A downconversion double-balanced oscillator mixer using 0.18-/spl mu/m CMOS technology is proposed in this paper. This oscillator mixer consists of an individual mixer stacked on a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). The stacked structure allows entire mixer current to be reused by the VCO cross-coupled pair to reduce the total current consumption of the individual VCO and mixer. Using individual supply voltages and eliminating the tail current source, the stacked topology requires 1.0-V low supply voltage. The oscillator mixer achieves a voltage conversion gain of 10.9 dB at 4.2-GHz RF frequency. The oscillator mixer exhibits a tuning range of 11.5% and a single-sideband noise figure of 14.5 dB. The dc power consumption is 0.2 mW for the mixer and 2.94 mW for the VCO. This oscillator mixer requires a lower supply voltage and achieves a higher operating frequency among recently reported Si-based self-oscillating mixers and mixer oscillators. The mixer in this oscillator mixer also achieves a low power consumption compared with recently reported low-power mixers.  相似文献

本文介绍一种方法简单、便于学生理解的分析晶体管混频器混频增益的简化计算方法.该方法从晶体管的电流方程入手,通过分析晶体管混频器的混频原理,得到了输出中频电流和混频跨导、混频增益的简明数学表示.通过对典型混频器电路的仿真,验证了该方法的有效性.该方法与传统的时变偏置电压分析方法相比,混频跨导和混频增益容易求得,解决了以往混频跨导基本是一个概念参数而难以确定具体数值的问题.  相似文献

A down-conversion mixer utilising the offset-cancelling technique increase the carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) is presented. The proposed offset-cancelling mixer has been fabricated in a 0.35 μm CMOS process and it can convert the 2.4 GHz RF signal to the 280 MHz IF one with 12 mW power consumption including the buffer. Compared with the non-offset-cancelling mixer, the proposed offset-cancelling mixer has the lower noise level. Experimental results show that the offset-cancelling mixer provides 45 dB CNR better than 34 dB CNR of the mixer without the offset-cancelling technique  相似文献

A new kind of harmonic mixer for use in phase locking systems for MM-wave oscillators is presented. The mixer has compact design and combines directional coupler and conventional harmonic mixer in one element. Construction and features of the mixer are discussed. Experimentally measured main characteristics of the mixer are presented. Possibility of continuous frequency scan of phase locked MM-wave oscillator within a full waveguide band is demonstrated.  相似文献

The second-order intercept point (IP2) performance of direct conversion receivers is limited by the second-order nonlinearity of the mixer. A new technique which is based on calibrating mixer by injecting a programmable nonlinear current into the mixer output is introduced in this paper. The proposed calibration technique can be used in multistandard mixers. A CMOS mixer demonstrating the performance for Universal Mobile Telecommunication System application and working with supplies as low as 1 V is designed in a 65-nm technology. The simulation results show that the mixer IIP2 is improved more than 25 dB while the mixer current consumption is increased less than 1 mA. The calibration circuit is low noise not to affect the mixer noise figure.  相似文献

本文讨论了混频二极管在直流偏置和交流信号激励时的噪声温度比,提出了以“有效噪声温度比(tD)_(eff)”来表征二极管在交流激励下的噪声性能.文中还讨论了在信号及镜像频率的变频损耗不同时混频器输出噪声温度比和二极管噪声温度比的关系.根据分析结果对倒极性并联二极管对的噪声性能作了分析,表明这种复合管的(tD)_(eff)为一常数(0.5).这对降低混频器的系统噪声系数是十分有利的.可以相信:利用倒极性并联二极管对于研制优良性能的毫米波段混频器是一种很有希望的办法.  相似文献

Noise in the mixer of zero-IF receivers can compromise the overall receiver sensitivity. The evolution of a passive CMOS mixer based on the knowledge of the physical mechanisms of noise in an active mixer is explained. Qualitative physical models that simply explain the frequency translation of both the flicker and white noise of different FETs in the mixer have been developed. Derived equations have been verified by simulations, and mixer optimization has been explained.   相似文献

The authors present a Schottky diode grid mixer suitable for mixing or detecting quasi-optical signals. The mixer is a planar bow-tie grid structure periodically loaded with diodes. A simple transmission line model is used to predict the reflection coefficient of the grid to a normally incident plane wave. The grid mixer power handling and dynamic range scales as the number of devices in the grid. A 10-GHz 100-element grid mixer has shown an improvement in dynamic range of 16.3 to 19.8 dB over an equivalent single-diode mixer. The conversion loss and noise figure of the grid are equal to those of a conventional mixer. The quasi-optical coupling of the input signals makes the grid mixer suitable for millimeter-wave and submillimeter-wave applications by eliminating waveguide sidewall losses and machining difficulties. The planar property of the grid potentially allows thousands of devices to be integrated monolithically  相似文献
