Gastrointestinal cancers are among the leading sites of cancer and leading causes of cancer-related deaths. Gastrointestinal cancers are often at an advanced stage at the time of diagnosis, and are highly resistant to non-surgical therapy. Thus early diagnosis and prevention are approaches that are under active investigation. Screening and surveillance are considered secondary prevention. Primary prevention is the use of dietary or environmental modification or chemopreventive agents. This written review will emphasize the potential role of acetylsalicylic acid and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in the prevention of gastrointestinal cancer, and specifically colorectal cancer. Cell culture and animal studies have shown that NSAIDs possess anti-proliferative and anti-neoplastic effects. Recent epidemiologic surveys also suggest that individuals who regularly take NSAIDs, particularly acetylsalicylic acid, have about a 50% decrease in colorectal cancer incidence and mortality. However, in the only interventional trial of aspirin (and beta-carotene), a retrospective analysis had inadequate statistical power to demonstrate any protective effect against colorectal cancer. About a dozen small prospective intervention studies have been done in a total of about a hundred patients with familial adenomatous polyposis to test the efficacy of NSAIDs, particularly sulindac. All human trials have shown substantial partial and some complete regression of colorectal and perhaps also duodenal adenomatous polyps. But virtually all patients had regrowth of adenomatous polyps after sulindac was stopped. In addition, sulindac and other NSAIDs result in occasional adverse events such as gastrointestinal bleeding. Thus sulindac cannot be recommended for routine use outside of a study setting. One valid current approach to the prevention of gastrointestinal cancer, and colorectal cancer in particular, is the adoption of a healthy lifestyle and appropriate screening and surveillance. Screening and surveillance guidelines have been developed by several public agencies and their recommendations should be adopted. In addition, we should adopt a healthy lifestyle and diet, which consists of low fat ( < 30% to total calories), and high fiber (> 3 daily servings of fruits/vegetables), with the avoidance of red meats ( < 3 weekly servings) and alcohol ( < 2 drinks daily), and the absolute avoidance of tobacco smoking.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Recent work has demonstrated a correlation between frequency of aspirin ingestion and colorectal cancer prevention. Sulindac, another nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), has been shown to cause polyp regression and a fall in cell proliferation in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis, who are destined to develop colorectal cancer unless the colon is removed. However, the mode of action of NSAIDs in colorectal carcinogenesis prevention remains to be determined, although a prostaglandin-mediated mechanism seems likely. METHODS: Rectal or duodenal biopsies from 20 patients with familial adenomatous polyposis, who had been randomized to sulindac or placebo, were analyzed for prostaglandin (PG) E2 and F2 alpha levels before and after treatment. RESULTS: A significant fall in prostaglandin E2 and F2 alpha levels was seen in patients who were on sulindac; this correlated with a visual improvement in number and size of polyps in the same patients (P = 0.0096; PGE2, P = 0.036; PGF2 alpha, Spearman's rank correlation). CONCLUSIONS: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may prevent colorectal cancer by their inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Prostaglandins may be implicated in carcinogenesis through an increase in cell proliferation, through immunosuppression, by increasing neovascularization, or via a mutagenic effect.  相似文献

The management of intra-abdominal desmoid tumors in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is very difficult. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), anti-estrogenic agents, and steroids are most commonly used, because surgical removal of these tumors may result in severe morbidity, with local recurrence being common. We report a patient with FAP and intra-abdominal desmoid tumors that regressed markedly after prednisolone therapy. The patient, a 38-year-old woman, had undergone total colectomy and ileorectal anastomosis with a diagnosis of FAP with colon cancer. Approximately 17 months after the surgery, she noticed an elastic firm lump in the abdominal wall. She also experienced lower abdominal distension. Computed tomography (CT) of the lower abdomen showed an invasive heterogenous low-density mass occupying the intra-abdominal space. She was treated with sulindac, NSAID, at 300 mg/day, the diagnosis being intra-abdominal desmoid tumors. She exhibited an intestinal obstruction about 9 months after the initiation of sulindac therapy. We changed the treatment and began prednisolone (initial dose, 40 mg/day). This treatment was continued for two years; subsequently, the lesions regressed markedly. She is currently well, more than 3 years after the withdrawal of prednisolone.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have well-known gastrointestinal and renal toxic reactions. Effects of NSAIDs on blood pressure are less appreciated. A meta-analysis was performed to determine the hypertensive effects of NSAIDs and rank them by magnitude of change in mean arterial pressure (MAP). METHODS: A literature search of published English-language studies of NSAIDs and their effects on blood pressure was done. Studies were included if they met the following criteria: (1) the studies were intervention studies; (2) NSAIDs at any dose or aspirin at doses of 1.5 g/d or greater were included; (3) documentation of blood pressure was provided; and (4) the studies were 24 hours in duration. Studies were excluded if 20% or more of their participants dropped out or if the dose of antihypertensive drugs was adjusted while the subjects were taking NSAIDs. The major outcome was change in MAP while patients were receiving NSAIDs. Each NSAID arm was extracted from its trial. Information on possible confounders, including subject age, trial quality, amount of dietary salt intake, and whether study subjects were hypertensive or normotensive, was recorded. We calculated the average change in MAP on each NSAID, adjusting for confounders. RESULTS: Fifty-four studies with 123 NSAID treatment arms met inclusion criteria. The mean age of subjects was 46 years. Of the 1324 participants, 1213 subjects (92%) were hypertensive. The effects of NSAIDs on blood pressure were found solely in hypertensive subjects. Among these, the increase in MAP after adjusting for amount of dietary salt intake was 3.59 mm Hg for indomethacin (57 treatment arms), 374 mm Hg for naproxen (four arms), and 0.49 mm Hg for piroxicam (four arms). The MAP decreased by 2.59 mm Hg for placebo (10 arms), 0.83 mm Hg for ibuprofen (six arms), 1.76 mm Hg for aspirin (four arms), and 0.16 mm Hg for sulindac (23 arms). The effects on MAP by using placebo, sulindac, and aspirin were statistically significantly different from indomethacin. CONCLUSIONS: In short-term use, NSAIDs vary considerably in their effect on blood pressure. Of the drugs studied, indomethacin and naproxen were associated with the largest increases in blood pressure. The average effects of piroxicam, aspirin, ibuprofen, and sulindac were negligible.  相似文献

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as sulindac, have cancer chemopreventive properties by a mechanism that has been suggested to involve cyclooxygenase inhibition and reduction of prostaglandin (PGE2) levels in the target tissue. To test this hypothesis, we studied the effect of dietary sulindac sulfone (500-2000 ppm), a metabolite of sulindac reported to lack cyclooxygenase inhibitory activity, on tumor formation and PGE2 levels in the azoxymethane model of colon carcinogenesis. Rats treated with sulindac at 400 ppm and piroxicam at 150 ppm were used as positive controls. Rats received two s.c. injections of azoxymethane (15 mg/kg) for 2 weeks and were fed either experimental or control diets until necropsy. After 31 weeks of sulfone treatment, a dose-related increase in sulfone levels in both serum and cecal contents was measured; there was no evidence of metabolic conversion to sulindac or other metabolites. Rats treated with sulfone at 1000 and 2000 ppm, sulindac, and piroxicam had significantly fewer colonic adenomas and carcinomas compared with rats fed control diet as measured by tumor incidence, multiplicity, and tumor burden. Sulfone-treated rats also showed a dose-response relationship for inhibiting all tumor parameters. Colons from rats treated with sulindac or piroxicam contained PGE2 levels that ranged from approximately 16-49% of control levels. PGE2 levels in rats treated with sulfone up to 2000 ppm ranged from 78-118% of control levels. Moreover, the effects of sulindac sulfone on various enzymes responsible for regulating prostaglandin levels were evaluated. No significant inhibitory effects were observed for cyclooxygenase, lipoxygenase, or phospholipase A2. These results suggest that reduction of prostaglandin levels in the target tissue may not be necessary for the chemopreventive properties of sulindac.  相似文献

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are well-known cancer preventives, which have been largely attributed to their antiproliferative and apoptosis-inducing activities. In this study, we show that microsatellite instability (MSI) in colorectal cancer cells deficient for a subset of the human mismatch repair (MMR) genes (hMLH1, hMSH2, and hMSH6), is markedly reduced during exposure to aspirin or sulindac [or Clinoril, which is chemically related to indomethacin (Indocin)]. This effect was reversible, time and concentration dependent, and appeared independent of proliferation rate and cyclooxygenase function. In contrast, the MSI phenotype of a hPMS2-deficient endometrial cancer cell line was unaffected by aspirin/sulindac. We show that the MSI reduction in the susceptible MMR-deficient cells was confined to nonapoptotic cells, whereas apoptotic cells remained unstable and were eliminated from the growing population. These results suggest that aspirin/sulindac induces a genetic selection for microsatellite stability in a subset of MMR-deficient cells and may provide an effective prophylactic therapy for hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer kindreds where alteration of the hMSH2 and hMLH1 genes are associated with the majority of cancer susceptibility cases.  相似文献

Several lines of evidence strongly link prostaglandins (PGs) and leukotrienes (LTs) to cancer of the intestine. Several studies have reported a 40-50% reduction in mortality from colorectal cancer in individuals who routinely consume nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, possibly by inhibiting cyclooxygenase activity. However, the role of eicosanoids in this process is still unclear. The heterozygote Min/+ mouse model, like patients with familial adenomatous polyposis, carries a nonsense mutation in the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene that results in the spontaneous development of intestinal adenomas (100% incidence). This study investigated the association between eicosanoid biosynthesis, intestinal tumor load, and the chemotherapeutic effect of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug sulindac during early and preexisting phases of tumor growth and development as well as residual effects after drug withdrawal. Administration of sulindac (320 ppm) to Min/+ mice reduced the tumor number by 95% but did not alter the levels of PGE2 and LTB4 in intestinal tissues. Increasing PGE2 and LTB4 levels by 44% with dietary arachidonic acid supplementation had no effect on tumor number or size. When sulindac was added to the arachidonic acid-supplemented diet, tumor number was reduced by 82%, whereas eicosanoid levels remained elevated. In Min/+ mice with established tumors, treatment with sulindac for 4 days reduced tumor number by 75%, and continual administration of sulindac was necessary to maintain a reduced tumor load. In summary, alterations in eicosanoid formation were not correlated with tumor number or size in the Min/+ mouse model; thus, the antitumor effect of sulindac seems to be PG independent.  相似文献

A practical and reproducible high-performance liquid chromatographic method using normal solid-phase extraction has been developed for the simultaneous analysis of twelve non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in human urine. A urine specimen mixed with acetate buffer pH 5.0 was purified by solid-phase extraction on a Sep-Pak Silica cartridge. The analyte was chromatographed by a reversed-phase Inertsil ODS-2 column using a phosphate buffer-acetonitrile at pH 5.0 as the mobile phase, and the effluent from the column was monitored at 230 or 320 nm. Absolute recoveries were greater than 73% for all of the twelve NSAIDs. The present method enabled simple manipulation and isocratic HPLC with UV analysis as well as high sensitivity of 0.005 microg/ml for naproxen, and 0.05 microg/ml for sulindac, piroxicam, loxoprofen, ketoprofen, felbinac, fenbufen, flurbiprofen, diclofenac, ibuprofen and mefenamic acid as the quantitation limit in human urine using indomethacin as an internal standard.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Desmoid tumors are the second leading cause of mortality in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis who have undergone proctocolemy. Both medical and surgical treatment of these non-metastasizing but locally aggressive tumors are difficult. CASE REPORT: A 20-years-old woman consulted 6 years after coloproctectomy for familial adenomatous polyposis. A mesenteric desmoid tumor was found. Resection was not possible. The tumor progressed under sulindac treatment and subocclusion developed. The patient was given tamoxifen, 20 mg/d and the size of the tumor began to regress within a few days together with pain and signs of compression. The treatment was well tolerated for 4.5 years and tumor volume has remained unchanged after a 20-fold reduction compared with the size prior to treatment. The patient has remained symptom-free. DISCUSSION: In this critical clinical situation, tamoxifen provided rapid and prolonged effect and was well tolerated.  相似文献

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to review the management of desmoid tumors in patients who have undergone ileal pouch-anal anastomosis for familial adenomatous polyposis and their outcome. METHODS: A retrospective review of case notes was undertaken in a series of 196 patients with familial adenomatous polyposis who had had an ileal pouch-anal anastomosis. Eleven patients were identified in whom desmoid tumor had developed (4 male; median age, 30 (range, 16-43) years). RESULTS: Desmoid tumors developed in the abdominal wall alone in 4 of 11 patients. Three enlarging tumors were resected with no subsequent recurrence. No patient received adjuvant treatment and pouch function remained stable at a median follow-up of eight years. Mesenteric desmoid tumors developed in seven patients; the pouch has been excised in two because of ischemia; two other patients have had defunctioning stomas created because of slow progression of their desmoid tumors. One patient had a single-lumen pouch excised and a new S-pouch inserted, with no subsequent recurrence of the desmoid tumor, and in two patients the mesenteric desmoid tumor has remained unchanged. All of these patients received long-term Clinoril (sulindac, Merck & Co., Inc., West Point, PA). Although there has been no significant deterioration in pouch function in patients in whom the pouch remains in situ, the pouch function was significantly worse compared with a control group of patients after ileal pouch-anal anastomosis for familial adenomatous polyposis in whom desmoid tumors did not develop. CONCLUSION: Desmoid tumors developed in 5.6 percent of 196 patients after ileal pouch-anal anastomosis for familial adenomatous polyposis. No patient with abdominal-wall desmoid tumor had a recurrence after local excision. By contrast, mesenteric desmoid tumors eventually resulted in pouch failure in four of seven affected patients.  相似文献

The co-administration of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and antihypertensive agents often, but not always, results in blunting of the effect of antihypertensive therapy. Although NSAIDs have no detectable pressor effects in normal subjects or untreated hypertensive people, they seem to antagonize the action of the majority of antihypertensive agents, making it necessary to increase their dosage, and often preventing proper control of blood pressure, particularly in black and elderly patients. The mechanism of this pharmacodynamic interaction is not completely understood, but may involve inhibition of vascular and renal prostaglandin (PG) synthesis, with resulting vasoconstriction and impaired renal excretion of Na+ and water. Also, suppression of a possible intermediary action of PG in the antihypertensive action of agents such as angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors has been proposed. Certain antihypertensive drugs, such as Ca(2+)-channel blockers, centrally acting alpha agonists, and diuretics seem less sensitive to antagonism by NSAIDs. Aspirin and sulindac seem to be devoid of pressor effects, and thus provide a safe alternative in patients at risk for this interaction. These compounds may, in selected circumstances, even potentiate the effects of antihypertensive medications. Studies are underway to evaluate the hemodynamic effects of more selective blockers of arachidonate metabolism, such as thromboxane synthase inhibitors and selective inhibitors of PGH synthase-2.  相似文献

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are among the most widely prescribed drugs. In this study, we demonstrated the efficacy of aspirin to inhibit lung tumorigenesis in A/J mice. Lung tumors (9.9 tumors/mouse) were induced by the tobacco-specific nitrosamine, 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK), administered in drinking water between week 0 and week +7. Groups of mice were fed sulindac (123 mg/kg diet), acetylsalicylic acid (ASA; 294 mg/kg), non-buffered Aspirin (294 mg/kg) or buffered Aspirin (294 mg/kg) in AIN-76A diet from week -2 to the end of the bioassay (week +23). These doses are comparable to the maximal doses recommended for humans. ASA and non-buffered Aspirin were the most effective inhibitors and reduced lung multiplicities by 60 and 62%, respectively. Sulindac inhibited lung tumor multiplicity by 52%. Inhibition by buffered Aspirin was not statistically significant. We evaluated the efficacies of NSAIDs to inhibit NNK activation by h1A2 v2 cells expressing human P-450 1A2. Salicylates, at doses of 500 microM and 1 mM, had no effect on NNK activation. Sulindac and its sulfide and sulfone metabolites (1 mM) inhibited NNK metabolism by 90, 92 and 65%, respectively. We observed a 76% inhibition with SKF 525A, a P-450 inhibitor. Taken together, these results indicate that salicylates and sulindac could be equally effective as chemopreventive agents, but they could differ in their mode of action.  相似文献

The potential utility of capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) for the separation and quantitative determination of some non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) was investigated. The influence of different parameters on migration times, peak symmetry, efficiency and resolution was studied; these parameters included the nature and concentration of the anionic and cationic components of the separation buffer. A buffer consisting of 75 mM glycine adjusted to pH 9.1 with triethanolamine was found to provide a very efficient and stable electrophoretic system for the CZE analysis of NSAIDs, giving RSD values of about 0.1 and 0.5% for the within-day reproducibility of migration times and peak areas, respectively at a concentration of 25 micrograms ml-1 (n = 5). Response was linear from 2-100 micrograms ml-1 for both sulindac and tiaprofenic acid, for which the LOQ values were 2.8 and 1.9 micrograms ml-1, respectively, using UV detection at 280 nm. A case of huge desmoid tumor successfully treated by hyperthermoradiotherapy is described. A 23-year-old man with familial adenomatous polyposis was operated upon for a desmoid tumor in the mesenterium involving the right kidney and small intestine in 1988. In 1990, the tumor recurred and could not be resected because of the involvement of the vena cava. The tumor grew larger and larger, and occupied two-thirds of the right lower quadrant. Several therapies using sulindac, tamoxifen, prednisolone, indomethacin, luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone analogue, and ascorbate were all ineffective. Finally, the combination of radiation and hyperthermia was used over a 6-month period. At the end of the hyperthermoradiotherapy, the tumor in the abdominal wall was markedly reduced in size, and the protruded abdominal wall became flat. To our best knowledge, this is the first report of the successful treatment of a huge desmoid tumor by hyperthermoradiotherapy.  相似文献

The cyclooxygenase activity of the membrane protein prostaglandin H2 synthase isoform 1 (PGHS-1) is the target of the nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The X-ray crystal structures of PGHS-1 in complex with the NSAIDs flurbiprofen and bromoaspirin have been determined previously [Picot, D., et al. (1994) Nature 367, 243-249; Loll, P. J., et al. (1995) Nat. Struct. Biol. 2, 637-643]. We report here the preparation and characterization of novel potent iodinated analogs of the NSAIDs indomethacin and suprofen, as well as the refined X-ray crystal structures of their complexes with PGHS-1. The PGHS-iodosuprofen complex structure has been refined at 3.5 A to an R-value of 0.189 and shows the suprofen analog to share a common mode of binding with flurbiprofen. The PGHS-iodoindomethacin complex structure has been refined at 4.5 A to an R-value of 0.254. The low resolution of the iodoindomethacin complex structure precludes detailed modeling of drug-enzyme interactions, but the electron-dense iodine atom of the inhibitor has been unambiguously located, allowing for the placement and approximate orientation of the inhibitor in the enzyme's active site. We have modeled two equally likely binding modes for iodoindomethacin, corresponding to the two principal conformers of the inhibitor. Like flurbiprofen, iodosuprofen and iodoindomethacin bind at the end of the long channel which leads into the enzyme active site. Binding at this site presumably blocks access of substrate to Tyr-385, a residue essential for catalysis. No evidence is seen for significant protein conformational differences between the iodoindomethacin and iodosuprofen of flurbiprofen complex structures.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Oral sulindac is known to reduce polyps in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). The authors speculated that rectal administration of indomethacin would be effective therapy for adenomas in the rectal remnant of FAP. METHODS: Eight patients with FAP who had been treated by total colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis were administered an indomethacin suppository (50 mg) once or twice daily during a period of 4 or 8 weeks. The number of polyps at the same site within the rectum was counted under proctoscopy prior to, at the end of, and after the treatment. In four patients, proliferative activity of the rectal mucosa was assessed by immunohistochemical staining for MIB-1. RESULTS: In six of the eight patients who initially had ten or more polyps, the number of polyps decreased to fewer than five, whereas such a decrease could not be observed in the remaining two patients. In the six patients, the number of polyps increased after indomethacin was discontinued. The proliferative activity of the rectal mucosa was higher at the end of treatment than it was prior to indomethacin administration. CONCLUSIONS: Indomethacin suppositories may be effective in the management of rectal adenomatosis in patients with FAP.  相似文献

The rate-limiting step in arachidonate metabolism is mediated by enzymes known as cyclooxygenases (COXs). These enzymes catalyze the biosynthesis of prostaglandin H2, the precursor of molecules such as prostaglandins, prostacyclin, and thromboxanes. The COX enzyme family consists of the classical COX-1 enzyme, which is constitutively expressed in many tissues, and a second isozyme, i.e., COX-2, which is induced by various stimuli, such as mitogens and cytokines, and is involved in many inflammatory reactions. Because nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) inhibit both COX-1 and COX-2, these drugs also cause unwanted side effects, exemplified by gastrointestinal bleeding. Accumulating evidence indicates that NSAIDs can reduce the incidence of colorectal cancers in human and experimental animals and can reduce the number and size of polyps in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis. This Part II (of a two-part review) focuses on the growing clinical and experimental evidence that NSAIDS and COX-2 inhibitors can influence the risk of colon (and possibly of other) cancers.  相似文献

It remains controversial whether the harmful effects of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are additive. We studied the effects of Hp (virulent and nonvirulent strains) and NSAIDs, alone or in combination, on apoptosis and proliferation of gastric epithelial cells in nonulcer dyspepsia (NUD) patients. Forty-four (25 Hp-positive and 19 Hp-negative) consecutive Chinese NUD patients with rheumatoid arthritis who had taken continuously NSAIDs for more than three months were recruited for this study. Another 41 (20 Hp-positive and 21 Hp-negative) NUD patients not on any NSAIDs were included as controls. All patients underwent a gastroscopy examination and gastric biopsies. Hp infection was confirmed by CLOtest, anti-Hp ELISA, and [13C]urea breath test. The CagA status was determined by the anti-CagA antibody assay. The degree of gastritis, apoptosis, and proliferation indices were determined with H&E staining, terminal uridine deoxynucleotidyl nick end-labeling (TUNEL), and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) immunostaining methods, respectively. A significantly higher apoptosis was observed in subjects who had Hp infection or had been consuming NSAIDs when compared with the controls. Unlike NSAID-treated subjects, patients with Hp infection were shown to have significantly enhanced cell proliferation. However, the increased apoptosis and proliferation in Hp-positive subjects were reversed by also taking NSAIDs. No correlation was found between apoptosis and proliferation in all the study groups. There was no association found between CagA expression or degree of gastritis with cell proliferation or apoptosis. It was demonstrated at the cellular level that NSAIDs could abrogate apoptosis or proliferation effects induced by Hp. Furthermore, the latter effects appeared not to be influenced by the virulent nature of the Hp strains.  相似文献

We have determined the dose-response relationship between sulindac administration and inhibition of tumour growth in the rat. The effect of tumour-inhibiting doses of sulindac on the production of prostaglandin E in tumours and macroscopically normal colon was then examined. Growth of pre-existing tumours was significantly reduced following administration of sulindac at 0.1 (P=0.004), 1 (P=0.01), 3 (P<0.001) and 10 mg/kg b.d. (P=0.002) for 4 weeks. There was no significant difference in prostaglandin E synthesis between tumours from control rats and those treated with sulindac at either 3 or 10 mg/kg b.d. (P=0.09 and 0.4, respectively). Prostaglandin E synthesis was reduced by 33 and 32% in macroscopically normal tissue from these treatment groups. These data show that sulindac inhibits tumour growth at low doses and do not support a role for the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, by sulindac, in the inhibition of tumour growth.  相似文献
