Fourier-domain holography (FDH) is investigated as a candidate for holographic optical coherence imaging to produce real-time images of structure inside living tissue and turbid media. The effects of spatial filtering, the background intensity distributions, and the role of background noise in determining dynamic range are evaluated for both FDH and image-domain holography (IDH). The grating washout effect in FDH (edge enhancement) is removed by use of a vibrating diffuser that consequently improves the image quality. By comparing holographic images and background images of FDH and IDH we show that FDH provides a higher dynamic range and a higher image quality than IDH for this specific application of imaging diffuse volumetric objects.  相似文献

We propose a novel optical sectioning method for optical scanning holography, which is performed in phase space by using Wigner distribution functions together with the fractional Fourier transform. The principle of phase-space optical sectioning for one-dimensional signals, such as slit objects, and two-dimensional signals, such as rectangular objects, is first discussed. Computer simulation results are then presented to substantiate the proposed idea.  相似文献

Matched filtering followed by a minimum Euclidean distance projection onto realizable filter values was previously shown to optimize the signal-to-noise ratio for single training images in optical correlation pattern recognition. The algorithm is now shown to solve the combination of (1) standard statistical pattern-recognition metrics with multiple training images, (2) additive input noise of known power spectral density and also additive detection noise that is irreducible by the filter, (3) the building of the filter on arbitrary subsets of the complex unit disk, and (4) the use of observable correlator outputs only. The criteria include the Fisher ratio, the Bayes error and Bayes cost, the Chernoff and Bhattacharyya bounds, the population entropy and expected information, versions of signal-to-noise ratio that use other than second power in their norm, and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve. Different criteria are optimized by different complex scalar weights.  相似文献

A technique is presented by which holograms can be recorded when an object or scene is scanned with an optically heterodyned Fresnel zone pattern. The experimental setup, based on optical scanning holography, is described and experimental results are presented. We apply the scanning holography technique to three-dimensional reflective objects for the first time to our knowledge and address the unique requirements for such a system. We discuss holographic recording and numerical image reconstruction using a system point-spread function (PSF) approach. We demonstrate numerical image reconstruction of experimentally recorded holograms by two techniques: deconvolution with a simulated PSF and an experimentally acquired PSF.  相似文献

We present a digital signal processing technique that reduces the speckle content in reconstructed digital holograms. The method is based on sequential sampling of the discrete Fourier transform of the reconstructed image field. Speckle reduction is achieved at the expense of a reduced intensity and resolution, but this trade-off is shown to be greatly superior to that imposed by the traditional mean and median filtering techniques. In particular, we show that the speckle can be reduced by half with no loss of resolution (according to standard definitions of both metrics).  相似文献

The paper reports recent progress in developing high speed 3D imaging systems based on low coherence photorefractive holography with high-speed depth-sectioned imaging at 476 frames per second. It is demonstrated that photorefractive holography can utilize a wide variety of sources of differing spatial and temporal coherence, including a novel all-solid-state broadband laser. Also presented is a novel real-time optical sectioning technique based on structured illumination combined with photorefractive holography that provides real-time optical sectioning when imaging with reflected light or with fluorescence.  相似文献

I propose a novel digital technique that reduces defocus noise in the reconstruction of the sectional images from the complex hologram of a thick object. In three-dimensional microscopy applications of holography, reducing the defocused light scattered from outside the focused plane is an important issue. In this technique I first extract a complex hologram of a thick object by using optical scanning holography. After that, I separate the power spectra of the focused and defocused planes from the complex hologram. Finally, I construct a Wiener filter by use of the power spectra. The Wiener filter reduces the defocus noise in the reconstruction of the sectional image of the focused plane. Computer simulations show that the proposed Wiener filter reduces the defocus noise and provides the sectional images.  相似文献

A photorefractive optical processor that uses complementary encoding is presented for the real-time implementation of truth-table lookup. Recording a multiexposure hologram in a photorefractive crystal permits different truth-table patterns to be stored. The processor is capable of performing the functions of full addition, half-addition, subtraction, multiplication, and the calculation of complex multinominal with any number system.  相似文献

This work reports on nonlinear optical properties of some azo-functionalized azulene derivatives. Linear and nonlinear optical absorption, second- and third harmonic generation were used as diagnostic tools. It was demonstrated that light induced a surface pattern on thin films containing the studied compounds. The results indicate an important role of thiazole substitution for enhancing NLO properties of the azulene derivatives.  相似文献

We propose a three-dimensional optical-memory device in which refractive dot data are recorded directly into a photorefractive crystal. To record a single bit of datum, one focuses a laser beam with an objective lens onto a specific spot in a crystal, thereby changing its refractive index locally as a result of photorefraction. To record in three dimensions, one keeps the objective lens stationary while the crystal is translated. The beam-spot intensity is modulated with a beam shutter according to the logic state of the data point. The recorded data points are read with a phase-contrast microscope objective lens. We present experimental results of three-dimensional recording and reading with a LiNbO(3) crystal. The distribution of the refractive index formed by a focused beam is also analyzed with the charge-transport model.  相似文献

Off-axis holograms recorded with a CCD camera are numerically reconstructed with a calculation of scalar diffraction in the Fresnel approximation. We show that the zero order of diffraction and the twin image can be digitally eliminated by means of filtering their associated spatial frequencies in the computed Fourier transform of the hologram. We show that this operation enhances the contrast of the reconstructed images and reduces the noise produced by parasitic reflections reaching the hologram plane with an incidence angle other than that of the object wave.  相似文献

A real-time optical processing system with dual liquid-crystal spatial light modulators is constructed and used as both an amplitude-input device and a multilevel phase-only filter. Fourier analysis is given to show the performance of light efficiency, signal-to-noise ratio, and discrimination capability with the binarization of gray objects. The ratio of the dc power spectrum to the power spectra for input objects is introduced to incorporate the power spectrum into discrimination-capability evaluation. A numerical calculation is performed for gray-level and binarized amplitude-phase correlations. Improvement of the performance criteria has been achieved for an amplitude in a binary mode to a phase correlator. The higher the threshold level of the binarized objects is, the better performance criteria are produced. The effect of illumination over an input object on the autocorrelation maximum is experimentally investigated. Experimental results are presented to support the calculations.  相似文献

We present an experimental implementation of a packaged free-space optical interconnection system by photorefractive correlation. The system consists of a phase code, a LiNbO(3) crystal, two computergenerated-hologram Fourier-transform lenses, and a detector, all mounted on a glass substrate. We present experimental results with a prototype packaged system showing interconnections between 25 inputs and 25 outputs, and we discuss the possibility of applying this packaging technology to interconnections between larger arrays.  相似文献

We have reviewed recent developments of some aspects of optical spatial solitons in photorefractive media. Underlying principles governing the dynamics of photorefractive nonlinearity have been discussed using band transport model. Nonlinear dynamical equations for propagating solitons have been derived considering single as well as two-photon photorefractive processes. Fundamental properties of screening and photovoltaic solitons have been considered. For each type of solitons, three different configurations i.e., bright, dark and gray varieties have been considered. Mechanisms of formation of these solitons due to single as well as two-photon photorefractive processes have been considered and their self bending discussed. Vector solitons, particularly, incoherently coupled solitons due to single photon and two-photon photorefractive phenomena have been highlighted. Existence of some missing solitons have been also pointed out. In addition, incoherent solitons and discrete spatial solitons in optically-induced photorefractive lattices are also discussed.  相似文献

水下声信标信号检测是搜寻黑匣子的重要技术之一。针对水下声信标信号声源级低、脉冲宽度窄所带来的检测难题,充分利用声信标信号周期短、相邻脉冲信号相关性强等特点,提出了一种基于多脉冲积分的改进匹配滤波方法,通过前后脉冲匹配方法克服标准信号匹配处理中因信号畸变带来的匹配处理增益下降,通过多脉冲累积提高积分增益。通过仿真实验验证,当取多脉冲累积数为6时,在理想白噪声环境下,所提改进方法比传统单脉冲匹配滤波检测性能提高约4 dB,特别是在存在明显多普勒影响下,传统方法适应性下降,所提改进方法有9 dB的性能提高。通过对湖上实验数据的处理也验证了所提方法的有效性。  相似文献
