Slot-array antennas with parasitic slots, slot-array antennas fed by coplanar waveguide (CPW), and two-dimensional slot-array antennas fed by CPW were fabricated on fused quartz substrates, and the receiving properties of the antennas were investigated at 94 GHz with the goal of increasing the power gain of the slot antennas. It was found that the power gain of the slot antenna could be increased by 11 dB over a single-slot antenna by using a two-dimensional (8×3) slot-array antenna fed by CPW. It was confirmed that the improvement of the power gain was caused by decreasing surface-wave power in the substrate and by sharpening antenna patterns perpendicular to the substrate  相似文献

In microwave and millimeter wave applications, slot antennas fed by coplanar waveguide (CPW) lines are receiving increasing attention. These antennas have several useful properties, such as a wider impedance bandwidth compared to microstrip patch antennas, and easier integration of solid-state active devices. In this paper novel CPW-fed wideband slot antennas are presented. The design procedure of CPW-fed hybrid slot antennas (HSA) having impedance bandwidths (VSWR<2) up to 57% is described. Theoretical and measured results are shown. We also describe the design procedure of a CPW-fed log-periodic slot antenna (LPSA). The impedance matching and the radiation characteristics of these structures were studied using a method of moment technique. Simulated and measured results for different dielectrics are presented.  相似文献

The authors propose an efficient amelioration of the concept of large bandwidth aperture-coupled microstrip antennas by coupling a CPW line-fed slot to a microstrip antenna. The CPW fed aperture-coupled microstrip antenna investigated has a large bandwidth with high gain and low crosspolarisation levels, is compact with only one substrate, and may be easily connected to both passive and active components. A numerical model has been developed and the theoretical results are in good agreement with the experiments  相似文献

Designs of coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed equilateral triangular-ring slot antennas with tuning-stub and triangular-ring slot coupled patch antennas are proposed and experimentally investigated. The impedance matching of the resonant frequency can be obtained only by adjusting the tuning-stub length for the proposed triangular-ring slot antenna with tuning-stub. For the design of ring-slot coupled patch antenna, slightly changing the patch size causes the tunable frequency-ratio f/sub 2//f/sub 1/ between the first two operating frequencies to fall in the range of about 1.1-1.42. Details of the proposed designs are investigated by experimental as well as theoretical studies.  相似文献

Study of a CPW inductively coupled slot antenna   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed slot antennas are attractive due to fabrication simplicity and ease of integration with active devices. A new concept for exciting slots with a CPW line based on inductive coupling is presented. It is described how this coupling structure can be designed to tune the impedance of the antenna over a wide range. Single elements and arrays designed for 5- and 25-GHz operation are described. Simulated and measured characteristics are presented. This new coupling topology is particularly suitable for series-fed array configurations and broad-band design  相似文献

This paper presents an analysis of conductor-backed aperture antennas with multilayered substrate. These printed antennas are fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW). The theoretical approach taken is to develop an integral equation over the aperture region and apply Galerkin's procedure in the spectral domain. The properties of printed antennas with a CPW feed are characterized. Numerical results include the scattering parameters, antenna pattern, and radiation efficiency. The reflection coefficient, input impedance, and far-field pattern are also compared with measurements and good agreement is observed  相似文献

Single- and dual-polarized dielectric lens-supported slot-ring antennas have been developed for operation at millimeter-wave frequencies. The antennas are fed with a coplanar waveguide (CPW) to be compatible with uniplanar mixers and low-noise amplifiers, and the feedline is shown to have a minimal effect on the antenna performance. The measured antenna patterns agree well with theoretical results and have symmetric main beams, low sidelobe levels (<-15 dB), low cross polarization (<-20 dB), and 27 dB directivity. A 2×2 array of single-polarized slot-ring antennas for monopulse applications demonstrates excellent patterns at 94 GHz with -3 dB crossover power levels in both elevation and azimuth scans. The dual-polarized slot ring antenna patterns are nearly identical to those of the single-polarized antenna, and two-port isolation is as low as -25 dB. The dielectric lens-supported slot-ring antenna is an excellent candidate for compact, low-cost millimeter-wave systems with fixed or variable polarization capabilities  相似文献

Dual-polarized dielectric resonator antennas   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Two high input-isolation dual-polarized dielectric resonator (DR) antennas are presented in this communication. First, a slot-coupled feed technique with two narrow slots forming a "T" configuration is employed to design a dual-polarized DR antenna. Input isolation exceeding 35 dB has been obtained in the band for this design. Secondly, a hybrid feed mechanism with a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed and a slot feed is used to achieve a dual-polarized DR antenna. A vertical strip is added at the center strip of the CPW feed to improve the coupling to the DR antenna. Also, input isolation exceeding 35 dB has been obtained in the band. Good cross-polarization levels less than -20 dB in the broadside direction are attained. The measured far-field radiation patterns are stable in the passband and the measured gains are around 5.5 dBi for the two feed ports of both cases.  相似文献

A numerical modeling based on the solution of coupled integral equations is used for the characterization of CPW-fed aperture-coupled microstrip antennas. Various shapes of excitation slots, such as open stubs, slot loops, and capacitively and inductively coupled slots, are investigated in terms of return loss and front-to-back radiated power ratio. It is shown that a centered CPW open stub gives a minimum of back radiation while allowing for easy matching. The slot-loop excitation seems to be a convenient feeding mechanism that also allows the insertion of active devices  相似文献

In this paper, Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) elements are used to load UHF RFID meander-line antennas. Although, the insertion of these elements allow to design small antennas their gain decrease depending on the CPW structures are connected. In this sense, a new location to print CPW elements in the meander-line antenna is proposed aiming not to deteriorate the gain. A multi-objective optimization algorithm is applied in the meander-line antennas loaded with CPW elements in different positions and a comparison between their performances is done. To validate the computational model of the proposed antenna its input impedance is measured.  相似文献

In this letter, a new multiple-frequency-tuned slot resonator is introduced in coplanar waveguide (CPW) technology. Its equivalent circuit model is built up and its frequency characteristics are explained by employing the equivalent circuit parameters and field analysis. Furthermore, one-dimensional (1-D) and 2-D CPW structures with the proposed slot resonator are designed. Measurements show that the proposed CPW structures with compact size exhibit good multiple-stopband behaviours.  相似文献

Coplanar waveguide-fed circularly polarized microstrip antenna   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Design of a square microstrip antenna for obtaining circular polarization (CP) radiation using a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed is presented. This CP design is achieved by insetting a slit to the boundary of the square microstrip patch, which makes possible the splitting of the dominant resonant mode into two near-degenerate orthogonal modes for CP radiation and introducing an inclined slot in the CPW feed line for coupling the electromagnetic (EM) energy of the CPW to the square patch. Good impedance matching for CP operation can be obtained by adjusting the inclined slot length and the tuning-stub length of the CPW feed line. Typical experimental results are presented and discussed  相似文献

Design of a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed square microstrip antenna with circular polarisation (CP) radiation is described. This CP design is achieved by using an asymmetric inductively coupling slot in the ground plane of the CPW feed line. Results show that the proposed antenna can have a CP bandwidth of 2.4%, whereas a simple inclined coupling slot case has 1.6% CP bandwidth at a fixed square patch size. Typical experimental results are presented and discussed  相似文献

Two new techniques for exciting a linearly tapered slot antenna (LTSA) with coplanar waveguide (CPW) are introduced. In the first approach, an air bridge is used to couple power from a CPW to an LTSA. In the second approach, power is electromagnetically coupled from a finite CPW (FCPW) to an LTSA. Measured results at 18 GHz show excellent return loss and radiation patterns.<>  相似文献

A method for analyzing and designing the slot antenna array excited by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) is presented. The slots are etched on the conducting plane of the CPW and placed in the direction perpendicular to the transmission line. Moment-method analysis and matrix-pencil approach are adopted to calculate the scattering parameters and hence the self-admittance of each slot. The mutual admittances between the slots are calculated from the formulas derived for the complementary strip dipoles based on the reciprocity theorem and via Booker's relation. Then the transmission line theory is used to calculate the input impedance of the array, and an iterative process is employed to obtain a matched design for a desired slot-voltage distribution. A four-element slot array is fabricated and measured using this design procedure. Calculated results are in good agreement with measurements  相似文献

A circular patch antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) line is proposed to obtain circular polarisation (CP). The CP results from the combined excitation of the patch by an inclined slot (integrated in the CPW feedline) and the CPW feedline termination. The asymmetrical characteristics of the excitation involve the excitation of both the odd and the even modes in the CPW line.  相似文献

A novel broadband circularly-polarised (CP) square slot antenna fed by an asymmetric coplanar waveguide (CPW) from a corner of the slot is proposed. A CP bandwidth larger than 10% can be attained simply by using an inverted-L tuning stub protruded from the signal line of the CPW. With an additional pair of grounded strips implanted in the slot, the 3 dB axial-ratio bandwidth and the VSWR ⩽ 2 impedance bandwidth can be greatly raised to be as high as 30 and 35%, respectively.  相似文献

A dual symmetrical coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed small size wideband printed square slot antenna (SSA) with dual linearly and circularly polarized radiation capability is presented. The antenna is composed using a square slot, two symmetrical orthogonal CPW feed lines connected to horizontal and vertical arm of L-shaped radiator, an embedded parasitic inverted-L strip at the lower left corner of the square ground slot and engraving slots in the ground plane. Circular polarization (CP) is achieved due to two orthogonal CPW feed lines and a common L-shaped radiator. Isolation between ports is improved by engraving slots at the lower left corner of ground plane and embedded parasitic inverted-L strip. The sense of dual-polarization can be changed in pass-band by changing the port excitation. Measured antenna reveals that an 84.4% (4.6 GHz, 3.15–7.75 GHz) −10 dB impedance bandwidth (IBW) and about 33% (2.03 GHz, 5.12–7.15 GHz) 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW). Isolation between ports <−16 dB is achieved over usable CP band.  相似文献

Coplanar waveguide fed wideband slot antenna   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
A new design for a coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed slot antenna is presented. The impedance matching and the radiation characteristics of this structure were studied using the method of moment technique. This antenna has an impedance bandwidth (for a VSWR<2) of 49% and a radiation bandwidth of 42% about its 4.8 GHz centre frequency, compared to the 12-20% impedance bandwidth of the standard CPW fed slot antenna. The cross-polarisation in both the principle planes is at least 20 dB below co-polarisation across the entire bandwidth. Simulated and measured results of the antenna are presented. This wideband antenna has significant applications in wireless technologies  相似文献
