This paper proposes a multi-objective hybrid artificial bee colony (MOHABC) algorithm for service composition and optimal selection (SCOS) in cloud manufacturing, in which both the quality of service and the energy consumption are considered from the perspectives of economy and environment that are two pillars of sustainable manufacturing. The MOHABC uses the concept of Pareto dominance to direct the searching of a bee swarm, and maintains non-dominated solution found in an external archive. In order to achieve good distribution of solutions along the Pareto front, cuckoo search with Levy flight is introduced in the employed bee search to maintain diversity of population. Furthermore, to ensure the balance of exploitation and exploration capabilities for MOHABC, the comprehensive learning strategy is designed in the onlooker search so that every bee learns from the external archive elite, itself and other onlookers. Experiments are carried out to verify the effect of the improvement strategies and parameters’ impacts on the proposed algorithm and comparative study of the MOHABC with typical multi-objective algorithms for SCOS problems are addressed. The results show that the proposed approach obtains very promising solutions that significantly surpass the other considered algorithms.  相似文献

In this paper, an efficient multi-objective optimization approach based on the micro genetic algorithm is suggested to solving the multi-objective optimization problems. An external elite archive is used to store Pareto-optimal solutions found in the evolutionary process. A non-dominated sorting is employed to classify the combinational population of the evolutionary population and the external elite population into several different non-dominated levels. Once the evolutionary population converges, an exploratory operator will be performed to explore more non-dominated solutions, and a restart strategy will be subsequently adopted. Simulation results for several difficult test functions indicate that the present method has higher efficiency and better convergence near the globally Pareto-optimal set for all test functions, and a better spread of solutions for some test functions compared to NSGAII. Eventually, this approach is applied to the structural optimization of a composite laminated plate for maximum stiffness in thickness direction and minimum mass.  相似文献

This article presents a particle swarm optimizer (PSO) capable of handling constrained multi-objective optimization problems. The latter occur frequently in engineering design, especially when cost and performance are simultaneously optimized. The proposed algorithm combines the swarm intelligence fundamentals with elements from bio-inspired algorithms. A distinctive feature of the algorithm is the utilization of an arithmetic recombination operator, which allows interaction between non-dominated particles. Furthermore, there is no utilization of an external archive to store optimal solutions. The PSO algorithm is applied to multi-objective optimization benchmark problems and also to constrained multi-objective engineering design problems. The algorithmic effectiveness is demonstrated through comparisons of the PSO results with those obtained from other evolutionary optimization algorithms. The proposed particle swarm optimizer was able to perform in a very satisfactory manner in problems with multiple constraints and/or high dimensionality. Promising results were also obtained for a multi-objective engineering design problem with mixed variables.  相似文献

In multi-objective optimization computing, it is important to assign suitable parameters to each optimization problem to obtain better solutions. In this study, a self-adaptive multi-objective harmony search (SaMOHS) algorithm is developed to apply the parameter-setting-free technique, which is an example of a self-adaptive methodology. The SaMOHS algorithm attempts to remove some of the inconvenience from parameter setting and selects the most adaptive parameters during the iterative solution search process. To verify the proposed algorithm, an optimal least cost water distribution network design problem is applied to three different target networks. The results are compared with other well-known algorithms such as multi-objective harmony search and the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm is quantified by suitable performance indices. The results indicate that SaMOHS can be efficiently applied to the search for Pareto-optimal solutions in a multi-objective solution space.  相似文献

This paper presents a hybrid Pareto-based local search (PLS) algorithm for solving the multi-objective flexible job shop scheduling problem. Three minimisation objectives are considered simultaneously, i.e. the maximum completion time (makespan), the total workload of all machines, and the workload of the critical machine. In this study, several well-designed neighbouring approaches are proposed, which consider the problem characteristics and thus can hold fast convergence ability while keep the population with a certain level of quality and diversity. Moreover, a variable neighbourhood search (VNS) based self-adaptive strategy is embedded in the hybrid algorithm to utilise the neighbouring approaches efficiently. Then, an external Pareto archive is developed to record the non-dominated solutions found so far. In addition, a speed-up method is devised to update the Pareto archive set. Experimental results on several well-known benchmarks show the efficiency of the proposed hybrid algorithm. It is concluded that the PLS algorithm is superior to the very recent algorithms, in term of both search quality and computational efficiency.  相似文献

In existing scheduling models, the flexible job-shop scheduling problem mainly considers machine flexibility. However, human factor is also an important element existing in real production that is often neglected theoretically. In this paper, we originally probe into a multi-objective flexible job-shop scheduling problem with worker flexibility (MO-FJSPW). A non-linear integer programming model is presented for the problem. Correspondingly, a memetic algorithm (MA) is designed to solve the proposed MO-FJSPW whose objective is to minimise the maximum completion time, the maximum workload of machines and the total workload of all machines. A well-designed chromosome encoding/decoding method is proposed and the adaptive genetic operators are selected by experimental studies. An elimination process is executed to eliminate the repeated individuals in population. Moreover, a local search is incorporated into the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II. In experimental phase, the crossover operator and elimination operator in MA are examined firstly. Afterwards, some extensive comparisons are carried out between MA and some other multi-objective algorithms. The simulation results show that the MA performs better for the proposed MO-FJSPW than other algorithms.  相似文献

Genetic algorithms are currently one of the state-of-the-art meta-heuristic techniques for the optimization of large engineering systems such as the design and rehabilitation of water distribution networks. They are capable of finding near-optimal cost solutions to these problems given certain cost and hydraulic parameters. Recently, multi-objective genetic algorithms have become prevalent in the water industry due to the conflicting nature of these hydraulic and cost objectives. The Pareto-front of solutions can aid decision makers in the water industry as it provides a set of design solutions which can be examined by experienced engineers. However, multi-objective genetic algorithms tend to require a large number of objective function evaluations to arrive at an acceptable Pareto-front. This article investigates a novel hybrid cellular automaton and genetic approach to multi-objective optimization (known as CAMOGA). The proposed method is applied to two large, real-world networks taken from the UK water industry. The results show that the proposed cellular automaton approach can provide a good approximation of the Pareto-front with very few network simulations, and that CAMOGA outperforms the standard multi-objective genetic algorithm in terms of efficiency in discovering similar Pareto-fronts.  相似文献

This paper considers the problem of parallel machine scheduling with sequence-dependent setup times to minimise both makespan and total earliness/tardiness in the due window. To tackle the problem considered, a multi-phase algorithm is proposed. The goal of the initial phase is to obtain a good approximation of the Pareto-front. In the second phase, to improve the Pareto-front, non-dominated solutions are unified to constitute a big population. In this phase, based on the local search in the Pareto space concept, three multi-objective hybrid metaheuristics are proposed. Covering the whole set of Pareto-optimal solutions is a desired task of multi-objective optimisation methods. So in the third phase, a new method using an e-constraint hybrid metaheuristic is proposed to cover the gaps between the non-dominated solutions and improve the Pareto-front. Appropriate combinations of multi-objective methods in various phases are considered to improve the total performance. The multi-phase algorithm iterates over a genetic algorithm in the first phase and three hybrid metaheuristics in the second and third phases. Experiments on the test problems with different structures show that the multi-phase method is a better tool to approximate the efficient set than the global archive sub-population genetic algorithm presented previously.  相似文献

Most real-world optimization problems involve the optimization task of more than a single objective function and, therefore, require a great amount of computational effort as the solution procedure is designed to anchor multiple compromised optimal solutions. Abundant multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) for multi-objective optimization have appeared in the literature over the past two decades. In this article, a new proposal by means of particle swarm optimization is addressed for solving multi-objective optimization problems. The proposed algorithm is constructed based on the concept of Pareto dominance, taking both the diversified search and empirical movement strategies into account. The proposed particle swarm MOEA with these two strategies is thus dubbed the empirical-movement diversified-search multi-objective particle swarm optimizer (EMDS-MOPSO). Its performance is assessed in terms of a suite of standard benchmark functions taken from the literature and compared to other four state-of-the-art MOEAs. The computational results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm shows great promise in solving multi-objective optimization problems.  相似文献

This paper describes a novel implementation of the Simulated Annealing algorithm designed to explore the trade-off between multiple objectives in optimization problems. During search, the algorithm maintains and updates an archive of non-dominated solutions between each of the competing objectives. At the end of search, the final archive corresponds to a number of optimal solutions from which the designer may choose a particular configuration. A new acceptance probability formulation based on an annealing schedule with multiple temperatures (one for each objective) is proposed along with a novel restart strategy. The performance of the algorithm is demonstrated on three examples. It is concluded that the proposed algorithm offers an effective and easily implemented method for exploring the trade-off in multiobjective optimization problems.  相似文献

This article proposes an improved imperialistic competitive algorithm to solve multi-objective optimization problems. The proposed multi-objective imperialistic competitive algorithm (MOICA) uses the elitist strategy, based on the mutation and crossover as in genetic algorithms, and the Pareto concept to store simultaneously optimal solutions of multiple conflicting functions. Three performance metrics are used to evaluate the performance of the new algorithm: convergence to the true Pareto-optimal set, solution diversity and robustness, characterized by the variance over 10 runs. To validate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm, several multi-objective standard test functions with true solutions are used. The obtained results show that the MOICA outperforms most of the methods available in the literature. The proposed algorithm can also handle multi-objective engineering design problems with high dimensions.  相似文献

A non‐dominance criterion‐based metric that tracks the growth of an archive of non‐dominated solutions over a few generations is proposed to generate a convergence curve for multi‐objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs). It was observed that, similar to single‐objective optimization problems, there were significant advances toward the Pareto optimal front in the early phase of evolution while relatively smaller improvements were obtained as the population matured. This convergence curve was used to terminate the MOEA search to obtain a good trade‐off between the computational cost and the quality of the solutions. Two analytical and two crashworthiness optimization problems were used to demonstrate the practical utility of the proposed metric. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

It is reasonable to assume that the changing of the optimization environment is smooth when considering a dynamic multi-objective optimization problem. Learning techniques are widely used to explore the dependence structure to facilitate population re-initialization in evolutionary search paradigms. The aim of the learning techniques is to discover knowledge from history information, thereby to track the movement of the optimal front quickly through good initialization when a change occurs. In this article, a new learning strategy is proposed, where the main ideas are (1) to use mutual information to identify the relationship between previously found approximated solutions; (2) to use a stable matching mechanism strategy to associate previously found optimal solutions bijectively; and (3) to re-initialize the new population based on a kinematics model. Controlled experiments were carried out systematically on some widely used test problems. Comparison against several state-of-the-art dynamic multi-objective evolutionary algorithms showed comparable performance in favour of the developed algorithm.  相似文献

Job-shop scheduling problem (JSP) is a typical NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem and has a broad background for engineering application. Nowadays, the effective approach for JSP is a hot topic in related research area of manufacturing system. However, some JSPs, even for moderate size instances, are very difficult to find an optimal solution within a reasonable time because of the process constraints and the complex large solution space. In this paper, an adaptive multi-population genetic algorithm (AMGA) has been proposed to solve this problem. Firstly, using multi-populations and adaptive crossover probability can enlarge search scope and improve search performance. Secondly, using adaptive mutation probability and elite replacing mechanism can accelerate convergence speed. The approach is tested for some classical benchmark JSPs taken from the literature and compared with some other approaches. The computational results show that the proposed AMGA can produce optimal or near-optimal values on almost all tested benchmark instances. Therefore, we can believe that AMGA can be considered as an effective method for solving JSP.  相似文献

In this paper, a mathematical model and an improved imperial competition algorithm (IICA) are proposed to solve the multi-objective two-sided assembly line rebalancing problem with space and resource restrictions (MTALRBP-SR). The aim is to find lines’ rebalance with the trade-off between efficiency, rebalancing cost and smoothing after reconfiguration. IICA utilises a new initialisation heuristic procedure based on classic heuristic rules to generate feasible initial solutions. A novel heuristic assimilation method is developed to vigorously conduct local search. In addition, a group-based decoding heuristic procedure is developed to fulfil the final task reassignment with the additional restrictions. To investigate the performance of the proposed algorithm, it is first tested on MTALRBP of benchmark problems and compared with some existing algorithms such as genetic algorithm, variable neighbourhood search algorithm, discrete artificial bee colony algorithm, and two iterated greedy algorithms. Next, the efficiency of the proposed IICA for solving MTALRBP-SR is revealed by comparison with a non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) and two versions of original ICA. Computational results and comparisons show the efficiency and effectiveness of IICA. Furthermore, a real-world case study is conducted to validate the proposed algorithm.  相似文献

In this paper a new graph-based evolutionary algorithm, gM-PAES, is proposed in order to solve the complex problem of truss layout multi-objective optimization. In this algorithm a graph-based genotype is employed as a modified version of Memetic Pareto Archive Evolution Strategy (M-PAES), a well-known hybrid multi-objective optimization algorithm, and consequently, new graph-based crossover and mutation operators perform as the solution generation tools in this algorithm. The genetic operators are designed in a way that helps the multi-objective optimizer to cover all parts of the true Pareto front in this specific problem. In the optimization process of the proposed algorithm, the local search part of gM-PAES is controlled adaptively in order to reduce the required computational effort and enhance its performance. In the last part of the paper, four numeric examples are presented to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Results show that the proposed algorithm has great ability in producing a set of solutions which cover all parts of the true Pareto front.  相似文献

Mixed-model assembly line sequencing is one of the most important strategic problems in the field of production management where diversified customers' demands exist. In this article, three major goals are considered: (i) total utility work, (ii) total production rate variation and (iii) total setup cost. Due to the complexity of the problem, a hybrid multi-objective algorithm based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) and tabu search (TS) is devised to obtain the locally Pareto-optimal frontier where simultaneous minimization of the above-mentioned objectives is desired. In order to validate the performance of the proposed algorithm in terms of solution quality and diversity level, the algorithm is applied to various test problems and its reliability, based on different comparison metrics, is compared with three prominent multi-objective genetic algorithms, PS-NC GA, NSGA-II and SPEA-II. The computational results show that the proposed hybrid algorithm significantly outperforms existing genetic algorithms in large-sized problems.  相似文献

Metamodel-assisted evolutionary algorithms are low-cost optimization methods for CPU-demanding problems. Memetic algorithms combine global and local search methods, aiming at improving the quality of promising solutions. This article proposes a metamodel-assisted memetic algorithm which combines and extends the capabilities of the aforementioned techniques. Herein, metamodels undertake a dual role: they perform a low-cost pre-evaluation of population members during the global search and the gradient-based refinement of promising solutions. This reduces significantly the number of calls to the evaluation tool and overcomes the need for computing the objective function gradients. In multi-objective problems, the selection of individuals for refinement is based on domination and distance criteria. During refinement, a scalar strength function is maximized and this proves to be beneficial in constrained optimization. The proposed metamodel-assisted memetic algorithm employs principles of Lamarckian learning and is demonstrated on mathematical and engineering applications.  相似文献
