The transmission characteristics of the mode TE11 for a new type of closed trapezoidal-groove guide with arbitrary inclined angle are analysed in detail with the mode-matching method in this paper. The calculated results are in good agreement with the experimental values in the published reference. The dispersion of the closed trapezoidal-groove guide is very low. The relationships of the cut-off wavelength and the attenuation constant with the structural sizes of the closed trapezoidal-groove waveguide are also obtained. The given results have very important value in study, design, manufacture and application for closed trapezoidal-groove waveguide.  相似文献

In this paper, the propagation properties such as the dispersion characteristics, cut-off wavelength, guide wavelength and field distribution for the main mode of trapezoidal-groove guide are analysed by using the finite element method. The dispersion is very low, and the field distribution in a trapezoidal-groove guide is similar to that of rectangular one. In this paper, the cut-off and dispersion characteristics of a new kind of closed trapezoidal-groove waveguide that has more advantages than open groove waveguides are analyzed with the help of the boundary element method, the relationship between cut-off wavelengths and variations of guide's relative sizes is discussed in detail. An improved solution to the dominant mode properties of groove guides of general cross section is presented in this paper. A novel differential equation is formulated and solved by numerical integration technique. Numerical results for single V-groove guide show good agreement with available measured values. Circular groove guide is a kind of waveguide for millimeter waves with low loss, large dimensions, and low dispersion. In this paper, the dominant mode characteristics of it is analysed. The technique that mode macthing method combines with point matching method is used to derive the Nth-order characteristic equation of the guide. The 1st order, 2nd order and 3rd order approximate curves that the normalized cutoff wavelength of circular groove guide varies with c/a are given. The attenuation curves are given at 1mm, 1.5mm and 3mm wavelength. The numerical results are in well agreement with the experimental results published.  相似文献

Loss and dispersion characteristics of groove guide are two practically important factors in the design for millimeter wave system consisting of groove guide. In this paper, a new method is presented for analyzing loss and dispersion characteristics of the groove guides with arbitrary groove cross-sections. The method is based on the combination of an equivalent active transmission line equation and the staircase approximation. Numerical results of dispersion and attenuation properties for some groove guides with different groove profiles are given. The effectiveness and practicality of the present analysis are confirmed by the data given in the literature.  相似文献

A novel planar waveguide which is suitable for guiding electromagnetic (EM) energy in the millimeter-wave and submillimeter- wave regions is studied. By using Wiener-Hopf techniques, we first determine the reflection coefficient at the open ends of the guide. Next, a transverse resonance condition is applied to determine the dispersion relation of the modal field. The propagation constant is found to be complex. Its imaginary part accounts for the edge diffraction loss of the strip through the open ends of the guide. Extensive numerical results are given for the disperson characteristics and modal field distributions for silicon and fuzed quartz substrates. The planar strip waveguide should have the advantages of simplicity in processing, a lower random diffraction loss, and accessibility to monolithic integration techniques.  相似文献

The dispersion and loss characteristics of groove guide with arbitrary shapes are analyzed with high-order finite element method. The effectiveness and the reliablity of the method are verified by the experiments and the results obtained by other methods. Groove guides with various groove shapes, such as rectangular, triangular, parabolic, elliptic and cosine functions, are investigated systematically. The calculating results show that the dispersion of groove guide with different groove shape is almost the same, however, the loss characteristics is rather different; among them, V-shape groove guide has the lowest loss which is about half of the rectangular one. All the curves and the data given in this paper can be used in designing elements and circuits of the groove guide.  相似文献

本文用高次有限元法分析了任意形状槽波导的色散和损耗特性.该方法的有效性和可靠性由实验和其它计算结果所证实.文中对诸如矩形、三角形、抛物、椭圆和余弦等形状的槽波导进行了系统的研究.计算结果表明,不同形状槽波导具有相近的色散特性,但损耗相差很大,其中V形槽波导损耗最小,大约是矩形槽波导的一半.文中给出的曲线可供设计槽波导元件和电路时参考.  相似文献

The discretization inherent in the finite-element method results in numerical dispersion. This dispersion is investigated for a time-harmonic plane wave propagating through an infinite, two-dimensional, finite-element mesh composed of uniform quadrilateral and triangular elements. The effects on the dispersion due to the propagation direction of the wave, the order of the elements, the node density, and the mesh geometry are studied. Groove guide is widely recognized as one of the most promising millimeter wave transmission structures. In this paper, the mode-matching method is used to analyse the dispersion characteristics of single and asymmetrical double groove guides, and the unified formulae of Nth-order approximation dispersion equations are presented. Based on this analysis, a general program for calculating the dispersion characteristrics of single and asymmetrical double groove guides has been completed. Some comparisons between the results obtained by present method and published data show that very good agreement has been seen. The effectiveness and the reliability of the given formulae and program are thus verified.  相似文献
