A new ac plasma display panel (PDP) for high luminous efficacy is proposed, and its characteristics are investigated. The new ac PDP has a coplanar gap of 200 mum and an auxiliary electrode located between the scan and common electrodes. The periodic pulses are applied to the auxiliary electrode during the sustain period, which plays the roles of enhancing the infrared emission and reducing the discharge current. The sustain voltage decreases with the increase of the auxiliary pulse voltage until 80 V. When the voltage of the pulse applied to the auxiliary electrode is 50 V, the luminous efficacy reaches its peak value and is approximately 8.7 lm/W obtained from the measurement of Ne + 20% Xe gas-mixture discharges in the green cells. The luminous efficacy of the new proposed test ac PDP with Ne + 13% Xe and Ne + 20% Xe gas mixtures is improved by 190% and 320%, respectively, compared to that of the conventional ac PDP with a Ne + 13% Xe gas mixture  相似文献

One of the key issues of a large-area organic light-emitting diode (OLED) for flat panel lighting applications is to enhance the uniformity of light emission. In this work, we have investigated the effect of an auxiliary metal (chrome) electrode in association with a device configuration on the luminance uniformity of a large-area (15$times$15 cm $^{2}$) white OLED. We demonstrate that the ratio between the effective horizontal resistance of anode (indium–tin–oxide (ITO) with the grid patterned metal electrode) and the vertical resistance of the OLED device is the critical factor to determine the luminance uniformity. Moreover, the luminance uniformity is shown to be a function of the current density and degraded with increasing current density. Namely, the OLED panel with the 200-$mu$ m-wide metal lines exhibits the luminance uniformity as high as 90% at 200 mA and 85% at 500 mA.   相似文献

The characteristics of an address discharge have been investigated in terms of a wall voltage, which plays an important role in achieving a high-speed address discharge in an ac plasma display panel. The wall-voltage conditions generated in a reset period are a considerable factor to reduce the address-discharge time lag. Based on the experimental results, the reset driving scheme in which an address bias voltage is applied to the address electrode in a reset period is proposed to enhance the characteristics of an address-discharge time lag.  相似文献

In this paper, a device utilizing the hollow cathode discharge is demonstrated to diagnose the possibility of improving luminous efficacy of a microplasma device. A series of experiments is conducted by measuring luminous efficacy, which is an important factor in display devices, in accordance with specifications of the cylindrical hollow and gas pressure. The proposed structure has two electrodes, and one of them contained a cylindrical hole and is called a hollow electrode. The hollow electrode works as either a cathode or an anode alternately due to the ac operating conditions. When the hollow electrode operated as a cathode, the luminous efficacy is higher than that of the anode case, and this tendency is observed consistently throughout all experiments. Moreover, from the measurement results on the tendency of luminous efficacy in terms of hole specifications, different aspects of luminous efficacy are obtained, depending on whether the variation is in the diameter or in the depth. In case of the diameter, the luminous efficacy is improved when $p cdot D$ (i.e., the product of the gas pressure and the diameter of the cylindrical hole) is less than one $hbox{Torr} cdot hbox{cm}$. In the case of the depth, the maximum value of luminous efficacy exists at the certain $p cdot d$ (i.e., the product of the gas pressure and the depth of the cylindrical hole).   相似文献

A novel driving method is proposed to reduce the addressing time in an ac plasma display panel. In this method, priming discharges are used to achieve high-speed addressing without adding an auxiliary electrode. Some of the scan lines were used to provide the priming particles for the reduction of the address discharge time lag (t/sub d/) in the adjacent scan lines. The number of priming electrodes was optimized and two different types of priming discharge were tested in order to reduce the inherent light output caused by the priming discharges. In the panel experiment, the t/sub d/ was reduced to one half of that of the conventional method when the priming particles were provided and the background luminance was reduced from 4.97 to 2.94 cd/m/sup 2/ through the reduction of the number of priming electrodes, and further, by changing the type of the priming discharge while the peak luminance could be improved more than twice by allocating the saved-time-to-display period, which in turn, resulted in a higher contrast ratio.  相似文献

综述充气成分、配比、压强对彩色PDP特性的影响。利用辉光放电管和3英寸AC-PDP表面放电模拟板,测得几种常用气体的DC放电巴邢曲线和AC表面放电的着火电压曲线。结果表明,对AC表面放电的电极系统不符合气体放电相似定律,其着火电压Uf也不符合巴邢定律。为提高亮度和光效,对表面放电AC-PDP,充气压强应选在Uf=f(p)曲线的右支。最后归纳AC-PDP充气的优化步骤。  相似文献

新型荫罩式等离子体显示板利用制造工艺成熟的金属荫罩替代复杂的介质障壁,不仅降低了成本、而且改善了性能.为了进一步提高其亮度和效率,针对42 inch荫罩式等离子显示器提出了一种新型十字形扫描电极结构,采用放大单元实验方法,研究了该电极结构的放电过程,给出了高速ICCD拍摄的光分布图.测量了相应的功耗、红外辐射强度、以及放电效率,并与传统条状电极结构进行了比较.结果表明,新型十字形扫描电极结构使放电区域沿扫描电极的主电极部分大大扩展,放电更剧烈,亮度也有显著提高,效率得到了改善,放电速度也更快.  相似文献

采用二维数值模拟的方法研究了新型荫罩式PDP结构中驱动电压波形的上升(下降)沿对其单元放电特性的影响。分别模拟了寻址期和维持期内驱动电压沿为线性及正弦波形时的放电过程,给出了单元内电位分布变化情况,电子及氙谐振态平均浓度随时间变化的情况。得到了粒子峰值出现时刻与电压波形的上升(下降)沿的关系。  相似文献
