A new simple and rapid polycondensation reaction of 4,4′‐carbonyl‐bis(phthaloyl‐L ‐alanine)diacid chloride [N,N ′‐(4,4′‐carbonyldiphthaloyl)]bisalanine diacid chloride with several diphenols, such as bisphenol‐A, phenolphthalein, 1,8‐dihydroxyanthraquinone, 4,4′‐dihydroxybiphenyl, 1,5‐dihydroxynaphthalene and hydroquinone, in the presence of a small amount of a polar organic medium such as o‐cresol was performed using a domestic microwave oven. The polycondensation reaction proceeded rapidly and was almost complete within 12 min to give a series of poly(ester‐imide)s with inherent viscosities of about 0.35–0.58 dl g−1. The resulting poly(ester‐imide)s were obtained in high yield and are optically active and thermally stable. All the above compounds have been fully characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, inherent viscosity (ηinh), solubility test and specific rotation. Thermal properties of the poly(ester‐imide)s have been investigated using thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). © 2000 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A new class of optically active poly(amide imide)s were synthesized via direct polycondensation reaction of diisocyanates with a chiral diacid monomer. The step‐growth polymerization reactions of monomer bis(p‐amido benzoic acid)‐N‐trimellitylimido‐L‐leucine (BPABTL) (5) as a diacid monomer with 4,4′‐methylene bis(4‐phenylisocyanate) (MDI) (6) was performed under microwave irradiation, solution polymerization under gradual heating and reflux condition in the presence of pyridine (Py), dibuthyltin dilurate (DBTDL), and triethylamine (TEA) as a catalyst and without a catalyst, respectively. The optimized polymerization conditions according to solvent and catalyst for each method were performed with tolylene‐2,4‐diisocyanate (TDI) (7), hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) (8), and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) (9) to produce optically active poly(amide imide)s by the diisocyanate route. The resulting polymers have inherent viscosities in the range of 0.09–1.10 dL/g. These polymers are optically active, thermally stable, and soluble in amide type solvents. All of the above polymers were fully characterized by IR spectroscopy, 1H NMR spectroscopy, elemental analyses, specific rotation, and thermal analyses methods. A pyromellitic dianhydride (benzene‐1,2,4,5‐tetracarboxylic dianhydride) was reacted with L ‐isoleucine in acetic acid, and the resulting imide acid [N,N′‐(pyromellitoyl)‐bis‐L ‐isoleucine] (4) was obtained in a high yield. 4 was converted into N,N′‐(pyromellitoyl)‐bis‐L ‐isoleucine diacid chloride by a reaction with thionyl chloride. The polycondensation reaction of this diacid chloride with several aromatic diamines, including 1,4‐phenylenediamine, 4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl methane, 4,4′‐diaminodiphenylsulfone (4,4′‐sulfonyldianiline), 4,4′‐diaminodiphenylether, 2,4‐diaminotoluene, and 1,3‐phenylenediamine, was developed with two methods. The first method was polymerization under microwave irradiation, and the second method was low‐temperature solution polymerization, with trimethylsilyl chloride used as an activating agent for the diamines. The polymerization reactions proceeded quickly and produced a series of optically active poly(amide imide)s with good yields and moderate inherent viscosities of 0.17–0.25 dL/g. All of the aforementioned polymers were fully characterized by IR, elemental analyses, and specific rotation. 4,4′‐Hexafluoroisopropylidene‐2,2‐bis(phthalic acid anhydride) (1) was treated with L ‐methionine (2) in acetic acid and the resulting 4,4′‐(hexafluoroisopropylidene)‐N,N′‐bis(phthaloyl‐L ‐methionine) diacid (4) was obtained in high yields. The direct polycondensation reaction of this diacid with several aromatic diols, such as bisphenol A (5a), phenolphthalein (5b), 1,4‐dihydroxybenzene (5c), 4,4′‐dihydroxydiphenyl sulfide (5 d), 4,6‐dihydroxypyrimidine (5e), 4,4′‐dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone (5f), and 2,4′‐dihydroxyacetophenone (5g), was carried out in a system of tosyl chloride (TsCl), pyridine (Py), and N,N‐dimethylformamide (DMF). The reactions with TsCl were significantly promoted by controlling alcoholysis with diols, in the presence of catalytic amounts of DMF, to give a series of optically active poly(ester imide)s, (PEI)s, with good yield and moderate inherent viscosity ranging from 0.43 to 0.67 dL/g. The polycondensation reactions were significantly affected by the amounts of DMF, molar concentration of monomers, TsCl and Py, aging time, temperature, and reaction time. All of the aforementioned polymers were fully characterized by 1H NMR, FTIR, elemental analysis, and specific rotation. Pyromellitic dianhydride (1,2,4,5‐benzenetetracarboxylic acid 1,2,4,5‐dianhydide) was reacted with L ‐valine in a mixture of acetic acid and pyridine (3:2) at room temperature, and then was refluxed at 90–100 °C, N,N′‐(pyromellitoyl)‐bis‐L ‐valine diacid was obtained in quantitative yield. The imide–acid was converted to N,N′‐(pyromellitoyl)‐bis‐L ‐valine diacid chloride by reaction with thionyl chloride. Rapid and highly efficient synthesis of a number of poly(amide–imide)s was achieved under microwave irradiation using a domestic microwave oven by polycondensation of N,N′‐(pyromellitoyl)‐bis‐L ‐valine diacid chloride with six different derivatives of 5,5‐disubstituted hydantoin compounds in the presence of a small amount of a polar organic medium that acts as a primary microwave absorber. A suitable organic medium was o‐cresol. The polycondensation proceeded rapidly, compared with conventional melt polycondensation and solution polycondensation and was almost completed within 8 min, giving a series of poly(amide–imide)s with inherent viscosities in the range 0.15–0.36 dl g?1. The resulting poly(amide–imide)s were obtained in high yield and are optically active and thermally stable. All of the above compounds were fully characterized by Fourier‐transform infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopy, elemental analysis, inherent viscosity (ηinh) measurements, solubility testing and specific rotation measurements. The thermal properties of the poly(amide–imide)s were investigated by using thermogravimetric analysis. Copyright © 2004 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Aromatic poly(amide‐imide)s (PAIs) are high‐performance materials with a good compromise between thermal stability and processability when compared with polyamides or polyimides of analogous structures. In addition, the incorporation of photosensitive functional groups and chiral segments into the polymer backbone can lead to interesting polymers for various applications. In this work, six new photosensitive and chiral PAIs were synthesized from the direct polycondensation reaction of novel N,N′‐(bicyclo[2,2,2]oct‐7‐ene‐tetracarboxylic)‐bis‐L ‐amino acids with 2,5‐bis(4‐aminobenzylidene)cyclopentanone as dibenzalacetone moiety using two different methods. The polymerization reactions produced a series of photosensitive and optically active PAIs in high yields and with good inherent viscosities. The resulting polymers were characterized using Fourier transform infrared and 1H NMR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, inherent viscosity, specific rotation, solubility tests and UV‐visible spectroscopy. The thermal properties of the PAIs were investigated using thermogravimetric analysis. Due to the presence of the dibenzalacetone moiety in the polymer chain, the PAIs have photosensitive properties. Also, these PAIs are optically active and soluble in various organic solvents. These resulting new polymers have the potential to be used in column chromatography for the separation of enantiomeric mixtures. Copyright © 2009 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Poly(amide‐imide)s (PAI) bearing azobenzene chromophore groups were prepared by allowing a hydroxyl‐containing azobenzene dye (Disperse Red 1) to react with and reactive‐terminated PAI with weight–average molecular weights ranging from ~ 1.2 to 2.0 × 104 g/mol. Such PAI were prepared by the condensation of trimellitic anhydride (TMA) and 4,4′‐methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI). The final polymers presented a deep red color, with an absorption maxima in N,N‐dimethylformamide (DMF) solution at 490 nm, close to the azobenzene reactant used (Disperse Red 1) and molecular weights slightly higher than the pristine polymer, showing that the azo chromophore incorporation reaction does not lead to side reactions. The azofunctionalized polymer presented a high Tg value (170°C) that could be increased by a thermal curing process to 240°C. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The direct preparation of various aromatic poly(urethane‐imide)s from 4‐p‐biphenyl‐2,6‐bis(4‐trimellitimidophenyl)pyridine (1) using diphenylphosphoryl azide (DPPA) was investigated. The polymers were mainly obtained by the conversion of imide ring‐containing diacid 1 to corresponding di(carbonyl azide) 2 with DPPA and then to diisocyanate 3 through the Curtius rearrangement of compound 2 followed by polyaddition of 3 in different amounts with aromatic dihydroxy compounds. The molecular weights of the resulting poly(urethane‐imide)s were evaluated viscometrically. All of the resulted polymers were thoroughly characterized by spectroscopic methods and elemental analyses. The poly(urethane‐imide)s exhibited an excellent solubility in a variety of polar solvents. Crystallinity nature of the polymers was estimated by means of WXRD. The glass‐transition temperatures of the polymers determined by DSC method were in the range of 191–202°C. The 10% weight loss temperatures of the poly(urethane‐imide)s from their thermal gravimetric analysis curves were found to be in the range of 392–416°C in nitrogen. The films of the resulting polymers were also prepared by casting the solution. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 101: 869–877, 2006  相似文献

A series of novel aromatic poly(ester‐ether‐imide)s with inherent viscosity values of 0.44–0.74 dL g?1 were prepared by the diphenylchlorophosphate‐activated direct polycondensation of an imide ring‐containing diacid namely 5‐(4‐trimellitimidophenoxy)‐1‐trimellitimido naphthalene ( 1 ) with various aromatic dihydroxy compounds in the presence of pyridine and lithium chloride. Owing to comparison of the characterization data, an ester‐containing model compound ( 2 ) was also synthesized by the reaction of 1 with phenol. The model compound 2 and the resulted polymers were fully characterized by FT‐IR and NMR spectroscopy. The ultraviolet λmax values of the poly(ester‐ether‐imide)s were also determined. The resulting polymers exhibited an excellent organosolubility in a variety of high polar solvents such as N,N‐dimethylacetamide, N,N‐dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, and N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone. They were soluble even in common less polar organic solvents such as pyridine, m‐cresol, and tetrahydrofuran on heating. Crystallinity of the polymers was estimated by means of wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction. The resulted polymers exhibited nearly an amorphous nature. From differential scanning calorimetry thermograms, the polymers showed glass‐transition temperatures between 221 and 245°C. Thermal behaviors of the obtained polymers were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis, and the 10% weight loss temperatures of the poly(ester‐ether‐imide)s were found to be over 410°C in nitrogen. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Optically active poly(amide‐imide) oligomers were synthesized by direct polycondensation between an aromatic diamine and a dicarboxylic acid both containing a diphenylsilylene unit. The reaction was carried out using triphenyl phosphite/pyridine in the presence of CaCl2 and N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone as solvent. Oligomers were obtained in good yields and showed high solubility in common aprotic polar solvents. The precursors, monomers and poly(amide‐imide) oligomers were characterized using elemental analysis and Fourier transform infrared and NMR (1H, 13C, 29Si) spectroscopy. Additionally, the main vibrations of the functional groups (C?O, C?C or N? H) in the oligomers with respect to temperature were characterized using Raman spectroscopy. The glass transition temperature was determined by studying the Raman spectra and corroborated using differential scanning calorimetry. The thermal stability was studied using thermogravimetric analysis. The molecular mass of the compounds was obtained from matrix‐assisted laser desorption ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry and their optical properties were analyzed using UV‐visible diode array spectrophotometry. The electronic properties of the oligomers as well as the delocalization of charge carriers within their structures were analyzed using conductance‐voltage curves, which showed that these materials are excellent candidates for integrated optoelectronic applications.
