Summary The similarity solutions for free convection on a vertical plate when the (non-dimensional) plate temperature is x and when the (non-dimensional) surface heat flux is –x are considered. Solutions valid for 1 and 1 are obtained. Further, for the first problem it is shown that there is a value 0, dependent on the Prandtl number, such that solutions of the similarity equations are possible only for >0, and for the second problem that solutions are possible only for >–1 (for all Prandtl numbers). In both cases the solutions becomes singular as 0 and as –1, and the natures of these singularities are discussed.  相似文献

The athermal transformation in Zr-2 at.% Nb alloy has been investigated by transmission electron microscopy. Analysis of the selected-area diffraction pattern has shown that the orientation relationships between the omega and the parent-phase in quenched Zr-2 at.% Nb alloy are the same as have been previously observed for the reaction in pure zirconium. Thus it was deduced that the direct transition has taken place in the alloy during cooling. The-originated -particles were visualized using the dark-field technique. The formation of the athermal omega in the-region of-stabilized Zr-Nb alloy is discussed in terms of the relative positions of the free energy equilibrium curvesT 0 ,T 0 ,T 0 and the correspondingM s ,M s andT s start curves. It is concluded that the omega phase can occur over a much wider range of alloy compositions than is usually recognized on the basis of transformation data.  相似文献

The formation of spatio-temporal stable patterns is considered for a reaction-diffusion-convection system based upon the cubic autocatalator, A + 2B 3B, B C, with the reactant A being replenished by the slow decay of some precursor P via the simple step P A. The reaction is considered in a differential-flow reactor in the form of a ring. It is assumed that the reactant A is immobilised within the reactor and the autocatalyst B is allowed to flow through the reactor with a constant velocity as well as being able to diffuse. The linear stability of the spatially uniform steady state (a, b) = (µ–1, µ), where a and b are the dimensionless concentrations of the reactant A and autocatalyst B, and µ is a parameter reflecting the initial concentration of the precursor P, is discussed first. It is shown that a necessary condition for the bifurcation of this steady state to stable, spatially non-uniform, flow-generated patterns is that the flow parameter > c(µ, ) where c(µ,) is a (strictly positive) critical value of and is the dimensionless diffusion coefficient of the species B and also reflects the size of the system. Values of c at which these bifurcations occur are derived in terms of µ and . Further information about the nature of the bifurcating branches (close to their bifurcation points) is obtained from a weakly nonlinear analysis. This reveals that both supercritical and subcritical Hopf bifurcations are possible. The bifurcating branches are then followed numerically by means of a path-following method, with the parameter as a bifurcation parameter, for representatives values of µ and . It is found that multiple stable patterns can exist and that it is also possible that any of these can lose stability through secondary Hopf bifurcations. This typically gives rise to spatio-temporal quasiperiodic transients through which the system is ultimately attracted to one of the remaining available stable patterns.  相似文献

Conclusions A field-effect triode amplifier with series negative current feedback allows a voltage gain of the order of 200–300 to be obtained for a load resistance Rs1 M. The coefficient Ku begins to decrease noticeably only for a feedback resistance above 500 .The current gain reaches (8–10)·103. Increasing the resistances Rs and RL to hundreds of ohms has practically no effect on Ki. For a further increase of Rs and RL the coefficient Ki decreases.The power gain reaches its maximum value (of the order of 104 or more) for Rs100 and RL=10–100 k. An increase in Rs leads to a reduction of Kpmax and to a shift of the extremum of the function Kp=f(RL) into the range of higher values of RL.A large input resistance of the amplifier (tens of megohms and higher) is obtained when Rs increases to 10–100 M. The maximum input resistance is obtained for RL and Rs and may exceed values of from hundreds of megohms to several gigaohms. The minimum input resistance is hundreds of kilohms for RL and Rs0.The minimum input resistance (5–10 k or less) is ensured for Rg and RL0. The paramagnetic-antiferromagnetic transition and the martensitic transformation of Fe-Mn (Mn 15–32 wt%) alloys have been investigated by resistivity, dilatometry and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results show that paramagnetic-antiferromagnetic transition increases the resistivity and the volume of alloys, whereas the martensitic transformation reduces the resistivity and volume of alloys. The A f that was determined by the dilatometric method is not the temperature that martensites in the Fe-Mn alloys have reverse transformed to austenites completely. Mn additions reduce M s, increase T N and the lattice parameter of austenite in the Fe-Mn alloys. Both the antiferromagnetic transition and the martensitic transformation lead to an increase in the lattice parameter of austenite. The lattice parameters both above T N and below T N decrease linearly with temperature. The lattice parameter below M s increases first and then decreases. Moreover, the (110) and (002) atomic planes in the Fe-15Mn-0.15C alloy are separated into two peaks: 2 for (002) is 44.16°, 2 for (110) is 44.47°.  相似文献

Longitudinal and shear wave ultrasonic attenuations have been measured in high-purity Pb on two single crystals obtained from the same ingot. The measurements were done at low temperatures, at different frequencies, and in transverse magnetic fields, up to a field of 7.3 kG. The propagation directions in the two crystals were along [100] and [110]. For some propagation and polarization directions the s / n ratio is found to be frequency-independent, while for others, large divergences in the s / n ratios at different frequencies are observed. A sharp decrease of s / n nearT c is observed for a particular longitudinal wave propagation, but not in any shear wave propagation. In some cases s / n is found to be abnormally high and this feature is associated with a peak in attenuation n and a relatively high n at 7.2 K. None of the s / n curves fits closely to any BCS energy gap. For longitudinal waves the high magnetic field (H) dependence of the normal state attenuation was found to agree qualitatively with the free electron theory for propagation along [100], but not for propagation along [110]. For shear waves the high-field attenuations do not extrapolate to zero asH tends to infinity. For all propagation and polarization directions the high-field attenuations show 1/H 2 field dependence.  相似文献

Microstructure and ageing characteristics of a cast Zn-Al based alloy (ZnAl7Cu3) were studied using X-ray diffraction, electron scanning microscopy and back-scattered diffraction techniques. Two stages of phase transformation, i.e., decomposition of zinc rich phase and four phase transformation, + T + , were detected during ageing at 150°C. Electron back-scattered diffraction technique was applied in distinguishing both zinc rich and phases.  相似文献

A complex model is compared with the Murphree and Hausen models for the cases of concurrent and cross motion of vapor and liquid phases. Use is made of results of experimental studies involving separation of an acetic acidwater mixture and industrial data on rectification of furfurol and ethanol. It is proved that the efficiencies in the complex and Murphree models coincide as the coefficient of phase equilibrium m approaches unity but when this coefficient increases, the first model and the Hausen model coincide. The possibility of using the Murphree model at m 1 and the Hausen model at m is shown.  相似文献

The quasiparticle spectra and the densities of states of superconducting-normal-superconducting junctions are computed from the WKBJ transformed Bogoliubov-de Gennes Equations (BdGE), which are solved by Picard iteration and numerical integration. It is shown that the influence of the proximity effect on the bound states can be modeled by a rectangular pair potential well of effective normal layer thickness 2a*= –L L [1–(z)/]dz, where (z) is the pair potential of the junction, is its asymptotic constant value, and 2L is the total length of the sample. The density of states exhibits a subgap peak at energies less than besides the BCS peak atE=; forE> there are geometrical resonances which are due to electron-hole interferences in finiteS layers of thicknessL-a*.  相似文献

The transformation Li3PO4 shows characteristics of both continuous and martensitic transformations. Below 340° C, no detectable transformation occurs; between 340 and 410° C, the transformation goes only partially to completion; above 410° C the transformation rapidly goes to completion. At any temperature in the range 340 to 410° C, transformation proceeds rapidly in the initial stages to attain a certain degree of transformation. With prolonged isothermal heating or grinding of the samples, further transformation does not occur. The reverse transformation could not be effected under normal, dry conditions.  相似文献

A comprehensive analytical theory is presented for non-hysteretic RF SQUIDs operating in the adiabatic mode in the presence of large thermal fluctuations. When 1 ( = 2LIc/0 is the hysteresis parameter, L is the SQUID inductance, Ic is the critical current of the Josephson junction, and 0 is the flux quantum) the theory is applicable also for RF SQUIDs operating in the non-adiabatic mode. In contrast to previous theories in which the noise is treated perturbatively and which therefore are applicable only if the product 1 ( = 2kBT/ 0 Ic is the noise parameter, kB is the Boltzmann constant, and T is the absolute temperature)—the case of small thermal fluctuations—the present theory is valid for around unity or higher. In the limit 0 the theory reproduces the results of small thermal fluctuations theories. It has been found that in the presence of large thermal fluctuations the screening current in the SQUID inductance is suppressed by a factor that increases with increasing . Taking into account this new basic fact, all SQUID characteristics (output signal, transfer function, noise spectral density and energy sensitivity) have been recalculated and a good agreement with experimental data has been obtained. It has been also found that RF SQUIDs can be operated with substantially higher values of the inductance and of the noise parameter than DC SQUIDs. These two aspects, which are of particular importance at liquid nitrogen temperature, make high Tc RF SQUIDs very attractive.  相似文献

The viscous fluid motion generated by axisymmetric stagnation-point flow of strain rate a impinging on a flat plate oscillating in its own plane with velocity amplitude U0 and frequency , including uniform suction of strength W0 is considered. A coordinate decomposition transforms the full Navier-Stokes equations into a primary equation describing the steady flow and a secondary equation describing the unsteady motion coupled to the primary solution. The solution to the boundary-value problem is governed by two dimensionless groups: the suction parameter S = W0 a and the frequency parameter = /a, where is the kinematic viscosity. Numerical integrations performed with a Runge-Kutta routine provide an exact solution to the Navier-Stokes equations. Values of the steady shear stress are found to agree with asymptotic results for large values of |S|, with S>0 representing suction and S<0 representing blowing. The magnitude and phase of the unsteady shear stress are given over a range of frequencies sufficient to recover analytical asymptotic results at large values of . The unsteady shear stress lags the wall motion by radians for 0 and by 5/4 radians when . Velocity profiles at selected parameter values during a period of plate oscillation are presented and discussed.  相似文献

Measurements of the thermal conductivity are reported for an 80%3He-20%4He mixture above the critical point along several isotherms and near-critical isochores, using the same techniques and apparatus described for a study of3He. Using again the assumption that the observed conductivity can be decomposed into a sum of a regular and a singular contribution reg and sing, it is shown that along two near-critical isochores, sing diverges. In particular, along the isochore showing the largest at the phase transition, the divergence is nearly the same as for3He and can be roughly characterized by a simple power law (T-Tc) with 0.58. This observation is contrary to predictions that foresee sing0 asT c is approached. The relaxation times characterizing the attainment of steady state conditions after switching the heat flux on and off show a similar behaviour as a function of reduced temperature as do those for pure3He. This result might indicate a substantial coupling between concentration and entropy diffusion. The washboard frequency of the moving vortex lattice in untwinned YBa2 Cu3 O6.93 may be observed through mode-locking to an externally applied ac current of frequency ext. The interference between and ext results in jumps in the dc current-voltage characteristics when and ext are harmonically related1. The interference effect disappears in the vortex liquid state. The Hall conductivity xy below Tc in YBCO contains contributions2 from a positive quasiparticle (qp) term (H) and a negative vortex term (1/H). The qp term is surprisingly large well below Tc and implies a large gap anisotropy and a long qp mean free path (mfp). The thermal Hall effect3 xy is closely related to the qp xy; xy is produced by asymmetric scattering of qp by pinned vortices. The qp mfp at H = 0, extracted from xy and extended to low T by xy, increases remarkably from 90 Å at Tc to more than 0.5m at 22 K.  相似文献

The results are presented from an experimental study of the gapless state produced in semiconducting alloysBi 1–x Sb x by pressure-induced band inversion. The magnetoresistance properties of the alloys have been investigated both in weak magnetic fields (H « 1) and in strong fields (H75 kOe) at liquidhelium temperatures in the Sb concentration interval 0.06x0.15 and pressure interval 1 bar p<20 kbar. At pressuresp close to the pressurep k at which the gapless state is realized a semiconductor-semimetal-semiconductor transition is detected inBi 1–x Sb x alloys withx=0.070 and 0.071. The rates of change of the gap gL before and after inversion are determined: –(2.5±0.5)×10–6 eV/bar and (1.5±0.5)×10–6 eV/bar, respectively. A reduction in the carrier effective mass as gL 0 is observed down to values of 10–4 m 0. It is shown that as gL 0 the carrier mobilities in the alloys increase abruptly, the effect being a maximum in the purest alloys, where forT=4.2 K the mobility along the binary axis attains the record-high value of 3×108 cm2/V · sec.  相似文献

Two R--sialon (R0.6Si9.3Al2.7O0.9N15.1, R=Nd and Er) compositions were first fired at 1750°C/25 min and 1650°C/2 h respectively for completion of the phase transformation. Elongated -sialon grain morphology was developed in both samples after being re-fired at 1800°C for different periods of time. The growth in width of R--sialon grains is controlled by diffusion in the liquid, while the length growth tends to be interfacial reaction controlled. The anisotropic growth of R--sialon is attributed to the large difference in the growth rate constant between the length and the width directions of the grain.  相似文献

The microstructural characteristics of AI-Cu-Li-Mg-Zr alloys have been studied after rapid solidification by melt spinning and after subsequent annealing at temperatures in the range 160 to 500°C, by using a combination of optical microscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry and microhardness measurements. The as-melt-spun alloys consist of a cellular microstructure with fine scale precipitates and icosahedral particles distributed within the cells and at cell boundaries. The icosahedral structure is equivalent to the T2 phase reported by Hardy and Silcock. Annealing the melt-spun alloys leads to a complex precipitation sequence: + I + + I + S + + I + + T1 + T2 (bcc) + two other phases. The icosahedral particles coarsen progressively during annealing, especially at higher annealing temperatures. Fine-scale precipitates grow during annealing at low temperature, dissolve at higher annealing temperatures below 500°C, and then reprecipitate during cooling after annealing at 500°C. During annealing at low temperature, plates of and S precipitate and then dissolve, providing solute atoms for icosahedral particle growth. Stable T1, T2 (bcc) and two other phases precipitate after decomposition of the icosahedral particles during annealing at 500°C.  相似文献

We present the expressions of the generalized Ginzburg-Landau (GL) theory for the free energy and the supercurrent in terms of thed vector, the magnetic fieldH, and operators containing the spatial gradient and the rotation. These expressions are then specialized to the Anderson-Brinkman-Morel (ABM) state. We consider eight single-vortex lines of cylindrical symmetry and radiusR=[2m/]–1/2: the Mermin-Ho vortex, a second analytic vortex, and six singular vortices, i.e., the orbital and radial disgyrations, the orbital and radial phase vortices, and two axial phase vortices. These eight vortex states are determined by solving the Euler-Lagrange equations whose solutions minimize the GL free energy functional. For increasing field, the core radius of the texture of the Mermin-Ho vortex tends to a limiting value, while the core radius of the texture goes to zero. The gap of the singular vortices behaves liker forr 0, where ranges between and . The energy of the radial disgyration becomes lower than that of the Mermin-Ho vortex for fieldsH6.5H*=6.5×25 G (atT=0.99T c and forR=10L*=60 µm, or=2.9 rad/sec). ForR 2 T ( T is the GL coherence length) or c2 (upper critical rotation speed), the energies of the singular vortices become lower than the energies of the analytic vortices. This is in agreement with the exact result of Schopohl for a vortex lattice at c 2. Finally, we calculate the correction of order (1 -T/T c ) to the GL gap for the axial phase vortex.  相似文献

The Boltzmann equation for Landau quasiparticles is solved for T 0 by a specialization of a method discussed by Sykes and Brooker. The quasiparticle distribution function is expanded in Legendre polynomials, assuming a boundary condition which imposes axial symmetry, and even-order terms are assumed to relax together with relaxation time e , odd-order terms with relaxation time o . By letting wavelength , with finite, one obtains a first-sound solution, and by lettingT 0, and then , one obtains a zero-sound solution. When these solutions are used to calculate the pressure, it is found that the first-sound solution is consistent with hydrodynamics, exhibiting viscosity = s , while the zero-sound velocityc 1=[–1(B1+4/3s)]1/2, so that phenomenologically zero-sound propagates like a longitudinal elastic wave in a glass. A higher zero-sound mode is also predicted, but is heavily damped. The heat flux is calculated and found to obey Vernotte's equation, which contains an intertial term, added to Fourier's law, that becomes significant asT 0.  相似文献
