This paper deals with the design of a novel fuzzy proportional–integral–derivative (PID) controller for automatic generation control (AGC) of a two unequal area interconnected thermal system. For the first time teaching–learning based optimization (TLBO) algorithm is applied in this area to obtain the parameters of the proposed fuzzy-PID controller. The design problem is formulated as an optimization problem and TLBO is employed to optimize the parameters of the fuzzy-PID controller. The superiority of proposed approach is demonstrated by comparing the results with some of the recently published approaches such as Lozi map based chaotic optimization algorithm (LCOA), genetic algorithm (GA), pattern search (PS) and simulated algorithm (SA) based PID controller for the same system under study employing the same objective function. It is observed that TLBO optimized fuzzy-PID controller gives better dynamic performance in terms of settling time, overshoot and undershoot in frequency and tie-line power deviation as compared to LCOA, GA, PS and SA based PID controllers. Further, robustness of the system is studied by varying all the system parameters from −50% to +50% in step of 25%. Analysis also reveals that TLBO optimized fuzzy-PID controller gains are quite robust and need not be reset for wide variation in system parameters.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel hybrid Differential Evolution (DE) and Pattern Search (PS) optimized fuzzy PI/PID controller is proposed for Load Frequency Control (LFC) of multi-area power system. Initially a two-area non-reheat thermal system is considered and the optimum gains of the fuzzy PI/PID controller are optimized employing a hybrid DE and PS (hDEPS) optimization technique. The superiority of the proposed controller is demonstrated by comparing the results with some recently published modern heuristic optimization techniques such as DE, Bacteria Foraging Optimization Algorithm (BFOA), Genetic Algorithm (GA) and conventional Ziegler Nichols (ZN) based PI controllers for the same interconnected power system. Furthermore, robustness analysis is performed by varying the system parameters and operating load conditions from their nominal values. It is observed that the optimum gains of the proposed controller need not be reset even if the system is subjected to wide variation in loading condition and system parameters. Additionally, the proposed approach is further extended to multi-area multi-source power system with/without HVDC link and the gains of fuzzy PID controllers are optimized using hDEPS algorithm. The superiority of the proposed approach is shown by comparing the results with recently published DE optimized PID controller and conventional optimal output feedback controller for the same power systems. Finally, Reheat turbine, Generation Rate Constraint (GRC) and time delay are included in the system model to demonstrate the ability of the proposed approach to handle nonlinearity and physical constraints in the system model.  相似文献

This paper proposes a novel hybrid technique called enhanced grey wolf optimization-sine cosine algorithm-cuckoo search (EGWO-SCA-CS) algorithm to improve the electrical power system stability. The proposed method comprises of a popular grey wolf optimization (GWO) in an enhanced and hybrid form. It embraces the well-balanced exploration and exploitation using the cuckoo search (CS) algorithm and enhanced search capability through the sine cosine algorithm (SCA) to elude the stuck to the local optima. The proposed technique is validated with the 23 benchmark functions and compared with state-of-the-art methods. The benchmark functions consist of unimodal, multimodal function from which the best suitability of the proposed technique can be identified. The robustness analysis also presented with the proposed method through boxplot, and a detailed statistical analysis is performed for a set of 30 individual runs. From the inferences gathered from the benchmark functions, the proposed technique is applied to the stability problem of a power system, which is heavily stressed with the nonlinear variation of the load and thereby operating conditions. The dynamics of power system components have been considered for the mathematical model of a multimachine system, and multiobjective function has been framed in tuning the optimal controller parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm has been assessed by considering two case studies, namely, (i) the optimal controller parameter tuning, and (ii) the coordination of oscillation damping devices in the power system stability enhancement. In the first case study, the power system stabilizer (PSS) is considered as a controller, and a self-clearing three-phase fault is considered as the system uncertainty. In contrast, static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) and PSS are considered as controllers to be coordinated, and perturbation in the system states as uncertainty in the second case study.  相似文献

This paper proposes an efficient hybrid approach for solving multi-objective optimization design of a compliant mechanism. The approach is developed by integrating desirability function approach, fuzzy logic system, adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system, and Lightning attachment procedure optimization. Box–Behnken design is used to form a numerically experimental matrix. First, a refinement of design variables is conducted through analysis of variance and Taguchi approach in terms of considerably eliminating space of design variables and computation efforts. Next, desirability of two objective functions is computed and transferred into the fuzzy logic system. The output of fuzzy logic system is regarded as single combined objective function. Subsequently, a modeling for fuzzy output is developed via adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system. Then, LAPO algorithm is adopted for solving the optimization problem. By investigating three different numerical examples, performance of the proposed approach is validated. Numerical results revealed that the proposed approach has a computational accuracy better than that of Taguchi-based fuzzy logic reasoning. Finally, case study 1 is chosen as an optimal solution for the mechanism. Furthermore, the effectiveness of proposed approach is greater than that of the Jaya algorithm and TLBO algorithm through Wilcoxon signed rank test and Friedman test. The proposed approach can be used for related engineering fields.

This paper, presents the particle swarm optimization-based fuzzy logic controller (PSO FLC) design for load frequency control in a two-area interconnected hydrothermal power system. Flexible alternating current transmission system devices and energy storage devices are being installed to improve the reliability and stability of the system under dynamic conditions. One such devices namely thyristor-controlled phase shifter (TCPS) is connected in series with the tie-line to damp out the power swings and frequency oscillations. Similarly at the terminal of one control area, a fast acting energy storage device of superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) is connected to meet the sudden changes in demand. The existing conventional controllers are unable to provide the satisfactory performance over a wide range of operating conditions due to system nonlinearity and plant parameter variations. To improve the dynamic performance of the system, this work proposes an intelligent tuning approach using a combination of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and fuzzy logic technique. In this work, PSO algorithm is employed for the optimal selection of membership function parameters of the proposed fuzzy PI, TCPS and SMES controllers by minimizing the time domain objective function. The simulation study is performed by the proposed PSO FLC in a two-area interconnected power system. To show the effective performance of the proposed controller, a comparative study has been made with the conventional, genetic algorithm and fuzzy logic-based optimized controller under varying load conditions.  相似文献

The main aim of this work consists of proposing a new three-step adjusting approach for an improved version of PID-type fuzzy structure in order to determine its design parameters based on a novel hybrid PSO search technique called PSOSCALF, combining Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA) and Levy Flight (LF) distribution. In addition, conventional and self-tuning controllers are designed to get a better understanding of the performance and robustness of the proposed PID-type FLC approach. At first, the proposed PID-type FLC structure is defined as an optimization problem and then the PSOSCALF algorithm is applied to resolve it systematically. Evaluation of the performance quality of the proposed fuzzy structure is accomplished based on the stabilization and tracking control of a nonlinear Inverted Pendulum (IP) system. To make a complete comparison, the performance of three other optimization techniques namely simple PSO, Differential Evolution (DE) and Cuckoo Search (CS) are examined against the hybrid PSOSCALF algorithm. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed PSOSCALF-tuned PID-type FLC structure is able to decrease the overshoot and integral square error amounts by about 25% and 10%, respectively compared to the self-tuning controllers. Finally, for more validation, all the controllers are tested under four different disturbance scenarios. Obtained results show that the proposed PID-type FLC can better stabilize the pendulum angle under all the scenarios compared to the PID and self-tuning controllers.  相似文献

This paper presents a new approach for power quality time series data mining using S-transform based fuzzy expert system (FES). Initially the power signal time series disturbance data are pre-processed through an advanced signal processing tool such as S-transform and various statistical features are extracted, which are used as inputs to the fuzzy expert system for power quality event detection. The proposed expert system uses a data mining approach for assigning a certainty factor for each classification rule, thereby providing robustness to the rule in the presence of noise. Further to provide a very high degree of accuracy in pattern classification, both the Gaussian and trapezoidal membership functions of the concerned fuzzy sets are optimized using a fuzzy logic based adaptive particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique. The proposed hybrid PSO-fuzzy expert system (PSOFES) provides accurate classification rates even under noisy conditions compared to the existing techniques, which show the efficacy and robustness of the proposed algorithm for power quality time series data mining.  相似文献

In the bacteria foraging optimization algorithm (BFAO), the chemotactic process is randomly set, imposing that the bacteria swarm together and keep a safe distance from each other. In hybrid bacteria foraging optimization algorithm and particle swarm optimization (hBFOA–PSO) algorithm the principle of swarming is introduced in the framework of BFAO. The hBFOA–PSO algorithm is based on the adjustment of each bacterium position according to the neighborhood environment. In this paper, the effectiveness of the hBFOA–PSO algorithm has been tested for automatic generation control (AGC) of an interconnected power system. A widely used linear model of two area non-reheat thermal system equipped with proportional-integral (PI) controller is considered initially for the design and analysis purpose. At first, a conventional integral time multiply absolute error (ITAE) based objective function is considered and the performance of hBFOA–PSO algorithm is compared with PSO, BFOA and GA. Further a modified objective function using ITAE, damping ratio of dominant eigenvalues and settling time with appropriate weight coefficients is proposed to increase the performance of the controller. Further, robustness analysis is carried out by varying the operating load condition and time constants of speed governor, turbine, tie-line power in the range of +50% to ?50% as well as size and position of step load perturbation to demonstrate the robustness of the proposed hBFOA–PSO optimized PI controller. The proposed approach is also extended to a non-linear power system model by considering the effect of governor dead band non-linearity and the superiority of the proposed approach is shown by comparing the results of craziness based particle swarm optimization (CRAZYPSO) approach for the identical interconnected power system. Finally, the study is extended to a three area system considering both thermal and hydro units with different PI coefficients and comparison between ANFIS and proposed approach has been provided.  相似文献

This paper deals with the application of artificial neural network (ANN) based ANFIS approach to automatic generation control (AGC) of a three unequal area hydrothermal system. The proposed ANFIS controller combines the advantages of fuzzy controller as well as quick response and adaptability nature of ANN. Appropriate generation rate constraints (GRC) have been considered for the thermal and hydro plants. The hydro area is considered with an electric governor and thermal area is considered with reheat turbine. The design objective is to improve the frequency and tie-line power deviations of the interconnected system. 1% step load perturbation has been considered occurring either in any individual area or occurring simultaneously in all the areas. It is a maiden application of ANFIS approach to a three unequal area hydrothermal system with GRC considering perturbation in a single area as well as in all areas. The performance of the ANFIS controller is compared with the results of integral squared error (ISE) criterion based integral controller published previously. Simulation results are presented to show the improved performance of ANFIS controller in comparison with the conventional integral controller. The results indicate that the controllers exhibit better performance. In fact, ANFIS approach satisfies the load frequency control requirements with a reasonable dynamic response.  相似文献

This article proposes an efficient hybrid algorithm for multi-objective distribution feeder reconfiguration. The hybrid algorithm is based on the combination of discrete particle swarm optimization (DPSO), ant colony optimization (ACO), and fuzzy multi-objective approach called DPSO-ACO-F. The objective functions are to reduce real power losses, deviation of nodes voltage, the number of switching operations, and the balancing of the loads on the feeders. Since the objectives are not the same, it is not easy to solve the problem by traditional approaches that optimize a single objective. In the proposed algorithm, the objective functions are first modeled with fuzzy sets to calculate their imprecise nature and then the hybrid evolutionary algorithm is applied to determine the optimal solution. The feasibility of the proposed optimization algorithm is demonstrated and compared with the solutions obtained by other approaches over different distribution test systems.  相似文献

Proportional and derivative kick i.e., a large change in control action of a proportional plus integral plus derivative (PID) controller due to a sudden change in reference set-point is generally undesired in process industry. Therefore, the structure of conventional parallel PID controller is modified to integral minus proportional derivative (I-PD) controller. In this paper, three hybrid fuzzy IPD controllers such as a fuzzy I-fuzzy PD (FI-FPD) controller and its hybrid combinations with its conventional counterpart such as fuzzy I-PD (FI-PD) and I-fuzzy PD (I-FPD) are presented in view of above industrial problem. These controllers are based upon the counterpart conventional I-PD controller and contains analytical formulae. Computer simulations are carried out to evaluate the performance of hybrid fuzzy controllers along with conventional I-PD and PID controllers for set-point tracking and disturbance rejection for an induction motor in closed loop using LabVIEW? environment. The gains of conventional and hybrid fuzzy controllers are tuned using genetic algorithm (GA) for minimum overshoot and settling time. It has been observed that hybrid fuzzy controllers along with the conventional I-PD controller significantly remove the kick from the control action in reference set-point tracking. However, in disturbance rejection, I-PD and FI-PD controllers fail to eliminate the kick from the control signal. In contrast, FI-FPD and I-FPD controllers considerably reduced spikes from the control action in disturbance rejection. Among the conventional and hybrid fuzzy IPD controllers, FI-FPD demonstrates much better set-point tracking and disturbance rejection response with spike free control action.  相似文献

Abstract: This paper describes the development and tuning methods for a novel self-organizing fuzzy proportional integral derivative (PID) controller. Before applying fuzzy logic, the PID gains are tuned using a conventional tuning method. At supervisory level, fuzzy logic readjusts the PID gains online. In the first tuning method, fuzzy logic at the supervisory level readjusts the three PID gains during the system operation. In the second tuning method, fuzzy logic only readjusts the proportional PID gain, and the corresponding integral and derivative gains are readjusted using the Ziegler–Nichols tuning method while the system is in operation. For the compositional rule of inferences in the fuzzy PID and the self-organizing fuzzy PID schemes two new approaches are introduced: the min implication function with the mean of maxima defuzzification method, and the max-product implication function with the centre of gravity defuzzification method. The fuzzy PID controller, the self-organizing fuzzy PID controller and the PID controller are all applied to a non-linear revolute-joint robot arm for step input and path tracking experiments using computer simulation. For the step input and path tracking experiments, the novel self-organizing fuzzy PID controller produces a better output response than the fuzzy PID controller; and in turn both controllers exhibit better process output than the PID controller.  相似文献

Present day power scenarios demand a high quality uninterrupted power supply and needs environmental issues to be addressed. Both concerns can be dealt with by the introduction of the renewable sources to the existing power system. Thus, automatic generation control (AGC) with diverse renewable sources and a modified-cascaded controller are presented in the paper. Also, a new hybrid scheme of the improved teaching learning based optimization-differential evolution (hITLBO-DE) algorithm is applied for providing optimization of controller parameters. A study of the system with a technique such as TLBO applied to a proportional integral derivative (PID), integral double derivative (IDD) and PIDD is compared to hITLBO-DE tuned cascaded controller with dynamic load change.The suggested methodology has been extensively applied to a 2-area system with a diverse source power system with various operation time non-linearities such as dead-band of, generation rate constraint and reheat thermal units. The multi-area system with reheat thermal plants, hydel plants and a unit of a wind-diesel combination is tested with the cascaded controller scheme with a different controller setting for each area. The variation of the load is taken within 1% to 5% of the connected load and robustness analysis is shown by modifying essential factors simultaneously by ± 30%. Finally, the proposed scheme of controller and optimization technique is also tested with a 5-equal area thermal system with non-linearities. The simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed controller and algorithm under a dynamically changing load.   相似文献

We report a novel design method for determining the optimal proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller parameters of an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) system, using a combined genetic algorithm (GA), radial basis function neural network (RBF-NN) and Sugeno fuzzy logic approaches. GA and a RBF-NN with a Sugeno fuzzy logic are proposed to design a PID controller for an AVR system (GNFPID). The problem for obtaining the optimal AVR and PID controller parameters is formulated as an optimization problem and RBF-NN tuned by GA is applied to solve the optimization problem. Whereas, optimal PID gains obtained by the proposed RBF tuning by genetic algorithm for various operating conditions are used to develop the rule base of the Sugeno fuzzy system and design fuzzy PID controller of the AVR system to improve the system's response (∼0.005 s). The proposed approach has superior features, including easy implementation, stable convergence characteristic, good computational efficiency and this algorithm effectively searches for a high-quality solution and improve the transient response of the AVR system (7E−06). Numerical simulation results demonstrate that this is faster and has much less computational cost as compared with the real-code genetic algorithm (RGA) and Sugeno fuzzy logic. The proposed method is indeed more efficient and robust in improving the step response of an AVR system.  相似文献

An input-state-output inclusion principle for linear stochastic systems is proposed, with the emphasis on restriction and aggregation conditions for estimators and dynamic controllers. Inclusion of the LQG (linear quadratic Gaussian) optimal design is formulated and applied to the decentralized overlapping control of large-scale interconnected systems. Applications of the proposed methodology are illustrated using a stochastic model of automatic generation control (AGC) for interconnected power systems. Three types of overlapping decentralized and fully decentralized dynamic controllers, consisting of state estimators and feedback gains, are proposed for the cases of full and reduced measurement sets. An extensive analysis of both steady-state and transient regimes under a variety of operating conditions shows the superiority of the proposed AGC scheme with respect to the standard AGC designs.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to propose a hybrid trigonometric compound function neural network (NN) to improve the NN-based tracking control performance of a nonholonomic mobile robot with nonlinear disturbances. In the mobile robot control system, two NN controllers embedded in the closed-loop control system have the simple continuous learning and rapid convergence capability without the dynamics information of the mobile robot to realize the tracking control of the mobile robot. The neuron functions of the hidden layer in the three-layer feedforward network structure consist of the compound cosine function and the compound sine function combining a cosine or a sine function with a unipolar sigmoid function. The main advantages of this NN-based mobile robot control system are better real-time control capability and control accuracy by use of the proposed NN controllers for a nonholonomic mobile robot with nonlinear disturbances. Through simulation experiments applied to the nonholonomic mobile robot with the nonlinear disturbances of dynamics uncertainty and external disturbances, the simulation results show that the proposed NN control system of a nonholonomic mobile robot has better real-time control capability and control accuracy than the compound cosine function NN control system of a nonholonomic mobile robot and then verify the effectiveness of the proposed hybrid trigonometric compound function NN controller for improving the tracking control performance of a nonholonomic mobile robot with nonlinear disturbances.  相似文献

The paper describes a mathematical tool to build a fuzzy model whose membership functions and consequent parameters rely on the estimates of a data set. The proposed method proved to be capable of approximating any real continuous function, also a strongly nonlinear one, on a compact set to arbitrary accuracy. Without resorting to domain experts, the algorithm constructs a model-free, complete function approximation system. Applications to the modeling of several functions among which classical nonlinear ones such as the Rosenbrock and the sine (x, y) functions are reported. The proposed algorithm can find applications in the development of fuzzy logic controllers (FLC).  相似文献

乌鸦搜索算法模拟乌鸦觅食行为对个体位置进行更新与搜索,为降低基本乌鸦搜索位置更新策略本身存在的盲目性,将正弦余弦作为局部优化算子嵌入到基本算法中,提出了正弦余弦指引的乌鸦搜索算法。该算法通过正弦余弦操作使每一个乌鸦个体都可以充分吸收自身与最优个体的位置差信息,有效指引乌鸦个体沿最优值方向趋近最优值,改善算法的收敛效果和寻优精度。并对一系列测试函数进行寻优实验,实验结果表明该改进算法性能良好。  相似文献
