Closed-die forging of external spline gear forms is analysed using an upper bound elemental energy method. The kinematically admissible velocity field for the three-dimensional deformation was obtained on the assumption that the profiled surface of the tooth was straight but tapered. The upper bound to the deforming load necessary and the deformed configurations are predicted using integration of the formulation of energy expressions which were obtained from the presented velocity fields. Two different forging methods denoted here as A, viz. a side extrusion method and B, an upset forging method, the details of which are given in the text, were considered in the present analysis and the theoretical results compared with experimental ones. Experiments were carried out on plasticine as model material at room temperature where talcum powder was used as a lubricant. The present investigation revealed that the analytical method B predicts a reduced forging load and improved configuration better than method A for the forged products. 相似文献

In this paper, the influence of the configuration of the geometric structure of the machined surface on the course of the wear process of frictional pairs is discussed. Arrangement of traces of machining determined the level of surface structure isotropy. The characteristics of surface layers are discussed, with particular emphasis on the surface structure isotropy. The results of experimental investigations carried out on the specially designed and made setup are presented. As the measures of the wear process, the following quantities were determined: the mass decrement of samples and changes of the surface roughness parameters, root mean square (RMS) of profile R q and reduced peak height of profile R pk . The results of experimental investigations were registered for structures with different levels of isotropy and, thus, traces of machining. The investigations confirm the influence of the tested factors on the intensity of the wear process. 相似文献

Flexible rolling is a novel forming process for three-dimensional surface parts using a pair of bendable rolls. By controlling the distribution of the gap between the upper and lower forming rolls in the rolling process, the sheet metal is nonuniformly thinned in the thickness direction and the longitudinal elongation is different in the width direction of the sheet metal, which makes the sheet metal deform in rolling direction. With the rotation of the bendable rolls, the sheet metal is deformed consecutively and a three-dimensional surface part could be obtained. A small experimental device has been designed. Finite element analysis (FEA) model is established. Spherical surface and saddle surface are simulated, and their experimental results are presented. The major purpose of the present work is to analyze the forming precision of flexible rolling and the reasons for the shape errors through simulated and experimental results. Cost and time are two major concerns that are needed to manufacture new sheet metal forming dies in the industry. A cost-effective approach for rapid production of sheet metal forming dies with excellent wear resistance and mechanical properties was developed using additive manufacturing and rapid tooling technologies. This paper deals with the effect of zirconia (ZrO2) addition on the mechanical properties of sheet metal forming dies. Sheet metal forming experiments confirmed that the sheet metal forming dies fabricated by epoxy resin filled with 30 wt% ZrO2 particles have the low corner wear. The sheet metal dies can be fabricated within 2 days to meet the requirements of reducing the development time in the research and development stage for a new product. 相似文献
