A compact Fano resonant temperature sensor composed of a micro-ring resonator (MRR) coupled double-T-shaped waveguide is developed. The coupling gap and coefficient of the device are optimized by the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The maximum slope ratio (SR) of the MRR-coupled single-T-shaped waveguide is ?2.13 dB/nm. The SR of the double-T-shaped waveguide is ?49.69 dB/nm which is 23 times that of the single-T-shaped waveguide. The simulation results show that the temperature sensitivity of optical intensity decreases with increasing temperature in the range from 303.6 K to 343.8 K. The wavelength-temperature sensitivity of the double-T-shaped waveguide microring is 76.5 pm/K. After introducing the double-T-shaped waveguide structure, the device''s performance is greatly improved, and the double-T-shaped waveguide has a good application prospect as a temperature sensor.  相似文献

An ultra compact triplexing filter was designed based on a silicon on insulator(SOI) nanowire arrayed waveguide grating(AWG) for fiber-to-the-home FTTH.The simulation results revealed that the design performed well in the sense of having a good triplexing function.The designed SOI nanowire AWGs were fabricated using ultraviolet lithography and induced coupler plasma etching.The experimental results showed that the crosstalk was less than -15 dB,and the 3 dB-bandwidth was 11.04 nm.The peak wavelength output from ports a,c,and b were 1455,1510 and 1300 nm,respectively,which deviated from our original expectations.The deviation of the wavelength is mainly caused by 45 nm width deviation of the arrayed waveguides during the course of the fabrication process and partly caused by material dispersion.  相似文献

In this paper, an arrayed liquid prisms system based on electrowetting-on-dielectric (EWOD) is proposed to modulate the three-dimensional beam steering control. The relationships between beam steering control range, electrowetting contact angle, and liquid refractive index are derived. COMSOL is employed to demonstrate the beam steering control properties of the electrowetting-based arrayed liquid prisms when bias voltages are applied. The influence of contact angle, liquid refractive index, and interval between adjacent prisms are discussed. The results show that the beam steering control performance of the system will be greatly improved, and the range of beam steering angle is ?20° to 20° by selecting optimum combinations of liquids and rational interval between adjacent prisms. The arrayed liquid prisms system can succeed to achieve continuous control of beam steering in a conical region with an apex angle of 40°, and the vertex of the circular cone is located at the 15.02 mm in the z-axis. The proposed system will promote the development of non-mechanical beam steering technology and have a wide range of applications.  相似文献

The carbon ion implantation with energy of 4.0 MeV and a dose of 4.0×1014 ions/cm2 is employed for fabricating the optical waveguide in fluoride lead silicate glasses. The optical modes as well as the effective refractive indices are measured by the prism coupling method. The refractive index distribution in the fluoride lead silicate glass waveguide is simulated by the reflectivity calculation method (RCM). The light intensity profile and the energy losses are calculated by the ?nite-difference beam propagation method (FD-BPM) and the program of stopping and range of ions in matter (SRIM), respectively. The propagation properties indicate that the C2+ ion-implanted fluoride lead silicate glass waveguide is a candidate for fabricating optical devices.  相似文献

Based on the electromagnetic field theory,the optical signal transmission characteristics in input/output waveguides,slab waveguides and arrayed waveguides of the arrayed waveguide grating(AWG) multi/demultiplexer are analyzed.The relationship between the physical parameters such as geometry sizes and relative refractive index in AWG multi/demultiplexer and the optical signal transmission characteristics are discussed.This theoretical study can be used for optimizing the design and improving the performance of the AWG multi/demultiplexer.  相似文献

A 25-channel 200 GHz arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) based on Si nanowire waveguides is designed, simulated and fabricated. Transfer function method is used in the simulation and error analysis of AWG with width fluctuations. The 25-channel 200 GHz AWG exhibits central channel insertion loss of 6.7 dB, crosstalk of ?13 dB, and central wavelength of 1 560.55 nm. The error analysis can explain the experimental results of 25-channel 200 GHz AWG well. By using deep ultraviolet lithography (DUV) and inductively coupled plasma etching (ICP) technologies, the devices are fabricated on silicon-on-insulator (SOI) substrate. The effects of the multimode diluted waveguide on quantum efficiency and saturation behavior of the evanescently coupled uni-traveling carrier (UTC) photodiode structures are reported. Two kinds of evanescently coupled uni-traveling carrier photodiodes (EC-UTC-PD) were designed and characterized: one is a conventional EC-UTC-PD structure with a multimode diluted waveguide integrated with a UTC-PD; and the other is a compact EC-UTC-PD structure which fused the multimode diluted waveguide and the UTC-PD structure together. The effect of the absorption behavior of the photodiodes on the efficiency and saturation characteristics of the EC-UTC-PDs is analyzed using 3-D beam propagation method, and the results indicate that both the responsivity and saturation power of the compact EC-UTC-PD structures can be further improved by incorporating an optimized compact multimode diluted waveguide.  相似文献

An initial structure design of MMI 1×8 optical power splitters is reported.The waveguide material is Si-based SiO_2 Ge-doped and deposited by PECVD method.Embedded strip structure is implied in the section design.By using BPM-CAD,a favorable result is obtained that this device has a sound uniformity and fairly low loss.Meanwhile,simulations of designs with certain changed parameters is also implemented for a better design configuration.  相似文献

Based on transmission theory, a 17×17 polymer arrayed waveguide grating(AWG) multiplexer parameter optimization is performed, and the influence of the fabrication results on the transmission characteristics are analyzed. In this paper, we mainly discuss three of the main errors in the fabrication of polymer AWG devices. One is n1, which is caused by the tuning of the core refractive index n1, the second is b, which results from the rotating-coating of the core thickness b, and the other is the non-ideal core cross-section, which is caused by steam redissolution. The effects of the above fabrication errors on the transmission characteristics of the AWG device are investigated, and compensation techniques are proposed. By comparing the theoretical simulation and experimental results, the shift in the transmission spectrum is reduced by 0.028 nm, the 3 dB bandwidth is increased by about 0.036 nm, the insertion loss is reduced by about 3 dB for the central channel and 4.5 dB for the edge channels, and the crosstalk is reduced by 1.5 dB.  相似文献

Ridge waveguide served as a microwave excited discharge apparatus and the slot-array coupling plate are designed.Discharge experiment of CO2 laser mixture is performed in the ridge waveguide.In a 380mm long,cross section 3×28mm2 discharge channel,uniform discarge is excited by 2.45 GHz microwave,and within a pressure range 1KPa-9KPa,the discharge can be uniformly sustained.The experiment results show that this microwave discharge design is adequate to excite long uniform plasma column for gas lasers.  相似文献

A 45-channel 100 GHz arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) based on Si nanowire waveguides is designed, simulated and fabricated. Transfer function method is used in the spectrum simulation. The simulated results show that the central wavelength and channel spacing are 1 562.1 nm and 0.8 nm, respectively, which are in accord with the designed values, and the crosstalk is about ?23 dB. The device is fabricated on silicon-on-insulator (SOI) substrate by deep ultraviolet lithography (DUV) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) etching technologies. The 45-channel 100 GHz AWG exhibits insertion loss of 6.5 dB and crosstalk of ?8 dB. By employing 2D plane wave expansion (PWE) and finite difference time domain (FDTD) methods, a photonic crystal waveguide (PCW) based on the compound square lattice structure is presented. Band-gap can be observed for TM polarization and compared with the simple lattice structure based on the same material the band-gap is increased by 62.7%. By optimizing the parameters we get the PCW with the propagation only near the wavelength of 1.55 μm and a flat group index curve in a wide wavelength range of 40 nm. And the group velocity dispersion compensation can be realized by the structure optimization. The results provide a reference for the study and application ofphotonic crystal waveguide based on the compound lattice structure.  相似文献

1.3-μm 1 × 4 MM1 coupler is designed and fabricated on an InP substrate based on a shallow etched waveguide structure. Tapered input/output waveguides and a bending waveguide design are adopted and applied in the device to optimize the performance. The average excess losses of the 1 × 4 MMI coupler per channel are 2.8, 1.7, 2.9, and 2.9 dB, respectively. The smallest excess loss can be lower than 0.5 dB in the 40-nm spectrum bandwidth. The average uniformity between the four channels of the MMI coupler is 1.3 dB, while the smallest uniformity is only 0.4 dB.  相似文献

The design,fabrication and performance of 1.3цm superluminescent diodes are reported.A InP window structure and a passive absorber waveguide in different plane are applied to suppress lasing oscillation.A buried crescent structure similar to a laser diode is introduced to achieve high output power.The output power of about 700цW is coupled into a single-mode fiber at 150mA and 25℃.Spectrum width is more than 30nm.The devices operate in superluminescent state in the range from0℃to 60℃.  相似文献

In order to reduce transmission loss of the optical waveguide in Mach-Zehnder (M-Z) electro-optical (EO) polymer modulator,the basic iterative formula of semi-vector finite-difference beam propagation method (FD-BPM) is obtained from the scalar wave equation. The transition waveguide is combined with S-type bend branch waveguide for the M-Z EO modulator in the branch waveguide. The effects of structure parameters such as ridge width,length of the branch waveguide and interferometer spacing on the transmission loss are systematically studied by using the semi-vector FD-BPM method. The structure is optimized as an S-sine bend branch waveguide,with rib width w=7μm,length of branch waveguide L=1200μm and interferometer spacing G=22 μm. The results show that the optimized structure can reduce transmission loss to 0.083 dB,which have a certain reference value to the design of optical waveguide in M-Z polymer modulator.  相似文献

Optical scattering loss coefficient of muhimode rectangular waveguide is analyzed in this work. First, the effective refrac tive index and the mode field distribution of waveguide modes are obtained using the Marcatili method. The influence on scattering loss coefficient by waveguide surface roughness is then analyzed. Finally, the mode coupling efficiency for the SMFOpticalWaveguide (SOW) structure and MMFOptical Waveguide (MOW) structure are presented. The total scatter ing loss coefficient depends on modes scattering loss coeffi cients and the mode coupling efficiency between fiber and waveguide. The simulation results show that the total scatter ing loss coefficient for the MOW structure is affected more strongly by surface roughness than that for the SOW struc ture. The total scattering loss coefficient of waveguide decreas es from 3.97 x 10^-2 dB/cm to 2.96 x 10^-4 dB/cm for the SOW structure and from 5.24 - 10^-2 dB/cm to 4.7 x 10^-4 dB/ cm for the MOW structure when surface roughness is from 300nm to 20nm and waveguide length is 100cm.  相似文献

A waveguide crossing utilizing a high index contrast material system is presented. The structure is based on coupling with an octagonal resonant cavity inserted at the waveguide junction. It also employs four identical square metal strips placed at the four comers of the waveguide crossing. The spectral response of the structure calculated using the method of line numerical technique, in general, shows a high power transmission in the forward arm with sufficiently low crosstalk and fraction of radiated power.  相似文献

A Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) for simultaneously measuring refractive index (RI) and temperature is proposed and verified in this paper. The sensor head is composed of thin core fiber (TCF) S-taper structure and spherical structure. By monitoring two interference dips, experimental results show that the RI sensitivities are ?70.392 nm/RIU and ?60.08 nm/RIU in the RI range of 1.338 4—1.350 0, respectively. And the temperature sensitivities are 0.050 72 nm/°C and 0.071 7 nm/°C in the temperature range of 30—70 °C, respectively. The simultaneous measurement of the temperature and external RI is demonstrated based on the sensitive matrix. The sensor also has the advantages of low cost, simple structure and high sensitivity.  相似文献
