A new class of permanent-magnet (PM) machines, named memory motors for their ability to change the intensity of magnetization and memorize the flux density level in rotor magnets is described in the article. A memory motor can be built either as a variable-flux or pole-changing machine. In both machine types, the magnetization of PMs can be simply varied by a short current pulse, with no need for permanent demagnetizing current as in conventional internal PM machines at flux-weakening mode. The demagnetizing current flows through stator winding(s) supplied from the same source as the stator current. Memory motors combine advantages of a wound-rotor machine (variable rotor flux) with those of a wide-speed machine (no excitation losses), resulting in a unique machine concept that has the potential to find numerous applications in electric drives. 相似文献

A dynamic model for simulation of the transient interaction between radially oriented permanent magnet-type synchronous machines and their corresponding transistorized current source power conditioners is presented. Some key machine parameters used in this dynamic model were obtained from finite element field solutions. This dynamic model was used to obtain the transient interaction between a 15-hp samarium cobalt radially oriented permanent magnet electronically operated synchronous machine and its corresponding power conditioner. This machine was constructed for electric vehicle propulsion. Excellent correlation between various digitally simulated and actual test current and voltage waveforms, in various branches of the machine-conditioner network, has been achieved. These results are given. This modeling approach is applied to machines during the design stage, where the finite element modeling is the only way to obtain the necessary machine parameters for dynamic simulation. It is shown how such a combination of the computer-aided design tools can help in prevention of design mis-judgements that can prove costly to remedy once the hardware is in place. This is done through an actual design example of an additional machine being manufactured for electric propulsion applications. 相似文献

This article describes a novel measuring inductance strategy on direct current (DC) machines. Measuring self‐inductance and mutual‐inductance in rotating machines is always a very challenging task over a few decades. A significant challenge in modeling electric machines is to obtain their variables and parameters as accurate as possible. The method developed in this paper using a DC source for measuring the inductance in a DC machine overcomes some problems associated with traditional methods by using an alternating current source. In particular, it enables the field winding to carry its rated DC. This approach has demonstrated the feasibility of taking measurements for inductance in a DC machine and providing its field current that is sufficient to lead magnetic saturation, such that the flux can be kept the same as the supplied flux to the running DC machine. The proposed method for measuring both self‐inductance and mutual inductance of the DC machine armature winding coils has played a main role in modeling DC machines under a wide range of operating conditions.
