A concurrent-hybrid non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (hybrid NSGA-II) has been developed and applied to the simultaneous optimization of the annual energy production, flapwise root-bending moment and mass of the NREL 5 MW wind-turbine blade. By hybridizing a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (MOEA) with gradient-based local search, it is believed that the optimal set of blade designs could be achieved in lower computational cost than for a conventional MOEA. To measure the convergence between the hybrid and non-hybrid NSGA-II on a wind-turbine blade optimization problem, a computationally intensive case was performed using the non-hybrid NSGA-II. From this particular case, a three-dimensional surface representing the optimal trade-off between the annual energy production, flapwise root-bending moment and blade mass was achieved. The inclusion of local gradients in the blade optimization, however, shows no improvement in the convergence for this three-objective problem.  相似文献

In this article, a customized evolutionary optimization procedure is developed for generating minimum weight compliant mechanisms. A previously-suggested concept of multi-objectivization in which a helper objective is introduced in addition to the primary objective of the original single-objective optimization problem (SOOP) is used here. The helper objective is chosen in a way such that it is in conflict with the primary objective, thereby causing an evolutionary multi-objective optimization algorithm to maintain diversity in its population from one generation to another. The elitist non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) is customized with a domain-specific initialization strategy, a domain-specific crossover operator, and a domain-specific solution repairing strategy. To make the search process computationally tractable, the proposed methodology is made suitable for parallel computing. A local search methodology is applied on the evolved non-dominated solutions found by the above-mentioned modified NSGA-II to refine the solutions further. Two case studies for tracing curvilinear and straight-line paths are performed. Results demonstrate that solutions having smaller weight than the reference design solution obtained by SOOP are found by the proposed procedure. Interesting facts and observations brought out by the study are also narrated and conclusions of the study are made.  相似文献

It is reasonable to assume that the changing of the optimization environment is smooth when considering a dynamic multi-objective optimization problem. Learning techniques are widely used to explore the dependence structure to facilitate population re-initialization in evolutionary search paradigms. The aim of the learning techniques is to discover knowledge from history information, thereby to track the movement of the optimal front quickly through good initialization when a change occurs. In this article, a new learning strategy is proposed, where the main ideas are (1) to use mutual information to identify the relationship between previously found approximated solutions; (2) to use a stable matching mechanism strategy to associate previously found optimal solutions bijectively; and (3) to re-initialize the new population based on a kinematics model. Controlled experiments were carried out systematically on some widely used test problems. Comparison against several state-of-the-art dynamic multi-objective evolutionary algorithms showed comparable performance in favour of the developed algorithm.  相似文献

Reference point based optimization offers tools for the effective treatment of preference based multi-objective optimization problems, e.g. when the decision-maker has a rough idea about the target objective values. For the numerical solution of such problems, specialized evolutionary strategies have become popular, despite their possible slow convergence rates. Hybridizing such evolutionary algorithms with local search techniques have been shown to produce faster and more reliable algorithms. In this article, the directed search (DS) method is adapted to the context of reference point optimization problems, making this variant, called RDS, a well-suited option for integration into evolutionary algorithms. Numerical results on academic test problems with up to five objectives demonstrate the benefit of the novel hybrid (i.e. the same approximation quality can be obtained more efficiently by the new algorithm), using the state-of-the-art algorithm R-NSGA-II for this coupling. This represents an advantage when treating costly-to-evaluate real-world engineering design problems.  相似文献

This article deals with improving and evaluating the performance of two evolutionary algorithm approaches for automated engineering design optimization. Here a marine propeller design with constraints on cavitation nuisance is the intended application. For this purpose, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is adapted for multi-objective optimization and constraint handling for use in propeller design. Three PSO algorithms are developed and tested for the optimization of four commercial propeller designs for different ship types. The results are evaluated by interrogating the generation medians and the Pareto front development. The same propellers are also optimized utilizing the well established NSGA-II genetic algorithm to provide benchmark results. The authors' PSO algorithms deliver comparable results to NSGA-II, but converge earlier and enhance the solution in terms of constraints violation.  相似文献

Reservoir flood control operation (RFCO) is a challenging optimization problem with interdependent decision variables and multiple conflicting criteria. By considering safety both upstream and downstream of the dam, a multi-objective optimization model is built for RFCO. To solve this problem, a multi-objective optimizer, the multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition–differential evolution (MOEA/D-DE), is developed by introducing a differential evolution-inspired recombination into the algorithmic framework of the decomposition-based multi-objective optimization algorithm, which has been proven to be effective for solving complex multi-objective optimization problems. Experimental results on four typical floods at the Ankang reservoir illustrated that the suggested algorithm outperforms or performs as well as the comparison algorithms. It can significantly reduce the flood peak and also guarantee the dam’s safety.  相似文献

This article aims to investigate the means to obtain optimal hot stamping process parameters and the influence of the stochastic variability of these parameters on forming quality. A multi-objective stochastic approach, integrating response surface methodology (RSM), multi-objective genetic algorithm optimization non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) and the Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) method is proposed in this article to achieve this goal. RSM was used to establish the relationship between the process parameters and forming quality indices. NSGA-II was utilized to obtain a Pareto frontier, which consists of a series of optimal process parameters. The MCS method was employed to study and reduce the influence of a stochastic property of these process parameters on forming quality. The results confirmed the efficiency of the proposed multi-objective stochastic approach during optimization of the hot stamping process. Robust optimal process parameters guaranteeing good forming quality were also obtained using this approach.  相似文献

The reliability and real time of industrial wireless sensor networks (IWSNs) are the absolute requirements for industrial systems, which are two foremost obstacles for the large-scale applications of IWSNs. This paper studies the multi-objective node placement problem to guarantee the reliability and real time of IWSNs from the perspective of systems. A novel multi-objective node deployment model is proposed in which the reliability, real time, costs and scalability of IWSNs are addressed. Considering that the optimal node placement is an NP-hard problem, a new multi-objective binary differential evolution harmony search (MOBDEHS) is developed to tackle it, which is inspired by the mechanism of harmony search and differential evolution. Three large-scale node deployment problems are generated as the benCHmarks to verify the proposed model and algorithm. The experimental results demonstrate that the developed model is valid and can be used to design large-scale IWSNs with guaranteed reliability and real-time performance efficiently. Moreover, the comparison results indicate that the proposed MOBDEHS is an effective tool for multi-objective node placement problems and superior to Pareto-based binary differential evolution algorithms, nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) and modified NSGA-II.  相似文献

This paper proposes two new differential evolution algorithms (DE) for solving the job shop scheduling problem (JSP) that minimises two single objective functions: makespan and total weighted tardiness. The proposed algorithms aim to enhance the efficiency of the search by dynamically balancing exploration and exploitation ability in DE and avoiding the problem of premature convergence. The first algorithm allows DE population to simultaneously perform different mutation strategies in order to extract the strengths of various strategies and compensate for the weaknesses of each individual strategy to enhance the overall performance. The second algorithm allows the whole DE population to change the search behaviour whenever the solutions do not improve. This study also introduces a modified local mutation operation embedded in the two proposed DE algorithms to promote exploitation in different areas of the search space. In addition, a local search technique, called Critical Block (CB) neighbourhood, is applied to enhance the quality of solutions. The performances of the proposed algorithms are evaluated on a set of benchmark problems and compared with results obtained from an efficient existing Particle Swarm Optimisation (PSO) algorithm. The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed DE algorithms yield promising results while using shorter computing times and fewer numbers of function evaluations.  相似文献

In this article, two algorithms are proposed for constructing almost even approximations of the Pareto front of multi-objective optimization problems. The first algorithm is a hybrid of the ε-constraint and Pascoletti–Serafini scalarization methods for solving bi-objective problems. The second is a modification of the successive Pareto optimization (SPO) algorithm for solving three-objective problems. In these algorithms, the MATLAB fmincon solver is used to solve single-objective optimization problems, which returns a local optimal solution. Some metrics are considered to evaluate the quality of approximations obtained by the suggested algorithms on six test problems, and their results are compared with other algorithms (normal constraint, weighted constraint, SPO, differential evolution, multi-objective evolutionary algorithm/decomposition–differential evolution, non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II and S-metric selection evolutionary multi-objective algorithm). Experimental results show that the proposed algorithms provide almost even approximations of the whole Pareto front, and better quality of approximation and CPU time compared with established algorithms.  相似文献

This study proposes a method for solving mixed-integer constrained optimization problems using an evolutionary Lagrange method. In this approach, an augmented Lagrange function is used to transform the mixed-integer constrained optimization problem into an unconstrained min—max problem with decision-variable minimization and Lagrange-multiplier maximization. The mixed-integer hybrid differential evolution (MIHDE) is introduced into the evolutionary min—max algorithm to accomplish the implementation of the evolutionary Lagrange method. MIHDE provides a mixed coding to denote genetic representations of teal and integer variables, and a rounding operation is used to guide the genetic evolution of integer variables. To fulfill global convergence, self-adaptation for penalty parameters is involved in the evolutionary min—max algorithm so that small penalty parameters can be used, not affecting the final search results. Some numerical experiments are tested to evacuate the performance of the proposed method. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed method converges to better solutions than the conventional penalty function method

Although many methodologies have been proposed for solving the cell-formation problem, few of them explicitly consider the existence of multiple objectives in the design process. In this article, the development of multi-objective genetic programming single-linkage cluster analysis (GP-SLCA), an evolutionary methodology for the solution of the multi-objective cell-formation problem, is described. The proposed methodology combines an existing algorithm for the solution of single-objective cell-formation problems with NSGA-II, an elitist evolutionary multi-objective optimization technique. Multi-objective GP-SLCA is able to generate automatically a set of non-dominated solutions for a given multi-objective cell-formation problem. The benefits of the proposed approach are illustrated using an example test problem taken from the literature and an industrial case study.  相似文献

Multilevel redundancy allocation optimization problems (MRAOPs) occur frequently when attempting to maximize the system reliability of a hierarchical system, and almost all complex engineering systems are hierarchical. Despite their practical significance, limited research has been done concerning the solving of simple MRAOPs. These problems are not only NP hard but also involve hierarchical design variables. Genetic algorithms (GAs) have been applied in solving MRAOPs, since they are computationally efficient in solving such problems, unlike exact methods, but their applications has been confined to single-objective formulation of MRAOPs. This paper proposes a multi-objective formulation of MRAOPs and a methodology for solving such problems. In this methodology, a hierarchical GA framework for multi-objective optimization is proposed by introducing hierarchical genotype encoding for design variables. In addition, we implement the proposed approach by integrating the hierarchical genotype encoding scheme with two popular multi-objective genetic algorithms (MOGAs)—the strength Pareto evolutionary genetic algorithm (SPEA2) and the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II). In the provided numerical examples, the proposed multi-objective hierarchical approach is applied to solve two hierarchical MRAOPs, a 4- and a 3-level problems. The proposed method is compared with a single-objective optimization method that uses a hierarchical genetic algorithm (HGA), also applied to solve the 3- and 4-level problems. The results show that a multi-objective hierarchical GA (MOHGA) that includes elitism and mechanism for diversity preserving performed better than a single-objective GA that only uses elitism, when solving large-scale MRAOPs. Additionally, the experimental results show that the proposed method with NSGA-II outperformed the proposed method with SPEA2 in finding useful Pareto optimal solution sets.  相似文献

Evolutionary algorithms are promising candidates for obtaining the global optimum. Hybrid differential evolution is one or the evolutionary algorithms, which has been successfully applied to many real-world nonlinear programming problems. This paper proposes a co-evolutionary hybrid differential evolution to solve mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problems. The key ingredients of the algorithm consist of an integer-valued variable evolution and a real-valued variable co-evolution, so that the algorithm can be used to solve MINLP problems or pure integer programming problems. Furthermore, the algorithm combines a local search heuristic (called acceleration) and a widespread search heuristic (called migration) to promote the search for a global optimum. Some numerical examples are tested to illustrate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Numerical examples show that the proposed algorithm converges to better solutions than the conventional MINLP optimization methods  相似文献

In this article, a new proposal of using particle swarm optimization algorithms to solve multi-objective optimization problems is presented. The algorithm is constructed based on the concept of Pareto dominance, as well as a state-of-the-art ‘parallel’ computing technique that intends to improve algorithmic effectiveness and efficiency simultaneously. The proposed parallel particle swarm multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (PPS-MOEA) is tested through a variety of standard test functions taken from the literature; its performance is compared with six noted multi-objective algorithms. The computational experience gained from the first two experiments indicates that the algorithm proposed in this article is extremely competitive when compared with other MOEAs, being able to accurately, reliably and robustly approximate the true Pareto front in almost every tested case. To justify the motivation behind the research of the parallel swarm structure, the computational results of the third experiment confirm the PPS-MOEA's merit in solving really high-dimensional multi-objective optimization problems.  相似文献

A multi-objective memetic algorithm based on decomposition is proposed in this article, in which a simplified quadratic approximation (SQA) is employed as a local search operator for enhancing the performance of a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition (MOEA/D). The SQA is used for a fast local search and the MOEA/D is used as the global optimizer. The multi-objective memetic algorithm based on decomposition, i.e. a hybrid of the MOEA/D with the SQA (MOEA/D-SQA), is designed to balance local versus global search strategies so as to obtain a set of diverse non-dominated solutions as quickly as possible. The emphasis of this article is placed on demonstrating how this local search scheme can improve the performance of MOEA/D for multi-objective optimization. MOEA/D-SQA has been tested on a wide set of benchmark problems with complicated Pareto set shapes. Experimental results indicate that the proposed approach performs better than MOEA/D. In addition, the results obtained are very competitive when comparing MOEA/D-SQA with other state-of-the-art techniques.  相似文献

In this paper a new graph-based evolutionary algorithm, gM-PAES, is proposed in order to solve the complex problem of truss layout multi-objective optimization. In this algorithm a graph-based genotype is employed as a modified version of Memetic Pareto Archive Evolution Strategy (M-PAES), a well-known hybrid multi-objective optimization algorithm, and consequently, new graph-based crossover and mutation operators perform as the solution generation tools in this algorithm. The genetic operators are designed in a way that helps the multi-objective optimizer to cover all parts of the true Pareto front in this specific problem. In the optimization process of the proposed algorithm, the local search part of gM-PAES is controlled adaptively in order to reduce the required computational effort and enhance its performance. In the last part of the paper, four numeric examples are presented to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Results show that the proposed algorithm has great ability in producing a set of solutions which cover all parts of the true Pareto front.  相似文献

Most real-world optimization problems involve the optimization task of more than a single objective function and, therefore, require a great amount of computational effort as the solution procedure is designed to anchor multiple compromised optimal solutions. Abundant multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) for multi-objective optimization have appeared in the literature over the past two decades. In this article, a new proposal by means of particle swarm optimization is addressed for solving multi-objective optimization problems. The proposed algorithm is constructed based on the concept of Pareto dominance, taking both the diversified search and empirical movement strategies into account. The proposed particle swarm MOEA with these two strategies is thus dubbed the empirical-movement diversified-search multi-objective particle swarm optimizer (EMDS-MOPSO). Its performance is assessed in terms of a suite of standard benchmark functions taken from the literature and compared to other four state-of-the-art MOEAs. The computational results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm shows great promise in solving multi-objective optimization problems.  相似文献
