Fabrication of Ni4Nb2O9 ceramics via a reaction-sintering process was investigated. A mixture of raw materials was sintered into ceramics by bypassing calcination and subsequent pulverization stages. Ni4Nb2O9 phase appeared at 1300 °C and increased with increasing soak time. Ni4Nb2O9 content was found >96% in 1350 °C/2 h sintering pellets. A density of 5.71 g/cm3 was obtained for pellets sintered at 1350 °C for 2 h. This reaches 96.5% of the theoretical density. As the sintering temperature increased to 1350 °C, an abnormal grain growth occurred and grains >100 μm could be found. ?r of 15.4–16.9 are found in pellets sintered at 1200–1300 °C. Q × f increased from 9380 GHz in pellets sintered at 1200 °C to 14,650 GHz in pellets sintered at 1250 °C.  相似文献

Microporous alumina membrane substrate in tubular and planar configurations have been prepared by gelcasting of alumina powder slurry using high amount of urea–formaldehyde as gelling agent followed by humidity controlled drying, binder removal and sintering of the gelled bodies. Porosity of the substrate samples sintered at 1350 °C was more than 70% as measured by mercury porosimeter. More than 51% porosity could be retained even after sintering of the samples at 1450 °C. Average pores size of the membrane substrate samples sintered at temperature in the range from 1250 to 1550 °C varied between 0.42 and 0.56 with a maximum at 1350 °C. More uniform pores were observed in sample sintered at 1450 °C. Urea-formaldehyde polymer present in the gelcast body acts as template for micropores.  相似文献

Si3N4–TiN composites were successfully fabricated via planetary ball milling of 70 mass% Si3N4 and 30 mass% Ti powders, followed by spark plasma sintering (SPS) at 1250–1350 °C. The sintering mechanism for SPS was a hybrid of dissolution–reprecipitation and viscous flow. The electrical resistivity decreased with increasing sintering temperature up to a minimum at 1250 °C and then increased with the increasing sintering temperature. The composites prepared by SPS at 1250–1350 °C could be easily machined by electrical discharge machining. Composite prepared by SPS at 1300 °C showed a high hardness (17.78 GPa) and a good machinability.  相似文献

Nickel oxide and samaria-doped ceria based anode material (NiO–SDC) for high temperature ceramic fuel cells was synthesized via an innovative, simplified method using the reaction of metal acetates and ethylene glycol. Ni content in the final product was 55 vol% while the Ce:Sm molar ratio in the SDC (45 vol%) was 80:20. The influences of preparation conditions including the calcination temperature and morphology characteristics of the prepared powders as well as the influence of the sintering temperature on the final microstructure of sintered bodies were investigated with EGA, BET, XRD, a heating microscope and FE-SEM. After calcination at 500 °C, the one-step synthesis gave powdered products with the specific surface area of 72.5 m2 g−1. The optimal sintering temperature that ensured relatively high sintered densities and excellent contact between grains was found at 1250 °C. After sintering at 1250 °C, the prepared bi-layer system electrolyte/anode showed the highest contiguity, excellent contact between phases and proper porosity (31.2%) confirmed from SEM micrographs.  相似文献

Fe2O3 powders were introduced as sintering aid to fabricate yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) hollow fiber membranes using a combined wet-spinning and post-sintering method. The obtained Fe2O3-YSZ hollow fiber membranes show enhanced performance for water treatment with fine crystal structure in terms of bending strength and pure water permeability. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) along with mechanical tests were employed to investigate the structural evolution in the sintering process and the effect of Fe2O3. It is suggested that the Fe2O3 dopants dissolve into YSZ at elevated temperatures, providing defect sites and vacancies for fast ion migration, favoring for densification and grain growth of the YSZ, which yields dense microstructures of fine crystallites at relatively low sintering temperature. The Fe2O3-YSZ hollow fiber membranes sintered at 1150 °C show a 3-fold increase of the permeate flux of pure water (F) (743 L m−2 h−1) along with comparable bending strength (152 MPa) compared to pure YSZ membranes. This modified method can reduce sintering costs and therefore fabrication costs which should pave the way for scale-up production for ceramic hollow fiber membranes.  相似文献

La0.9Sr0.1Ga0.8Mg0.2O3−δ solid electrolytes were consolidated by fast firing aiming to investigate the effects of the sintering method on densification, microstructure and ionic conductivity. Powder mixtures were prepared by solid state reaction at 1250 and 1350 °C for 12 h, and fast fired at 1450 and 1500 °C temperatures for 5 and 10 min. The content of impurity phases was found to be quite low with this sintering method. Relatively high density (>90% of the theoretical value) and low porosity (<1.5%) were readily obtained for powder mixtures calcined at 1250 °C. The activation energy for conduction was approximately 1 eV. Specimens fast fired at 1450 °C for 10 min with a mean grain size of 2.26 µm reached the highest value of total ionic conductivity, 22 mS cm−1, at 600 °C.  相似文献

Asymmetric niobium pentoxide (Nb2O5) hollow fiber membranes were prepared by the phase inversion and sintering process at temperatures ranging from 1000 to 1350°C. The effects of extrusion parameters on the morphology and properties of the produced membranes were systematically explored. Asymmetric hollow fibers with regular inner contour were obtained at extrusion flow rates of 15 and 25 ml min−1 of ceramic suspension and internal coagulant, respectively. Hollow fibers sintered at temperatures greater than 1200°C presented modifications in the morphology of Nb2O5 grains, which were also evidenced by X-ray diffraction and Raman analyses. Hollow fibers produced with an air gap of 50 mm presented a dense outer sponge-like layer and micro-voids formed from the inner surface. These hollow fibers sintered at 1200°C presented suitable bending resistance and water permeability (24.2 ± 0.60 MPa and 3.00 ± 0.01 L h-1 m-2 kPa-1, respectively). The outer sponge like layer was mitigated when the fibers were produced without air-gap.  相似文献

This study investigated the effect of sintering temperature on the microstructure and mechanical properties of dental zirconia-toughened alumina (ZTA) machinable ceramics. Six groups of gelcast ZTA ceramic samples sintered at temperatures between 1100 °C and 1450 °C were prepared. The microstructure was investigated by mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. The mechanical properties were characterized by flexural strength, fracture toughness, Vickers hardness, and machinability. Overall, with increasing temperature, the relative density, flexural strength, fracture toughness, and Vickers hardness values increased and more tetragonal ZrO2 transformed into monoclinic ZrO2; on the other hand, the porosity and pore size decreased. Significantly lower brittleness indexes were observed in groups sintered below 1300 °C, and the lowest values were observed at 1200 °C. The highest flexural strength and fracture toughness of ceramics reached 348.27 MPa and 5.23 MPa m1/2 when sintered at 1450 °C, respectively. By considering the various properties of gelcast ZTA that varied with the sintering temperature, the optimal temperature for excellent machinability was determined to be approximately 1200–1250 °C, and in this range, a low brittleness index and moderate strength of 0.74–1.19 µm−1/2 and 46.89–120.15 MPa, respectively, were realized.  相似文献

Heterogeneous ceramics made of cordierite (55–56 wt%), mullite (22–33 wt%) and alumina (23–11 wt%) were prepared by sintering non-standard raw materials containing corundum, talc, α-quartz, K-feldspar, kaolinite and mullite with small amounts of calcite, cristobalite and glass phases. The green specimens prepared by PVA assisted dry-pressing were sintered within the temperature range of 950–1500 °C for different dwelling times (2–8 h). The effects of sintering schedule on crystalline phase assemblage and thermomechanical properties were investigated. The sintered ceramics exhibited low coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) (3.2–4.2×10−6 °C−1), high flexural strength (90−120 MPa and high Young modulus (100 GPa). The specimens sintered at 1250 °C exhibited the best thermal shock resistance (∆T~350 °C). The thermal expansion coefficients and thermal shock resistance were studied using Schapery model, the modelling results implying the occurrence of non-negligible mechanical interactions between the phases in bulk. The dielectric properties characterized from room to high temperature (RT– HT, up to 600 °C) revealed: (i) noticeable effects of sintering schedule on dielectric constant (5–10) and dielectric loss factor (~0.02–0.04); (ii) stable dielectric properties until the failure of the electrode material. The thermomechanical properties coupled with desirable dielectric properties make the materials suitable for high density integrated circuitry or high temperature low-dielectric materials engineering.  相似文献

Nickel oxide and Yttria-stabilized zirconia (NiO/YSZ) composite is one of the most promising mixed conducting electrode materials in both solid oxide electrolysis cell and solid oxide fuel cell applications. In this study, 50 wt% NiO and 50 wt% YSZ composite was synthesized via a modified glycine-nitrate combustion process (GNP) and the effect of sintering temperatures (1100 °C, 1300 °C and 1500 °C) on its microstructure and electrical properties were investigated. TG/DTA and in-situ high temperature XRD revealed the thermal property behavior and the structural changes of the as-combusted precursor material. For all the samples sintered at different temperatures, room temperature XRD patterns revealed a distinct cubic phases of both YSZ and NiO while SEM images showed a porous microstructure. The total conductivities at 700 °C are 9.87 × 10−3, 5.26 × 10−3, 4.02 × 10−3 S/cm for the 1100, 1300, and 1500 °C with activation energies of 0.1722, 0.3555, and 0.3768 eV, respectively. Conductivity measurements of the different sintered samples revealed that the total conductivities as well as the activation energies are greatly affected by different sintering temperatures.  相似文献

Varistors based on SnO2 have attracted increasing interest in recent years. However, the combined effect of CoO–MnO on SnO2 ceramics is still unclear. In this study, the non-Ohmic behaviour of the 98.95 mol%SnO2–0.5 mol%CoO–0.5 mol%MnO–0.05 mol%Nb2O5 system, the microstructures and the influence of sintering temperature were investigated. The samples were prepared by the mixed oxide route, and were sintered at temperatures in the range 1250–1450 °C. SEM observation and EDS analysis revealed that the ceramics have a two-phase microstructure comprising SnO2 primary grains and a Mn, Co rich secondary phase of small particles. The sintered density of the samples increased with the increase in sintering temperature. The maximum non-linear coefficient (α = 10) was obtained at a sintering temperature of 1350 °C.  相似文献

In this work, BaCe0.8Y0.2O3−α (BCY) perovskite hollow fibre membranes were fabricated by a phase inversion and sintering method. BCY powder was prepared by the sol–gel technique using ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and citric acid as the complexing agents. Gel calcination was carried out at high temperature to form the desired crystal structure. The qualified BCY hollow fibre membranes could not be achieved even the sintering was carried out at temperatures up to 1550oC due to the poor densification behavior of the BCY material. The addition of sintering aid (1 wt% Co2O3) inside BCY powder as the membrane starting material significantly improved the densification process, leading to the formation of gas-tight BCY hollow fibres. The optimum sintering temperature of BCY hollow fibre membrane was 1400 °C to achieve the best mechanical strength. H2 permeation through the BCY hollow fibre membranes was carried out between 700 and 1050 °C using 25% H2–He mixture as feed gas and N2 as sweep gas, respectively. For comparison purpose, the disk-shaped BCY membrane with a thickness of 1 mm was also prepared. The measured H2 permeation flux through the BCY hollow fibres reached up to 0.38 mL cm−2 min−1 at 1050 °C strikingly contrasting to the low values of less than 0.01 mL cm−2 min−1 from the disk-shaped membrane. After the permeation test, the microstructure of BCY hollow fibre membrane was still maintained well without signals of membrane disintegration or peeling off.  相似文献

In this work NiO/3 mol% Y2O3–ZrO2 (3YSZ) and NiO/8 mol% Y2O3–ZrO2 (8YSZ) hollow fibers were prepared by phase-inversion. The effect of different kinds of YSZ (3YSZ and 8YSZ) on the porosity, electrical conductivity, shrinkage and flexural strength of the hollow fibers were systematically evaluated. When compared with Ni–8YSZ the porosity and shrinkage of Ni–3YSZ hollow fibers increases while the electrical conductivity decreases, while at the same time also exhibiting enhanced flexural strength. Single cells with Ni–3YSZ and Ni–8YSZ hollow fibers as the supported anode were successfully fabricated showing maximum power densities of 0.53 and 0.67 W cm−2 at 800 °C, respectively. Furthermore, in order to improve the cell performance, a Ni–8YSZ anode functional layer was added between the electrolyte and Ni–YSZ hollow fiber. Here enhanced peak power densities of 0.79 and 0.73 W cm−2 were achieved at 800 °C for single cells with Ni–3YSZ and Ni–8YSZ hollow fibers, respectively.  相似文献

Ceramic hollow spheres were produced by a sacrificial template technique with subsequent sintering under temperatures ranging from 1100 °C to 1250 °C. The effect of the sintering temperature on the structure of the ceramic hollow spheres was investigated by optical and scanning electron microscopy, and a gas adsorption method. The results show that the structure of the ceramic hollow spheres can be controlled, with the retention of the hollow spherical shape, by variation of the sintering temperature. Increase of the sintering temperature from 1100 °C to 1250 °C decreased the outer diameter of the ceramic hollow spheres by 14 percent, the shell thickness by 18 percent, and the void area ratio of the shell surface by 9.2 times; both of the specific surface area and the total pore volume of ceramic hollow spheres decreased by 60 percent.  相似文献

Two-step sintering (TSS) was applied to control the grain growth during sintering of a novel calcium magnesium silicate (Ca3MgSi2O8 – Merwinite) bioceramic. Sol–gel derived nanopowders with the mean particle size of about 90 nm were sintered under different TSS regimes to investigate the effect of sintering parameters on densification behavior and grain growth suppression. Results showed that sintering of merwinite nanopowder under optimum TSS condition (T1 = 1300 °C, T2 = 1250 °C) yielded fully dense bodies with finest microstructure. Merwinite compacts held at T2 = 1250 °C for 20 h had the average grain size of 633 nm while the relative density of about 98% was achieved. Mechanical testing was performed to investigate the effect of grain growth suppression on the hardness and fracture toughness. Comparison of mechanical data for samples sintered under two sintering regimes, including TSS and normal sintering (NS), showed TSS process resulted in significant enhancement of fracture toughness from 1.77 to 2.68 MPa m1/2.  相似文献

The sintering behaviour of a cation-deficient perovskite, Ba5Nb4O15, is investigated in the present study. The highest density can be achieved through pressureless sintering at 1250 °C is only 93%. A further increase in sintering temperature results in a decrease in density; for example, the density is only 82% after sintering at 1435 °C. The density decrease, de-sintering, can be related to the formation of abnormal grains ( > 1250 °C) and the reduction of niobium ions ( > 1400 °C). The permittivity of sintered Ba5Nb4O15 specimen shows strong dependence on density; however, the quality factor (Qxf) increases to 45,000 with the increase of sintering temperature. The increase in quality factor is attributed to the ordering of cations in the perovskite structure.  相似文献

The effect of conventional sintering from 1300 to 1550 °C on the properties of 1 mol% ceria-doped scandia stabilized zirconia was investigated. In addition, the influence of rapid sintering via microwave technique at low temperature regimes of 1300 °C and 1350 °C for 15 min on the properties of this zirconia was evaluated. It was found that both sintering methods yielded highly dense samples with minimum relative density of 97.5%. Phase analysis by X-ray diffraction revealed the presences of only cubic phase in all sintered samples. All sintered pellets possessed high Vickers hardness (13–14.6 GPa) and fracture toughness (~3 MPam1/2). Microstructural examination by using the scanning electron microscope revealed that the grain size varied from 2.9 to 9.8 µm for the conventional-sintered samples. In comparison, the grain size of the microwave-sintered zirconia was maintained below 2 µm. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy study showed that both the bulk and grain boundary resistivity of the zirconia decreases with increasing test temperature regardless of sintering methods. However, the grain boundary resistivity of the microwave-sintered samples was higher than the conventional-sintered ceramic at 600 °C and reduced significantly at 800 °C thus resulting in the enhancement of electrical conduction.  相似文献

In this paper, we have reported the signature of multiferroicity and pyroelectricity in BaFe12O19 hexaferrite close to room temperature. The BaFe12O19 hexaferrite samples are synthesized by co-precipitation method at different sintering temperature ranging from 800 to 1200 °C and study their structural, ferroelectric, magnetic, magnetoelectric and pyroelectric properties. X-ray Diffraction patterns show the pure phase formation for all samples. Morphological changes are examined through the scanning electron microscope. The maximum ferroelectric polarization (0.66 μC/cm2) is observed for the sample sintered at 1200 °C, however maximum magnetic polarization 74 emu/g is observed for sample sintered at 1000 °C. Magneto-electric coupling measurements are also performed through dynamic method and average magneto-electric coupling coefficient (~ 7.05 × 10−7 mV/cm Oe2) is observed at room temperature for the sample sintered at 1200 °C. Furthermore, maximum pyroelectric constant (147 × 10−13C/cm2 °C) is observed at 75 °C for BaFe12O19 samples sintered at 1200 °C. The observation of both multiferroicity and pyroelectricity close to room temperature in BaFe12O19 hexaferrite is interesting and useful for multifunctional devices.  相似文献

SnO2 green pellets were submitted to ac electric fields at temperatures below 1350 °C. Electric current pulses occurred and a substantial modification was found in the microstructure of the pellets after application of 80 V cm−1 at 900, 1100 and 1300 °C. Similar experiments were carried out in SnO2 mixed to 2 wt.% MnO2. The linear shrinkage of the pellets was monitored with a dilatometer during the application of the electric field. Scanning electron microscopy micrographs of the pellets show the grain structure evolution after the electric current pulses. The larger is the electric current flow through the SnO2 pellet, the larger are the shrinkage and the average grain size. Even though sintering occurs without significant densification in SnO2, the welding of the grains is evident. The apparent density of green pellets of SnO2 with MnO2 addition sintered at 1100 °C increased 110% with the application of 80 V cm−1, 5 A.  相似文献

BaCe0.95Tb0.05O3?α (BCTb) perovskite hollow fibre membranes were fabricated by spinning the slurry mixture containing 66.67 wt% BCTb powder, 6.67 wt% polyethersulphone (PESf) and 26.67 wt% N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) followed by sintering at elevated temperatures. The influence of sintering temperature on the membrane properties was investigated in terms of crystal phase, morphology, porosity and mechanical strength. In order to obtain gas-tight hollow fibres with sufficient mechanical strength, the sintering temperature should be controlled between 1350 and 1450 °C. Hydrogen permeation through the BCTb hollow fibre membranes was carried out between 700 and 1000 °C using 50% H2–He mixture as feed on the shell side and N2 as sweep gas in the fibre lumen. The measured hydrogen permeation flux through the BCTb hollow fibre membranes reached up to 0.422 μmol cm?2 s?1 at 1000 °C when the flow rates of the H2–He feed and the nitrogen sweep were 40 mL min?1 and 30 mL min?1, respectively.  相似文献
