Super-sidecut skis are wider at the tip and tail than a traditional ski, and the waist varies depending on the function of the ski. The sidecut influences the performance characteristics of the ski, making it easier to initiate a turn, carve tighter turns, and carve at slower speeds--which translates into more fun. Super-sidecut skis are more sensitive to controlling movements, so you can ski in a more balanced, centered position. There are some compromises in terms of stability and injury risk. With so much variety in super-sidecut skis, controlled population studies will be necessary to track injury trends.  相似文献

Daily saunas taken by a young man were followed by fever, chills, malaise, dyspnea, cough, and myalgia from six to eight hours later. Symptoms, which were related to pouring water from a sauna bucket over the heating element, progressed to chronic dyspnea and fatigue. Serial serum samples showed precipitin reactions to bucket water and extracts of bucket mold. IgG antibody activity, demonstrated by radioimmunoassay, suggested that Pullularia was a major antigen.  相似文献

A rare case of "complex" cardiac myxoma is reported. Complex cardiac myxoma manifests with more constitutional signs than the sporadic type. These constitutional signs are known to be associated with the overproduction of interleukin-6 by cardiac myxomas. In our study, immunohistochemical staining of the myxoma for interleukin-6 was strongly positive. The serum interleukin-6 level decreased after surgical removal of the tumor and has remained undetectable for the past 2 years.  相似文献

Klineberg's (see record 1964-00971-001) discussion of Negro-white differences in intelligence test performance prompts an overdue comment on the Tanser (see record 1942-03711-000) study which Klineberg questions. Tanser stated that Negroes in Kent County, Ontario, were on a level with whites in regard to every social and political advantage. He found Negroes' IQs, nevertheless, lower than whites'. Klineberg doubted that Kent County could be so exceptional. I am sure it is not. Noting that she is probably the only member of APA who was born and grew up in Kent County, the author describes Tanser's population as it was when she went to school with it in the twenties and thirties. The author notes that she cannot conceive of any social advantages which Negroes enjoyed in Kent County at the time of the Tanser study. They did have the political equality contained in the right to vote. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved)  相似文献
