We propose that He II exhibits macroscopic [ P /N O(1)] quantum zero-point motion in momentum space, i.e., that a nonzero root-mean-square superfluid velocity exists even in an equilibrium superfluid system at rest. At absolute zero, using coherent states, we relate the uncertainty P /N in the total momentumP (per particle) to the long-range-order (LRO) part of the phase gradient correlation function, which is proposed as an order parameter. The local equilibrium equation for the superfluid velocity potential derived by Biswas and Rama Rao yields, in the strict equilibrium limit, the equation determining this order parameter in terms of fluctuation correlations that remain to be determined. The order parameter is interaction dependent, nonzero atT=0 if (0)–0V0>0, and can vanish at some transition temperatureT when fluctuation terms become comparable to theT=0 value. (HereV 0 0, and (0) are the uniform parts of the potential, density, and chemical potential with shifted zero of energy, respectively.) A characteristic length (T), diverging atT=T , appears naturally, with its defining relation reducing to a macroscopic uncertainty relation ( P /N)(0)=/2 atT=0. With certain assumptions it is shown that atT=0, LRO in the phase gradient correlation function is incompatible with off-diagonal long-range order (ODLRO) in the (r)(r) correlation function, and with nonzero condensate function.  相似文献

We present data on the copper isotope effect (63Cu-65Cu), Cu =-nTc/nmCu, for two isotopic pairs of oxygen-deficient YBa2Cu3O7–, where varies between 0.06 and 0.52. Cu is below 0.01 at =0.06 (fully oxygenated), it takes values between –0.14 and –0.34 in the 60 K plateau. Larger negative values of Cu are observed away from the plateau. The dependence of Cu is similar to that of the pressure effect dnTc/dP.  相似文献

Summary The hypersonic small-disturbance theory is reexamined in this study. A systematic and rigorous approach is proposed to obtain the nonlinear asymptotic equation from the Taylor-Maccoll equation for hypersonic flow past a circular cone. Using this approach, consideration is made of a general asymptotic expansion of the unified supersonic-hypersonic similarity parameter together with the stretched coordinate. Moreover, the successive approximate solutions of the nonlinear hypersonic smalldisturbance equation are solved by iteration. Both of these approximations provide a closed-form solution, which is suitable for the analysis of various related flow problems. Besides the velocity components, the shock location and other thermodynamic properties are presented. Comparisons are also made of the zeroth-order with first-order approximations for shock location and pressure coefficient on the cone surface, respectively. The latter (including the nonlinear effects) demonstrates better correlation with exact solution than the zeroth-order approximation. The problem of freezing of pure water in a round pipe is treated with due regard for convection under asymmetric thermal boundary conditions in the absence of motion along the pipe. The problem is solved numerically using the control volume approach, SIMPLER algorithm, and the enthalpy method. Results are obtained for three Grashof (Gr) and six Biot (Bi) numbers: Gr = 1.55 × 106, Bi = 0.305 (0 < ), Bi = 0.044 ( < 2); Gr = 1.24 × 107, Bi = 0.610 (0 < ), Bi = 0.087 ( < 2); Gr = 9.89 × 107, Bi = 1.220 (0 < ), Bi = 0.174 ( < 2). The correctness of calculation of the problem disregarding free-convection flows is analyzed.  相似文献

The dynamic Young's modulus (EL) and loss tangent (tan L ) along the grain, dynamic shear modulus (GL) and loss tangent (tan S) in the vertical section, and density () of a hundred spruce wood specimens used for the soundboards of musical instruments were determined. The relative acoustic conversion efficiency ( ) and a ratio reflecting the anisotropy of wood (, (EL/GL)(tan S/tan L)) were defined in order to evaluate the acoustic quality of wood along the grain. There was a positive correlation between and , and the variation in was larger than that in . It seemed logical to evaluate the acoustic quality of spruce wood by a measure of . By using a cell wall model, those acoustic factors were expressed with the physical properties of the cell wall constituents. This model predicted that the essential requirement for an excellent soundboard is smaller fibril angle of the cell wall, which yields higher and higher . On the other hand, the effects of chemical treatments on the and of wood were clarified experimentally and analyzed theoretically. It was suggested that the and of wood cannot be improved at the same time by chemical treatment.  相似文献

The excellent biocompatibility of titanium and its alloys is intimately related with the properties of the surface in contact with the biological environment, and therefore it is closely connected with the stable, passivating oxide layer that forms on its surface. In the present paper, the oxide layer on the alloy Ti6Al7Nb has been characterized using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning Auger microscopy and pH-dependent lateral force microscopy. The alloying elements Al and Nb are incorporated in the oxide layer and detected in their most stable oxidized form, as Al2O3 and Nb2O5. Their distribution in the oxide reflects the underlying - microstructure, with enrichment of Al in the - and of Nb in the -phase (determined by electron microprobe). Friction measurements (lateral force microscopy) indicate slightly different, pH-dependent, lateral forces above the - and -phase structures that point to small local variations in surface charges. © 1999 Kluwer Academic Publishers  相似文献

Ageing characteristics of an extruded eutectoid Zn-Al based alloy were investigated using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy techniques. The extruded alloy consisted of Al rich phase and Zn rich E and phases. The original cast eutectoid Zn-Al alloy was extruded at 250 °C. Both supersaturated s and s phase decomposed during extrusion and appeared as fine and coarse lamellar structures. The E and phases particles formed in the original interdendritic region. It was found that two Zn rich phases E and decomposed sequentially during ageing at 170, 140 °C. The decomposition of the E phase occurred as a discontinuous precipitation in the early stage of ageing and the decomposition of the phase took place in a four phase transformation: + T + in the prolonged ageing. Two typical morphologies of the decomposition of the Zn rich phases E and were distinctive in back-scattered scanning electron microscopy.  相似文献

From the second-sound velocityU 2 near the superfluid transition point, the superfluid densities in3He-4He mixtures, s (X) and s (), were deduced along the paths of constant3He concentrationX and of constant chemical potential difference of3He and4He. The following critical exponents of s are determined: (a) =XX for s (X) in the(X, T) plane,(b) X for s (X) in the(, T) plane, and(c) for s () in the(, T) plane. It is found that and X change by about 4–6% relative to with increasing3He concentration up toX=0.4 and by 8–10% up toX=0.53. It seems that, belowX=0.53, universality hold for . Values of have been found to be in good agreement with the critical exponent of s in pure4He under constant pressure. The values of and X forX0.53 are also found to be consistent with the scaling relations in the (,T) plane of3He-4He mixture.Work performed in part while at the Electrotechnical Laboratory.  相似文献

Conclusions It is possible by means of the above resonator, according to our analysis and in the absence of air gaps between the sample and the line, to evaluate the real components and of permeability and permittivity respectively in the range of 2 to 100 with an error between ±3% and ±10% in the temperature range from room temperature to +400°C, and the imaginary components and (for tan and tan in the range of 0.001 to 2) with an error of 7 to 20% over the same temperature range.  相似文献

The effect of antimony on the creep behaviour (dislocation creep) of a 25 wt% Cr-20 wt% Ni stainless steel with ~ 0.005 wt% C was studied with a view to assessing the segregation effect. The antimony content of the steel was varied up to 4000 ppm. The test temperature range was 1153 to 1193 K, the stress range, 9.8 to 49.0 MPa, and the grain-size range, 40 to 600m. The steady state creep rate, , decreases with increasing antimony content, especially in the range of intermediate grain sizes (100 to 300m). Thixomolded magnesium alloy AM60 plates joined by friction-stir welding were observed to be as strong or stronger than the unwelded base material. The thixotropic microstructures of the as-molded plates consisted of either 3% or 18% primary solid fraction of -Mg globules (45 m average size) in a eutectic mixture consisting of -Mg grains (10 m) surrounded by Mg17Al12 intermetallic grains in the -Mg grain boundaries (having an average size of 1–2 m). This complex, composite microstructure became a homogeneous (Mg + 6% Al)), recrystallized, equiaxed grain (10–15 m) microstructure in the weld zone.  相似文献

Our previous theory yielded for the Zeeman splitting of the imaginaryJ=1 collective mode in3He-B the result =2+0.25J z ( is the effective Larmor frequency). In this paper we take into account the downward shift of the pair-breaking edge from 2 to 22– (2 and 1 are the longitudinal and transverse gap parameters). This leads to a complex Landé factor: the frequencies of theJ z =±1 components become =2+0.39J z , and the linewidths of these resonances become finite: =0.18. The coupling amplitudes of theJ z =±1 components to density are found to be proportional to gap distortion, (12/(/)2. Our results for the ultrasonic attenuation due to theJ z =±1,J=1 modes are capable of explaining the field dependence of the attenuation close to the pair-breaking edge as observed by Dobbs, Saunders, et al. The observed peak is caused by theJ z =–1 component: its height increases due to gap distortion as the field is increased, and the peak shifts downward in temperature and its width increases with the field due to the complex Landé factor. TheJ z =+1 component gives rise to a corresponding dip relative to the continuum attenuation.  相似文献

A laboratory apparatus was constructed to atomize metal alloys by forcing them through sintered ceramic disc filters. The process combines filtration of oxides and/or undesirable second phase particles with atomization. Sintered Al2O3 and SiO2 disc filters with average pore sizes in the range of 36 to 150 m were used. The effectiveness of various filters in removing synthetic inclusions from Al-Ti-B melts was studied. 2 to 10 m size TiB2 particles were successfully filtered out. Atomization experiments were done with pure aluminium and 7075 aluminium alloy. Spherical powders, 150 to 2000 m in size, of 7075 aluminium alloy with secondary dendrite arm spacings between 4 to 8 m, were cold compacted and extruded into a billet. Room temperature longitudinal properties of the billet in T6 condition were: YS 80×103 psi, UTS 94.3×103 psi, elongation 15% and R.A. 42%.  相似文献

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to study the kinetics of S and precipitation in AA2618 and its composite containing 15 vol % Al2O3 particles . The unreinforced alloy and the composite were fabricated by a proprietary casting method, followed by extrusion. The DSC studies were carried out on as-quenched samples of the test materials. The precipitation of the S and phases in both materials was found to be kinetically controlled and obey the modified Avrami-Johnson-Mehl equation. The growth mechanisms for S and formation in AA2618 seemed unaffected by the addition of Al2O3 particles. The growth parameters obtained for the precipitation of these phases in the matrix alloy and the composite were not significantly different.  相似文献

The 2 phase transformation in fractured high temperature stress rupture Ti-48Al-2Nb(at.%) alloy has been studied by analytical electron microscopy. 2 and phases were found at grain boundaries. 2 layers that suspended in layers and interfacial ledge higher than 2d (111) at /2 interfaces were observed in the lamellar grains. These facts indicated that 2 phase transformation and dynamic recrystallization have occurred during high temperature stress rupture deformation. It can be concluded that deformation induced 2 phase transformation and dynamic recrystallization resulted in the presence of particles at grain boundaries. A structural and compositional transition area between deformation-induced 2(or ) and its adjacently original (or 2) phases was found by HREM and EDS and is suggested as a way to transform between and 2 phase during high temperature stress rupture deformation. The transition area was formed by slide of partial dislocations on close-packed planes and diffusion of atoms.  相似文献

This paper deals with the problem of twisting of a non-homogeneous, isotropic, half-space by rotating a circular part of its boundary surface (0ra, z = 0) through a given angle. A ring (a<r<b, z = 0) outside this circle is stress-free and the remaining part (r>b, z = 0) is rigidly clamped. The shear modulus is assumed to vary with the cylindrical coordinates r, z by the power law ( = , r z ). Such a dependence is of practical interest in the context of Soil Mechanics. The problem leads to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind which is solved numerically, giving an evaluation of the influence of non-homogeneity on the torque at the surface and the stress intensity factor. The homogeneous case studied in [16] is recovered. Expressions for some quantities of physical importance such as the torque applied at the surface and stress intensity factor are obtained. It appears from our investigation that the influence of clamping dies out with increasing and . Quantitative evaluations are given and some curves for the relative increase, due to clamping, in the torque and in the stress intensity factor are presented.  相似文献

Studies have been made of the non-ohmic behaviour of the system ZnO-Nb2O5, as a function of composition, in the range 0.1 to 0.5 wt % of Nb2O5 and sintering temperature varying from 900 to 1300° C. It is found that the non-linearity coefficient varies with composition and sintering temperature. The maximum value of ( 8) is achieved for the samples containing 0.2 wt% Nb2O5, sintered at 1100°C. These results are interpreted in terms of the variation of barrier height with composition.  相似文献
