In this paper, a new mixed-mode sustain method to improve the luminous efficiency of alternating current plasma display panels is proposed. An opposite discharge is initiated between successive surface sustain discharges during the sustain period. The opposite discharge not only has a higher ultraviolet photon collection factor, but also improves the surface sustain discharge efficiency for the production of ultraviolet photons. The experimental results show that a 21~59% improvement in luminous efficiency within a sustain voltage range of 170 V to 190 V is achieved by the new mixed-mode sustain driving approach, as compared with the conventional surface-type sustain method 相似文献

This paper describes a new write/erase method for flash memory to improve the read disturb characteristics by means of drastically reducing the stress leakage current in the tunnel oxide. This new write/erase operation method is based on the newly discovered three decay characteristics of the stress leakage current. The features of the proposed write/erase method are as follows: 1) the polarity of the additional pulse after applying write/erase pulse is the same as that of the control gate voltage in the read operation; 2) the voltage of the additional pulse is higher than that of a control gate in a read operation, and lower than that of a control gate in a write operation; and 3) an additional pulse is applied to the control gate just after a completion of the write/erase operation. With the proposed write/erase method, the degradation of the read disturb life time after 106 write/erase cycles can be drastically reduced by 50% in comparison with the conventional bipolarity write/erase method used for NAND type flash memory. Furthermore, the degradation can he drastically reduced by 90% in comparison with the conventional unipolarity write/erase method fur NOR-, AND-, and DINOR-type flash memory. In an increasingly competitive market environment with smaller product offer differentiation, a continuous maximization of efficiency, while guarantying the quality of the provided services, remains a main objective for any telecom operator. In this work, we address the reduction of the operational costs of the optical transport network as one of the possible fields of action to achieve this aim. We propose to apply cognitive science for reducing these costs, specifically by reducing operation margins. We base our work on the case-based reasoning technique by proposing several new schemes to reduce the operation margins established during the design and commissioning phases of the optical links power budgets. From the obtained results, we find that our cognitive proposal provides a feasible solution allowing significant savings on transmitted power that can reach a 49%. We show that there is a certain dependency on network conditions, achieving higher efficiency in low loaded networks where improvements can raise up to 53%. 相似文献

In organic memory devices, we introduce non-interacting “write” and “read” processes so that the state of a device is not perturbed during the “read” process. We have used heterojunction devices based on suitable materials in such a way that they can generate photovoltage and photocurrent upon illumination. Both open-circuit voltage or short-circuit current of the device have responded to conductance switching. We have showed that the device can be switched to a high-conducting state by applying a suitable voltage pulse and its state can be probed or “read” by measuring open-circuit voltage or short-circuit current. With the increased popularity of wireless broadband networks and the growing demand for multimedia applications, such as streaming
video and teleconferencing, there is a need to support diverse multimedia services over the wireless medium. In order to efficiently
address these diverse needs, efforts have been pursued to provide Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms for medium access, resulting
in a standard called IEEE 802.11e. One of the enhancements proposed in IEEE 802.11e is a polling-based access mechanism, which
is targeted for real-time multimedia flows. In this polling-based scheme, scheduling and time allocation are based on flow
reservations. Hence, the effectiveness of the mechanism is heavily dependent on the accuracy of the flow requirements in the
reservation. Flow requirements, however, can vary over time and an allocation based on fixed reservations cannot address this
variability. This limitation, which is present in the reference scheduler of IEEE 802.11e, leads to degraded multimedia quality
for flows with variable requirements, even when channel resources are available.
In order to address the above limitation, we present an adaptation framework that dynamically adjusts the polling-based access
mechanism and associates flows to different modes of access (polling-based/contention-based), according to the current needs
of the application, as opposed to solely relying on the reservation parameters. We demonstrate that with our adaptation, the
achieved QoS for real-time multimedia streams, in terms of delay and throughput metrics, can be significantly improved compared
to other known mechanisms. Additionally, we show the benefits of our adaptation framework on overall multimedia quality and
system capacity.

LED显示屏通常由计算机控制要显示的文字,但其硬件和使用成本都相对较高。设计并制作了一种多功能可擦写式LED点阵显示屏,系统采用STC11F16XE单片机作为主控芯片,用74LS245芯片与CD4515BC译码器组成显示驱动。实现了通过按键切换各种显示模式;利用光电传感器制作的光笔在LED点阵显示屏上可实现如点亮、划亮、反显、整屏擦除、笔画擦除、连写多字等显示功能,并且可以自动调节亮度和自动休眠。实验证明,利用该系统可以扩展成不同大小、内容可随时修改的LED显示屏,并且成本低,具有良好的推广价值。 相似文献

A particularly attractive feature of CDMA wireless systems proposed in the Telecommunication Industry Association's standard IS-95 [1] is their ability to get into what is known as soft handoff. A mobile in soft handoff maintains simultaneous radio links with multiple base-stations which enables it to make use of the best quality leg most of the time. This is believed to result in a reduction of the fade margin that is needed to provide the desired coverage in a given geographical area in the presence of log-normal shadow fading. This paper presents an analysis of fade margins for systems allowing soft handoffs (e.g. CDMA) and those where only hard handoffs are possible (e.g. FDMA, TDMA). The analysis is based on a model for hard handoffs with hysteresis and connection delay and confirms the belief that soft handoffs result in smaller fade margins. 相似文献
