Space-time block coding (STBC) is a powerful transmit diversity scheme for multiple antenna systems. A closed-form expression for the Shannon capacity of MIMO systems is derived using STBC under independent and quasi-static flat Rayleigh fading channels. The Shannon capacity of STBC over such channels is expressed as a finite sum of functions that are easy to evaluate, thereby avoiding the need for numerical integration or Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

Diversity reception over generalized-K (KG) fading channels   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
A detailed performance analysis for the most important diversity receivers operating over a composite fading channel modeled by the generalized-K (Kg) distribution is presented. The Kg distribution has been recently considered as a generic and versatile distribution for the accurate modeling of a great variety of short term fading in conjunction with long term fading (shadowing) channel conditions. For this relatively new composite fading model, expressions for important statistical metrics of maximal ratio combining (MRC), equal gain combining (EGC), selection combining (SC) and switch and stay combining (SSC) diversity receivers are derived. Using these expressions and by considering independent but not necessarily identical distributed fading channel conditions, performance criteria, such as average output signal-to-noise ratio, amount of fading and outage probability are obtained in closed form. Moreover, following the moments generating function (MGF) based approach for MRC and SSC receivers, and the Pade approximants method for SC and EGC receivers, the average bit error probability is studied. The proposed mathematical analysis is complemented by various performance evaluation results which demonstrate the accuracy of the theoretical approach.  相似文献

We consider the problem of multiantenna reception of nonorthogonal multipulse signals in a multiuser system operating over a flat-flat Nakagami fading channel, wherein each user sends an M-ary information symbol by transmitting one out of M available waveforms. The receiver first-stage is a decorrelative filter, which gets rid of the MAI, and whose output, is then properly processed in order to decode the information symbols from the user of interest. In particular, we derive both the optimum noncoherent and the GLRT detectors, and show that the latter receiver not only is simpler to implement, but also achieves a performance level very similar to that of the former receiver  相似文献

Cascaded Rayleigh distribution is used to model multipath fading in mobile-to-mobile communication scenarios and provides a better fit to experimental data in such scenarios compared to the conventional Rayleigh channel model. In this letter, we derive an exact expression for the pairwise error probability (PEP) of space-time trellis codes over the cascaded Rayleigh fading channel, which is in the form of a simple single finite-range integral. Through the derived PEP expression, we present the maximum diversity order achievable over such channels and demonstrate the performance degradation in comparison to conventional Rayleigh channels. Monte-Carlo simulations are further demonstrated to confirm the analytical results.  相似文献

Approximate closed-form density and distribution functions for the capacity of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radio systems in spatially semi-correlated Rayleigh fading channels are derived. The approximations are given in terms of the Meijer G-function, hence allowing easy numerical evaluation of capacity outage probabilities with, for example, Maple or Mathematica.  相似文献

We consider a peak-power-limited single-antenna flat complex-Gaussian fading channel where the receiver and transmitter, while fully cognizant of the distribution of the fading process, have no knowledge of its realization. Upper and lower bounds on channel capacity are derived, with special emphasis on tightness in the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime. Necessary and sufficient conditions (in terms of the autocorrelation of the fading process) are derived for capacity to grow double-logarithmically in the SNR. For cases in which capacity increases logarithmically in the SNR, we provide an expression for the "pre-log", i.e., for the asymptotic ratio between channel capacity and the logarithm of the SNR. This ratio is given by the Lebesgue measure of the set of harmonics where the spectral density of the fading process is zero. We finally demonstrate that the asymptotic dependence of channel capacity on the SNR need not be limited to logarithmic or double-logarithmic behaviors. We exhibit power spectra for which capacity grows as a fractional power of the logarithm of the SNR  相似文献

A multichannel (MC) system with optimal diversity reception and erasures correcting decoding of a block code applied to a Rayleigh fading channel is considered. The bit-error rate (BER) as a function of the signal-to-noise ratio has been found. Switch-and-examine combining (SEC) is an interesting diversity technique that is simpler than selection combining (SC), whereas its performances is similar in terms of bit error rate (BER) and diversity order. As ergodic capacity is also a key performance index in modern wireless systems, this article analyzes the ergodic capacity of the SEC system. The numerical results show that the ergodic capacity of SEC with optimal threshold is similar to that of SC for arbitrary number of diversity branches.  相似文献

This paper analyzes the average bit error probability (BEP) of the differential binary and quaternary phase-shift keying (DBPSK and DQPSK respectively) with multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems employing postdetection equal gain combining (MIMO EGC) diversity reception over Rayleigh fading channels. Finite closed-form expressions for the average BEP of DBPSK and DQPSK are presented. Two approaches are introduced to analyze the error rate of DQPSK. The proposed structure for the differential phase-shift keying (DPSK) with MIMO EGC provides a reduced-complexity and low-cost receiver for MIMO systems compared to the coherent phase-shift keying system (PSK) with MIMO employing maximal ratio combining (MIMO MRC) diversity reception. Finally, a useful procedure for computing the associated Legendre functions of the second kind with half-odd-integer order and arbitrarily degree is presented.  相似文献

We analyze the error performance of an improved hybrid selection/maximal-ratio combining (H-S/MRC) technique called minimum selection H-S/MRC in flat Rayleigh fading for coherent digital modulation schemes. Here the minimum number of diversity branches are selected such that their combined signal-to-noise ratio is above a given threshold. We derive a closed-form expression for the distribution of the number of selected branches. This distribution is used to obtain the symbol error probability.  相似文献

A simple approximation for the symmetric capacity of Rayleigh fading channels with finite input alphabet and ideal channel state information is proposed in this letter. Exact average symbol error probability (SEP) of the general order rectangular quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) with maximal ratio combining (MRC) diversity over L independent and identically distributed Nakagami-m fading channels with arbitrary fading index m is derived in this letter. The average SEP expression is given in terms of the Appell and Gauss hypergeometric functions and is then used to study the impact of diversity reception on the performance of general order rectangular QAM with different values of the quadrature-to-in-phase decision distance ratio. In this paper, using an accurate exponential based approximation on the Gaussian Q function, the simplified novel approximations to the average of some useful forms of Gaussian Q functions, with maximal-ratio combining (MRC) diversity reception, over independent but not necessarily identical Nakagami-q (Hoyt) and Rician fading channels are proposed. The results proved to be useful in accurate estimation of the symbol error probability (SEP) for various digital modulation schemes like cross-QAM, triangular-QAM (TQAM), rectangular-QAM and square-QAM (SQAM), over the same fading statistics. Asymptotic expressions of the proposed approximations are also derived in this paper. Various simulation results are provided to verify the accuracy and significance of the proposed work.  相似文献

Minimum duration outages have been introduced for lognormal shadow fading where the durations of signal fades were considered in evaluating outages. We develop and analyze such minimum duration outages for channels susceptible to Rayleigh fading. A novel FH/MFSK receiver is proposed which utilises the side information of interfering signals for asynchronous frequency hopping multiple-access (FHMA) systems in the presence of Rayleigh fading. An explicit formula for the ergodic capacity of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)-based Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems under correlated frequency selective Rayleigh channels is derived,by simplifying the channel response matrix in frequency domain into the so-called Kronecker model composed of three kinds of correlations,i.e.multipath tap gain correlation and spatial fading correlations at both transmitter and receiver.The derived formula is very simple and convenient for one to estimate the effects of all three kinds of correlations on MIMO-OFDM capacity.If taps are independent,there is a very simple expression for the ergodic capacity.In case of tap correlation,the capacity formula could be further given in an integral expression.The validity of the new formula is verified and the effects of correlations,delay spread as well as the number of subcarriers on the ergodic capacity are evaluated via Monte Carlo simulations.  相似文献

This paper investigates a transform that provides diversity to words of symbols transmitted over fading channels. This diversity transform (DRT) does not alter the distance between the input words nor the bandwidth or the information rate. The transform is based on an orthonormal transform and thus increases the channel alphabet. A considerable diversity gain is achieved over Rayleigh fading channel with perfect channel state information (CSI) and interleaving. The transform performances are evaluated both analytically and by simulation, and optimal transforms are determined for specific channels. Finally, a simple nonoptimal decoding scheme is developed, which provides a powerful and practical technique to transfer information over fading channels with or without coding  相似文献
