patch and an electric dipole, which provide the vertical and horizontal polarizations, respectively. By adding a 90° phase delay line, the proposed antenna radiates CP electromagnetic waves in the unidirectional end‐fire direction. Four p‐i‐n diodes are also inserted at joints of the electric dipole and the phase delay lines, and two orthogonal CP states, left‐hand (LH) and right‐hand (RH) CPs, can be switched. In order to reduce the number of DC bias lines, electric dipole arms on both sides of the substrate are connected by metal via‐holes, which simplifies the DC bias lines. The proposed antenna at 2.45 GHz is designed and fabricated. Its measured impedance bandwidth with |S11| < ?10 dB and 3‐dB axial ratio bandwidth are 2.1% and 10.7%, respectively. Additionally, its maximum half power beamwidth in xoz plane is 196°. Reasonable agreement between the measured and simulated results validates the polarization reconfigurability of the proposed antenna.  相似文献

A broadband high‐gain circularly polarized (CP) microstrip antenna operating in X band is proposed. The circular polarization property is achieved by rotating four narrow band linearly polarized (LP) microstrip patch elements in sequence. Since the conventional series‐parallel feed network is not conducive to the miniaturization of the array, a corresponding simplified feed network is designed to realize the four‐way equal power division and sequential 90° phase shift. With this feed network, the impedance bandwidth (IBW) of the CP array is greatly improved compared with that of the LP element, while maintaining a miniaturized size. Then, parasitic patches are introduced to enhance the axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW). A prototype of this antenna is fabricated and tested. The size of proposed antenna is 0.93λ0 × 0.93λ0 × 0.017λ0 (λ0 denotes the space wavelength corresponding to the center frequency 10.4 GHz). The measured 10‐dB IBW and 3‐dB ARBW are 13.6% (9.8‐11.23 GHz), 11.2% (9.9‐11.07 GHz) respectively, and peak gain in the overlapping band is 9.8 dBi.  相似文献

A novel broadband circularly polarized (CP) C‐shaped slot antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide is presented. The broadband CP operation can be achieved simply using a C‐shaped slot in the ground to produce orthogonal surface currents for left‐hand circular polarization. Using the semicircle‐shaped radiator patch, wide impedance bandwidth and broad axial‐ratio (AR) bandwidth can be obtained simultaneously. The measured results show that the proposed antenna can provide a 10‐dB impedance bandwidth of 105% from 2.78 to 8.92 GHz, and a 3‐dB AR bandwidth of 70.4% from 2.9 to 6.05 GHz. Finally, an antenna prototype with a reflector for unidirectional pattern applications is also developed. The proposed antenna has broader impedance and CP bandwidths but with a more compact size compared with the previous designs. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, a novel dual‐band circularly polarized (CP) dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) for millimeter‐wave (MMW) band is presented. The rectangular dielectric resonator with layered truncated corners is excited by a microstrip‐coupled cross‐slot. CP radiations in the lower band are realized by utilizing two quasi‐TE111 modes operating at 21.7 GHz and 23.8 GHz, while CP radiations in the upper band are obtained by exciting a quasi‐TE113 mode at 28.2 GHz. The dual‐band DRA is fabricated and measured. Due to the higher order mode, the average gain of the DRA in the upper band is about 3 dB higher than that in the lower band. The measured impedance bandwidths (|S11| < ?10 dB) are 17.0% (20.5‐24.3 GHz) and 15.2% (26.1‐30.4 GHz), while the measured axial ratio (AR) bandwidths (AR < 3 dB) are 12.8% (21.2‐24.1 GHz) and 5% (27.4‐28.8 GHz). In addition, the peak gain values are 5 and 8 dBic.  相似文献
