In this study, a novel method was proposed for preparing high-flux ceramic membranes via digital light processing (DLP) three-dimensional (3D) printing technology. Two different alumina powders were well dispersed in a photosensitive resin to form a UV-curable slurry for DLP 3D printing. The effects of the grading ratio on the viscosity of the slurry and the porosity, pore size distribution, mechanical strength, roughness, and permeability of the ceramic membranes were systematically investigated. The thermal treatment conditions were also studied and optimized. The obtained ceramic membranes exhibited a uniform pore size distribution, a high porosity, a low tortuosity factor, and an asymmetric structure. The combination of these factors led to a high flux for the 3D-printed ceramic membranes. DLP 3D printing exhibited a good potential to be a strong candidate for the next generation of ceramic membrane fabrication technology.  相似文献

Digital light processing (DLP)-based ceramic stereolithography has attracted significant attentions due to the high printing speed and high dimensional accuracy of DLP printers. However, undesired dropping of unfinished ceramic parts during printing, owing to inadequate adhesion between the first cured layer and the substrate of the building platform, still remains a challenge. In this study, the relationship between the adhesion properties of ultraviolet (UV)-curable alumina (α-Al2O3) suspensions and the functionalities and structures of UV-curable acrylate monomers was investigated. With an increase in the proportions of monofunctional monomers, the adhesion abilities of UV-curable alumina suspensions enhanced because of reduced volume shrinkage, however, inferior curing performances were observed due to a decrease in the double bond densities. Furthermore, the large-volume branched chain structures in monofunctional monomers and ethyoxyl groups in polyfunctional monomers effectively decreased the volume contraction, improving the adhesion performances of UV-curable alumina suspensions and facilitating the conversion of double bonds to provide excellent curing properties, further guaranteeing strong adhesion of these suspensions to the substrate.  相似文献

For the UV-curable alumina suspensions used in digital light processing (DLP) stereolithography, optimizing the dispersant type is important for achieving low viscosity, high solid loading, and remarkable self-leveling behavior. However, the inter-particle interactions in UV-curable alumina suspensions dispersed using different dispersants are overlooked. Herein, the effect of inter-particle interactions on rheology, solid loading, and self-leveling behavior of UV-curable alumina suspensions was systematically investigated. Three different commercial dispersants were used: oleic acid (OA), alkane-acrylic phosphate ester (PM1590), and copolymer dispersant (BYK111). After dispersing, BYK111 endowed alumina powders with thicker adsorption polymer layer to provide stronger steric repulsion force and facilitated better wetting of alumina powers in the photocurable resin, resulting in a reduced network structure degree, which decreased the viscosity (1.04 Pa s at 30 s?1); homogeneous packing of alumina powders, which enhanced the maximum solid loading (55 vol%); and inhibition of particle flocculation, which facilitated the spontaneous spreading of suspension.  相似文献

Digital light processing (DLP)-stereolithography three-dimensional (3D) printing is a well known technique for fabricating components with complex geometries. However, the application of DLP 3D printing to functional ceramics such as 8 mol% yttria-stabilized zirconia (8YSZ), which is one of the most extensively used electrolyte materials for solid oxide fuel cells, is still a great challenge. Therefore, the fabrication of fully 8YSZ monoliths via DLP 3D printing was attempted herein, including the preparation of UV-curable ceramic suspensions, shaping of green bodies, and debinding and sintering. The results show that intact green bodies printed using a 30 vol% 8YSZ-photosensitive resin suspension with 0.1 wt% oleic acid as the dispersant under the optimized printing conditions was sufficiently dense without connected pores after vacuum debinding and sintering in air. The successful fabrication of 8YSZ monoliths with design flexibility via 3D printing provides a simple method for preparing functional ceramic components and may expand the application of 3D printing technology to the energy field.  相似文献

Ceramic cores are key components to form inner hollow structures in aero-engine blades, and 3D printing is an ideal molding technology for ceramic cores. In this work, silica-based ceramic cores are fabricate via 3D printing of digital light processing (DLP) stereolithography, and the anisotropy in microstructure and property are controlled by aluminum powders. The ceramic cores without aluminum powders exhibit anisotropic microstructure with interlayer gaps, which get narrower and disappear with doping of 7.5–10 wt% of aluminum powders, due to the volume expansion during oxidization reaction of aluminum powders filling the interlayer gaps. The anisotropy in mechanical property is rely on the printing direction, and the ratio of strength in different directions (σVH) is put forward to value the mechanical anisotropy; the ratios rise from 0.40 to 0.92 at room temperature and 0.51 to 0.97 at 1540 °C, as 7.5 wt% of aluminum is doped, and the optimized ceramic cores show high-temperature strengths of 16.6 MPa and 16.1 MPa in different printing directions. Even though ceramic cores with 10 wt% of aluminum show uniform microstructure and higher σVH ratio, the weak particle bonding within printing layers limits their mechanical property, and the strengths decrease to 13.8 MPa and 13.4 MPa at 1540 °C. This work inspires a new technique to excellent high-temperature mechanical properties with anisotropy control in 3D printing of ceramic cores.  相似文献

Stereolithography of UV-curable ceramic suspensions can benefit from the preparation of stable, low viscosity and high solid loading ceramic suspensions without yield stress. Appropriately adding dispersants could optimize the rheological behavior to meet the requirements of stereolithography. In this work, short-chain dicarboxylic acids were utilized to modify the alumina particles and achieve well dispersed ceramic suspensions. The maximum adsorption capacities of dicarboxylic acids were determined by the method of High Performance Liquid Chromatography and the mechanism of surface modification and dispersion was also discussed. Dicarboxylic acids’ influence on the rheology behavior was systematically studied. When doses of dicarboxylic acids reach their maximum adsorption capacities, the alumina suspensions would achieve their lowest viscosities and yield stresses. 45 vol% alumina suspension with a viscosity ˂2 Pa s at shear rate 30 s−1 was successfully formulated. A sintering density of 96.5% can be achieved for the sebacic acid-modified alumina UV-curable suspension.  相似文献

Stereolithography (SLA) has been regarded as the most promising rapid prototype (RP) production method for ceramic parts recently because of its better precision in size and site control. The rheological behavior and curing behavior of suspensions are controlling factors for ceramic stereolithography. In this work, oleic acid (OA), stearic acid (SA) and Poly(Acrylate Ammonium) (PAA-NH4) were studied as the surfactant for HDDA-based suspension formulation. Modified alumina particles exhibit different wettability with HDDA monomer and thus the different rheology behavior and stability between the formulated suspensions. OA shows the best performance among all three dispersants. 40 vol% alumina suspensions with a viscosity ˂3 Pa s at 30 s−1 shear rate were successfully formulated with OA and SA. A sintering density of 95% can be reached for the OA- and SA-modified alumina UV-curable resins.  相似文献

Digital Light Processing (DLP) is a promising approach to fabricate delicate ceramic components with high-fidelity structural features. In this work, the alumina and zirconia/alumina ceramic suspensions with low viscosity and high solid loading (40 vol%) were prepared specifically for DLP 3D printing. After debinding and sintering, the final parts were obtained without any defects. The surface morphologies and mechanical properties of alumina (Al2O3) and zirconia toughened alumina (ZTA) composites were investigated and the results showed that the final parts exhibited high relative densities and good interlayer combination at the sintering temperature of 1600 °C. Comparing with the Al2O3, the ZTA composites exhibited significantly enhanced density (99.4%), bending strength (516.7 MPa) and indentation fracture toughness (7.76 MPa m1/2).  相似文献

Ceramic core is an essential component in the precise casting of hollow turbine blades, and the investigation on 3D printing of silica-based ceramic cores is crucial to the development of aviation industry; however, they are suffered from difficulty in high-temperature strength and structural anisotropy. In present work, silica-based ceramic cores were prepared via DLP stereolithography 3D printing, and the anisotropy management on microstructures and properties were explored based on the particle size of fused silica powders. In 3D printed ceramic cores with coarse powders, significant anisotropy was displayed exhibiting multilayer structure with large gaps in horizontal printing and uniform porous microstructure in the vertical direction, which was further explained by the particle deposition in printing. With finer silica powders, the uniformity in the microstructures was highly improved, attributed to the enhanced particle dispersion in ceramic slurries and promoted interlayer particle rearrangement during sintering. To evaluate the anisotropy in mechanical property, the ratio of vertical strength to horizontal strength (σVH) was proposed, which rose from 0.48 to 0.86 as the particle size decreased from 35 µm to 5 µm, suggesting enhanced mechanical uniformity. While the average particle size of silica powders was 5 µm, the flexure strengths of ceramic cores in different directions were up to 18.5 MPa and 16.3 MPa at 1540 °C with σVH ratio of 0.88, which well satisfied the demands for the casting of turbine blades. This work inspires new guidance on the anisotropy management in ceramic cores prepared by 3D printing, and provides new technology for fabrication of silica-based ceramic cores with superior high temperature mechanical properties.  相似文献

Polymer derived silicon oxycarbide ceramic materials and silicon carbide whiskers reinforced ceramic composite are prepared through digital light processing (DLP) 3D printing technology in the present work. A new type of UV-curable preceramic polymer is firstly synthesized and then two types of photopolymer resins with and without SiC whiskers as reinforcement are prepared. Due to the high curing rate and good fluidity of the resins, they are applied in DLP 3D printing and various 3D objects with complicated structures and high printing resolution have been printed. The derived ceramic materials show amorphous microstructure and there is no apparent porosity and cracking throughout the whole sample surface of the ceramic materials and the SiC whiskers are uniformly embedded in the ceramic matrix and remain intact and unaffected during the pyrolysis process. The SiC whiskers reduced the shrinkage and mass loss. More importantly, it significantly improves the mechanical performance of the derived ceramic materials in which the compressive strength increases from 77.5 ± 10.2 MPa to 98.4 ± 12.3 MPa. Benefiting from the easiness of the fabrication, high printing resolution and excellent mechanical performance, the derived ceramic materials have great potential applications in various areas.  相似文献

Digital Light Processing (DLP) is a promising technique for the preparation of ceramic parts with complex shapes and high accuracy. In this study, 3 mol% yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) UV-curable slurries were prepared and printed via DLP. Two different solid loadings (40.5 and 43.6 vol%, respectively) and printing directions were investigated to assess the influence of these parameters on physical and mechanical properties of the sintered parts. Zirconia samples were sintered at 1550 °C for 1 h, achieving a very high relative density (99.2%TD), regardless of solid loading and printing direction. FE-SEM micrographs shown a homogeneous and defect-free cross section with an average grains size of 0.56 ± 0.19 µm. Finally, mechanical properties were influenced by printing direction and zirconia vol%. Indeed, the composition with the higher solid loading (i.e. 43.6 vol%) had the highest three-point flexural strength (751 ± 83 MPa) when tested perpendicular to the printing plane.  相似文献

Ceramic laser stereolithography is a manufacturing process suitable candidate for the production of complex shape technical ceramics. The green ceramic is produced layer by layer through laser polymerisation of UV curable ceramic suspensions. A number of critical issues deserve attention: high solid loading and low viscosity of the suspensions, high UV reactivity, prevention of interlayer delamination in the green and in the sintered body, good mechanical performance. In this work, ZrO2 reinforced Al2O3 components have been obtained from an acrylic modified zircon loaded with alumina powders. The zircon compound is effective as organic photoactivated resin and allows the dispersion of a high volume fraction of Al2O3 powder (up to 50 vol.%) while keeping viscosity at reasonable low values. The zircon compound also represents a liquid ceramic precursor that converts to oxide after burning out of the binder. Thanks to the good dispersion of the alumina powder in the zircon acrylate, a uniform dispersion of ZrO2 submicron particles is obtained after pyrolysis. These are located at the grain boundaries between alumina grains. Formation of both monoclinic and tetragonal ZrO2 occurs as evidenced by XRD. No delamination occurs in bending tests as evidenced by SEM fractography, satisfactory modulus and strength values were concurrently found.  相似文献

The preparation of high solids loading Al2O3 paste is of great significance for improving the properties of ceramics formed by UV-curing. However, the solid contents of alumina slurry used by digital light processing (DLP) and traditional alumina paste for stereolithography (SLA) are both less than 80 wt%. With increase in solid content, the viscosity of paste increases sharply, and rheological property deteriorates. In this study, ceramic paste containing 85 wt% (62 vol%) Al2O3 was prepared for SLA-3D printing of ceramics, and more than 85 wt% solid content was achieved by dispersant and other additives. Effects of different dispersants on rheological and curing properties of Al2O3 ceramic paste were studied. At room temperature, the viscosity of 85 wt% Al2O3 ceramic paste was 51733 mPa s at shear rate of 30 s?1. A novel method was proposed to control curing deformation of parts during printing. As-manufactured ceramic did not show any cracks by naked eye and exhibited excellent mechanical properties, with three-point bending strength of 540 MPa, fracture toughness of 4.19 MPa m1/2, Vickers hardness of 16 GPa, surface roughness of 0.463 μm, and density of 3.86 g/cm3.  相似文献

Stereolithography based 3D printing provides an efficient pathway to fabricate alumina ceramics, and the exploration on the mechanical properties of 3D printed alumina ceramics is crucial to the development of 3D printing ceramic technology. However, alumina ceramics are difficult to sinter due to their high melting point. In this work, alumina ceramics were prepared via stereolithography based 3D printing technology, and the improvement in the mechanical properties was investigated based on the content, the type and the particle size of sintering aids (TiO2, CaCO3, and MgO). The flexural strength of the sintered ceramics increased greatly (from 139.2 MPa to 216.7 MPa) with the increase in TiO2 content (from 0.5 wt% to 1.5 wt%), while significant anisotropy in mechanical properties (216.7 MPa in X-Z plane and 121.0 MPa in X–Y plane) was observed for the ceramics with the addition of 1.5 wt TiO2. The shrinkage and flexural strength of the ceramics decreased with the increase in CaCO3 content due to the formation of elongated grains, which led to the formation of large-sized residual pores in the ceramics. The addition of MgO help decrease the anisotropic differences in shrinkage and flexural strength of the sintered ceramics due to the formation of regularly shaped grains. This work provides guidance on the adjustment in flexural strength, shrinkage, and anisotropic behavior of 3D printed alumina ceramics, and provides new methods for the fabrication of 3D printed alumina ceramics with superior mechanical properties.  相似文献

Alumina ceramics with optimized microstructures and mechanical properties were obtained by the attractive digital lighting processing (DLP) additive manufacturing methodology in the present study. A acrylate-based resin system was designed for the alumina powders with a mean particle size of 0.5 μm. The influence of oligomer on the viscosity and polymerization kinetics of the ceramic suspensions has been elaborately discussed by rheology, curing depth and photo-DSC characterizations. The results indicated that the introduction of oligomer has improved the cross-linking density of resins and decreased the critical dose of energy for resin polymerization, which contributed to a tougher ceramic-resin slice with higher dimensional accuracy. Densifying processes including debinding and high temperature sintering of the ceramic parts were conducted according to the TG-DTA characterizations, alumina ceramics with uniform microstructures and eliminated delamination or intralaminar cracks were finally obtained. The flexural strength was 471 MPa for the ceramics obtained from the resin composition containing 20 wt% oligomer, Weibull modulus for the ceramics were determined to be 17.31 by evaluating thirty all sides polished ceramics, indicating the highly uniform property of the ceramics fabricated by DLP additive manufacturing.  相似文献

A high-performance piezoelectric nano-ceramic was fabricated through stereolithography of low viscosity and high solid loading ceramic/polymer composite suspensions. Through the proper fitting calculation of experimental data, the maximum theoretical solid loading, rheological and curing behaviors of the suspension system were evaluated and lucubrated. The suspensions with a 40 vol% solid loading of the BaTiO3 nanoparticles displayed shear thinning behavior and a relatively low viscosity of 232 mPa·s at 46.5 s−1 shear rate. After post-process, the 3D printed ceramic specimens showed a nanometer-level grain size with a density of 5.69 g/cm3, which corresponds to about 95% of the theoretical density. The printed ceramics exhibit a piezoelectric constant of 163 pC/N and relative permittivity of 2762 respectively. The results achieved in this research indicate that the stereolithography process is a promising 3D printing technology to fabricate piezoelectric materials with complex geometries and exquisite features for the applications of ceramic components.  相似文献

Stereolithography is a popular three-dimensional (3D) printing technology, which is widely used for manufacturing ceramic components owing to its high efficiency and precision. However, it is a big challenge to prepare SiC ceramic slurry with high solid content for stereolithography due to the strong light absorption and high refractive index of dark SiC powders. Here, we propose a novel strategy to develop photosensitive SiO2/SiC ceramic slurry with high solid content of 50–65 vol% by adding spherical silica with low light absorbance and applying a stacking flow model to improve the solid content of the slurry. The as-prepared slurry exhibits excellent stereolithography properties with a dynamic viscosity lower than 20 Pa s and curing thickness more than 120 μm. Therefore, it can be successfully applied for stereolithography-based additive manufacturing of SiC green bodies with large size (100 mm), sub-millimeter accuracy (0.2 mm), and complex structure. The stacking flow model also shows immense potential for the stereolithography of other dark-color ceramics with high solid content.  相似文献

To date, obtaining the high-solid-loading Al2O3 slurry and overcoming the trade-off between high solid loading and printing accuracy and strength of printed green bodies to achieve high-performance and precision Al2O3 ceramic parts by DLP 3D printing remain challenging. In this study, an Al2O3 slurry with high solid loading of 60 vol% was developed through dispersant optimisation for top-down DLP 3D printing. Graphene was innovatively introduced during slurry fabrication to decouple the printing accuracy and strength of green bodies from such high solid loading. Simultaneously, graphene addition could considerably reduce slurry fluidity, thereby facilitating its coordination with top-down DLP. With 0.07 wt% graphene addition, the dimension deviations of printed green bodies improved from 90 to 880 µm to ≤ 70 µm, and the bending strength increased by 17.75%. High-performance and precise Al2O3 ceramic components with low sintering shrinkages were prepared. The density and microhardness were 99.7% and 18.61 GPa, respectively.  相似文献

Ceramic cores are essential intermediate mediums in casting superalloy hollow turbine blades. The developing of additive manufacturing (AM) technology provides a new approach for the preparation of ceramic cores with complex structure. In this study, alumina oxide (Al2O3) ceramic cores with fine complex geometric shapes were fabricated by digital light processing (DLP) in high resolution. The maximum solid content of 70 vol% of ceramic slurry was adopted in the printing process, which is important for the regulation of deformations and mechanical properties. The effects of the printing parameters, including exposure intensity, printing layer thickness and sintering temperature on the microstructures and mechanical properties of printed samples were investigated. The decrease of residual stress and similar shrinkage in X, Y, and Z directions could be obtained by adjusting the printing parameters, which are crucial to prepare complex ceramic cores with high quality. Besides, the flexure strength and open porosity of ceramic cores reached 34.84 MPa and 26.94%, respectively, which were supposed to meet the requirement of ceramic cores for the fabrication of superalloy blades.  相似文献
