Neutron sources in North America: Present and future

Six neutron sources are available for research in North America. The facilities are funded by their respective governments as user-facilities. User proposals are accepted on a regular basis and if they are success ful in competition with all the other proposals, time is allocated for the experiments. This paper describes the neutron sources and their capabilities. Thomas M. Holden retired from the National Research Council of Canada at Chalk River in 1998. He is currently head of the instrument development team for the VULCAN engineering diffractometer at the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS). Aaron D. Krawitz is professor emeritus in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, and Ian Anderson is Director of Experimental Facilities Division at the SNS at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

铸拉工艺生产钢铝复合导线中拉拔变形的能量法解析

根据铸拉工艺的特点和钢、铝变形性能，假设钢丝为刚性体，同时，假设变形体铝层的流动速度在截面上呈二次函数分布。在此基础上利用流函数建立了变形区速度场，并利用计算机对变形能进行求极小值，得到了变形区的速度分布及拉拔力。计算值与实测值比较吻合。     

高能喷丸铝合金表层晶粒细化机制研究

应用TEM分析技术，详细研究了高能喷丸Al-Zn-Mg合金表层的细微结构。研究认为：Al-Zn-Mg合金表层因喷丸应变量的差别而显示出不同的微观特征。在70μm以上深度范围内，细晶粒、亚晶粒内存在大量位错缠结和位错墙；在40μm至70μm深度范围内，晶内除出现位错墙外，还出现了六角形网络位错而形成更细小的亚晶粒；在40μm至表面层中，出现了由小角度晶界的亚晶转向为大角度晶界的纳米晶。
