The development of flexible and stretchable electronics has attracted intensive attention for their promising applications in next‐generation wearable functional devices. However, these stretchable devices that are made in a conventional planar format have largely hindered their development, especially in highly stretchable conditions. Herein, a novel type of highly stretchable, fiber‐based triboelectric nanogenerator (fiber‐like TENG) for power generation is developed. Owing to the advanced structural designs, including the fiber‐convolving fiber and the stretchable electrodes on elastic silicone rubber fiber, the fiber‐like TENG can be operated at stretching mode with high strains up to 70% and is demonstrated for a broad range of applications such as powering a commercial capacitor, LCD screen, digital watch/calculator, and self‐powered acceleration sensor. This work verifies the promising potential of a novel fiber‐based structure for both power generation and self‐powered sensing.  相似文献

Stretchable physical sensors that can detect and quantify human physiological signals such as temperature, are essential to the realization of healthcare devices for biomedical monitoring and human–machine interfaces. Despite recent achievements in stretchable electronic sensors using various conductive materials and structures, the design of stretchable sensors in optics remains a considerable challenge. Here, an optical strategy for the design of stretchable temperature sensors, which can maintain stable performance even under a strain deformation up to 80%, is reported. The optical temperature sensor is fabricated by the incorporation of thermal‐sensitive upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) in stretchable polymer‐based optical fibers (SPOFs). The SPOFs are made from stretchable elastomers and constructed in a step‐index core/cladding structure for effective light confinements. The UCNPs, incorporated in the SPOFs, provide thermal‐sensitive upconversion emissions at dual wavelengths for ratiometric temperature sensing by near‐infrared excitation, while the SPOFs endow the sensor with skin‐like mechanical compliance and excellent light‐guiding characteristics for laser delivery and emission collection. The broad applications of the proposed sensor in real‐time monitoring of the temperature and thermal activities of the human body, providing optical alternatives for wearable health monitoring, are demonstrated.  相似文献

Mimicking the skin's non‐linear self‐limiting mechanical characteristics is of great interest. Skin is soft at low strain but becomes stiff at high strain and thereby can protect human tissues and organs from high mechanical loads. Herein, the design of a skin‐inspired substrate is reported based on a spaghetti‐like multi‐nanofiber network (SMNN) of elastic polyurethane (PU) nanofibers (NFs) sandwiched between stiff poly(vinyldenefluoride‐co‐trifluoroethylene) (P(VDF‐TrFE)) NFs layers embedded in polydimethylsiloxane elastomer. The elastic moduli of the stretchable skin‐inspired substrate can be tuned in a range that matches well with the mechanical properties of skins by adjusting the loading ratios of the two NFs. Confocal imaging under stretching indicates that PU NFs help maintain the stretchability while adding stiff P(VDF‐TrFE) NFs to control the self‐limiting characteristics. Interestingly, the Au layer on the substrate indicates a negligible change in the resistance under cyclic (up to 7000 cycles at 35% strain) and dynamic stretching (up to 35% strain), which indicates the effective absorption of stress by the SMNN. A stretchable chemoresistive gas sensor on the skin‐inspired substrate also demonstrates a reasonable stability in NO2 sensing response under strain up to 30%. The skin‐inspired substrate with SMNN provides a step toward ultrathin stretchable electronics.  相似文献

Although a variety of stretchable strain sensors based on electrical percolation have been reported, stretchable sensors detecting low strains have been rarely demonstrated. This is because large stretchability of a strain sensor conflicts with high strain resolution at low strains. Here, the electrical percolation into 2D is confined and a strain sensor that is highly sensitive at low strains and simultaneously highly stretchable is presented. The 2D confinement of the electrical percolation is accomplished by a close‐packed monolayer assembly of conductive microparticles (MPs) on an elastomer substrate. The current profiles of the MP monolayer at low strains are in situ visualized using conductive atomic force microscopy. When the lattice of the MP monolayer is aligned vertically to the strain direction, the resistance is highly sensitive to low‐strain deformations (ε = 0 – 0.05), but the sensor has reasonable stretchability (ε = 0.3). The simultaneous achievement of the high sensitivity at low strains and the reasonable stretchability is explained by the relationship between the strain‐dependent current profile and the relative position changes of the MPs. A high‐precision pulse sensor clearly showing the representative peaks is demonstrated.  相似文献

The development of stretchable/soft electronics requires power sources that can match their stretchability. In this study, a highly stretchable, transparent, and environmentally stable triboelectric nanogenerator with ionic conductor electrodes (iTENG) is reported. The ion‐conducting elastomer (ICE) electrode, together with a dielectric elastomer electrification layer, allows the ICE‐iTENG to achieve a stretchability of 1036% and transmittance of 91.5%. Most importantly, the ICE is liquid solvent‐free and thermally stable up to 335 °C, avoiding the dehydration‐induced performance degradation of commonly used hydrogels. The ICE‐iTENG shows no decrease in electrical output even after storing at 100 °C for 15 h. Biomechanical motion energies are demonstrated to be harvested by the ICE‐iTENG for powering wearable electronics intermittently without extra power sources. An ICE‐iTENG‐based pressure sensor is also developed with sensitivity up to 2.87 kPa?1. The stretchable ICE‐iTENG overcomes the strain‐induced performance degradation using percolated electrical conductors and liquid evaporation‐induced degradation using ion‐conducting hydrogels/ionogels, suggesting great promising applications in soft/stretchable electronics under a relatively wider temperature range.  相似文献

Stretchable/wearable strain sensors are attracting growing interest due to their broad applications in physical and physiological measurements. However, the development of a multifunctional highly stretchable sensor satisfying the requirements of ultrahigh sensitivity (able to distinguish sound frequency) remains a challenge. An ultrasensitive and highly stretchable multifunctional strain sensor with timbre‐recognition ability based on high‐crack‐density vertical graphene (VGr) is fabricated using an ultrasonic peeling (UP) method. It can distinguish frequencies of sounds higher than 2500 Hz. Detailed microscopic examinations reveal that their ultrahigh sensitivity stems from the formation of high‐density nanocracks in the graphitic base layer, which is bridged by the top branched VGr nanowalls. These nanocracks cut the VGr film into a large number of nanopieces, which increase the natural frequency of the sensors, enabling the sensors to distinguish the sound frequency. Demonstrations are presented to highlight the sensors' potential as wearable devices for human physiological signal and timbre detections. This is the first multifunctional highly stretchable strain sensor with timbre‐recognition ability.  相似文献

Energy‐harvesting electronic skin (E‐skin) is highly promising for sustainable and self‐powered interactive systems, wearable human health monitors, and intelligent robotics. Flexible/stretchable electrodes and robust energy‐harvesting components are critical in constructing soft, wearable, and energy‐autonomous E‐skin systems. A stretchable energy‐harvesting tactile interactive interface is demonstrated using liquid metal nanoparticles (LM‐NPs)‐based electrodes. This stretchable energy‐harvesting tactile interface relies on triboelectric nanogenerator composed of a galinstan LM‐NP‐based stretchable electrode and patterned elastic polymer friction and encapsulation layer. It provides stable and high open‐circuit voltage (268 V), short‐circuit current (12.06 µA), and transferred charges (103.59 nC), which are sufficient to drive commercial portable electronics. As a self‐powered tactile sensor, it presents satisfactory and repeatable sensitivity of 2.52 V·kPa?1 and is capable of working as a touch interactive keyboard. The demonstrated stretchable and robust energy‐harvesting E‐skin using LM‐NP‐based electrodes is of great significance in sustainable human–machine interactive system, intelligent robotic skin, security tactile switches, etc.  相似文献

The development of wearable and large‐area fabric energy harvester and sensor has received great attention due to their promising applications in next‐generation autonomous and wearable healthcare technologies. Here, a new type of “single” thread‐based triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) and its uses in elastically textile‐based energy harvesting and sensing have been demonstrated. The energy‐harvesting thread composed by one silicone‐rubber‐coated stainless‐steel thread can extract energy during contact with skin. With sewing the energy‐harvesting thread into a serpentine shape on an elastic textile, a highly stretchable and scalable TENG textile is realized to scavenge various kinds of human‐motion energy. The collected energy is capable to sustainably power a commercial smart watch. Moreover, the simplified single triboelectric thread can be applied in a wide range of thread‐based self‐powered and active sensing uses, including gesture sensing, human‐interactive interfaces, and human physiological signal monitoring. After integration with microcontrollers, more complicated systems, such as wireless wearable keyboards and smart beds, are demonstrated. These results show that the newly designed single‐thread‐based TENG, with the advantage of interactive, responsive, sewable, and conformal features, can meet application needs of a vast variety of fields, ranging from wearable and stretchable energy harvesters to smart cloth‐based articles.  相似文献

Realization of sensing multidirectional strains is essential to understanding the nature of complex motions. Traditional uniaxial strain sensors lack the capability to detect motions working in different directions, limiting their applications in unconventional sensing technology areas, like sophisticated human–machine interface and real‐time monitoring of dynamic body movements. Herein, a stretchable multidirectional strain sensor is developed using highly aligned, anisotropic carbon nanofiber (ACNF) films via a facile, low‐cost, and scalable electrospinning approach. The fabricated strain sensor exhibits semitransparency, good stretchability of over 30%, outstanding durability for over 2500 cycles, and remarkable anisotropic strain sensing performance with maximum gauge factors of 180 and 0.3 for loads applied parallel and perpendicular to fiber alignment, respectively. Cross‐plied ACNF strain sensors are fabricated by orthogonally stacking two single‐layer ACNFs, which present a unique capability to distinguish the directions and magnitudes of strains with a remarkable selectivity of 3.84, highest among all stretchable multidirectional strain sensors reported so far. Their unconventional applications are demonstrated by detecting multi‐degrees‐of‐freedom synovial joint movements of the human body and monitoring wrist movements for systematic improvement of golf performance. The potential applications of novel multidirectional sensors reported here may shed new light into future development of next‐generation soft, flexible electronics.  相似文献

Liquid‐metal (LM)‐based flexible and stretchable electronics have attracted widespread interest in wearable computing, human–machine interaction, and soft robotics. However, many current examples are one‐off prototypes, whereas future implementation requires mass production. To address this critical challenge, an integrated multimaterial 3D printing process composed of direct ink writing (DIW) of sealing silicone elastomer and special LM‐silicone (LMS) inks for manufacturing high‐performance LM‐based flexible and stretchable electronics is presented. The LMS ink is a concentrated mixture of LM microdroplets and silicone elastomer and exhibits excellent printability for DIW printing. Guided by a verified theoretical model, a printing process with high resolution and high speed can be easily implemented. Although LMS is not initially conductive, it can be activated by pressing or freezing. Activated LMS possesses good conductivity and significant electrical response to strain. Owing to LMS's unique structure, LMS‐embedded flexible electronics exhibit great damage mitigation, in that no leaking occurs even when damaged. To demonstrate the flexibility of this process in fabricating LM‐based flexible electronics, multilayer soft circuits, strain sensors, and data gloves are printed and investigated. Notably, utilizing LMS's unique activating property, some functional circuits such as one‐time pressing/freezing‐on switch can be printed without any structural design.  相似文献

Textile‐based electronic techniques that can in real‐time and noncontact detect the respiration rate and respiratory arrest are highly desired for human health monitoring. Yarn‐shaped humidity sensor is fabricated based on a sensitive fiber with relatively high specific surface area and abnormal cross‐section. The response and recovery time of the yarn‐shaped humidity sensor is only 3.5 and 4 s, respectively, with little hysteresis, because of the hydrophobic property of these functional fibers and the grooves on the surface of the fibers, which is much faster than those of the commercial polyimide materials. Moreover, a battery‐free LC wireless testing system combined with the yarn‐shaped sensor is fabricated, which is further successfully imbedded into the intelligent mask to detect human breath. Based on the detection of LC wireless testing system, the frequency of 50.25 MHz under the exhaled condition shifts to 50.86 MHz under the inhaled situation of humidity sensor. In essence, the functional yarns with proper structure, would be an excellent candidature to the yarn‐shaped humidity sensor, in which there are good performance and wide application possibilities, eventually offering a facile method for the wireless detection of human physiological signals in the field of electronic fabrics.  相似文献

An electronic skin (e‐skin) that can detect both normal and tangential forces with a differentiable signals output is essential for wearable electronics. A flexible, stretchable, and highly sensitive tactile sensor is presented that enables the detection of both normal and tangential forces, with specific opposite and thus easily being differentiated resistance changing outputs. The e‐skin, which is based on two‐sublayered carbon nanotubes (CNTs)/graphene oxide (GO) hybrid 3D conductive networks, that are anchored on a thin porous polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) layer, is synthesized via a porogen (GO wrapped NaCl) assisted self‐assembling process. The fabricated CNTs/GO@PDMS‐based e‐skin shows superior sensitivity (gauge factor of 2.26 under a pressure loading of 1 kPa) to tangential force, moderate sensitivity (?0.31 kPa?1 at 0.05–3.8 kPa, and ?0.03 kPa?1 at 3.8–6.3 kPa, respectively) to normal force, and a high‐reproducible response over 5000 loading cycles including stretching, bending, and shearing. For applications, the e‐skin can not only detect wrist pulsing, discriminating different roughness of surfaces, but also produce an obvious responding to an extremely slight ticking (<20 mg) from a feather, and even can real‐timely monitor human's breath and music in rhythm.  相似文献

Zn‐air batteries (ZABs) offer promising commercialization perspectives for stretchable and wearable electronic devices as they are environment‐friendly and have high theoretical energy density. However, current devices suffer from limited energy efficiency and durability because of the sluggish oxygen reduction and evolution reactions kinetics in the air cathode as well as degenerative stretchability of solid‐state electrolytes under highly alkaline conditions. Herein, excellent bifunctional catalytic activity and cycling stability is achieved by using a newly developed Co–N–C nanomaterial with a uniform virus‐like structure, prepared via a facile carbonization of a prussian blue analogue (PBA). Furthermore, a solid‐state dual‐network sodium polyacrylate and cellulose (PANa‐cellulose) based hydrogel electrolyte is synthesized with good alkaline‐tolerant stretchability. A solid‐state fiber‐shaped ZAB fabricated using this hydrogel electrolyte, the virus‐like Co–N–Cs air cathode, and a zinc spring anode display excellent stretchability of up to 500% strain without damage, and outstanding electrochemical performance with 128 mW cm?2 peak power density and good cycling stability for >600 cycles at 2 mA. The facile synthesis strategy demonstrated here opens up a new avenue for developing highly active PBA‐derived catalyst and shows, for the first time, that virus‐like structure can be favorable for electrochemical performance.  相似文献

Highly stretchable, high‐mobility, and free‐standing coplanar‐type all‐organic transistors based on deformable solid‐state elastomer electrolytes are demonstrated using ionic thermoplastic polyurethane (i‐TPU), thereby showing high reliability under mechanical stimuli as well as low‐voltage operation. Unlike conventional ionic dielectrics, the i‐TPU electrolyte prepared herein has remarkable characteristics, i.e., a large specific capacitance of 5.5 µF cm?2, despite the low weight ratio (20 wt%) of the ionic liquid, high transparency, and even stretchability. These i‐TPU‐based organic transistors exhibit a mobility as high as 7.9 cm2 V?1 s?1, high bendability (Rc, radius of curvature: 7.2 mm), and good stretchability (60% tensile strain). Moreover, they are suitable for low‐voltage operation (VDS = ?1.0 V, VGS = ?2.5 V). In addition, the electrical characteristics such as mobility, on‐current, and threshold voltage are maintained even in the concave and convex bending state (bending tensile strain of ≈3.4%), respectively. Finally, free‐standing, fully stretchable, and semi‐transparent coplanar‐type all‐organic transistors can be fabricated by introducing a poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonic acid layer as source/drain and gate electrodes, thus achieving low‐voltage operation (VDS = ?1.5 V, VGS = ?2.5 V) and an even higher mobility of up to 17.8 cm2 V?1 s?1. Moreover, these devices withstand stretching up to 80% tensile strain.  相似文献

A stretchable‐rubber‐based (SR‐based) triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) is developed that can not only harvest energy but also serve as self‐powered multifunctional sensors. It consists of a layer of elastic rubber and a layer of aluminum film that acts as the electrode. By stretching and releasing the rubber, the changes of triboelectric charge distribution/density on the rubber surface relative to the aluminum surface induce alterations to the electrical potential of the aluminum electrode, leading to an alternating charge flow between the aluminum electrode and the ground. The unique working principle of the SR‐based TENG is verified by the coupling of numerical calculations and experimental measurements. A comprehensive study is carried out to investigate the factors that may influence the output performance of the SR‐based TENG. By integrating the devices into a sensor system, it is capable of detecting movements in different directions. Moreover, the SR‐based TENG can be attached to a human body to detect diaphragm breathing and joint motion. This work largely expands the applications of TENG not only as effective power sources but also as active sensors; and opens up a new prospect in future electronics.  相似文献

The long application life and stable performance of stretchable electronics have been putting forward requirements for both higher mechanical properties and better self‐healing ability of polymeric substrates. However, for self‐healing materials, simultaneously improving stretchability and robustness is still challenging. Here, by incorporating sliding crosslinker (polyrotaxanes) and hydrogen bonds into a polymer, a highly stretchable and self‐healable elastomer with good mechanical strength is achieved. The elastomer exhibits very high stretchability, such that it can be stretched to 2800% with a fracture strength of 1.05 MPa. Moreover, the elastomer can achieve nearly complete self‐healing (93%) at 55 °C. Next, tensile tests under different temperatures, step extension experiments, and in situ small angle X‐ray scattering confirm that the excellent stretchability is attributed to the combined effects of sliding cyclodextrins along guest chains and hydrogen bonds. Furthermore, a strain sensor by coating the single‐wall carbon nanotubes onto the surface of the elastic substrate is fabricated.  相似文献

Soft features in electronic devices have provided an opportunity of gleaning a wide spectrum of intimate biosignals. Lack of data processing tools in a soft form, however, proclaims the need of bulky wires or low‐performance near‐field communication externally linked to a “rigid” processor board, thus tarnishing the true meaning of “soft” electronics. Furthermore, although of rising interest in stretchable hybrid electronics, lack of consideration in multilayer, miniaturized design and system‐level data computing limits their practical use. The results presented here form the basis of fully printable, system‐level soft electronics for practical data processing and computing with advanced capabilities of universal circuit design and multilayer device integration into a single platform. Single droplet printing‐based integration of rigid islands and core–shell vertical interconnect access (via) into a common soft matrix with a symmetric arrangement leads to a double‐side universal soft electronic platform that features site‐selective, simultaneous double‐side strain isolation, and vertical interconnection, respectively. Systematic studies of island‐morphology engineering, surface‐strain mapping, and electrical analysis of the platform propose optimized designs. Commensurate with the universal layout, a complete example of double‐side integrated, stretchable 1 MHz binary decoders comprised of 36 logic gates interacting with 9 vias is demonstrated by printing‐based, double‐side electronic functionalization.  相似文献

There is a growing demand for flexible and soft electronic devices. In particular, stretchable, skin‐mountable, and wearable strain sensors are needed for several potential applications including personalized health‐monitoring, human motion detection, human‐machine interfaces, soft robotics, and so forth. This Feature Article presents recent advancements in the development of flexible and stretchable strain sensors. The article shows that highly stretchable strain sensors are successfully being developed by new mechanisms such as disconnection between overlapped nanomaterials, crack propagation in thin films, and tunneling effect, different from traditional strain sensing mechanisms. Strain sensing performances of recently reported strain sensors are comprehensively studied and discussed, showing that appropriate choice of composite structures as well as suitable interaction between functional nanomaterials and polymers are essential for the high performance strain sensing. Next, simulation results of piezoresistivity of stretchable strain sensors by computational models are reported. Finally, potential applications of flexible strain sensors are described. This survey reveals that flexible, skin‐mountable, and wearable strain sensors have potential in diverse applications while several grand challenges have to be still overcome.  相似文献

Crystalline Si nanowire (SiNW) springs, produced via a low temperature (<350 °C) thin film technology, are ideal building blocks for stretchable electronics. Herein, a novel cyclic crystallographic‐index‐lowering self‐turning and twin dynamics is reported, during a tin‐catalyzed in‐plane growth of SiNWs, which results in a periodic zigzag SiNW without any external parametric intervention. More interestingly, a unique twin‐reflected interlaced crystal‐domain structure has been identified for the first time, while in situ and real‐time scanning electron microscopy observations reveal a new twin‐triggering growth mechanism that is the key to reset a complete zigzag growth cycle. Direct “stress–strain” testing of the SiNW springs demonstrates a large stretchability of 12% under tensile loading, indicating a whole new strategy and capability to engineer mono‐like SiNW channels for high performance stretchable electronics.  相似文献

Stretchable interconnects with invariable conductivity and complete elasticity, which return to their original shape without morphological hysteresis, are attractive for the development of stretchable electronics. In this study, a polydimethylsiloxane‐coated multifilament polyurethane‐based helical conductive fiber is developed. The stretchable helical fibers exhibit remarkable electrical performance under stretching, negligible electrical and mechanical hysteresis, and high electrical reliability under repetitive deformation (10 000 cycles of stretching with 100% strain). The resistance of the helical fibers barely increases until the applied strain reaches the critical strain, which is based on the helical diameter of each fiber. According to finite element analysis, uniform stress distribution is maintained in the helical fibers even under full stretching, owing to the fibers' true helix structure. In addition, the stretchable helical fibers have the ability to completely return to their original shapes even after being fully compressed in the vertical direction. Cylinder‐shaped connecting pieces made using 3D printing are designed for stable connection between the helical fibers and commercial components. A deformable light‐emitting diode (LED) array and biaxially stretchable LED display are fabricated using helical fibers. A skin‐mountable band‐type oximeter with helical fiber‐based electrodes is also fabricated and used to demonstrate real‐time detection of cardiac activities and analysis of brain activities.  相似文献
