This paper deals with the application of web-based technologies to power engineering education in an interactive student/mentor environment. The modern teaching/learning concepts and new technologies to support these concepts have been developed. This project incorporates web-based tools, including Internet, videoconferencing, and educational intelligent system modules for power engineering education. Different student learning styles are adapted for power engineering applications. The proposed interactive learning environment allows the mentor and students to best utilize the facilities for effective teaching and learning.  相似文献

This paper describes a web-based portal of peer-ranked sites on power engineering for educational purposes. It is a free and open resource consortium for faculty and students in power engineering. As the Internet is developing into a main educational tool, this multimedia-based application offers the educator and the student access to numerous power engineering resources. While it is possible to obtain information using one of the many popular Internet search engines, the results may not be relevant to the desired search topic. The portal described in this paper has individual hyperlinks to various web sites on power engineering that have previously been reviewed and ranked by both established faculty and students according to the versatility of each site. Peer-ranking influences the users' choice for extracting relevant information. Qualitative and quantitative statistical indexes are utilized to rank the web sites. Educators may use the resources available on the portal for educational purposes in a classroom setting. An analysis of the effectiveness of this portal on power engineering education is also offered in the paper.  相似文献

Traditional methods to measure power system harmonics employ the power harmonic analyzer or a software package, such as Matlab or others, but they do have certain limitations in the graphical programming environment, applications for remote monitoring and control performance. This paper presents a virtual instrument (VI) that can carry out power system harmonic measurement based on fast Fourier transform (FFT) in remote surveillance capability via the Internet. The strategies and guidelines are also developed to enhance teaching and/or learning the basics of operating Internet-based systems. Critical issues pertaining to engineering education, such as design of course, expected learning outcomes, assessment of student performance, and course evaluation are discussed in detail.  相似文献

Students are using the Internet as a primary source of information when researching topics for reports, presentations, or research. Because of the vast amount of data currently available, students need assistance developing an approach to gather this information. Without a proper plan on how to obtain information, they will waste countless hours, and become very frustrated at the process. This paper describes several methods for searching for technical information on the Internet, as related to both electrical engineering and electrical and computer engineering technology (ECET). These methods were presented to students in several ECET classes at New Jersey Institute of Technology. The students were then required to develop presentations on technical topics within their discipline, using several of the sites described in this paper. This paper also suggests a hierarchy in using these various methods, depending on the type of search required. While the initial concept in developing these techniques was to present a method for student information gathering on the Internet, the author has used many of these techniques for class lectures, as well as research topics. Therefore, the techniques presented in this paper are also pertinent to faculty research and teaching.  相似文献

Engineering education has placed its major emphasis on developing graduates with a high degree of technical competence in the traditional engineering disciplines. However, society's expectations for the role of an engineer now reflect the increased concern for inclusion of social policy considerations in engineering decision making. Engineering education must respond to these changes so that engineers will be better prepared to meet today's changes. The authors have focused their discussion on suggested modifications to the power system engineering curriculum as an example of the changing needs of a typical engineering program. The paper discusses some of the limitations the authors perceive in the present education of most power system engineers including a lack of study of nontraditional alternatives to central station power generation. Many of the suggested topics can be added to existing courses; for example, power system planning which could be expanded to cover topics such as load management systems and innovative rate designs which influence load patterns. The addition to the curriculum of a course which provides engineers with a broad overview of the laws affecting engineering decisions and the social policy these laws seek to implement is recommended. Such a course should broaden an engineer's perspective of his/her role in society. The authors feel that this overall proposal is responsive to the needs to be faced by many of the future power engineering graduates. The suggested curriculum changes and additions should aid power system engineers in understanding their role in solving society's energy-related problems.  相似文献

This invited paper was presented at the Second Panamerican Congress of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. A one-year graduate program in electric power engineering has been in operation at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute since the fall of 1962; it has been quite successful, with the number of participating students increasing tenfold in this five-year period, from three students in 1962 to thirty-five students in 1967. Among a total 10 percent of students from outside the United States in the program, some are from South American countries. This program is based on engineering education, with emphasis on the electrical phase, acquired in studies leading to a first degree on the bachelor level. Completion of the program results in the Master of Engineering degree. The students devote about half of their time to electric power engineering topics, and the other half to advanced studies covering engineering economics, mathematics, and applied physics. A suggested syllabus includes a variety of recommended courses which enable the student to develop a coordinated program that is general enough to provide a well-rounded foundation for continued studies in specialized areas.  相似文献

电力物联网的建设促进了电力系统各个方面的数据集成,但对电网系统的网络安全提出了较高要求,因此在电力物联网安全技术的基础上,提出了一种基于随机巡视的电力物联网安全行为异常检测方法。通过对网络节点进行编号管理,为不同信誉值的节点设计了不同的随机巡视频率,汇聚节点检测异常行为。通过仿真分析了文中方法在安全性和恶意节点检测方面的性能。结果表明,文中提出的检测方法能够及时有效地检测异常行为和恶意节点,降低了网络能耗,满足电力物联网的安全需求。  相似文献

Electrical and computer engineering (ECE) courses are usually structured in such a way to provide the student with the basics to solve problems in the field and then challenge the student with increasingly more difficult problems to effectively stretch those basic problem-solving approaches into more advanced techniques. While most of this problem-solving focus is placed on the technical arena, this is only one part of the educational experience for an ECE student. There are many nontechnical facets to one problem-solving repertoire that require development to become a successful practicing engineer in industry or academia after graduation. This article serves to provide some of these facets in a career-direction informational guide to junior- and senior-level undergraduate students and graduate students early in their ECE career. It also serves as a guide to outline some useful strategies not found in an engineering text to maximize one's educational experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as the transition between them.  相似文献

This paper presents a wind power system laboratory activity and an outline for evaluating student performance in this activity. The work described here was to design and implement the laboratory to assist teachers in achieving the teaching objective of this activity. The laboratory teaching activities introduce energy sources, wind energy technology, electricity storage, and wind power system testing. The wind power system testing activity includes eight topics: setting up the experimental module, operating instruments, wind velocity measurement, rotor diameter activity, wind speed activity, blade angle activity, blade number activity, and data summary. These laboratory activities were first introduced in a Taiwanese junior high school in 2007. This laboratory activity effectively introduced students to wind energy technology through activity participation. The objective of this activity is for the students to gain not only an understanding of the concept of wind power electricity generation, but a greater confidence in investigating, questioning, and experimenting with renewable energy ideas. The students are able to relate the experiments to electronic and computer engineering.   相似文献

The method has attractive motivational aspects since it immediately involves the student in applications. Distance learning is an emerging paradigm where students, teachers, and equipment may be at different geographic locations. At the College of Engineering of Oregon State University, we have developed and demonstrated an innovative real-time remote-access control engineering teaching laboratory. Our remote laboratory uses the Internet to provide complete access to the usual laboratory facilities. In addition, remote power control, network reliability, and safety features are integrated into our experimental hardware and software design. Remotely located students are able to develop, compile, debug, and run controllers in real time on the experiments in our laboratory. Students can watch the experiment in real time from a remote workstation, hear the sounds in the laboratory, and interact with other laboratory users. Problem-based learning (PBL) has proved to be a highly successful pedagogical model in many fields, although it is not that common in computer engineering. PBL goes beyond the typical teaching methodology by promoting student interaction. This paper presents a PBL trial applied to a course in a computer engineering degree at the University of Seville, Spain. To promote the reusability and interoperability of the PBL trial, a design-driven approach was used, based on the Internet protocol Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) Learning Design (LD) standard. This paper presents the outcomes of using this method to innovate teaching practices in a blended learning environment. Design and implementation results, as well as users' opinions, are presented and analyzed.   相似文献

随着电力现货市场化的深入推进,对电网供电服务能力也提出了更高的要求,基于智能电网和泛在电力物联网的建设,能够有效的支持互动用户服务和需求响应,以提升客户的服务水平和灵活感知能力。近年来,需求侧管理技术的不断改进,用户的需求响应行为使负荷有可能成为一种相对可控的资源,但国内需求响应尚未与电力市场建设融合,一定程度上制约了需求响应的发展。针对此,首先研究美国PJM的需求响应模式;然后结合浙江电力市场发展现状和国家政策,提出可参考的需求响应的商业模式;在此基础上,设想基于互联网的未来需求响应应用平台建设。  相似文献

A knowledge based tutoring system is used to support the education of power engineering students. The aim of this project is to make teaching and learning more productive and efficient by employing modern technologies. It seeks to find new methods to teach large numbers of students with no increase in staff. The tutoring system is based on an expert system shell. It provides a functionally interacting set of theory and problems, and supports student progress through monitoring and assessment. This paper describes the development of the tutoring system for teaching electrical engineering subjects, and in particular, fault analysis in power systems. The expert system based software has been successfully used by power engineering students. They found this software easy to use and understand, and it has become an extra teaching tool  相似文献
