In order to explore new scientific and innovative communities, analyses based on a technological infrastructure and its related
tools, for example, ‘Web of science’ database for Scientometric analysis, are necessary. However, there is little systematic
documentation of social media data and webometric analysis in relation to Korean and broader Asian innovation communities.
In this short communication, we present (1) webometric techniques to identify communication processes on the Internet, such
as social media data collection and analysis using an API-based application; and (2) experimentation with new types of data
visualization using NodeXL, such as social and semantic network analysis. Our research data is drawn from the social networking
site, Twitter. We also examine the overlap between innovation communities in terms of their shared members, and then, (3)

Given their exposure to diverse institutional settings, decision making in multinational enterprises (MNE) is marked by inconsistencies
and conflict. Within the comparative institutional analysis (CIA) literature, such inconsistencies are seen as a source of
experimentation or innovation. By contrast, in the international business (IB) literature, institutions are primarily understood
as constraints on MNE activity. The latter focuses on ‘institutional effects’ taking institutions as stable and determining

Founded during the Depression and disbanded during the post-war prosperity and McCarthy’s redbaiting, the New York Photo League was a radical hub for photographers both professional and amateur. This article focuses on the unique pedagogy of its school, particularly of its leading teacher Sid Grossman. It contributes to our understanding of the relatively understudied role of pedagogic thinking in the history of the medium in the US. More specifically, the League’s school is discussed here as a unique and ground-breaking historical example of social-documentary oriented activist pedagogy. This is done by examining the sources of photographic knowledge its teachers conveyed to its students; its educational approach to documentary photographic practice; and the social-aesthetic discourse developed and promoted by its teachers, including the conflict of views within the League as represented by two prominent documentary projects: Grossman’s Chelsea Document and Aaron Siskind’s Harlem Document. The conclusion refers critically to the League’s acceptance in recent years in the context of its growing commodification. This prevalent retrospective view of the League downplays its school’s distinctive activist education and Grossman’s radical pedagogic legacy. 相似文献

As part of a four‐week fluid mechanics laboratory, Mechanical Engineering students were challenged to design and manufacture the least restrictive flow nozzle for a standard test condition within several design constraints. The Nozzle Design Challenge (NDC) combined analysis, design, manufacturing, and experimentation. The positive student responses to the NDC were overwhelming. Formal evaluation of the NDC included the measured nozzle flow rates and the amount of time spent in the laboratory. The highest flow rate nozzle allowed substantially more flow than the nozzle with a 1‐inch diameter hole used for demonstration. Every group spent more time in the laboratory than was scheduled, which may indicate high levels of motivation for the project. The examination scores covering the principles learned in this laboratory were compared to the previous semester's students who did not perform the innovation‐based design and fabrication project. After blocking out the effects of GPA, the results indicate that the students who undertook the design experience performed significantly better on the examination. 相似文献

ABSTRACTHigher education institutions (HEI) have undergone fundamental changes driven by ICT developments, globalisation, and the advent of socio-constructivist pedagogic approaches. As a result, within the UK, capital investment in new and retrofitted facilities has reached a record expenditure. Recent research on user-related evaluations of facilities, particularly in HEI learning spaces, highlights the prevalence of evaluations dominated by reductionist approaches focused on measuring outcomes, on users, such as satisfaction, learning outcomes or engagement. These approaches have a major pitfall, neglecting the complexity of the dynamic relationships between people, spaces, technology, institutional structure and pedagogic practices. In response, this paper aims to propose a shift on current approaches by exploring the application of sociotechnical systems theory to learning space design and evaluation. Amid these, it is argued that Cognitive Work Analysis (CWA) offers promising alternatives to inform design and management of higher education learning spaces. Finally, within the paper, three CWA interventions are proposed and discussed, focusing on how these address previously identified shortcomings of predominant approaches used in HEI learning space design and evaluation. 相似文献

Most preset response surface methodology (RSM) designs offer ease of implementation and good performance over a wide range of process and design optimization applications. These designs often lack the ability to adapt the design on the basis of the characteristics of application and experimental space so as to reduce the number of experiments necessary. Hence, they are not cost‐effective for applications where the cost of experimentation is high or when the experimentation resources are limited. In this paper, we present an adaptive sequential response surface methodology (ASRSM) for industrial experiments with high experimentation cost, limited experimental resources, and high design optimization performance requirement. The proposed approach is a sequential adaptive experimentation approach that combines concepts from nonlinear optimization, design of experiments, and response surface optimization. The ASRSM uses the information gained from the previous experiments to design the subsequent experiment by simultaneously reducing the region of interest and identifying factor combinations for new experiments. Its major advantage is the experimentation efficiency such that for a given response target, it identifies the input factor combination (or containing region) in less number of experiments than the classical single‐shot RSM designs. Through extensive simulated experiments and real‐world case studies, we show that the proposed ASRSM method outperforms the popular central composite design method and compares favorably with optimal designs.
